Oster CKSTPM5450 Panini Maker with Removable Plates, Black
The reason I bought this grill was to cook hamburgers and maybe steaks. There are a few flaws with the design. First, the fat does not flow to the drip tray, instead it sits in the bottom and sizzles, splattering it everywhere. The second problem is when you open the lid, all of the juices from the top run down the plate and drip behind the machine. In the end, there was a mess everywhere and my house filled with smoke(due to the sizzling of the fat that should have dripped in the tray), setting off my smoke detectors. So happy plates can be removed for cleaning and the adjustable top fits evenly on top of sandwich for an even grilling.

CucinaPro 1443 Flatbread and Tortilla Maker
I am really impressed with the non-stick coating. It really does not need any coating on it (even though the manufacturer recommends it) because the tortillas simply will not stick. I center them (after the first press the ball dough will sometimes slide a little because of the slick surface), flip them, and take them out all without a spatula.
Perhaps one thing I do which also helps is that I start the dough off in a bread maker and let it do the kneading for about 10 minutes then form into balls and let them rest for 30 minutes. But as far as being a difficult machine to use I have not found this to be the case just follow the instructions.I noticed that several reviews indicated that users were using this machine to both press and cook their tortillas. This machine works in the same way as the 3000 dollar tortilla press except no automatic operation, that said a tortilla press needs to be hot to keep the tortilla from shrinking, however the tortilla needs to be finished cooking on a griddle for best results.

This is better than any other tortilla or roti maker I have tried. Its bigger and also heavier which reduces the amount of pressure one needs to apply to make flat thin perfect leveled round rotis. I primarily got it to make Rotis. 1 drawback that i did notice is that it does not heat up a lot which ends up taking longer to make the rotis which means slightly drier rotis. So I might try something which can heat up more which I will do rather reluctantly because this is the sturdiest roti maker I have ever come across. Rotis are different as after pressing them down to shape we really should cook on these electric roti makers just like a Tawa or Pan . Pressing them again and again will only make them harder and rubbery. I suggest for 1st timers to search youtube for videos. They are full of them. Thats how I got it right. That said, I dont think the tortilla makers roti can ever compare to the conventional method. If you rate the conventional rotis as a 9 or 10 /10. I would give this a 6/10. But for the sheer convenience of sitting on a chair watching T.V making these rotis in an air conditioned room without sweating it out in the heat of the flame I would give it a 9 / 10.Read Best Reviews of CucinaPro 1443 Flatbread and Tortilla Maker Here
My wife and I are trying to get away from wheat (after buying "wheat belly" from Amazon) and had a hard time finding corn based flatbreads where we shop.So we bought the Cucina pro piece. We had a little trouble at first but learned to press slowly on the unformed breads until they are flat. AND we learned to let the dough get to room temp at least before cooking. A hot cooking surface and a cold dough makes a real mess. After trying home-made tortillas by rolling them out by hand, we loved the taste, but I couldn't spend another hour of rolling for 12 tortillas. So, hubby found this great product. I started it today and after a few failures from pressing too hard and long, I made 36 in about 20 minutes! I made whole wheat ones and they turned out great. I cut the tortillas into triangles and baked on low heat to make tortillas chips. They kids loved them, also! A high recommendation on this!

BUILT Neoprene Sizzler Extra-Long Oven Mitt
Really sad to say this. They look great, but they just don't work as advertised.I do most of the BBQ-ing in our family which goes far beyond the hotdog and hamburger thing. I cook everything on the grill in the summer,, and looked online at lots of BBQ mitts, for something that would be flexible enough to grab veggie baskets, fish baskets, tongs, spatulas all the tools I use, AND keep my hands/arms up to my elbows protected from the heat. These are perfect like any mitts thought, if the pot is hot enough you WILL be able to feel the heat a little through them, but I find that they work great and the multi-dot pattern is very fun...

Got these about 9 months ago and loved them at first. They are good for grabbing hot pans and moving them around. However, i would not recommend them if there's a chance that they may get close to a direct flame or other intense heat source. I've used these to hold the handles on a cast iron frying pan while I cook. Quite a few times, the gloves will get a little too close to the cooking flame, the material will char, and noxious fumes and a black smoke will start rising. The fumes are unbearable and makes me want to clear out from the room. This has happened on cotton potholders in the past, but burning cotton is very different from burning synthetic neoprene releasing who-knows-what chemicals.Pros:
They are super cute by far the most stylish pot holders I've seen.
Fits small hands well.
Opposable thumb design more logical and functional than many other glove-type pot holders with the thumb at the side of the palm. Hello!
Grippy palm very useful for opening bottles and such.
Excellent insulation
Cons:
Scary fumes if used too close to an open flame!
Too small for my husband's hands. He can't use these comfortably

I really like this Oven Mitt in most respects. I was surprised, however, when moving a baking sheet from the oven to feel heat coming through at the base of my thumb at the crease in the glove. This mitt is new, so it's not from wear. In general, it provides excellent protection, but be careful not to let hot items slide into that crease all the way or you might suddenly find something is too hot to handle!I ordered this because of the length noted in the description. There is one spot on the top of my arm that I frequently burn pulling things ou of the oven. The entire mitt is not the stated length, only the underside, making it useless to me. It's well made and pretty, but not what they said, and not what I needed.Wednesday, April 9, 2014

Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 9-Inch Panini Press
Using it: After opening it I read that this is not meant to be used with my type of cook top but I thought I could probably still make it work. And I did. But it took three batches of panini to get the crust I wanted. Too black, too white, just right-and I don't see how anyone, no matter the cook top, will avoid this process. No little dial to set like on a traditional panini maker for how you want your toasted product to turn out. Second, the instructions say, heat your pan and press on separate burners till hot. Then grease each piece and set the press inside the pan for a minute or so, then do your sandwiches OFF THE HEAT. Okay great. Now say you want to make more than two sandwiches, which is what the pan will hold. No problem for the pan, just put it back on the burner to reheat, but what about the press? It is now greased on the side you put directly in contact with the burner (perhaps more of a problem for electric ranges...). You can carefully wipe it dry (it's still hot) and stick it back on the burner, then grease it again (did that, annoying to deal with, but it worked). You can use the retained heat from the press and pan and get a much more lightly toasted second set of sandwiches (have also done that) and then you pretty much have to start over. With a traditional press you can just keep sliding sandwiches out, sandwiches in. I'm feeding a family of six, so to me this seems like a real selling point for the grills and a real drawback for the press.
After I mastered my pan and press I was all happy till I got to thinking, what would one of these taste like without the grill marks? Some of the traditional presses have two sided plates, one smooth, one ridged. I wanted to try a smooth panini. Luckily I had the wit to realize this would be a simple matter. I got out a plain old frying pan and made a no grill marks panini by simply using slighly thinner bread, and pressing the sandwich down with a spatula as it was cooking, then flipping it halfway through. I liked it better, but that is a matter of opinion. It did get me thinking though: I already have high quality skillets. Did I really just pay $150 for a fancy grilled cheese sandwich pan? Yes, I think I did.
I would say that the most value I got from this purchase is the little booklet that came with it urging you to mix spices in a small dish of olive oil, then to brush your panini bread with this mixture on the outside before making them. It is delicious. Don't think I would have thought of it on my own and my panini cookbook doesn't mention that great little idea, so kudos to Le Crueset for good cooking tips. But you may want to consider (as I wish I had), before dropping your cash: does anyone really need a panini maker? To cook something both sides at a time, thus saving a total of two minutes, and to imprint it with grill marks: is this worth $150 to you? Or $80 or $90 if you go the traditional press route? Before buying this or any panini press I would urge you to get out a heavy duty flat bottom skillet, assemble a panini, place it in the pan over medium heat, press it down with a spatula, and carefully flip it two minutes later. If this is tasty to you, you just saved yourself more than $100 and you are still enjoying a panini.
I hope to use this pan for other things, like burgers, steaks and chicken, to feel I got my money's worth out of it. It is a great pan, nothing wrong with it, thus the four stars. HOWEVER If I really wanted fancy grill marked panini I think I would rather have gone with a traditional press for the convenience of making multiple sandwiches, not using up more than half my stove to make what is supposed to be a quick and simple meal, and adjustable temperature control. Nor would I get one with multisided plates. I would use a frying pan for a "no grill marks" sandwich. Something to think about!

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. 99% of the time I reach right past my Calphalon and pull out the Le creuset. It's big, bulky, and weighs a ton, but it is hands down the best cookware I've ever owned. I use my square grillet for everything from burgers to meatloaf, as it cooks as well in the oven as it does on the stove. I intend to never have to purchase another set of cookware in my life, so when I had to spend $50.00 for a panini press, I didn't even give it a second thought. This press heats evenly over the grillet, and gives panini the perfect press and crisp grill marks. The pan and press can be soaked so cleanup is a breeze. I would not recommend buying a cheaper version; you get what you pay for!Read Best Reviews of Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 9-Inch Panini Press Here
We bought this instead of getting another panini maker. Works well, you just need to make sure to heat it enough and give it time. Not as fast if you are use to larger panini maker.Want Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 9-Inch Panini Press Discount?
We have two Le Creuset Griddle pans, one in a southern home and the second in our summer cottage. I use my griddle pans 4-5 times a week and love them. I have the Panini Press in our summer cottage and when I'm there I use the Panini Press maybe half the time.I spray the griddle before I heat and use it, but using the Press is different. It is supposed to be heated separately, then I spray it with Pam or something like that, then put it on the food. This works well the first time. However if you are doing a second batch of chicken or sandwiches, you either have to clean the Press to re-heat it or not use it because if you heat it with the spray and the juices on the Press you will have a mess on your stove top.
Confused? Come to my kitchen and I'll show you.
I like to use the Press with the Griddle because my grilled chicken comes out moist and tender, but I usually repeat the grilling process at least one and sometimes two more times. Is it absolutely necessary to have a Press? No! Fun? Yes! Great conversation in the kitchen with friends and family? Sure!
It's something you can always buy later.

Grill Friends Rub Shaker
Highly recommended!!I have several commercial rubs which I like to use but never found a good container for them so I use them out of the package which made a terrible mess. I finally bought this shaker on Amazon and it's really wonderful. It has different size holes and can close completely so that the spices stay fresh. The handle is really helpful and the design and stainless steel exterior make it very attractive to keep out. It's so nice that I'm going to buy two more, one for my cinnamon and the other for the Cook's Vanilla, both of which I use daily for my morning cappuccino and oatmeal.
Great product!

I love this product. I make my own rubs and spices and I use pepper spices in the mix. I needed a shaker that was flexible for small and large bore spice mixes. This fits both scenarios. The shaker has a opening that slides to accommodate all sized spice mixes. Great product, solid construction.I bought it to help me get a more even coat of dry rub when I'm barbequeing especially when the recipe calls for coating it with oil first and then applying the rub. Putting the rub on with your hands results in a mess and an uneven coating of rub. This shaker is just what I needed and works real well. The product was delivered timely and efficiently.I got this for my husband because he likes to make his own seasoning & rubs for when he BBQs.This is definitely a high quality product and very easy to clean. Highly recommend!Thursday, January 2, 2014

I've used one of these and its big brother cooking and grilling inside and outside for a bunch of years. This 12" Pig Tail and the larger version were bought as wedding gifts. I'm sure they'll get much use.A friend gave the pigtail to my husband as a gift...now he doesn't use anything else for most grilling. We gave all the men in our family one for Christmas. We received one of these as a gift years ago. We were sold from the start and have been giving these as gifts for birthdays, weddings, and Christmas.
