These salt and pepper shakers are a great size. The screw on lids fit a little loose and didn't stay on very well. I corrected this problem by putting plumber pipe tape around the threads now the lids stay on tight. Also the holes are kind of big and the salt and pepper come out very fast so use caution when seasoning your food. Other than that I really like these shakers and I am glad I bought them.

much that I had to give her one!!I've gone through several salt and pepper shakers. Finally I found these on Amazon.com. They are just like the ones that my mom had when I was growing up. They are good quality. One thing to note is these do not have the "S" & "P" designation on the shakers.In all honesty, these really do look cool sitting on your counter. They have that classic look to them and they just demand attention! Now if that is where it stopped, I would think they were great. However, I'm not using them for a show piece. I actually wanted to use them, so here are a few words of insight about these shakers.
The handle does have a sharp feel to it as some others have mentioned. The holes are big on the shaker part, and the lid does have a little problem. Our lid actually fits fine, but I noticed when I take the lid off to refill it that all the stuff spills out where it collected around the threads. We put cinnamon and coca powder in ours for coffee. I use these every day to flavor our coffee, and we drink a lot of coffee every day so I use them quite often.
If you fill it even 1/2 of the way up you will notice a big pouring of stuff when you tip it. See, if the shaker has been filled up, you will dump so much stuff onto whatever it is that you are sprinkling that it may be overkill and ruin it. You have to be tricky about how you use this shaker.
What you do is shake it at an angle, like you're coming in from the side. Don't tip it straight up and down. Also it will clump up around the holes so you have to kind of tap it on the counter to free up the holes. If you gently shake at a slight angle you will get a light sprinkle that comes out.
These work once you have figured out the tricks, and if you just want a pair of cheap shakers then they're great. However, if you are looking for a really nice pair of shakers that are flawless, then you probably want to keep on looking.If you're like me and serious about your cooking, you have two sets if shakers in the kitchen. One set near or around the stove for cooking, and one for the table. These stainless steel beauties are definitely for the stove top. (The salt comes out much too fast for table top use.) Their big, very free flowing, and best of all they are made of a high polished stainless steel that will last forever and clean up like new with a damp cloth no matter what kind of sticky mess you make of them during the cooking process. Also, since their so free flowing they don't seem to be affected at all by the humidity that invades the air in the summer and tends to gum up the salt works. The only small downside I should mention about these shakers is that they are not labeled in any way. No S Or P or anything else. I found that to be of no problem since salt by volume is twice as heavy as pepper. Even half full I can easily tell when I am picking up the salt. If it all concerns you, attach a small sticker somewhere to tell the difference. This should in no way make any difference in deciding whether to purchase these fine shakers. They work flawlessly, will last a lifetime, and are very reasonably priced. Highly recommended....
