I have never made tortillas before so this is all new to me. I bought one and read the instructions on how to make them. Armed with this info and the other review which suggests cooking them separately, and having seen how Cafe Rio does theirs, I set off on the first batch. The first batch had mixed results, but not bad for first time. The main problem I had was pressing too long and too hard, making it thin and stiff (hard to roll a burrito with a hard shell). This time I did the wheat tortillas (recipe included with the owner's manual) and all of them turned out. The actual press time was less than 10 seconds and included flipping it.

I am really impressed with the non-stick coating. It really does not need any coating on it (even though the manufacturer recommends it) because the tortillas simply will not stick. I center them (after the first press the ball dough will sometimes slide a little because of the slick surface), flip them, and take them out all without a spatula.

Perhaps one thing I do which also helps is that I start the dough off in a bread maker and let it do the kneading for about 10 minutes then form into balls and let them rest for 30 minutes. But as far as being a difficult machine to use I have not found this to be the case just follow the instructions.

I noticed that several reviews indicated that users were using this machine to both press and cook their tortillas. This machine works in the same way as the 3000 dollar tortilla press except no automatic operation, that said a tortilla press needs to be hot to keep the tortilla from shrinking, however the tortilla needs to be finished cooking on a griddle for best results.

This is better than any other tortilla or roti maker I have tried. Its bigger and also heavier which reduces the amount of pressure one needs to apply to make flat thin perfect leveled round rotis. I primarily got it to make Rotis. 1 drawback that i did notice is that it does not heat up a lot which ends up taking longer to make the rotis which means slightly drier rotis. So I might try something which can heat up more which I will do rather reluctantly because this is the sturdiest roti maker I have ever come across. Rotis are different as after pressing them down to shape we really should cook on these electric roti makers just like a Tawa or Pan . Pressing them again and again will only make them harder and rubbery. I suggest for 1st timers to search youtube for videos. They are full of them. Thats how I got it right. That said, I dont think the tortilla makers roti can ever compare to the conventional method. If you rate the conventional rotis as a 9 or 10 /10. I would give this a 6/10. But for the sheer convenience of sitting on a chair watching T.V making these rotis in an air conditioned room without sweating it out in the heat of the flame I would give it a 9 / 10.

My wife and I are trying to get away from wheat (after buying "wheat belly" from Amazon) and had a hard time finding corn based flatbreads where we shop.

So we bought the Cucina pro piece. We had a little trouble at first but learned to press slowly on the unformed breads until they are flat. AND we learned to let the dough get to room temp at least before cooking. A hot cooking surface and a cold dough makes a real mess.

After trying home-made tortillas by rolling them out by hand, we loved the taste, but I couldn't spend another hour of rolling for 12 tortillas. So, hubby found this great product. I started it today and after a few failures from pressing too hard and long, I made 36 in about 20 minutes! I made whole wheat ones and they turned out great. I cut the tortillas into triangles and baked on low heat to make tortillas chips. They kids loved them, also! A high recommendation on this!

This cleaning agent works miracles! Our tile floor was very dirty and somehow other cleaning agents could not clean it. This one could. Conclusion: if you need a cleaning product that cleans well and you don't mind too much about its ingredients, take this one: it cleans well. However, if you care about your (family's) health, you may want to get a different cleaning product.

I searched the cleanser shelves at the local discount store for a product to clean walls. My pocket book loved the sticker price, but I was taking a risk. I didn't want to start cleaning my apartment walls only to return for a stronger product. This product is absolutely unbelievable. It is bottled in a spray bottle, which worked quite well. For the area I could not reach near the ceiling I sprayed the area and used a sponge mop. I am extremely pleased. Note, this product recommends fresh air during your cleaning. I will never dread cleaning walls, ever again.

A friend of mine cleans rental properties and couldn't say enough about this stuff along with how cheap it was. After finding a bottle at Walmart I decided to give it the ultimate test-the gas grill. I have a small Weber and the lid and handles get pretty greasy. This stuff melted it right off. After a little brushing with a kitchen brush, nothing strenuous, I hosed of the grill and it was better looking than it has been in ages.

I've also used it on stuff stored in my damp basement with similar results. If you can't find this stuff at your local Dollar Store or Walmart don't hesitate to order online. It's well worth it.

This product really is AWESOME!!! I recently moved into a new apartment and the previous tenant left a bottle of this stuff under the kitchen sink. I ran out of the other cleaning products I had bought and decided to give this a shot before running out to buy more. Wow was this stuff powerful! It took what was probably about 10 years of built-up grease and dirt off the blades of the ceiling fan with just a spray, before even wiping it off! This cut through grease build up on the walls and cabinets around the stove like it was nothing. It tremendously cut down the amount of heavy scrubbing I had to do. I used it on the grout on the kitchen floor: The previously grey grout is back to white and looks almost new. It cut through soap scum in the shower too. I am going to use this on everything (as soon as I buy some more)!!!!

One bad thing I did notice was that this probably isn't the best thing to use on painted surfaces. I used it on a surface that had been painted white and my water that I rinsed the rag in was a bit chalky-looking, leading me to believe it was taking off the paint.

This product is very useful around the house. I have never found another cleaner that works as well. It has removed Ink stains, blood stains, grease and oil, coffee stains. I use it in my Bissel carpet shampooer it's the best carpet cleaner I have ever tried. I use it to pre treat laundy stains. Diluted with about 95% water it is a great all around general purpose spray cleaner. I use the diluted spray to clean glass and it has never looked cleaner. I was so satisfied with mine for the first month that I purchased one form my dad as well. About a year later all eight of the probes we had between the two of us are no longer functioning. I bought this set for Tailgating with a group of friends and got pretty much the reaction I thought I would. Lots of ooohs, aaahs and a couple of wise @ss comments about the shiny case. When I told them the price everyone pretty much shut immediately up. (It's a lot lower than they expected)

The Philippe Richard 12-Piece Barbecue Set comes with everything I needed to make a nice big meal in a parking lot. The spatula is nice and broad, the tongs are well constructed and have a great edge for gripping the food. (Boneless Pork Ribs were handled easily and chicken was a breeze) The case is strong, attractive and well constructed. The straps used to hold the tools in place seemed a little light and flimsy, but for the price I can't really complain. I used the basting brush quite a lot and saw no bristle loss, something I have pretty much come to expect from tools in this price range. My one complaint is that the brush was not well seated when shipped from the factory and the bristles were all bent to a forty five degree angle at about the mid point of the brush. This actually made it easier to scoop up extra sauce, but spreading it took a little extra effort.

Quick comment to those folks who gave this set a low rating because it might damage your propane, non-stick covered grills. THIS SET IS MADE OF METAL!!!! Of course you are going to scratch the non-stick material off your little cooking stoves. Buy some plasticware and stop whining! As a charcoal purist I can say that people with real grills will love this set. I plan on getting one of those Fire and Ice or Coleman stoves either for Christmas or next year to use along with my wrought iron hibachi style charcoal grill, but I will obtain and use the right tools with it.

This looked like a pretty kewl piece of gadgetry when I looked at it on line. I was going to buy this for myself but ended up putting it on my wishlist and then receiving it as a gift.

As it turns out, the case is not as swanky as it's online picture would have you think. It's not made of aluminum but has thin aluminum sheets with a prickly texture glued to it's sides(mine aren't glued very well either). The tools seem to be ok, but I don't expect that the case will hold up for very long. Maybe this is worth 20 bucks, but surely not more than that in my opinion.

Maybe my standards are set too high?

I was disappointed in the quality of the tools and case. Handles on the tools are easily pulled off. The tools themselves, however, do feel sturdy. The metal case is cheap feeling. The tools are held in the case with Velcro and most of the Velcro fasteners were separated from the case

I bought this cuz it was only $, expecting to use it only occasionally. I ended up using it for dinner 4 times a week!

PROS: With a small cooking surface, it is perfect for single servings (or picky family members with different dinner preferences.) It cooks chicken and fish very quickly. No more than 5 or 6 minutes for a thawed chicken breast; less for fish fillets. I find steak to be juicier and more tender than frying or broiling.

Kinda easy to clean. Just wipe with a couple paper towels. When cool, clean around the rest of the components.

CONS: Small cooking surface. The cord is short. And, except for the plastic handle, it gets VERY HOT so you cannot move it or turn it around when hot. Depending on what you are cooking, the drip cup may need emptying during the cooking process, which can be messy.

Sandwiches do not brown well, due to the height of the internal grids.

I've never owned a George Foreman grill, but if I were to believe the the reviews, then this grill is pretty decent in comparison, and much cheaper.

You can grill slices of meat, sandwiches, burgers, whatever. I used to have to cook things like frozen fishsticks, chicken tenders, and tator tots to feed this kid, and instead of using my oven, I used this. My frozen foods are usually cooked to crispy perfection at the time it takes to preheat my oven. It's kinda small though so you'll have to grill your burgers one at a time and despite the picture at the top, you probably won't be able to do kabobs. I love toasting my sandwiches on this thing and getting stripey grill marks. And I love watching all the fat drip off my meat and into the tray below.

Downsides include cleaning. The grill plates don't detach, and you're not allowed to submerge the thing in water, so that means you have to wipe the grill off carefully with soapy water while it's still warm before the fat coagulates. Then you have to wash the soap off and try not to wet the undetachable wire at the same time. Kinda tricky.

Not a bad little grill if you're just making a snack or a sandwich but it's damned hard to clean since the plates aren't removable. If you're thinking about buying this to make burgers or anything else that requires actual cleaning (as opposed to just wiping the grill plates off) you probably want to keep looking.

I really like this little grill. It's very small, so it doesn't take up much room on the counter. But it cooks very nicely. I've cooked chicken, steak, pork chops and vegetables and it does a good job on everything.

I received this as a gift in 2006 and use it several times a week. It still heats up just as hot as the first day I used it! I'd rather grill Chicken breasts and salmon on this than go to a restaurant and it only takes a few minutes. Grilled vegetables also turn out nicely. I haven't tried making sandwiches on this grill.

PROS: The small cooking surface takes up very little counter space and is perfect for one or two people. It cooks quickly and evenly. I find cleanup to be really easy.

CONS: The unit does not have an on/off switch, so I sometimes get a little spark when I plug it in. It also has a rather short cord. The drip cup is not large enough. I have replaced mine with an empty frozen food tray which fits nicely under the feet catches all the fat and never touches the grill so there is no risk of overheating or melting the tray.

The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is because of no on/off switch, and I can't make pancakes on it.

So if you are measuring grill temp and meat temp you can't set

2 different alarm temps.

This unit works much better and is more flexible (with the previously mentioned desire)

We have owned this thermometer for four or five years and have found it to be very reliable. The only thing I wish it had was another "Custom" setting that you could enter the perameters for. For instance, say you want something to be done at 125 degrees. You could set it up to show you that. Yes, you can pick a certain meat temp. that closely matches your temp. and that works too. I think this is a great piece of equipment and I wouldn't be without it, especially when grilling/smoking a large turkey in the cold New England weather!

If there was a zero star rating, that is what I would have selected.... Do NOT waste your money on this product. I purchased it and it worked once out of the box second time (week later) it wouldn't sync. Zero degrees. Had to go back to old manual probe. This product was a waste of time and money. ACE coming back this weekend to return it for my money back!

Two models just went to HH. This unit is totally useless. The ACE help doesn't know what this means and just says return it. There probably is a manufacturing problem with a batch if other people are having the sane problem
