Weber 1710001 Summit S-420 Propane Gas Grill, Stainless Steel

Weber 1710001 Summit S-420 Propane Gas Grill, Stainless SteelI bought this grill for my recent let's say, milestone, birthday. I researched grills for over 2 months. I knew Weber was a good brand but wished to consider other options. My research always pointed back to "buy a Weber". Weber's customer service was always rated A-1, they've been bbq/grilling experts for years, and you know they'll be around in the future. The one kicker for the Summit S-420 model over a stainless Weber Genesis S-320 was a comment from a friend of mine with a nice stainless Jenn-Air model found at Lowes. He wished the rotisserie was positioned higher on the Jenn-Air. In my assessment of grills, I had never considered the importance of the rotisserie height. After looking at the Genesis S-320 and Jenn-Air models again, it became clear that a turkey or large roast might not work on the rotisserie of the other models. The Summit S-420 and other Summit grills solves this problem by providing a much higher rotisserie position. Add to that a much taller cover, and you'll see there is greater height for convection around whatever you're cooking. I've grilled hamburgers, salmon, T-bone steaks, and slow cooked smoked pork ribs all to perfection. No need for a high end smoker feature that permanently reduces grill space an aluminum foil tray with wood chips atop one of the burners works fine. The Snap-Jet individual burner ignition system was tricky at first. Once you actually read the instructions Hey I'm a guy you'll find the technology is easy and reliable. Quality is the final key to this grill. The stainless everything is impressive and high quality. The side-burner is more than an afterthought and mimics many high-end kitchen gas cook-tops. Even the doors of the storage area below are double sided for sturdiness. I usually have a minor stint of buyer's remorse after an expensive purchase. I have none. With this grill I can proudly say it's one of the best purchases/investments I've made in years!!!!

In October of 2007 we upgraded to the Summit 420 and gave my old Weber to my daughter. I'm just now writing a review of our new grill because I wanted to know what I was talking about. First I have to say, the old Weber (a Genesis purchased in 1987) was in top shape having only replaced the grills and flavor bars. Second I have to say, my new grill makes grilling far more relaxing regardless of what we grill. From catfish to the finest fillets, it provides the most consistent great texture and taste. The ability to adjust four different burners from side to side without moving the food is the magic in this grill. The grill is a perfect size for my wife and I, or up to 10 people. Chicken wings are the all time favorite in our family and on this grill I can brown the outside of the wing, fully cook, and then crisp them before taking off (not one burnt spot), without opening the grill but one time. You can cook brisket at 200 degrees, grill shrimp and veggies at 300, bake catfish at 400, and grill steaks at 500 degrees. The stainless steel grills are easy to clean, the light works great at night, and it sure seems like I'm using less propane. Service has always been awesome. I truly feel that if you were lost and you called Weber customer service, they'll try to help you. As far as the downside: I haven't found anything negitive from grilling on this grill at least twice a week for almost a year.

The Weber Summit line of grills have a design flaw that Weber refuses to consider an issue. Whenever it rains, water runs down the back and enters the internal drip tray, and empties into a drip pan. The pan then overflows the greasy mess onto the cabinet floor. Furthermore, the drip pan cannot be easily removed without almost totally spilling the greasy mess.

This Weber Summit grill, as well as the entire Summit line has a design flaw that Weber refuses to consider an issue. Whenever it rains, water runs down the back and enters the internal drip tray, then flows into a drip pan, which then overflows a greasy water mess onto the cabinet floor. This problem occurs with and without the Weber Premium cover in place. (The cover has a mesh on the back that lets the rain in.)

I give the grill a two star rating because it does do a nice job of cooking ... once the mess is cleaned up.

All reviewers said you can't go wrong with a Weber. And after comparing the Weber S420 with all the other gas grills (all of which looked good) there was an obvious difference in quality in favor of the Weber. My previous gas grill produced inconsistent results and resulted in many ruined meals. Yes, the Weber is expensive compared to others that I considered, but it is absolutely worth the extra cash. Every meal cooked on it has been excellent. Very even, controllable heat and a pleasure to use. The construction is top rate and with reasonable care, it should last for many years. Some have complained about water collecting in the grease pan during a rain and making a greasy mess. Well, duh. After the meal simply remove the grease pan and clean it. Very easy to do and when it does rain only water to blot up. As for the premium cover, I am pleased with the quality, the fit and the protection it gives the grill.

So, to sum up, you can't go wrong with this grill. Bite the bullet, spend the extra money and get this grill. You will never have "buyer's remorse".

KRUPS FDE312-75 Universal Grill and Panini Maker with Nonstick Cooking Plates, Silver

KRUPS FDE312-75 Universal Grill and Panini Maker with Nonstick Cooking Plates, SilverWell, this product makes great panini! You can use it to make just about any sandwich very special. If you use really fresh ingredients, the results are as good as at any market in Italy (that is where I got hooked on these). It not only makes Panini, but can be used to grill chicken, hamburgers, sausage, etc, and then throw in the buns before assembling for a gourmet treat.

I got mine as a Christmas gift and used it at least weekly for about 6 months till I moved, and had to pack it for a while. When I got it out of storage (January the next year) it worked for only 4 times, then just stopped. It wouldn't heat; lights wouldn't come on, nothing worked!

I called the local Krups repair site, and they told me if it was over 1 year old, throw it away and buy another. I was royally upset! Appliances that cost over $100 should not fail in 6 months of use! In the old days, a repair shop could fix anything, and they would never tell you to throw it away.

Well, I went to Amazon and read the many similar stories of short life, and sudden failure and realized I was out of luck. After the one year warranty expires, the repair places (who normally would just get a new warranty replacement from Krups and have it sent to you) won't touch it.

Having nothing to lose, I removed the single Phillips screw in the center of the underside of the unit and opened up the unit. The griddle surface separates from the stainless base once this screw is removed. In here I saw a device which looks like a resistor held in place by two small clamps inside a clear plastic tube. I plugged the unit in and tested the voltage across the terminals of this device, and it read 125V. I knew immediately that this was the problem, as it was preventing the entire unit from getting voltage. I disassembled the clamps and slid the tube off, then cut the part off of the two wires.

Looking on the web, I found out the part is a simple and very common "heat fuse", intended to break the circuit if the thermostat (located in the top half) failed and the unit started to melt down or overheat.

This device does not reset once the unit cools, but sacrifices itself. When it exceeds 240 degrees centigrade, it disconnects power to the unit permanently and must be replaced. This is the reason so many people have had failures.

Either the unit runs hotter than the designers anticipated (most likely), the current is too high (doubtful as the unit draws 1500 Watts, 750W per side and the device is rated for 15 Amps at 120 Volts. 1500W only draws 12.5 Amps, so that is well below the 15 Amp capacity of the component), or it was a faulty component. Considering that these components are used in a huge number of heating appliances, it is most likely that the designed temperature for this component is too high. Here is an excerpt from the manufacturers web site:

"The temperatures experienced during normal operation, including expected temperature overshoots, will determine the life expectancy of the TCO. Nuisance trips can result if the thermal cutoff rating is too close to the temperatures experienced during normal operation (this is probably what happens!). Continuous temperatures above 200°C will cause the sealing compound to weaken and ultimately fail. In addition, as shown in figure 4, each thermal cutoff calibration has a maximum temperature overshoot rating (TM). Overshoot temperatures above this rating may cause dielectric breakdown of the thermal cutoff and allow reconduction to occur. See Therm-O-Disc's MICROTEMP® Thermal Cutoff Technical Bulletin for more information.

The safest way to repair the unit is to replace the failed temperature fuse. It is made by Therm-O-Disc and is a Microtemp model G4A00240C. You can find these on the web for about $6.00 (or free if you request a sample from Therm-O-Disc on their web site). You will need a crimp tool and some bare crimps to crimp the wires to the new temperature fuse. I just used some bare (non insulated!) crimp spade lugs and cut off the spade part (Radio Shack or any auto parts store). Do not use insulated spade lugs as the insulation will melt under these temperature extremes. When you dissemble it in the first place, take a picture of the insides before you start unscrewing and cutting. Then you will know exactly how to reassemble the parts. As the positioning of the temp sensor is critical, make sure when you reassemble, you do it exactly the same way it was (direction of the clamps holding the wire and temp fuse, etc).

As my patience was thin after speaking to the Krups repair facility, I took the unsafe route and simply bypassed this component (cut it out and crimped the two wires together). All works perfectly now. As I never plan on leaving the unit unattended, I am not too worried about the temperature fuse not being there (worst case, the thermostat gives out and the heating unit melts the griddle, which will drip into the stainless steel housing, short out the power, and blow a breaker.) I do not recommend the later solution, as the UL listing will be compromised.

If you take the safe route, you should buy a few of these temperature fuse units, as the design problem is not corrected by replacing the part, and it may only last a few months before you have to do it again. When you crimp the component in, make sure you do a good job (tight crimp), if you can pull the wires out of the crimp with your hands, you didn't crimp hard enough. If this happens, the poor connection will generate its own heat and cause the temperature fuse to trip.

Remember, all of these components are subject to very high temperatures, so do not attempt to "lengthen the wire" or use electrical tape, or solder to make the connection. Unless you have materials rated for 240 degrees C, do not use them in the repair. You can use solder but only in addition to a good crimp.

Well, I am back to making great Panini and didn't have to buy anything! I am a happy camper! Cheers.

Good luck! I hope this helps some people!

Best regards,

Wayne

Had the Krups model for about 3 years before it decided not to turn on one day -so to replace it, thought I'd try something different. Went with the DeLonghi CGH800 this time, about $20 cheaper. I loved my Krups, and initially thought I'd like the DeLonghi a bit better. Here's my experience:

*Krups always "sparked" at the outlet when I unplugged it. Not so with the DeLonghi.

*DeLonghi has adjustable heat, so, although I only used the Krups for Panini, I'm kind of excited about the options I now have with the DeLonghi. I'm inspired to try a burger or chicken! It also has a channel where the grease can run off -and a little cup to catch the grease. If you'd ever use the Krups for anything other than a sandwich -the grease would have no where to go.

*DeLonghi has wider channels on the grill plate -which make it a lot easier to clean up. BUT, this is also the reason the panini DOES NOT get as crispy as it does on the Krups.

*The Krups latch, meant to hold the top & bottom together so you can store it on its side, was flimsy and broke after a week. It latched when I didn't want it to -and wouldn't when I did. (A minor thing, but it got to be annoying.) There seems to be no threat of that happening with the big latch on the DeLonghi.

*The DeLonghi is kind of "chunky" -it takes up more space when stored on its side than the Krups. The Krups also has a slightly bigger grill surface.

There's my 2 cents. Happy sandwich-making!

Undoubtedly, the Earl of Sandwich never dreamed of these mighty little morsels that have crossed the ocean from Italy and are now found here in bistros and take-outs. Another good place to find them we've discovered is at home if you have this Krups grill.

Panini, as most know are delectable cheese and meat sandwichs (think prosciutto and mozarella) that are toasted on a grill, flattened to a slim configuration.

This Krups grill has nonstick plates on both top and bottom, so it's easy-clean. Very much like all of the other Krups products I've used it is well made no wobble (we have a waffle iron that appears to dance).

And, it's multi-purpose great for burgers, chicken breasts.

Kudos to Krups for this one!

Mine gave up the ghost after about 10 months of very light use (maybe used 15 times). It was purchased earlier so no warranty. I opened up to see if there is any fuse inside or heating elements weant bad. Turns out there is a thermal fuse to prevent overheating (I guess it is a double safety measure in case thermosotat fails). I called the Krups customer service to be told that to buy a new one. I asked if they would provide the fuse, they said no. I asked the cutout temperature, they said no. Being dumbstruck, I expressed my thinking when it comes to next appliance purchase, I am going to be remembering this. He says, "well then" and hangs up the phone.

It is a Radio Shack item and $1.50 each (443?F (228?C) Thermal Protector Fuse Model: 270-1321, Catalog #: 270-1321).

I gave one star because the life span and awful customer service afterwards.

I've been using this for two weeks and the panini I'm making are delicious. It's so easy to use that I never hesitate to make panini; all you do is plug it in and wait a few minutes for it to heat up. Clean-up is also easy because of the non-stick surface. My one complaint, and the reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5, is that the handle, which wraps around three sides, is not entirely covered in protective plastic and gets as hot as the grill surface. I keep accidentally hitting the sides with my hands and getting tiny burns. Now, after reading the other reviews, I hope that my panini maker lasts a long time and does not break or mysteriously die. If that should happen, I shall post an update. For now, I give it two thumbs up with a word of caution to guard those thumbs from getting burnt.

Charmed Life Products 6-Piece Grill Charms Set, The Charmed Life Collection

Charmed Life Products 6-Piece Grill Charms Set, The Charmed Life CollectionOnce in a while certain items come along and you think, WOW, why didn't I think of that. These Grill Charms are one of those thoughts. Take a simple concept, flesh it out make it out of high grade metal and you have a quality product. Now instead of cutting into every steak to see which is rare and which is medium you can insert these charms into the meat and keep track of temps and flavors from grill to table.

Not only are they great for steaks, but chicken, pork chops, turkey cutlets and even hamburgers. The charms do not slide out out thanks to the simple cut edges on the sides of the charm. No they are not tie tacks, nor are they small branding irons for the meat; simply insert into the meat, season as you do normally and then grill to your desired doneness. Then have no fear of stacking together on one plate because each piece of meat has a marker that will clearly state the cook's intentions. I thought for sure the burgers done up with the charms would loose one or two when flipped but they stayed securely in place and made it to the table without any problems. Each guest was happy to see that the meat did not have to be cut or pulled apart to test doneness, nor were the charms hard to pull out before eating.

Another nice feature is the ability to change up seasonings without worry. I love my grilled proteins highly seasoned and my guests not so much, so I push these little charms into the low heat seasoned meats and now when I'm done grilling I can simply point out the charm that the guest selected without them worrying about burning off their tongue. This also plays helps many guests with allergic reactions to gluten or nuts. Now, by placing a charm into their cut of meat you can know let them know that you followed it from grill to table without any possible marinades or seasoning that wold cause an allergic outbreak. You simply keep those cuts away from the others and offer your guests a piece of mind with an excellently cooked piece of meat.

Grill Charms are an inexpensive and fun way to stay safe and have fun when grilling! They are easy to clean up in the dishwasher or by hand and ready to go at the next outing. I highly recommend these to anyone needing to mark their grilling territory!

I bought these salt and pepper shakers as a gift. I was surprised at how large they actually are. They are a good size for salt and pepper shakers, though I was imagining they'd be smaller based on the photos. Some of the legs weren't quite level, so the ants wobbled a bit on the table first out of the box. We carefully bent the legs to be even with the others & they sit on the table perfectly now. These are cute & would be very fun on a picnic table or outdoor patio.

Lola Jumbo Stainless Steel Scourer

Lola Jumbo Stainless Steel ScourerI first saw these many, many years ago by watching the cooks in Chinese take-out places. At the end of cooking dish A, they throw this into the wok, pressing it down with the back of a ladle, and then using the combination to quickly scrub out the wok before moving on to dish B. Note that they come in two sizes; you want this, the Jumbo.

This baby is awesome! Everything else I have used to date degrades over time, and leaves rust stains behind on the sink in the process. This pad is not only holding tough after 3 months (as far as I can tell it hasn't degraded at all), but was also able to clean the rust spots left behind by the others.

Recommend highly.

George Foreman GRP90WGR Next Grilleration Electric Nonstick Grill with 5 Removable Plates

George Foreman GRP90WGR Next Grilleration Electric Nonstick Grill with 5 Removable PlatesI heard a commercial for this about 3 or 4 times one evening, and I finally paid attention after barely listening to it the first few times. Once I saw that it had interchangeable, *dishwasher-safe* plates, I told my husband that I wanted it for Christmas. I popped over here to amazon and ordered it right away. It got here before Christmas, but since it was my gift, I had to leave it alone until afterwards ;-)

A few things attracted me to the grill. Interchangeable plates, dishwasher safe, and the waffle plates. I had been looking for a new wafflemaker, and in fact had looked at the store the night I saw the ad for the G5. The one we've had for 11+ years is too small for our family now, and I wanted something bigger. However, it seemed silly to spend a lot of money on one since I don't make them that often. Imagine how happy I was to see the size of the plates on the commercial!

Let me tell you, I was not disappointed with my first waffle go-round a couple of days ago. It makes 2 waffles that are each just about the size of 2 typical square freezer waffles. That's what I'm talking about! I made up a batch of Bisquick waffle batter, and set to cooking. It was trial and error as far as learning cooking times. I like my waffles softer, my husband likes them crispier. I would say on average they needed to cook 5-7 minutes. I pre-heated the grill as directed, and poured about 1.5 ladles of batter on each side. I didn't get them perfectly full each time, but close enough, you know? We ate them, we liked them! I didn't have any issues with them cooking unevenly; each batch turned out just fine.

Yesterday my husband made grilled cheese using the steak plate and the baking tray (upper & lower). He tells me that he flipped it over so he'd have the same design on each side *insert rolly eyes here*, but otherwise it cooked just fine.

Last night I made chocolate chip cookies using the recipe from the cookbook that came with the grill. So cool! They were virtually impossible to screw up! I did cook them longer than the recipe called for after the first batch; cooking times I think are are things that will have to be judged individually for each recipe. There are guidelines in the cookbook and the instruction manual, but I don't think they're hard and fast. Experiment and see what works best for you :-)

This morning my husband was at it again, this time making scrambled eggs. I didn't get any (he ate them all while I was asleep!) but he says that they cooked the eggs in about 1/3 of the time as our gas stove. He was pretty happy with that.

I was pleased with the 2 drip trays and the better spatulas (also 2) that came with the grill, in addition to the cleaning sponge. I don't know how often I'll use the sponge, since the plates clean so easily by hand (and once again, they are dishwasher-safe!), but it's nice to have. I liked the other Foreman grills, but cleaning them stopped me from using them as often as I might have otherwise. They were just kind of a pain; if you've used them you know what I mean.

Get this grill :-) If you have realistic expectations and are willing to experiment to get just the right cooking times, then I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm not!

This is my second GF grill. I had a different model for over a year. The GRP90WGR suffers from the same problem as the first one I owned. The non-stick coating is really poor. It doesn't last very long, even with careful cleaning. My new grill has been used under ten times and the coating is disappearing from high spots in the grill surface even though I only use a soft sponge to clean it. In all other respects, this is a well-designed appliance.

We had never been interested in the GF indoor grills before already had too many kitchen gadgets cluttering up our counters. Then we saw this and thought it might be great to get a grill plus be able to eliminate other small appliances we use often. As a result, this grill has become a counter staple-we use it every day.

It replaced a toaster oven, two waffle makers (one regular, one belgian) and a grill someone gave us eons ago (not a GF). We're even getting rid of the rotisserie oven (we never used it much anyway). With the baking pan we've been able to toast bread, english muffins, toaster pastries and reheat pizza and meat patties. The grill plates cook great sandwiches, bacon (really great and drains a lot of fat), steaks, hambergers, franks, sausage, shrimp (we did kebobs with vegetables). Grilling is especially fast. A 1" thick dry rubbed london broil steak took only 5-6 minutes for medium rare! Although the waffle plates make only two at a time, they are LARGE waffles-we've even made some with blueberries!

While fairly easy to clean, we definitely recommend a thorough clean up after each use (particularly the top grill plate) and ordering the extra grill scrubs. Make a copy of the cooking time chart in the manual and post it by the grill or on your fridge for easy reference. Only quibble-must be sure to get the plates on just so, sometimes they can be a little difficult to click in place. Low profile is great on the counter if they could make this stand upright when not in use and had a built in or attached timer it would be too perfect for words. For us, this has been a great gadget value for the price!

My wife and I were looking for a panini maker and couldn't find one with removeable grates (that we wanted to pay for). We had a GF grill in the past (one of the smaller models) and were pleased with it so we decided to give this a try (despite some of the bad reviews). We love it.

Set to high, allow to preheat and 4 minutes later a great sandwich. Used it the other morning to make waffles for my 2 girls, and they gave it a huge thumbs up (you do need to wait for the unit to heat back up after the first batch, but almost all waffle makers have that issue).

Made ready to bake Chocolate chip cookies the other night and they turned out OK (should have used the toaster oven, but wanted to see how the George did).

And of course, grilling meats works great.

All in all a wonderful purchase that allowed us to get rid of our waffle iron and replace our old George, while adding a panini press.

Want George Foreman GRP90WGR Next Grilleration Electric Nonstick Grill with 5 Removable Plates Discount?

Some people seem to have had problems with the "Next Grilleration" Foreman electric grill. I haven't.

The removable plates are a HUGE plus: simply snap them out, wipe off the grease with a paper towel, rinse the plates off (removing any cooked-on crust with a plastic scrubber), and into the dishwasher they go. The previous Foreman grill I used always bothered me, because cleaning it seemed an iffy--and potentially unsanitary--proposition.

I've also had no problems cooking thicker cuts of meat perfectly. HELLO! Just turn your (e.g.) steak around (so that what WAS the front side now faces the hinge) half-way through the grilling time. If you don't have time to do that, you don't have time to cook in the first place. If you can't remember to do that, you should stay out of the kitchen, because you could hurt yourself.

One word of advice: ANY grill of this sort works best with boneless cuts of meat, simply because bone and meat shrink at VERY different rates when heated. (DUH!)

I haven't tried to cook waffles on it. I use a waffle iron for that task. But the new Foreman grill makes GREAT grilled cheese sandwiches.

I LIKE the control of temperature on this model; the older models were either full blast or nothin'. With this one, you can experiment and find your personal ideal grilling temperature. It's pretty clear that grilling a hunk of meat is best accomplished at a higher temperature than making a grilled cheese sandwich (though you're welcome to your own conclusions).

In short, this seems to me to be a well-planned, well-built, and very useful kitchen gadget. It's also cheaper than some alternatives folks have suggested. It grills quickly and well. It even LOOKS nice sitting on the counter.

Grillmark Remote Probe Grill Thermometer

Grillmark Remote Probe Grill Thermometer
  • Monitor food temperature remotely.
  • Metal probe included.

This unit (I have 2) works great.

Long battery life and good transmit distances.

My only wish was that it had dual probes and/or 2 units could

read separately.

Currently I plug in both senders and read them both (multiplexed)

on the receiver. This is a byproduct of how they send and

not (I think) a design feature.

The only problem with this is that you can't set 2 alarm temperatures.

So if you are measuring grill temp and meat temp you can't set

2 different alarm temps.

This unit works much better and is more flexible (with the previously mentioned desire)

than the other units I have tried....Maverick, Webber.....

We have owned this thermometer for four or five years and have found it to be very reliable. The only thing I wish it had was another "Custom" setting that you could enter the perameters for. For instance, say you want something to be done at 125 degrees. You could set it up to show you that. Yes, you can pick a certain meat temp. that closely matches your temp. and that works too. I think this is a great piece of equipment and I wouldn't be without it, especially when grilling/smoking a large turkey in the cold New England weather!

If there was a zero star rating, that is what I would have selected.... Do NOT waste your money on this product. I purchased it and it worked once out of the box second time (week later) it wouldn't sync. Zero degrees. Had to go back to old manual probe. This product was a waste of time and money. ACE coming back this weekend to return it for my money back!

George Foreman GRV80 Contemporary Grill with Extended Handle

George Foreman GRV80 Contemporary Grill with Extended HandleThis is my fifth George Foreman grill. It is the largest I've purchased over the years. I use the grill several times a week. It heats well and food grills uniformly. I find this particular model to be easy to use and it has held up better than the cheaper models. My biggest issue with all of the grills I've purchased is the cleaning. The plates don't come off, so you have to be careful when washing them so that you don't get water where it shouldn't go. The grills are made well, so it is pretty hard to get water inside the apparatus, but it is still a bit of a chore to scrub. Highly recommended if you want something that will quickly grill a juicy piece of chicken, vegetables and more.

I just got my george foreman contemporary grill today! On the picture it looks white but its really silver. I've already cooked chicken, shrimp, salmon, corn on the cob, and a quesadilla. It's awesome! Soo much fun! Cooking surface is 80 sq inches and it's small enough to fit on our kitchen counter without looking too bulky but big enough to cook for me, my wife, and my 5 year old son. I tend to over cook my food because i haven't gotten used to it cooking soo fast but I'm starting to figure it out. I think I'm going to start preparing my food in the morning (marinating meats, cutting vegetables and whatnot) to cut down cooking time even more! Cleaning is simple enough...just wipe down the hot grill with a sponge and dry off with a kitchen towel. Me and My wife are on a diet so this grill is going to make it easier to keep us on track! Highly recommended to anyone!

I've had my George Foreman GRV80 for six months and am completely satisfied with it. I use it at least five times a week for my family. I make everything from fish sticks to pizza on it! It only has one setting (very hot) so I'm limited to what I can make. As a "starter" grill I think this one is great. The nonstick surface makes clean up easy. If you want to do more things with your grill (i.e., make pancakes, cookies and waffles) then I would look into getting a grill with interchangeable plates. I also like the sloped grill so all of the fat drips away from the food. Today I made bacon and was amazed to see how much fat was in the drip pan! Another great feature is the large cooking surface. It's plenty big to make hamburgers for 4-6 people and two paninis at the same time. For the money you can't beat it.

I've had about 5 foreman grills so far. I probably used it at the most 3 to four times a week. After about 9 mo. of use the teflon coating starts peeling off the grill. Can't think that's healthy, so I throw it out and buy a new one. It's happened to every one I've purchased. The grill, grills fine, I just wish I could find one that holds up better. To expensive to keep replacing.

I got my grill a month ago and love it. I was reluctant to get one because some of the reviews said it's really difficult to clean. May I suggest that you clean the grill while it's still very warm. If you let it cool down the food particles sticks to the grill. Just warm it up again and you can clean it up in a snap.

Ceramic Marble Coated Cast Aluminium Non Stick Fry Pan 24 cm (9 1/2 inches)

Ceramic Marble Coated Cast Aluminium Non Stick Fry Pan 24 cmIt's hard to get a good non-stick pan at a reasonable price. So far this pan ticks all the boxes. Although I haven't had it long I'm impressed. A good heavy pan to hold the heat, and the surface appears very durable. A good quality finish overall. So far so good

I came very close to finally breaking down and buying AllCLAD, then saw this on Amazon. I decided to give it a go since it wasn't too much out of pocket should it turn out to be a disaster. What a fabulous surprise! These Ceramic Marble coated pans and pots are truly wonderful. I use them nearly every day and have yet to have one problem; no sticking, no peeling, no burning on the bottom of the pan. I have a glass top stove and the pans have no issues at all. Sometimes I use a smidge of butter or oil for added flavor but many times I cook without fats and everything comes out great. My only issue is that I wish the line had more options. I have a couple of other odd sized pots and pans I would love to replace, but so far I have 3 of these and they are worth it and such a deal.

These guys are top notch. This pan is amazing. I cook eggs with a little butter (Not needed) for the taste and the eggs slide out. Pancakes no problem. Run under hot water and it becomes clean. I plan on getting a whole set.

I bought this pan about 5 months ago to use making eggs over easy and I must say it lives up to its non stick name as the eggs just slide around without effort. My Caphalon Non Stick pans aren't so non stick anymore, and I was looking for a good alternative. I considered buying the Orgreenic pans, but the reviews were not so kind, but then I came across the Ceramic Marble Coated Cast Aluminum Non Stick pan and I'm glad I did. Very pleased with it so far and am buying a larger version for everyday cooking. I don't see any wear on the non stick surface so far, so I'm hopeful this pan will last a long time.

Optimus F-4123 12-Inch Industrial Grade 3-Speed High-Velocity Fan, black/chrome

Optimus F-4123 12-Inch Industrial Grade 3-Speed High-Velocity Fan, black/chromeBeautifully made retro-style fan. Sits on floor. Not a huge fan, but perfect solution for cooling and circulation in small vanity area when doing hair and makeup routine. Very quite. Never gets dirty looking like trashy looking plastic black or white fans do. Powerful little number. (Not as powerful as previous 14" I owned, but much less bulky and more quite.) Highly recommend!!!

Great fan. Powerful for a small fan. Use at office everyday. Came in right on time and for the price can't beat it.

This fan is definitely an air mover! It does vibrate across the floor on low speed, though. Fairly quiet, for a fan.

Love the fan, the only problem is when it is on low it has a low wining sound. This does not happen on the other speeds. This fan really puts out the air.

If you need a fan with lots of power than you will love this one.

Mr Bar B Q 02191 30-Piece Tool Set with Carrying Case

Mr Bar B Q 02191 30-Piece Tool Set with Carrying CaseSave your money and buy something else! I got this set for my husband and it looks great when you open it up. Nice case, though made of cardboard, and nicely packaged. Looks like it's all metal. He used it right away. First problem was the grill brush fell apart when he scrubbed the grill. Literally the bristles pulled off the brush and fell into the grill. But we pressed on. The metal skewers melted on medium heat on the grill. The handles must have been attached by glue or something, and after a couple of minutes, the handles melted and fell off. There was nothing on the package to indicate that the skewers were decorative only, so logically you should have been able to put the metal skewers on the grill. Overall just a disappointment. We'll be returning. We found a set of ChefMate all metal ones at Target on sale for $15 which look much better than this one, so shop around for more.

I liked this product until we made kabobs. The skewers in the set seemed perfect! When we put the kabobs on the grill rack to cook, a white-ish foam started coming out of the handles. We make kabobs a few times a month and have never had a problem like this with any other skewers. All of the other pieces in the set are great, but we had to throw away the skewers, along with our dinner that night!

I bought this for my boyfriend. He loves it. He takes it to BBQ's with the guys and they are amazed with the whole set. However, the prongs are rather flimsy and don't work to pick up stuff from the grill too easily. But if you are looking for a real 'cool' factor, this set has it!!

Advanced Tool Design Model ATD-8239 Long Plastic Handle Wire Brush

Advanced Tool Design Model ATD-8239 Long Plastic Handle Wire BrushAfter several wood handle brushes and my knuckles getting too close to the barbecue fire, I found this wire brush superior. The plastic handle allows good control and keeps my knuckles from touching the hot grills. The bristles are retaining their position even at the edges.

I bought this brush to increase my total order enough to qualify for free shipping. I needed a wire brush anyway, but it's not the kind of item I would normally go online for. I was pleasantly surprised. The handle design eliminates the traditional scraped knuckles when using a wood-handled brush, and so far, the bristles seem to stay in without dislodging longer than with a wood-handled style. I have had some of the wood type last less then a day of use. I will most likely stick with this style in the future. My only concern (a minor one) is how well it will hold up to heat, like brushing welds, etc.

I bought this based on other's recommendations here that it would work as a grill brush. It didn't work at all for me. I'm rating this a 3 because I don't want to give an entirely negative rating because this brush may work for other purposes. For cleaning my grill it was a complete dud. I would not recommend this at any price for grill cleaning.

The brush is of so poor quality that the wire 'hair' fel off the brush before I finished brushing the grille grid.

It practically fell apart after less than 2 minutes of brushing.

It's not worthed a penny.

My husband does most of the cooking. It seemed like every skillet we purchased after awhile starting peeling. We even tried cast iron and he wasn't happy with results. It seemed like we thru over $200.00 into the trash not to mention our health. I ordered this pan and received it within 2 days, very impressed with the product. He started using the pan, found out you have to cut the heat way back and it doesn't need any oil for cooking. This griddle pan is absolutely great!! Would recommend this pan!!

Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Iron Griddle

Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Iron GriddleI really wanted a pre-seasoned cast iron skillet to replace the series of 'disposable' teflon coated ones that I've been using, but when I recieved this one, I was a bit disappointed for 2 reasons. As someone else already stated, make sure you coat it well with oil on the first use. Even though I did, the eggs still stuck. Which leads to my second problem. The picture does not show the large gutter on the flat side. That makes it rather unusable for eggs, pancakes, etc. I tried it anyway, trying to keep the eggs away from the gutter, but they dripped in, and my fried eggs turned into a stuck-on long drippy mess in the gutter. I wouldn't even try pancakes on it. :-( It would cost more in shipping to return it than it costs (almost!) since it's so heavy, so I'll keep it and use it in the oven and on the grill, but I'm unhappy that that picture does not show that gutter. I'm going to order the larger griddle, but that one is going back if it has the same gutter!

Lodge is the leader in cast-iron cookware. Made in USA for more than 100 years, it's heavy, reliable, great stuff. Cast iron takes a little effort. You have a relationship with it, unlike teflon type pans. You learn to work with it and it will reward you with incredible performance.

I've had the non-preseasoned version of this griddle for about ten years. At first I was disappointed in the performance but over time it got better and better. Nothing sticks to it now. Cleanup is easy with just a quick wipe needed. The cast iron is so good at spreading the heat out that it has very even temperature.

Pre-seasoned is a bit of a misnomer. The "seasoning" process is never completeLodge Logic has simply jump started the process. It does get better and better. At first maybe only use it with an oil or with fatty foods. As time goes by the need for added oil goes down. I can make pancakes or french toast with no oil or butter. I generally give it a light spray of cooking spray though.

My only complaints are that with the grease gutter the total cooking area is somewhat small, plus pancakes will flow into the gutter if you aren't careful. I never use the grill side but from experience with my Lodge grill pan I'm sure it would do a great job.

I'm sure that this griddle will just keep getting better and better as the years go by. I can't say that for coated nonstick cookwarethat seems to have a life of about five years in my family.

Note that your burner spacing is important. This size has a cooking area (not including the grease gutter or handles) of 16-3/4" x 7-3/4". The overall size is about 21" x 9". It fits the stove in my camper and my Weber Gas Go-Anywhere Grill perfectly. It does not fit my stove at home or my Coleman propane stove because those burners are spaced 11" apart. For those stoves I am considering getting the larger Lodge griddle where the handles are inset. All the Lodge products are listed on the "lodgemfg" homepage. Since cast iron is heavy, shipping can be expensive so be sure you get free SuperSaver shipping.

Buy Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Iron Griddle Now

Why? No loop handles on the pro griddle. Why does it matter, well the handles make it too long to fit inside your oven, or ontop of your stove.

If you are running a camp, maybe these handles are the better way to go, for the rest of us, get the Lodge Pro griddle instead.

I am new to cast iron cookware and this is also my first stovetop griddle. I love that it's pre-seasoned, but even then, I managed to burn my pancakes on the first try. I'd turned the electric burners on to High: rookie mistake. Now I set it to Medium-High. Problem solved. My husband swears hamburgers taste better on this grill than in our George Foreman grill.

The cons of this are characteristic of any cast iron cookware. First of all, it's HEAVY. Storing it was a problem until I found it fit perfectly in the drawer beneath my oven. And unlike a previous reviewer, I had no trouble with this not fitting in my oven or on my stove top (we have a slide-in range; it might not fit as well on a free-standing range where the temp control panel might get in the way). Maintenance is another issue, but care instructions are included, so read them carefully. You will need a metal scourer to keep it clean and lots of nonstick spray to keep it rust-free. I wrap my grill in aluminium foil after cleaning to keep it from getting everything else greasy.

Bottomline: cooks great, high maintenance, and lasts multiple lifetimes.

Want Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Iron Griddle Discount?

Great grill, but after you follow all the instructions, add this info: pre-heat the grill and then coat it well with good canola oil. Then lightly coat the food you're cooking, too. I had a big mess to clean when I didn't do this. Great for rainy days when cooking outside doesn't work.

Cobb Pan Wok for grill

Cobb Pan Wok for grillI purchased a cobb grill to take on camping trips and purchased the wok accessory piece. I love them both. The wok enabled me to make stir fry and a stew from fresh ingredients which we all enjoyed.

It's functional and deep enough to make a one pot meal for family of 4. The reason I only give it 3 stars is because it's so friggin expensive. All the Cobb accessories are overpriced, although I really like the grill. After all, it's just a stainless steel pan.

Camerons Products Alder and Cedar Grilling Planks, Set of 4

Camerons Products Alder and Cedar Grilling Planks, Set of 4My order arrived in record time and I was really looking forward to my FIRST plank cooked meal! I used an alderwood plank, followed the instructions with the plank and cooked 2 Talipia filets and a Swordfish filet. OH MY GOD! They were to die for! Great flavor, moist, and cooked to perfection. We will never cook fish any other way again! Since than, I've cooked beef, pork and other types of fish using both the cedar and alder planks and everything has come out absolutely outstanding. What make this a great value is you get both cedar and alder wood planks for a variety of flavors with different types of foods. I love the milder alderwood with fish but the cedar goes great with salmon and ribs. So play around with each type to suit your own taste but DO TRY PLANK COOKED FOODS! You'll never go back to plain old BBQ foods again! Great buy and one I will be repeating over and over again as we go through BBQ season (which is all year here in San Diego)!

I don't know if the Cameron planks are any better than others I've tried, but plank grilling is great. Cedar, Adler, and others are all good and impart a nice smoky flavor and aroma to all sorts of foods. Perfect for indirect heat on a gas grill. I've had great luck getting multiple uses from planks (soak 'em well), so per use cost is less than buying wood chunks for a smoke box. Different companies have slightly different dimensions, which could be important depending on the size of your grill.

Back in 2009 I posted a negative review on this product because the plank and my food burned to a crisp. I have since learned how to use the planks and I want to post this retraction. Here's the trick.

1. Soak the plank for at least an hours completely submerged.

2. Cook on indirect heat (burners off directly under the plank)

Sorry for leaving my old review up for so long. This product works fine if you know how to use it!
