This tool has all you need for grill cleaning, however it is a bit small. If you like to clean your grill while the grates are still hot, this may not be the best solution for you because, based on the size and type of grill you have, your arm/hand gets too close to the grill and you can risk the possibility of burn. Overall, it does the job.

I searched for some time to find a grill tool that wasn't insanely expensive. This works, but the only problem is that the scraper is bent way to low and keeps hitting the grill when you are using the bristles. Also, the bristles are not tough enough and have already bent sideways. I will have to break down and pay more for a grill tool.

This is a great idea I received it as a gift and tried it for the first time today. I set the grill to medium heat but it still burned the bottom of the crust. But much worse, I discovered when washing the pan, after eating half of the pizza, that much of the non-stick coating had come off the pan and stuck to the bottom of the pizza. The underside of the pan was good as new, so there's no indication of it having been too hot. As much as I liked the idea and appreciated the gift, I won't use it again. One meal of non-stick coating is more than I can handle.

I would recommend this pizza grill for pizza lovers who like crispy pizza like me. I have made my own pizza for many years and I never could get my bottom crust to brown like my Grill Pro.I really like the pizza spatula/slicer too.

First use, we discovered the non stick coating comes off with great ease, and your food worst of all! This product is most likely adding carcinogenic material to your food. I had great hope for this, the Pizza that we made came out a bit more well done on the bottom, than intended even at a lower heat setting. The Pizza was still incredibly delicious, but then we realized what had happened. Buy another poduct, this was such a great disappointed with the poor workmanship.

Lodge Logic LPP3 Square Ribbed Panini Press, 8.25-inch

I had wanted a cast iron grill pan and press, but wasn't happy that Lodge only made a circular pan and press in raw iron. (They have a square set in enameled iron.) I bought this set the first day I saw the 8.25" press for sale after writing the company to verify it would fit the existing 10" square grill pan. The Lodge customer service department responded right away and their information was correct.

The pan and press are typical cast iron they are heavy, require some home seasoning, and need a little extra care in cleaning. But it's not all inconvenience and bother my version of "seasoning" is to brush it down with bacon drippings I save in my refrigerator specifically for new cast iron. Just heat the pan over low heat, lightly brush with shortening or drippings, and apply food (the colder the food, the more likely it will stick). To clean, use a stiff brush after soaking a few minutes I have a variety of toothbrush-sized implements for the grill pan that are really effective. Beyond that modest behavior modification, the benefits will far outweigh and outlast any non-stick competition.

I have a gas cooktop and a good cast-iron griddle with both flat and ribbed sides. I used this press to make perfect panini the first time. It has good weight to press the panini down onto the grill. The pre-seasoned cast-iron was easy to clean. Since it is not heated, the ribs it has are not used and really make no sense; a flat, heavy press would work just as well. You do have to flip over the panini to cook them to get the desired grill marks on both sides unlike using an electric panini press which has heated upper and lower sides so the panini can be cooked without flipping.

Update, 2011 Feb 24: Several commenters wrote and explained that this press is supposed to be pre-heated before you use it so both the top and bottom of the panino (singular of panini) are cooked at the same time. You can pre-heat this press right over the gas flame, on the electric element, or less effectively in the pan before cooking. One commenter said this press is designed for this and Lodge Logic should explain this in their advertising. I want to thank these commenters for explaining this.

I really like this press because it hardly takes up any space, unlike the electric models, and the results are excellent. Also like most (all?) Lodge Logic pans this is made in the USA.

What I do is this: I heat this press up on a separate burner from my Lodge Logic L8SGP3 Pre-Seasoned Square Grill Pan so they are about the same temp (350 degrees). I use an IR thermometer like this one Fluke 62 Mini Infrared Thermometer to determine how hot each piece is and adjust the burners but there are probably other ways to do it. 350 is hot enough to do a decent job grilling but not so hot the seasoning on the pan starts to smoke (that seems to start to happen at around 400 degrees). You could also just heat the press in the pan but the press will not be nearly as hot as the pan in that case so it won't get grilled evenly on both sides. Once to 350 I press the sandwich for about 90 seconds which seems to be a good starting place. Some might like them grilled longer. I do not flip them. I use cooking spray after every use while the pan is still hot which seems to help with the seasoning. I don't have any sticking problems, even when cheese squeezes out.

If you want to make great paninis then buy this press & a Lodge cast iron pan. I use this press daily to reheat sandwiches, and it's excellent. It's made in USA, has an even weight to it, & caring for it is simple. Be sure to read & follow the usage instructions, & you'll have a great tool to use for making awesome sandwiches. I love what it does with grilled cheese. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews because it was worth the money.

I've had this press for a few months now and have gotten a lot of use out of it. I use mine with my Lodge Logic LPGI3 Pro 20-by-10-7/16-Inch Cast-Iron Grill/Griddle. I have a gas stove and let the press heat up over it's own burner while I assemble sandwiches. The handle does get hot but not unmanageable with a good hot pad. Once the sandwiches are assembled, I pop them on the grill pan and add the press. The weight of the press alone is good enough for all but the crustiest bread.

The press is large enough for a good size sandwich but I plan on picking up another so I can make multiple sandwiches at once.

I'd highly recommend this instead of an electric press. You cannot beat the high heat and heat retention of cast iron for a nice crisp sandwich exterior.

A couple of other skewers for sale on here are comparable, but these all steel kebob skewers will allow me to use them both, outside on my grill, and indoors under the broiler of my oven the others I've looked at, and liked, had wooden handles, which make them suitable for use only on outdoor grills.

I researched skewers on Amazon for an hour or so and determined that these are the best skewers available to buy. I bought the 18". After using them 5 times on my grill Weber 4431001 Spirit E-320 Propane Grill, Black I can confirm that they are the best available. I've run them through the dishwasher at least that many times and they don't have one spot of rust. The tips come to a point and are extremely sharp. I've had no problem skewering food onto them.

2 negatives: just like all other skewers, they are a bit flimsy. I can't bend any other stainless steel kitchen products that I have, but I can bend these. Also, they are quite wide, which is great for keeping the food in place, but it causes some vegetables to break in half while I'm trying to skewer them on. I don't think I'd have this problem if they were skinnier, though that would definitely make them flimsy.

I think they have these in the wrong category too. They should be in Patio, Lawn & Garden > Grills & Outdoor Cooking > Barbecue Utensils > Barbecue Skewers. Instead they're only in Patio, Lawn & Garden.

Coleman Camping Coffee Maker

I recently purchased this coffee maker for car camping/mountain biking trips around Wisconsin. I always wished I could have coffee on the mornings that I woke up at the campsite. Percolators do not work well (in my experience) so I had basically given up until I saw one of these at a sporting goods store. I did some review checking online and all I read was good reviews on this particular model (apparently some of the earlier models had some minor issues). It really does work great! I have been using it on my old 2-burner coleman camp stove (coleman fuel) that my dad gave me (it's probably 30 years old). Contrary to what some people have said about it taking a long time to brew, some saying as much as 45 minutes, it took me about 10 minutes to brew a pot of coffee with cold water. I just cranked up the flame to high and it only took a couple mintutes for the water to heat up enough to start making it's way up to the basket and start dripping into the pot. Makes coffee as good as your standard countertop-style coffee maker (slightly larger, maybe, because of the larger base) and practically works the same way. If you want coffee at the campsite I cannot imagine anything better than this.

This coffee maker will make you feel you are home. I use it with a two burner propane stove and after finding the spot where the carafe should sit (the handle must align with two dots market in the surface) is like brewing with a regular coffee maker. Furthermore I did buy it on sale 50% off regular price, at $22.00, I couldn't get a percolator that good. This coffee maker will be perfect for a family camping, not so for backwood camping when you don't need bulky stuff, and won't have to worry of breaking the carafe.

The first two times I tried to use it the coffee did not drip through the filter into the carafe. I finally realized that its "pause and serve lever" is not well designed. At least with my device, when the filter basket is opened and then closed, the "pause and serve" lever does not always line up with the the trap door under the filter basket. So even when the carafe was in place, the trap door was not opening to let the coffee through. Once I figured that out, it worked quite well.

I am a boy scout leader and I camp from 20-30 nights per year. The troop purchased one of these and used it daily for several weekend campouts and week-long summer camp, for a total of about 10 days with an average of 3-4 coffee drinkers. We drink about 2 pots a day (not each).

Durability:

The pot broke right away. We purchased a steel pot.

Plastic around the filter area seems to be brittle...it cracked and a piece broke off.

Cleaning:

The filter basket needs to be easily removable for cleanup. You have to carry the whole unit to your water source to rinse it out. You can take it out, but it requires a multi-tool to do so.

Quality of brew:

Good cup of coffee; just like your drip pot at home.

Speed:

For three consecutive mornings, we conducted a side-by-side field test with an old-fashioned steel percolator pot. Both the Coleman product and the perculator pot had the same amounts of water. Both the Coleman and percolator were lit on the same stove at the same time with the same burner setting. The percolator pot was brought to a boil and perc'ed for 8 minutes. Bottom line, the Coleman product took twice as long to make a pot of coffee.

Overall:

A percolator pot is a better option for camp settings. The Coleman stove drip pot takes longer, is not that durable and takes up more space than an old-fashioned steel percolator pot. Also, the hot surface area (burn potential) is greater for the Coleman product, as the entire bottom section gets hot, as you might expect.

I think the product description and reviews are accurate. It is a nice item that does what it is suppose to. It truly is for the most part non stick, although a little non stick spray for the waffle section is something I would recommend.

While easy to clean, in terms of the mess and grime comes right off even the non stick portions, just stuff gets all over the maker and a little on the counter. Not that any of these makers are different. It though would be nice and for the price that this item had a drip to attach to the bottom to help with this.

I love the omelet section. Omelets come out very nice and for my taste senses significantly better then the pan on the stove method. I have also made a grilled cheese sandwiches which were easier to do and less mess then when done on the stove.

I am very happy I made this purchase and splurged on the second compartment not being a waffle one.

Wolfgang Puck WPCGL050 Tri-Grill Panini Maker with Storage Drawer

If you have not tried one of these muti-purpose portable cookers (if you have you know the speed and ease of cooking any meal is unbelieveable) look no further than this fine unit. Right out of the box you see the quality and thought that went into this product. This is a replacement for my first (different brand panini grill). Differences are unbeliveable; unlike my previous grill this unit grills to perfection, the grease from cooking goes thru the open bottom grill plates, into a removeable tray. All grids are removeable, which is a huge difference (my old unit did not have removeable grids had to clean by hand). It cooks meat, chicken, panini etc perfectly and nearly grease free.P.S.Don't throw out the direction booklet! It has over 20 Wolfgang Puck recipes in it, to use with this grill!Can't say enough.

I was searching for a replacement for my old unit from a different manufacturer that I had loved but is no longer made, and had several requirements:

1. Removable plates

2. An interior drip pan

3. A "floating" top that would allow for even cooking when food is thicker on one end.

4. An adjustable temperature (more than just high/low).

5. A decent sized cooking area.

It is somewhat surprising to me how difficult finding all these on the same unit can be, and this tri-grill does deliver and performs well on each of these items, so for that I'd give it five stars. The reason for me only rating it three is below:

After reading the other reviews here, I was a little nervous about ordering because of the possibility of poor quality. You can imagine my thoughts when I opened the box and out falls a screw! Fortunately, the screw was to hold the lid onto the handle and I was able to reassemble. The other side was very loose too, so I do believe that it can be assumed that these grills are not well built. I cannot help but wonder what is loose on the inside that I don't know about, even though it seems to be working fine. While not totally cheap, the materials do seem slightly on the flimsy side compared to some higher end models, but I think they are acceptable for a $99 price. The exception is the grill plates which I think are very nice and even sturdier than my much loved previous grill.

The grill is attractive, but it is a bit clunky/bulky in size because of the extra griddle plate storage. Its a great idea, but now that I own it, I personally would prefer to have a sleeker unit and have to store the extra plate elsewhere. I also wish the cord was just a little bit longer. The gauges are difficult to read when standing at the counter, I have to bend over and get closer to eye level with it to set. I also wish the gauges had more markings, but that is not a big deal.

Overall, I am happy with the tri-grill. With exception of quality concerns, my complaints with the grill are relatively minor. For me, it isn't going to become my favorite appliance because these complaints are annoyances, but its acceptable and does a very good job at its intended function it does grill well (leaves nice grill marks on the food too).

We searched until we found what looked like the prefect multi-function panini grill. It's a great concept and obviously someone thought of all the possibilities for cooking that it could do. And the storage for the extra plates is brilliant. However, when we took it out of the box, some screws and bolts fell out. Then we noticed that the anchors holding the heating element were loose and dangling. We couldn't put them in because the back, where the bolts went, was inaccessible. A little black rubber part fell out also, and we figured out that it was one of the rubber feet on the bottom, but the other one was missing.

We thought the metal which it was made of was rather thin and flimsy, and it was apparently carelessly assembled. Also, a lot of the parts rattled, making it sound not very sturdy. We are returning it without trying it and getting a refund. But after reading the 5-star review about how well it cooks, we are considering trying another one, just to see if this one was a lemon.

I just threw item this in the trash after a near tragedy. It is made so cheaply that while I was cooking the top plate slid out when the lid was raised. The hot plate fell to the tile floor just missing my feet because I jumped backwards; still holding on to the lid. Mentally picture this with the bare red hot heat coils exposed; the hinge lid unstable and ground beef patties on the bottom plate. Unplugged the unit and cleaned up the mess. The next day my husband looked at the unit and determined that the ONE clip on the front was not securing the top plate properly. There was no way to bend or weld a piece on the clip to make it safe to use. I had even bought the extra waffle plates which was also a waste of money. The Customer Service at the manufacturer was insolent and a letter to the the Wolfgang Puck cookware website was never answered. Please for your safety do NOT buy this appliance!

Lola Jumbo Stainless Steel Scourer

I first saw these many, many years ago by watching the cooks in Chinese take-out places. At the end of cooking dish A, they throw this into the wok, pressing it down with the back of a ladle, and then using the combination to quickly scrub out the wok before moving on to dish B. Note that they come in two sizes; you want this, the Jumbo.

This baby is awesome! Everything else I have used to date degrades over time, and leaves rust stains behind on the sink in the process. This pad is not only holding tough after 3 months (as far as I can tell it hasn't degraded at all), but was also able to clean the rust spots left behind by the others.

Presto 07113 12-inch Electric Foldaway Skillet

I've been using Presto skillets for years and my last one bit it on the move. I decided to try out this new design and I love it! It's much easier to clean and store and the pouring spout makes it super simple to pour out grease when frying bacon. I also love the new clear lid and the spout leaves just enough air space that the lid doesn't just condense liquids and you can still see your cooking. Works like a charm!

The size of this skillet is perfect, not too big but large enough to cook any selection serving from 1-4. It doesn't take up so much space on the cabinet--and although I have space, I don't want one cooking appliance to take up half my counter--this one does not. It heats up quickly, maintains even heat, the lid fits tightly to contain cooking juices and because it keeps in the natural juices from the food, hardly any oil is needed. First time I used it, I put a couple tablespoons of oil (olive in it), it was too much, now I'm down to only a few drops of oil on a dry pan and adding my ingredients--most times I use none at all, the juices from the food is enough. The cooking surface is smooth and slick, no problem with any food sticking. The most enjoyable part however in using this skillet is the clean up. Most times I simply wipe it out with a damp paper towel, it comes clean quickly, however if I need to wash it, having the skillet come off the stand is fantastic--the stand unsnaps quickly from the skillet. This makes cleaning the skillet a breeze--simply remove from the stand, unplug the cord and quickly and easily wash it out under running water and place back on the stand ready for the next use.
