Weiman Stainless Steel Wipes

Weiman Stainless Steel WipesWhile this product works much better than the multipurpose and window-type spray cleaners, the wipes are not as easy to use as I'd hoped. You see, you will need to actually clean the item first, then use these wipes to polish the surface. And by polish, I do mean *vigorously polish*. If you simply run these across a stainless surface, you will end up with milky residue/major streaks.

So, while I wouldn't purchase this product again, I wouldn't say that it isn't at least adequate for removing streaks from stainless appliances.

I've tried several products for my stainless steel appliances and this is the only one that works well for my refrigerator. For some reason we get streaks down the front of our refrigerator that are almost impossible to remove (we're assuming from the water dispenser). The Weiman wipes work much better than any other product. My only complaint is that they seem rather dry and it takes two or three wipes to get the streaks off. I want to try the Weiman Stainless Steel Spray, but can't find it in the stores. All in all, a great product.

These are the BEST wipes I've ever used, but I don't just use them for my stainless steel appliances. They do an AMAZING job on my flat-top stove. I hadn't been able to find anything that cleaned the flat-top to my satisfaction; I could always see marks on it. Now it shines. Thank you, Weiman Products!

I got a brand new stainless steel refrigerator and still had the hand prints of the delivery guys. I could not get water spots off or anything else. I wanted to take it back where I got it and get a black or white one. I looked on Amazon and found Weiman Stainless steel wipes and thought I would give them a try. Wow, what a difference. They even keep prints off. Love my fridge now. Even gave them as a move in gift to my friend because she had never had a stainless steel refrigerator either and knew she would love them.

iDevices iGrill Grilling/Cooking BBQ Thermometer

iDevices iGrill 7685-IGLK Grilling/Cooking Barbecue Thermometer, BlackI bought one of these a few months ago and have been using it to a moderate level of satisfaction. I have tried it with iPhone, iPod touch, and my wife's iPad. Due to the awful battery life of the iPhone and iPod touch, I primarily use it with the iPad. I use it with two probes to monitor the temperature of a chosen cut of meat and the internal temperature of my Primo XL smoker.

This product has so much potential but I'm only giving it 3 stars. Why? Well, for one thing, the build quality is a little bit suspect. I have a white unit, and the plastic housing doesn't feel very tough or rugged at all. I wouldn't want to see the unit take a fall onto a hard floor the plastic has a flimsy, almost brittle feel to it. While I would like it to be more rugged, it's not my primary concern. My biggest concern/complaint is that so far, the iGrill is ONLY compatible with their own homegrown IOS iGrill app. The app itself is okay and provides some basic functionality, and is generally fine for short duration cooks, but when I am doing "low and slow" cooks (of up to 30 hour duration), I need a more robust app with a few more features.

1) The iPad app just closes on its own periodically. This means you lose all the data that's been collected on the temperature trendlines.

2) There is no way to log the data to a file. I'd love to have the app just pump it into a csv file or even "to the cloud" in google docs. When I am cooking new things on the smoker, it's great to be able to go back and see exactly how long it took to cook items and how it correlated to the grill temp

3) There is a target temperature alarm that you can set independently for both probes, but when I leave the smoker going all day long or overnight, I'd love to be able to have a LOW temp alert an alarm that alerts me if the grill temp dips too low.

4) This is one of the things I hate about IOS, but this app won't operate in the background, so if you're using your iPad/iPhone/iPod touch to monitor a long cook, you can't really use that device for any other apps without losing your temperature data. Of course, when the app crashes on its own like it does, it doesn't much matter.

Honestly I would forget about those app shortcomings if there were a full featured app available for Mac OSX and Windows 7. Most laptops have bluetooth adapters and you can get a cheap USB bluetooth adapter for a desktop computer for less than $10. I hope iDevices strongly considers doing this or at the very least releasing an SDK or API so independent developers can create their own apps to communicate with the iGrill. If that happens I would give the iGrill a bump to 4.5 stars. (To reach 5 stars it still needs to be more rugged).

Just a few other notes

1) battery life seems pretty good. 4 fresh batteries seem to go for at least 50-60 hours of use.

2) the display on the device is nice for a quick temp check when your wife confiscates her iPad, but it can be difficult to read in bright light, at least on the unit like mine with the white plastic housing.

3) i bought my iGrill at the apple store because I'm impatient and didn't want to wait weeks to order one online. Unfortunately it's only sold with a single probe at the Apple Store. I ordered a spare probe directly from iDevices but they rip you off on shipping and you end up paying around $30 for the 2nd probe. The probes seem accurate but like the iGrill itself, I am a little suspicious of the durability the wire lead is quite thin, so $30 is a ripoff. It's better to buy the bundle that includes 2 probes with the base unit.

4) I don't expect the white housing to hold up very well over time. If the Apple Store had it in black, I definitely would have purchased the black one. That white plastic gets dirty easily and I'm pretty certain it will yellow as it ages.

UPDATE August 11, 2011:

It's been a few months since I wrote my initial review above, and coincidentally, (almost as if on cue) an updated version of the iGrill app came out within a few days of that first review being released. Much to my delight, a lot of features were added to the new version 2.0 app, including items #2 and #3 in the list above. Unfortunately, there are still some glitches. I have not been able to get the CSV file function to work at all it just freezes and crashes the app. The pdf function works, but for very long cooks, the scaling on the graph is messed up so that the labels on the x-axis all overlap each other, making them completely illegible. The updated app seems to be a bit more stable I have witnessed a few lockups and freezes here and there but the last 2 long cooks I've done, it didn't crash at all. I had a few issues where it wouldn't link up with the outdoor unit for several minutes, or it would launch and then close immediately, but I think I have it figured out now. Basically, launch the app and turn on the iGrill device as soon as the app loads. If it doesn't display a temperature right away, just wait a few minutes and it will show up. Another glitch I've found that impacts the device's usefulness is if one of the probes is over 125F when you turn the iGrill on, it seems to lock everything up. This happened once when the iGrill app crashed in the middle of a cook, and in an effort to get everything going again, I pulled the batteries out of the iGrill device. When I replaced them and turned the iGrill on, the alarm sounded immediately and the iGrill app couldn't connect, so eventually I figured out I had to remove the probes from the food in the grill to get it restarted. It was quite a frustrating ordeal.

I hate throwing away alkaline batteries so I use rechargeable AAs in almost everything. The iGrill works pretty well with the NiMh batteries that I have, but the "low battery" threshold in the iGrill app should be lowered. Due to the slightly lower voltage of rechargeable AAs, the iGrill erroneously thinks the batteries are running out of juice and it throws false warnings. It will show up within minutes after putting in a freshly charged set of AAs, but then the iGrill works fine for a good 40-60 hours even though it thinks the batteries are low.

Regarding probe accuracy, mine seem to be pretty accurate. I tested both of the probes that I have and both of them read within 1 degree of each other across a wide range of temps. I have tested them against a digital J/K thermometer and the readings are within 1-2 degrees across the range of tested temps, so I think these are accurate enough for cooking. The wires are braided metal but they tangle easily and compared to the probes on my other meat thermometers, they seem rather fragile, so I try to be careful with them when wrapping or unwrapping the leads for storage.

My Williams Sonoma probe thermo just stopped working. So in my search I came across the IGrill and saw some pretty weak reviews. I don't take much stock in most reviews as most are just upset buyers that don't take the time to work out minor kinks in a new product. So on my own judgement and knowing that the apple store sells these units, I bought one. Apple is pretty good about not selling products that don't uphold their high standards of quality.

I've used various grill thermometers over the years, for the past few years I've been using the Weber wireless unit. I was never satisfied with that, it seemed like it was always losing its signal at an inopportune moment (and I LOVE most Weber products).

When I saw the iGrill become available, I figured it was worth a shot. The $100 price tag concerned me a bit, but this is a case of "ya get what ya pay for". I've only used this thing in the heat of battle a couple of times, but it worked flawlessly. The software is a bit clunky, which I assume will improve over time (I'd give it 5 stars but for that), but all in all, I think this thing is well worth the money. And it definitely has a coolness factor that no other grill thermometer can hope to emulate. Well done! (pun intended).

I find that this product does everything as advertised! The beauty of the product, and the reason to buy it, is the remote readout on your iphone or ipad. I don't really care that the unit readout is difficult to see in sunlight again that is not why I bought it, and the strength of the device is the remote readout which is fabulous!!

BE CAREFUL OF THE AMAZON LISTING. It lists the unit twice with only $.04 different in price. So you can easily miss the price difference of $79.95 vs $79.99, BUT one has two meat probes and the other only has one! Clearly, an additional $.04 to get the second probe is the choice to be made, BUT again it makes no sense the probe must cost more than $.04. I think this is an inappropriate listing approach by AMAZON, and hopefully they will drop the single probe listing.

So, I blundered my way into buying the single probe, expecting the dual probe package. After I received it and found only one probe, I dutifully followed the AMAZON return policy, which was to first call the manufacturer. So, I called igrill and explained the situation to a customer support person who said that they would take care of it and all I needed to do was email my contact info. I also wanted to buy an air probe. The Customer Support Manager Matt Called me back within 5 minutes and took care of it without hesitation. He apologized for the AMAZON situation and said that they are receiving complaints from others about the confusing listings. So, he set up the order for the second probe at no charge and no shipping. He also packaged the air probe with the order. I received the package within 3 days. I couldn't be happier with their customer support. This was a great effort by a small company with a great product! Thank you igrill!!

Despite the mediocre reviews, I really wanted to have a good experience the iGrill. I do a lot of BBQ on a Weber Smokey Mountain, and a wireless thermometer is invaluable. My existing wireless is a PITA to sync and keep synced, so when I saw the iGrill's bluetooth capabilities, I thought, "brilliant"!

Well, it would be brilliant except for the apparent faulty probe. I am attempting to smoke a beef brisket using the iGrill and noticed the meat's temp jumping to over 145 degrees in an hour. Given my smoker's temp was only at 250, I suspected an issue.

After some troubleshooting, I observed the following:

A. The probe's temp wildly fluctuating depending on how the probe connector was positioned to the base unit.

B. Even when "settled", the probe shows a temperature consistently 10-15 degrees above that of my trusty Pyrex probe thermometer.

I've emailed iGrill to request a probe replacement, but do not expect to hear from them for at least a day.

If I get a replacement probe that works, I will update this review, but at this point, I simply cannot recommend the iGrill.

EDIT: As I indicated in a reply to a comment, I did receive a replacement probe from the vendor. However, that probe only lasted two months before failing in the same manner. iDevices needs to figure out what is wrong with their probe manufacturing process, because something is not working.

Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Forged Stainless and Packwood Locking Tongs

Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Forged Stainless and Packwood Locking TongsLove the tongs. The length keeps you from getting any heat on your hands, wrist and forearm. Have used it 4 times since I got it and liked it so much that I bought one for a friend who had tongs that were like 9 inches long that I had to only turn one piece at a time and then let my hand cooll off if the flames were roaring. These are 18 inches long and you can turn and place meat of any kind on the cooler parts of any grill gas or charcol. They are stainless steel and easy to use and I am loving the easy uses this summer.

The tongs work extremely well. They do not twist and drop the food. The length is excellent.

Makes grilling a pleasure. The (non-wood) handles allow the tongs to be dishwasher safe.

George Foreman 4 Serving Classic Plate Grill

George Foreman 4 Serving Classic Plate GrillUSING THE GRILL:

This George Forman grill is good for cooking for two or a small family. The grill flips open and you can place your food on it and close it so both the bottom and top are cooking at the same time. The grill comes with a spatula and cleaning tool. The grease from the grill drips into a small grease cup which is included.

COOKING:

The cooking surface is 60 square inches. This means that you can fit about two hamburgers, two chicken legs, two typical sized sandwiches/paninis or five big sausages (like bratwurst). The cooking surface has ridges and is tilted so the grease on the food can drip down into the grooves and off the grill into the grease drip cup. This helps get rid of more fat so the food comes out healthier.

This model is not temperature controlled like the premium model depending on what you are cooking you can end up burning some food before its cooked in the middle if you cook it with the lid down. Some things need to be cooked with the lid open. The top does not get as hot as the bottom does, so to cook thoroughly, often you have to flip the burgers over once.

SIZE:

The cooking surface is 60 square inches. Closed, it is about a foot long and wide (not quite square) and is about six inches tall. The whole cooking surface is raised up, which makes it great for scraping food directly off the grill onto a plate or into a taco shell. This size is pretty good for cooking for two or for a small family. If you are cooking large meals, either in advance or for say four adults, you will have to cook in batches. You might want to consider the 100 inch model George Foreman GR100V 100-Square-Inch Nonstick Grill with Variable Temperature Control if you do that frequently.

CLEANING:

The grill is designed to be easy clean, and for the most part you can just wipe it down with a sponge or wet paper town. If you do this while its still warm it will be easier. However, some marinades will adhere more to the surface and can be more of a pain to get off not impossible, but more work. The grill comes with a tool to help clean it.

PROS:

Easy to clean (99% of the time)

Raised up means its easy to scrape things off the grill onto a plate

Cooks fast

Removes a lot of grease while cooking, for healthier meals

Nice sleek look

Built well enough to last a few years of constant use before needing replacement

CONS:

Doesn't always cook evenly top to bottom, flipping is required sometimes

Marinades can adhere to the cooking surface and are harder to clean

Cord is short only 2 feet, so you need to be very close to an outlet

Isn't truly family sized, this is really sized better for two people

Overall, its a good buy, especially at this price. I would recommend it.

This'll make a couple of hamburgers, a couple of chicken legs or two standard-sized sandwiches (which is English for panini) at the same time. With the adjustable lid set up, it'll make open-faced sandwiches. It's not so great at grilling steaks (the upper element doesn't get hot enough) but for a quick burger, it can't be beat. The non-stick surface is a treat (try to clean it before it cools all the way; it's a little easier that way).

Buy George Foreman 4 Serving Classic Plate Grill Now

I replaced an older Foreman model of the same size and reviews of this model helped me determine that this was the size I wanted. The old one I got rid of had the bun warmer on top, which was mainly inconvenient, not only because I never used it, but it was the first thing to break (every time I opened the grill the bun warmer lid would flip open). I love that this grill takes up little counter space but holds a decent amount of food and that there's no bun warmer. It heats quickly, maintains temperature well and holds two large burgers or five real sausages (not breakfast links it would probably do 10-12 of those at a time) or six hot dogs. I don't cook chicken on it, but it would probably cook 2-3 chicken breasts, depending on size. For clean-up, I wait for the grill to cool down and then wipe down the top and bottom grill plates with a couple of paper towels. Then it's perfectly clean and ready to heat up for the next use. I realized how much we love this thing when we lived without one for a month.

Read Best Reviews of George Foreman 4 Serving Classic Plate Grill Here

I had debated for a long time whether to buy this cheaper George Foreman grill or to suck it up and buy the premium model. After having used it to grill chicken and bacon, I am convinced that the premium model is worth the extra money. ALthough the food cooked well, the top cooked faster than the bottom resulting in some burned chicken. Skip this one and go for a premium, temperature controlled model.

I got lucky,I found one at walmart for $22,on clearance. I love it,the black model looks great. It big enough to cook four beef patties,at once. It comes with four raiser attachments for the legs,so you can push taco meat into a taco shell, strait from the grill.

Outset Rosewood Grill Brush

Outset Rosewood Grill BrushA nice looking design, however, after a few uses cleaning my Weber propane-fired outdoor grill the twisted wire shank of the brush became totally loose inside the wooden handle rendering it useless. I tried re-glueing (with epoxy) the wire shank into the wooden handle without success. As it is now, I use a pair of vice-grips clasing the wire shank but am not able to apply much brushing force to the grill grates. Disappointing purchase due to inadequate design!

Can only use it a few times before its full of charcoal segments. Have no other means of cleaning it other than pressure wash.

Mr. Bar-B-Q Backyard Basics Eco-Cover PVC Free Premium Universal Grill CoverThis grill cover is not as sturdy as was expected. If your grill contains sharp edges, this cover is not for you. It tends to rip easily on sharp corners. I was expecting a more sturdy cover.

Marukyo Stone Stove Top In/Outdoor Grill (Stove Not Include)

Marukyo Stone Stove Top In/Outdoor GrillI have one of these stone-topped grills, but I didn't get it from Amazon. None the less, I will review this product for the sake of others considering it.

Does it brown meat? Hell yes. If you try to brown meat and fail, it's because the stone wasn't hot enough when you put the meat on. The stone has a very high heat capacity and takes a while to get searing hot, but once it's hot, it will brown if not blacken meat easily. The stone takes a minute or two to pre-heat. Make sure you thoroughly oil the stone when you pre-heat the stone. Failure to oil the stone will make food stick to it. The stone may actually have to be seasoned before use. I don't know; mine came in a box covered in Japanese text, which I can't read.

Is it easy to clean? Absolutely not. I used mine for korean barbecue. Korean marinades tend to contain sugar, fruit juices, or malt syrup. All of these ingredients will char and leave your grill topper caked with carbon. Do not wash the grill with soap; the stone is porous and is meant to be scraped clean. Soap will get into the pores and ruin the flavor of subsequent meals cooked on it. Repeated use will season the stone until it's blackened like an old cast iron pan. Rinse the cooking surface under hot water and scrub with a coarse stiff brush a few times to get the loose stuff off, then and scrape any charred junk off using either a razor blade topped scraper or a utility blade. The one biggest drawback of this thing is the difficulty of cleaning it.

If the difficulty of cleaning is not worth the extra heat retention of the stone, this product is not going to be worth it for you. If you absolutely must have convenience, get one of those nonstick coated grill toppers.

Now, I must add that if you heat your stone too quickly, it might develop cracks, so pre-heat on medium or medium-low rather than blasting it on high. Mine still works, but it had visible cracks going through it after the first use, where I foolishly heated it on full blast. The outer metal portion holds it together such that the cracks aren't really a big deal, but I imagine that after repeated use, a cracked stone might fall apart eventually.

One more thing: this device is not meant to be used on the stove top. The stoves I've tried it on don't fit well; if it doesn't fit well, it can shift around. It fits best on one of those portable butane canister fueled burners commonly sold in Asian markets. The idea is that you have this thing going at the table, and you cook your meats at the table Korean Barbecue style.

I saw the first review of this item. It was said that the plate does not brown meat and it was evaluated for 1 star. I think it is unfair as meats for Korean BBQ are not meant to be brown. If this grill is used correctly for the purpose of Korean BBQ, bith indoor and outdoor, it is really a nice product for the occasion.

I bought this in my local-ish Korean market. Sadly the people in the housewares section seem disinclined to speak English and couldn't or wouldn't translate this for me, so I didn't know I should use a low flame and not wash it with soap. Thankfully I seem to have soaked the soap taste out if the stone. The grill worked well enough, but didn't fit my square stove top burner properly. The box does show it used on one of those portable burners, pay attention to pictures! I cooked over medium heat on a gas stove. My LA Kalbi came out good but I had to keep turning and flipping it to cook it evenly. Samgyeopsal ended up deep frying in its own fat, quite delicious but not right. Meat does not cook well over the vented section, but vegetables do all right. I had lots of smoke!!! Had to open windows even with exhaust fan on because it got so bad my upstairs filled with smoke. Again, I cannot read the instructions, so perhaps when properly used on a small propane burner this grill functions much better.

EDIT: I have thrown this out because on its second use the stone cracked all the way across and grease leaked onto my stove creating a fire hazard. Good thing I have a fire extinguisher or I wouldn't be able to edit this!

Proctor Silex 26000 Belgian Waffle Maker, White

Proctor Silex 26000 Belgian Waffle Maker, WhiteIt was the cheapest one I had ever seen, under $18.00, and we are just two people so it was big enough. It looks more expensive than it is. X3 1000-WATT Modular Psu

X3 1000-WATT Modular PsuI will start by saying I generally trust the Ultra line of products, and I really do think this is a fluke.

When my PSU arrived, I did as anyone would do and hooked that puppy up, checked and triple checked my connections, and held my breath as I pushed the power button.

The first thing I noticed was an electric burn smell and the fact the PSU seemed to "rev" slowly. I thought this was just a new item burn in smell so I watched the boot. Everything seemed fine (YAY!)...well, no... not YAY! I ran a program or two and then powered down to do a reboot. Posting seemed fine until the very end and it seemed to snag. I looked at my computer and both my DVD drives had their red activity lights on without the regular stutter. They were the only things connected to the molex connectors. I unplugged the molex and everything worked fine, other than the fact my two DVD drives are now possibly fried. :( Unfortunately Amazon doesn't have any more of these in stock so I have to pay $40 more at Tigerdirect. I want a modular. :( I will update this after I get my 2nd unit. If it works like I want, and my DVDs aren't actually fried, then I will upgrade the score.

They do not appreciate their customers, RMA policy is ridiculous!

Nordic Ware 365 Indoor/Outdoor Stuffed Burger Maker and Patty Press

Nordic Ware 365 Indoor/Outdoor Stuffed Burger Maker and Patty PressThis product shouldn't honestly have ZERO stars. It is a piece of crap plastic that does not make stuffed burgers. No matter how much pam you spray, no matter what you do, beef will get stuck inside it and you will have to dig it out. Once you finally get somewhat the shape of the top, you're supposed to make another one. Then there is a sealer on the other side but I promise you, does not work. You can't even get a decent square burger out of it. This was a waste of money. Don't buy!

DON'T Spray with Vegetable Oil, it didn't work. Burger gets Stuck. I tried wax paper on top and bottom, the burger didn't stick, but the paper didn't give enough and the "Stuff" side impression was too Shallow.

What worked:

I laid down wax paper.

I made 4 oz meatball, using a kitchen scale.

I laid a sheet of Glad wrap over the meatball and pressed "Stuff" side down.

Hold the Glad wrap , peeled off the press, leaving a burger well, with some extra burger edges.

After adding cheese and onions on one side, topped with a second "Stuff" side, covered again with Glad wrap and used the "Seal". There was some extra Burger edges than I smooshed into the burger sides with a table knife.

Cooking took longer than a regular burger, I used indirect heat and verified it was done with a thermometer. A few Burgers leaked out some cheese, but it was delicious!

I look forward to more stuffing experiments.

There are two pieces in the box, one piece is the two-sided stuffed burger press and one piece has a round burger press on one side and a small square, perfect for sliders on the other. Use the Glad Wrap for those presses also.

I like that it's made in USA. Nordic Ware should have really included some better use instructions. I went to the web site and it was not helpful.

Deni 2-Piece Pancake Maker

Deni 2-Piece Pancake MakerI bought this unit to leave at work to make protein pancakes to snack on throughout the day. The first time I used it, I was met with total disaster. Opened the lid and the pancake split in two and was barely cooked. My thoughts were "oh crap those rouge negative reviews on amazon were right!" but I decided to give it another chance. I put a smaller amount of batter inside and waited for the 5 minute marker to take them out. I had to take a call and they were left in for twice as long as normal and I thought for sure they would be black ash by then. I was pleasantly surprised to see I was wrong. They were perfect. They popped right out with no effort and it was cooked perfectly even all around. Today I even left them in for 20 minutes because of a call again, and they were still perfect. I suspect it would be hard to burnt them since the unit doesn't get too insanely hot.

Clean up is also easy as pie. Even after that first disastrous use, after it cooled off, I just wiped it off with a paper towel and warm water. No scrubbing, it just wiped right up.

My one and only complaint is it has no power button or switch. As soon as you plug it in, it turn on and to turn it off you have to unplug it.

love it, so easy to use!

i've always burned my pancakes, not no moe!!

the only thing i suggest is adding a dab of oil before making each set of pancakes.

preheat the pancake maker.

dab a little oil,

put the batter in,

close for 3-4min, and wa-la!

I have owned this pancake maker since May 2012. It is truly remarkable. Nothing sticks to it. Recently I mixed a batter containing only soy flour (no wheat flour) and tried making waffles (using a good non-stick waffle maker I own) and created a disastrous sticky mess. I immediately switched to this pancake maker and had a fantastic result. My recommendation is to buy it; you will not be disappointed.

Orka 17-Inch Silicone Barbecue Mitt, Red

Orka 17-Inch Silicone Barbecue Mitt, RedThe best mitt you can buy(bought two). My wife had gotten really burnt by boiling water. She wanted these so that would never happen again. They are incredible since even though they feel like rubber they don't let the heat reach your fingers! You would think the heat could penetrate the mitt but no!

Great mitt, only complaint I would have is that they are a bit difficult to clean, not so easy to stick in dishwasher without getting them filled with some water, but this is a minor, minor, minor issue, as they are relatively easy to hand wash. Not very flexible when it comes to manipulation of fine objects, but great for lifting grates, using tools, and grabbing some meats. Overall, a great mitt.

After a nasty burn using regular oven mitts, my wife purchased these. They extend almost to her elbow, so hopefully burns are a thing of the past.

I bought a set when a good friend burned herself in my kitchen using a wet oven mitt on a hot pan. I thought they'd be the perfect solution.

What I discovered is that they make it hard to grip things. Most people I cooked with couldn't stand them, and I just barely tolerated them.

Unless you are going to be submerging your hand in hot water (which I don't recommend regardless of the glove, it can easily spill in over the top), go for a glove that combines the flexibility of a cloth glove with silicon covering the parts that grip. The all silicon construction doesn't bend with your hand easily, and so makes it hard to hold on to things.

I hate this mitt. I used it to process some chickens. I need to dunk the chickens into 150 degree water for about a minute and a half. I couldn't sand to do this because the heat built up and became unbearable. I don't know of any other options, but this didn't work for my application.

Music City Metals 54911 Porcelain Steel Wire Cooking Grid Replacement for Select Viking Gas Grill M

Music City Metals 54911 Porcelain Steel Wire Cooking Grid Replacement for Select Viking Gas Grill ModelsThe grill arrived and fit well. The only problem is it was damaged due to poor packaging. Both corners were bent so the porcelain coating was cracked off. I am sure it will start rusting which is why I replaced the original grill. I am not happy at all with the condition of the grill when it arrived.

The grill arrived damaged again after returning the first one. This is the second attempt that they tried to get it right. How can they expect to do business if the item arrives damaged each time? On the second attempt, to make matters worse, they will not replace the damaged item. This sucks when it comes to service. Will never use them again and the lack of response from the company is evidence that they do not care.

Use allvikingparts.com service is much better

The grills arrived timely and in perfect shape. So happy to find a replacement that is exactly the same as what came with the grill.

Factory-Reconditioned Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler

Factory-Reconditioned Cuisinart GR-4 GriddlerI bought the Griddler in February of 2005 and have taken care to ensure it lasts. The Griddler is heavy and sturdily constructed. It heats up quickly, and cleans up even faster. We have used it for panini, grilling meat, and toasting burger buns. The unit can be used either as a panini/grill press with the floating top or opened up to use as a griddle.

The base of the unit heats up and maintains temperature better than the top. This creates uneven toasting of the Panini or other items. It's not so much of a problem using as a griddle, since one side will simply cook faster than the other.

After a year the nonstick surface has started pealing off of the grill plates. I have never used metal on the nonstick surface and have taken great care to preserve the finish. Perhaps it is in the design or a fate of nonstick coated products in general, but the now I will have to take care not to get pieces of the nonstick surface in my food.

The Griddler comes with interchangeable dishwasher safe griddle and grill plates with a lock and release system that is intuitive to use. The plates easily release with the press of a button for cleaning. To place the plates back on the Griddler, one simply rests the plates in the groves located towards the rear or bottom and snaps the front or top into place. The plates don't consistently stay attached in the top section like they once did. It's very annoying trying to reposition a hot plate back into place.

On the surface, the Griddler has the looks and design to be a great product. Cuisinart has some bugs to work out to attain even heating and plates that last. If I were to buy a new panini press, I would not look to Cuisinart again. As a matter of fact, I now enjoy using a Breville 800GRXL Indoor Barbeque and Grill instead.

PROS:

Heavy and sturdily construction

Heats up and cleans quickly

CONS:

Non-stick surface does not last

Uneven heating

This is the fourth countertop grill I've purchasedwhich says something about the quality of most consumer grillsand I was hoping it woul;d be the best, given the price. It does look substantial, and it is in some waysbut not all.

On the plus side, the grill and griddle plates are indeed substantial. They take a while to heat upmuch longer than the grills I've had in the pastand they hold their heat well. You can put a piece of frozen meat on the grill and it won't cool down. That's a big plus when you're cooking preformed hamburgers, as many like to do. And the grill plates remove from the unit for cleaninga very big plus, in my book.

It's large enough to cook two large sandwiches, or four (or more) small burgers, at once. You can do enough chicken breasts or thighs for a family of four. High points there.

What troubles me are some of the details. The switches look substantial, but they're really quite flimsy, and I think a possible failure point. The power cord is really minimal, and you have to be carefull not to let it near the cook top, as it could melt and short in an instant. I think this is a rather serious flaw. And like most table-top griddles, the provision for collecting excess grease and water is nothing more than a pair of plastic cups.

As for the dual-purpose designyes, you can open the grill up and use it as a griddle, but why would you want to? It's much easier, and much less messy, to cook your pancakes and bacon on the kitchen range. This "feature" adds complexity without adding much functionality.

As mine is a reconditioned unit, these objections aren't as important as if I'd paid the full price, but they're still areas for concern. I'll just have to see how well it lasts.

Buy Factory-Reconditioned Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler Now

This is one of the best counter top grills I have ever had. Its very high quality and is built very well. There are only two bad things I can think of with this product. It does make a mess more so then the regular George Forman type grill. The lack of sides around the grill plates means that greese gets all over the area you are cooking. So clean up is much more frequent. The other problem is getting replacement grills. The teflon does wear out over time and i found getting replacments are almost 40.00. Its cheaper to buy another grill with 2 new sets of grilling surfaces. Other then these two itemsits a great unit.

mediocre design heats unevenly, overcooks directly over heat coils while center area undercooks. Grease from top grill drips down on to counter when the top of the unit is lifted. Can do as well with a cheap foreman grill..

Want Factory-Reconditioned Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler Discount?

I bought it thinking it would be an improvement over my older George Foreman since it had removable griddles for easy clean-up. Turns out cleaning the griddles is easier BUT the splatter from anything other than thin, flat sandwiches is a 30-minute clean-up with 409 [countertops, counter backsplash, under-cabinet, unit's exterior especially knobs]. And I'm talking about cooking with the cover DOWN! I would never try cooking any meats or vegetables with the lid open. And I'm surprised they couldn't engineer it so that the griddles would fit either side.

Junior Grill Brush Brush: Stainless/Black Steel

Junior Grill Brush Brush: Stainless/Black SteelI've gone through quite a few grill brushes -some work okay and some just suck. The two biggest problems I had with all of them are: (1) their inability to clean between the grill slats and (2) the bristles getting matted up. The junior grill brush easily and wonderfully solves both of those problems. This rush made mince meat of any cruft deep down in the grill slates and the bristles look brand new and are still vertical.

The weight and bulkiness does make this a bit harder to store. With our other grill brushes I'd leave them hanging on the grill all the time. Since this is wood I don't think it is a good idea to leave it outside to the elements (especially rain). So, I store it in our deck box. I do wish it already came with at least a hole at the end of the handle so that I could hang it while I am using the grill.

Camp Chef Del Rio Gas Fire Pit

Camp Chef FP29LG Propane Del Rio 'Matchless ignition' Gas FirepitJust got this fire pit and it looks great but I haven't actually used it yet. Assuming it works as advertised, I give it 5 stars however I wanted to warn folks about the propane hose that gets advertised by Amazon as "frequently purchased with this item". It doesn't fit! You need to get the hose with 3/8" Male pipe thread x 3/8" Female pipe thread. It would be nice if the amazon description included this detail. Not only was it missing from the description but they actually promote the wrong one.

RECIEVED THE FIRE PIT IN GREAT SHAPE BUT BE AWARE THAT THIS FIRE PIT "DOES NOT COME WITH THE 7 LOGS" AS LISTED. THE HOSE THAT IS SUGGESTED TO BUY WITH THE FIRE PIT DOES NOT WORK WITH THE FIRE PIT AS IT COMES WITH ITS OWN HOSE WITH FITTINGS OF ITS OWN KIND,BUT THE HOSE NEEDS TO BE LONGER.... TO MOVE THE 20# TANK AWAY FROM THE PIT AND OUT OF THE WAY.AFTER CALLING AMAZON I HAD TO ORDER $100.00 CERAMIC REPLACEMENT LOGS FROM ANOTHER INTERNET STORE FOR THE PIT AS THE LOG LOOK IS WHAT I WAS GOING FOR NOT THE LAVA ROCK LOOK. I THINK IT WILL TURN OUT GOOD IN THE END BUT I WILL HAVE CLOSE TO $400.00 IN IT. HOPE THIS REVIEW HELPS

This pit is just what I wanted. I never saw it advertised with logs, so the lava rocks are just fine. This pit is low to the ground so it lets the heat warm you more. Read the instructions well on how to slowly open the gas for the maxium amount of flame. I love that this is one of the highest BTU's (60,000) for a great price. Also very portable if I want to move from back to the front of the house or travel with it. I would definetly recommend to purchase. I have many friends waiting to see how it worked out for me before they purchase. great! And no worry about smoke, firewood and ashes! I also researched many others and it's great for the price.

A great purchase all around. The firepit arrived quickly and in perfect shape and was easy to assemble and operate. We used it at a recent camping-themed reception, and it provided a lovely decorative accent as well as some much-needed warmth on a cool October evening.

Want Camp Chef Del Rio Gas Fire Pit Discount?

Bought the firepit in April 2011. Worked great for the summer and was enjoyed by all. By December the "copper" bowl is rusting all over, inside and out, and the burner ring is starting to get plugged holes due to rust. I am taking it apart to scrape and repaint everything. At the rate it was rusting I wouldn't expect it to work after another season. It looked good for about 3-4 months, then the rust started. If you want it to stay nice, give everything a clear coat of spray paint before it is ever used. I still like it, but I wish it had a better coating and rust resistance as it is an outdoor unit.
