Napoleon 62035 Elite-2-Piece Grill Brush Set

Napoleon 62035 Elite-2-Piece Grill Brush SetI find this brush very well made and has strong stainless steel bristles. It is a great size so I can clean my grill that much faster. I haven't had a chance to use the bottled opener on the end but that will be handy in the summer. The only complaint I would have is that the metal scapper is small but since I am cooking on stainless steel grids, I rarely need to use the scapper. Overall I would say that it is by far the best quality brush I have ever owned but it is worth it to preserve my Napoleon grill.

I'm very pleased with the brush, but it was supposed to have 1 replacement head which was not included in the shipment.

I have a Napoleon prestige p450 grill that I absolutely love. I bought their grill brush to go along with it it. It failed (broke off at the business end) one day after the 30-day amazon return window. I am going to see if Napoleon will stand behind the brush like it stands behind its grills. DO NOT buy this brush. Napoleon typically makes nothing less than awesome products. The quality differential may be due to the fact this brush was made in China, unlike Napoleon's grills which are made in Canada.

Cuisinart Simply Grilling Nonstick Fish Filet Basket

Cuisinart Simply Grilling Nonstick Fish Filet BasketExcellent product, a little bit bigger than I expected, enough space to grill about 2-3 pieces of fish. Hand wash onlydon't like that I cannot put it in the dishwasher. It doesn't lie flat on the grill so it takes about extra 1-2 minutes per side to cook the fish. Has an easy open tab, always wear oven mitts when using this product to turn or remove the fish from the basket.

For a 15-minute pre-heated 425 degree gas grill on medium flame:

For 8 oz. of thick salmon: 7 mins. per side...

For 8 oz. of swordfish4:15 per side.

Walleye 6 oz: 4:15 per side.

Perch or Bluegill 3 oz: 2:30 min. per side.

Half way thru each side of cookingI switch positions for even cooking and no burning of the fish.

I am a fisherman-with 9 fish Ohio awards so I cook a tremendous amount of fish. Want to preserve your catch for over a year with no freezer burn on your fish?

Date the bag on the outside with a permanent marker before it gets wet. Rinse fish off and put them in a gallon size Ziploc or Hefty bag that is filled 3/4 of the way up with 3 shakes of salt in the water. Fish must be below the water line in the bagyou should be able to get about 10-14 small fillets in each bag. Place in freezer leaning up against something with the zipper side up.

Ok, this basket works great for grilling fish... It is definitely non-stick. We fit two individual portion sized fish in the basket and grilled them together without problems. However, I would have thought that a product that is designed to be used on the grill would have a heatand melt-resistant handle! Unfortunately I assumed incorrectly and the handle of our grill basket is now melted. It will still work but it no longer looks nice.

We were super excited to get our new grill but our first attempt at grilling a nice piece of salmon failed miserably, as the fish (even though well oiled) stuck to the grill and tore the fish apart. We promptly ordered this fish fillet grilling basket and we never had the problem again. This thing is huge, which is a plus, especially if you ever consider grilling a whole fish, it will definitely accommodate. It's not dishwasher safe and although it's nonstick, you do have to take some care to wash and dry it thoroughly, but it's a great grill accessory and makes grilling fish (and I'm sure even other meat or vegetables that can be contained inside, a breeze!

This BBQ tool comes in handy when grilling fish and made it much easier to grill without worrying about how to flip the filet without it falling apart. As another reviewer noted, the handle will melt. I had it outside the grill but it was touching the hot edge of the grill cover and it melted a bit. Not sure how to avoid that if you want to close your grill while cooking. The non-stick worked well and was snap to clean-up.

This product works very well and holds three good size pieces of fish. Easy to turn on BBQue. Handle sticks out when lid of BBQue is closed, but that works just fine. Washes easily....not dish washer safe.

Tel-Tru BQ300 Barbecue Thermometer, 3 inch black dial with zones, 2.5 inch stem, 100/500 degrees F

Tel-Tru BQ300 Barbecue Thermometer, 3 inch black dial with zones, 2.5 inch stem, 100/500 degrees FBest thermometer you can get for your smoker.

Made in the USA & far superior to the other thermometers on the market.

I bought a different highly rated thermometer and saved about $20 bucks I promptly ruined about $70 of meat because of inaccuracy in it's temp range (after I calibrated it with boiling water @ 212 degrees).

The Tru-Temp thermometers are precision instruments.

The hole required for the thermometer is a little larger (1/2 inch) than other brands.

I got the additional installation kit which consists of a machined nut & washer for about $6 Tel-Tru Thermometer Installation Kit for replacement barbecue thermometers.

Five Stars *****

Here's a bit about me, so you know where this review is coming from.

I've been grilling and smoking food as a hobby for about 25 years (more so in the last 15). I have eight or nine grills and smokers, mostly Weber stuff. My BBQ skills are about the same as my driving skills: "above average".

(For the humor impaired, that's a tiny lil' joke.)

I like to learn about BBQ, try new recipes, etc. And I love to put on BBQ's for friends and family. I've built a reputation among friends and family as turning out some pretty good BBQ. But in all honesty I don't consider myself any more than a backyard griller. There are some truly great barbecuers out there, and I'm not one of them.

About ten years ago someone recommended Tel-Tru to me and I installed a BQ300 on my (pre-2009) Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker. Tel-Tru thermometers weren't available on Amazon, so I ordered it direct.

The Smokey Mountain is a great smoker, but works all the better with an accurate thermometer. There's none better than Tel-Tru. They are relatively expensive but worth every penny. Tel-Tru is my go-to brand for outdoor thermometers.

This thermometer is appropriate for any thin-walled grill or smoker (up to 1/4" thick) that you're willing to drill a hole in. I can't comment about it's suitability for a porcelain or ceramic cooker. I know that kamados can run much hotter than the range on this thermometer (500 degrees F). I'm sure there's a more suitable (Tel-Tru) thermometer for kamado-style or other thick-walled cookers, in terms of design and temperature range.

Some hardcore grillers and smokers will tell you that the only way to fly is with super awesome, fast reading digital probes and whatnot. I think that "going all in" with remote digital probes, forced air controllers, etc. takes all the fun out of BBQ. If you want pushbutton convenience from your BBQ appliance, then have at it. There's nothing wrong with that at all; it's just not for me. A simple thermometer is about as far down Crutch Lane as I want to go. I just feel better knowing how hot things are during the cook, and having a thermometer on my main smoker has been a great learning tool for me.

If you read any BBQ forums, you'll find strong opinions about analog thermometers. Some "internet experts" assert that analog thermometers are wildly inaccurate and/or inconsistent. That may be so (and they may really be experts). I made the mistake of trying a few "value priced" thermometers, so I get it. But it ain't so for this thermometer!! The lesson here is not to avoid analog thermometers, it's DON'T BUY CHEAP STUFF. When I got my Tel-Tru, I tested it in boiling water. It was dead on accurate. Ten years later it is STILL dead on accurate. This is one case where you get what you pay for.

I've had occasion to check out a few BBQ competitions. I've seen the same or similar BQ300 thermometers in use by contestants there, including some who really knew what they were doing. That carries some weight with me.

The thermometer mount is a 1/2" NPT fitting. I marked and drilled a pilot hole in my Weber, covered both sides with blue painter's tape (to try and avoid chipping the porcelain, although I'm not sure how likely that is), used a uni-bit to drill out to the right size, then cleaned up the edges with a reamer (by hand, light pressure). Tighten, but don't overtighten. It took me all of 5 minutes, and I ain't that handy.

Most people think my smoker came from the factory with the Tel-Tru installed. The black face with white markings and zones is a great match for Weber's black porcelain finish, and for that matter I think it would go well with just about anything.

Keep in mind that these thermometers are accurately and consistently measuring temperature where they're installed. That's different from the temperature surrounding your food! Mine is mounted fairly high in the lid of my Smokey Mountain Cooker. It's about 25 degrees higher than the top grate and 35-40 degrees higher than the bottom grate, for the way I usually set up the smoker. Your mileage WILL vary. For shorter cooks I look for no higher than 240 degrees on the thermometer; for lower and slower stuff I look for 220. I take that difference into account deciding where to put food on the grates, or to determine if I should switch top and bottom, etc.

One more tip for wood/charcoal cookers: don't use the thermometer as an excuse to constantly fool with your cooker. Let it get up to temperature, then make small adjustments if necessary. BE PATIENT. Let things stabilize. Especially for low and slow smoking, get it stable and open the smoker as little as possible.

Tel-Tru makes their products in America. That matters to me. It matters every bit as much that they make very high quality products that stand on their own. Tel-Tru justifies our pride in the "Made in U.S.A" label, and I'm happy to count myself a customer.

Char-Broil The Big Easy Oil-Less TRU Infrared Turkey Fryer

Char-Broil The Big Easy Oil-Less TRU Infrared Turkey FryerWe have been "Deep Frying" turkeys in oil for nearly two decades and I must say that the "Big Easy" is an AWESOME piece of equipment!

We received a call from a friend in Cajun country and he told us that we should buy the Big Easy. We bought it from Amazon back in Feb 2008. We did not use the fryer until yesterday, for Thanksgiving. We were shocked! It was easy to use and there is hardly anything to clean up . If you follow the directions, you will not go wrong. Before we used the fryer, I went to the Charbroil site and read the tips and updated information concerning the fryer.

You only have to do this the first time you use the fryer:

1. After you put the fryer together, DO NOT put anything in the fryer other than the basket and turn on the fryer for 15 minutes.

2. After the fryer has cooled, spray Pam in the fryer, place the basket in the fryer and turn on the fryer for 10 mins.

3. After the fryer has cooled, put some olive or peanut oil on a paper towel and rub the oil on the basket. Place your season turkey in the basket and turn on the fryer. Make sure the turkey legs are pointing down or resting in the bottom of the basket and keep the metal brace that keeps the turkey legs together intact.

** Each time the fryer is used, repeat step three (Oiling the basket).**

Tip:

If you cover the turkey with olive oil, the turkey will darken so if you like the blacken turkey or dark turkey, coat the turkey with oil. Do not put oil on the wing tips because the tip will burn quicker. If you use olive oil, do not place the cover on the fryer and in fact you really don't need to put the lid on at all. I did not put oil on the back of the turkey just to compare the color of the turkey. You don't need to put oil on the turkey because the turkey will have a pretty brown color without the oil.

Pull the skin back from the breast, place the season under the skin (Dried & Fresh), garlic, onion, etc use your imagination. Pull the skin back in place and season the inside of the turkey. While the turkey is in the basket, I placed half a lemon in the top of the turkey along with fresh rosemary, mint etc.

The garlic did not get mushy as it retained its shape but it was easy to smash. I smashed it with two fingers, placed it on top of the turkey and ate it. It was heavenly! The lemon came out juicy so I squeezed the lemon on the turkey. It was good! The lemon nor the spices did not over power the turkey as it gave a good flavor. The next time I think I will juice the lemon, puree the seasons and rub the turkey inside and out as well as place more whole garlic cloves in the turkey. The season does not burn.

On Thanksgiving, we fried two turkeys, one with oil and one with the Big Easy. The skin was crisp as you cannot tell the difference between the oil fried turkey and the Big Easy turkey. In fact, the white meat held more moisture than the deep fried turkey. We compared the two and the Big Easy won hands down. The Big Easy is healthier than the oil fried turkey. The juice pan collected the drippings, we chilled the drippings, removed the fat so it can be frozen in cubes for a later day. The turkey did not stick to the basket. When you purchase the Big Easy, the savings from not having to buy peanut oil is something that you do not have to buy.

Charbroil has accessories for the Big Easy at their website. I recommend the Big Easy and FOLLOW the direction!

This is a great cooking tool! It takes about 15-20 minutes to assemble (unfortunate, but I'm sure it reduces the cost to the consumer as well). The craftsmanship isn't A-grade because of sharp edges and such, but overall it is sturdy enough to seem like it will last a long time.

I wanted to test it out before Thanksgiving, so I bought a 12 lbs turkey to try it out. The turkey took about 2 hours and 15 minutes to cook, which is a little longer than their estimated time (the outside temperature was rather low at 30 degrees F).

The result? Delicious. The skin was nice and crispy, and the inside meat was extremely moist.

The fryer is easy to use, and it can be used for cooking all kinds of meats. I'm really excited to cook a bigger bird on Thursday!

Buy Char-Broil The Big Easy Oil-Less TRU Infrared Turkey Fryer Now

First, The Big Easy (TBE) cooks much faster than a "regular" turkey fryer. From start to finish, a turkey in TBE takes a total time of about 8-10 minutes per pound plus about 10-15 minutes to clean (by leaving it on) and a few minutes to cool down. Traditional oil frying may take much less time per pound but you have to heat the oil for an hour and then you have several hours of cooling, disposal, and cleaning time remaining.

TBE not only gives you the same crispy skin and incredibly moist flesh as traditional frying but you can also -

use a dry rub without having it wash off in the oil

put some "savories" in the cavity

use fine wood chips for a light smoke flavor

make "beer can chicken" or similar recipes

baste during cooking

I've also used it for chicken (whole & parts), duck. leg of lamb, and various cuts of pork & beef and had great results every time.

The only problems I've heard about usually have to do with improper assembly, usually not seating the propane valve properly inside the burner tube to allow for proper gas flow. Other than that, it's pretty much idiot-proof. I'd also recommend you get a decent thermometer (I have a digital with remote alarm) the one supplied by Char Broil isn't all that accurate.

I've been eating and cooking fried turkey since I was a kid in Louisiana (some 50 years ago when we used cut-down 55 gallon drums and fried the turkey until it floated). I'm totally sold on The Big Easy; it may well be the best cooking tool since cast iron.

Good idea and makes great turkeys when it works. I bought this a few months ago, used it 3 times before the bottom fell out of the stainless steel container (that you insert into the fire chamber)and this caused a small grease fire in the unit. Upon closer inspection the container is cheaply tack welded together and will come apart after a few uses. I have confirmed this flaw with another BIG EASY owner who also is having the same problem with the tack welds. Warranty is only 3 months on this product so it will last only one season if you are lucky. Char-Broil needs to look at their quality control concerning critical components with respect to this product since this could be a potential safety hazard.

Want Char-Broil The Big Easy Oil-Less TRU Infrared Turkey Fryer Discount?

I've cooked three 15 lb turkeys since getting this cooker before Thanksgiving. All have come out perfect. I brined all three overnight, and inserted the thermometer in the thickest part of the breast during cooking. No un-cooked areas.

I also did a traditionally fried turkey on Thanksgiving so we could do a taste test. You cannot duplicate the exact taste of a fried turkey with this cooker, but all agreed it tasted great. Even at twice the cook time of frying, this cooker uses much less propane as it is a low flame in an enclosed area. And no oil to deal with!

I did two birds at Christmas. We then cooked down the carcasses into a stock that included the drippings from the bottom of the cooker, and made a great turkey gumbo. I recently cooked a couple of chickens, and will next try a pork loin. I may never fry a turkey again. It looks like my old rig will go back to just boiling crawfish.

My only complaint is that it comes with a basket, and then Char-broil wants you to buy the hinged "Easy Out" basket as an accessory for $20. They should have made the original basket an easy out. It is a pain trying to get a hot, 15 pound turkey out of the basket.

Other than that, it was a great buy.

Charmed Life Products 6-Piece Grill Charms Set, The Charmed Life Collection

Charmed Life Products 6-Piece Grill Charms Set, The Charmed Life CollectionOnce in a while certain items come along and you think, WOW, why didn't I think of that. These Grill Charms are one of those thoughts. Take a simple concept, flesh it out make it out of high grade metal and you have a quality product. Now instead of cutting into every steak to see which is rare and which is medium you can insert these charms into the meat and keep track of temps and flavors from grill to table.

Not only are they great for steaks, but chicken, pork chops, turkey cutlets and even hamburgers. The charms do not slide out out thanks to the simple cut edges on the sides of the charm. No they are not tie tacks, nor are they small branding irons for the meat; simply insert into the meat, season as you do normally and then grill to your desired doneness. Then have no fear of stacking together on one plate because each piece of meat has a marker that will clearly state the cook's intentions. I thought for sure the burgers done up with the charms would loose one or two when flipped but they stayed securely in place and made it to the table without any problems. Each guest was happy to see that the meat did not have to be cut or pulled apart to test doneness, nor were the charms hard to pull out before eating.

Another nice feature is the ability to change up seasonings without worry. I love my grilled proteins highly seasoned and my guests not so much, so I push these little charms into the low heat seasoned meats and now when I'm done grilling I can simply point out the charm that the guest selected without them worrying about burning off their tongue. This also plays helps many guests with allergic reactions to gluten or nuts. Now, by placing a charm into their cut of meat you can know let them know that you followed it from grill to table without any possible marinades or seasoning that wold cause an allergic outbreak. You simply keep those cuts away from the others and offer your guests a piece of mind with an excellently cooked piece of meat.

Grill Charms are an inexpensive and fun way to stay safe and have fun when grilling! They are easy to clean up in the dishwasher or by hand and ready to go at the next outing. I highly recommend these to anyone needing to mark their grilling territory!

Cast Iron Fireplace Grate (327ml)

Cast Iron Fireplace Grate
  • For coal or wood
  • One piece
  • Cast iron
  • Open ends
  • 27" Front, 23-3/4" Back

I spent some time looking online for a cast iron fireplace grate and decided on this one. I've burned about 1/8 cord of almond wood on it so far, and it's working exactly as I'd hoped it would. One reviewer commented on the legs being too short, but they are just the right height for my needs. The legs raise the grate about 4 inches off the floor of the f/p, which was high enough to clear the gas lighter pipe. The grates are far enough apart to allow the fire to get air, but not so far apart for major pieces to fall through.

I am pretty happy with this grate..I burn wood almost every night. It hold lots of logs in it..The only negative thing is, maybe it could have been a little higher (the legs could be long)..But not a big problem.

Great product. I was surprised how thick the cast iron is on this grate. It is 2 times as heavy as the grate it replaced. The closer spacing keeps the coals from falling out and results in a hotter fire and complete burn. I wish I had bought this 3 years ago.

Want Cast Iron Fireplace Grate (327ml) Discount?

Look no further. This is the one you need for your fireplace ! I have been building fires in my fireplace for 40 years

and after much frustration and years of poking logs around I finally realized that I needed a grate that would hold the

embers close to the wood for a constant burn. I ordered this one and boy does it do the job. Start with a 3 or 4 small pieces of fatwood between your stacked logs and the grate does the rest. Beautiful constant fires . No jumping up every 10 minutes to adjust the logs. Just add a log when needed and you will have hours and hours of enjoyable fires. This grate is an absolute must have item if you want to enjoy your fireplace.
