I have a new Wolf dual fuel with a double griddle we use all the time. It just drove me crazy that Bar Keepers friend, vinegar and water, and many other methods would not clean our griddle surface. This product is amazing. You just heat your griddle and pour the yellow packet 'Quick Clean Liquid' on the warm surface and it just eats all the residue off. You many not even need to scrub. The instructions say to use the entire packet of the 'Quick Clean Liquid', but even with my double griddle, it was way too much. I would only use a half packet for the double griddle surface and a 1/4 for a single griddle (for home use). Your griddle surface will look like the day you bought it with ZERO elbow grease. The manufacturer states you are really supposed to 'season' your griddle and not clean it to where the stainless is shining. I am a clean freak and can't take it for long. I clean our griddle about every other month depending on usage. I have tried everything and this product is it!

I don't like a dirty griddle. I cook and entertain with the range as a center piece. Similar to a Japanese steak house. Guests are not attracted to a well seasoned looking griddle. They just think it's dirty and wince at eating food cooked on it.

The Scotch Brite quick clean griddle system does what it says. Very easy to clean your griddle as advertised. This is an industrial product for sure. You simply will not believe your eyes. What's better, I can understand the label! It's well refined sodium! Not poison... It cleans like the product should be banned from the planet so don't think it's weak.

It does easily strip the seasoning so you'll need to practice or experiment with

oils, shortening, butter, vegalene, whatever. They clean the grill to a sparkle every day at my work and they have mastered the art of a quick season, Nothing sticks, not even omelet's. (after you master the art of quick seasoning)

Even if you only use this after a fish dinner, get it. You will not believe how easy it will clean that grill to a sparkle.

Works like a charm on a Viking residential stove with griddle. Our griddle is the Viking small size that sits between two gas burners on each side. We have used our griddle on a regular basis and only cleaned it by using a scraper. I always considered the griddle well seasoned and not in need of cleaning, but my better half insisted. I've been looking into cleaning solutions for the last year but have hesitated because it seems a little pricy to me. Went ahead and ordered this and in 15 minutes the griddle looked like new. The cleaning solution is poured onto he hot griddle. It bubbles up and with some moderate scrubbing with the scrubbing pad, the solutions makes a black paste with the griddle grime. Then you scrape that mess off the griddle into the grease drain and with a couple of passes with the squeegee, our griddle was silver colored again. Like I said, 15 minutes and it was clean. Just wish it was cheaper. I only used 3/4 of the solution in the cleaning packet and saved the rest. I will probably use 1/2 of it for annual or every 6 month cleaning.

this product delivered on its promise of cleaning my Wolf griddle back to close to new condition. I worked exactly as claims said it would. I turned on the ventiliation fan before starting so no fumes or smells were an issue.

Dualit Professional Mini Oven

Dualit Professional Mini OvenI have a Dualit Classic Toaster. It's built like a tank-good fit and finish with quality materials.

This Dualit Mini Oven is nothing like the Classic Toaster.

It feels/looks very cheap and lightweight. The door is flimsy. The sheet metal case is very shiny and wafer thin-flexing easily.

Materials, fit and finish are generally disappointing-sharp unfinished edges, cock-eyed screws, misaligned panels etc

Very poor quality for a $250 toaster oven. Looks more like a $30 oven

If you are expecting the same build quality as the Dualit Classic Toaster [and at this price/$250, I think that's reasonable] it is very disappointing

I recently ordered and received a Duolit Mini Oven. This is my second Duolit oven, my earlier unit is about five years old and I am pleased with it. I ordered this new Duolit for my mother who has eyesight issues and not adept with push-button digital electronic controls. I chose a Duolit because it has simple control knobs appropriate for a mini-oven (toaster oven). The oven received is their "new" model. I find its sheet metal work inferior to the one I have in use. The control knobs no longer use text and they are no longer marked with high contrast labels. Instead, Duolit has chosen icons and the markings are of lower contrast. Given the hefty price over other toaster-ovens I expected better exterior cabinetry. The new knobs are not useful with people with low vision. It seems Duolit has followed the maxim, "if it ain't broke, fix it till it is".

We decided to replace our $250 Breville oven that died in less than 6 month and Breville refused to honor their 1 year warranty, leaving us without an oven and $250 less. The replacement arrived yesterday and my wife wiped it gently before it's 1st use. That caused one of silicone bumpers on the inside of door to pop out and disappear somewhere in our kitchen. By the way, brilliant engineers at Dualit (England) still not aware of these bumpers that were designed to soften door closure. How do I know that? I wrote 2 emails to Dualit and they were not able to "find" these inserts. But wait, it gets better! The tiny graphic icons on middle knob (4) require a help from the manual. No way a consumer can figure out 2 out 4 symbols without reaching for the clue book. Then there's the Timer knob. It starts with 30 min. after 0. I re-read the manual a few times to figure out how to toast a slice of bread. They recommend the highest temp. setting and the highest shelf position. There's no hint or indication how long it may take to get to , say, medium toast setting. The distance between Start and 30 minutes on a dial is too small to gauge where approx. 3-4 minutes may be. That shouldn't be the case for a $250 oven! Anyhow, my toast came out charred on top (too close to top element) and not done on bottom. But wait, there's more! Immediately after this "test" one of heavy gauge wires came undone from chrome plated wire shelf!!! Perhaps this job was subcontracted to one of idling British car factories? We will return this jink to the store but still not sure what to get instead...

Emile Henry Flame Top Round Ovens

Emile Henry Flame Top 2.6 Quart Round Oven, FigueMy wife and I bought the Emile Henry Flame Top 5.5 quart dutch oven to make the Jim Lahey no-knead breads. We had tried making his recipes with other baking equipment and were unable to achieve a dark, crisp crust. Using this pot took care of the problem. We've also used it to make some one-pot dinners. Pot roast, using the Joy of Cooking recipe, came out great. As with the bread, we had this dish using other cookware, but it took a dutch oven with a tight-fitting lid to get it right. We also used it for onion soup, carmelizing onions and leeks in the dutch oven, then adding hot stock. Tasted great, and cleanup was minimal, as nothing sticks to this pot and it cleans up beautifully in the dishwasher.

When the pot first arrived, my wife thought it would be too big and heavy for her to handle, but it has not been a problem. In fact, we chose this dutch oven over cheaper ones because it is half the weight of pots made with cast iron. Since it is so large, we keep it on a stand in our breakfast nook. With the beautiful cobalt glaze, it is practically a work of art.

After reading another reviewer's comment about problems with boiled-over milk that stuck to the outside of the pot during the breaking-in process, we followed the directions to the letter, watched the milk carefully and had no problems.

Instructions recommend heating milk in the pan prior to first use. I wasn't watching and boiled milk over pan. It stuck to the pan like glue and was hard to remove with soaking and scrubbing. Watch the pot when heating the milk!

Since that first cleaning, the pan is amazingly easy to clean, heats very quickly and evenly and makes gorgeous no knead breads. On top of that, the pan is a thing of beauty and not near as heavy as the currently popular enameled pans or my regular cast iron.

I was a little on the edge about buying a clay pot for stove top use, however I am very pleased with the purchase and look forward to adding more of these beautiful and well made pots to my kitchen. The color is a deep purple that has add the typical blacking of enamel at the base from regular usage. In this case it makes the pot even more remarkable in coloring. What I like the most about the pot is that it can go in the oven, fridge or microwave as well as on top of the stove. I have not put this in the dishwasher as I have heard from others that this shortens the life span of the pot and I wish to have this beautiful for as long as possible.

Char-Broil Pro-Sear Adjustable Porcelain Grid

Char-Broil 3585138 Pro-Sear 21-Inch Adjustable Porcelain GridWhen the cooking surface of our grill got rusty I went to the grill's website to get a replacement. Unfortunately they did not have one for our model so I came looking on amazon.com. This adjustable grid was perfect, and it was shipped quickly with great packaging care. It was easy to adjust and fits perfectly. The smooth surface is easy to clean and maintain. I'd recommend this to anyone.

In the product details, it says that this grate is 14.2 x 25 x 0.7 inches. However, when the product arrived, it would not fit in my grill so I measured it and found it to be 25.5 inches wide. After measuring it, I noticed it clearly states on the label that it is 14.5 x 25.5 inches. The dimensions listed here are not correct.

The adjustable porcelain grid is not perfect, but it does work and is surprising steady. It has given my sister's 1960's charcoal grill new life and an extended lifetime. The original grid was down to wire thickness after over fifty years of use.

I recommend this product, but purchasing it as a replacement is still an order and hope it fits/works process. I wish the product description and photos were more detailed to ensure it will work as a replacement grid before ordering.

First, if you want it to adjust in two directions, get the GrillPro 50335 Porcelain Coated Cooking Grid or a similar item. I'm not sure why people think this adjusts in two directions. You can clearly see the adjustable end in the photo, and according to the product descriptions it "FITS castings 25-1/2-Inch to 29-1/2-Inch wide. Sidebars TELESCOPE from 14-1/4-Inch to 16-3/4-Inch for ideal fit." So if your grate width is 27.5", you will have about a 1" gap on either end (assuming it's centered) or if it's pushed to one side or the other, a 2" gap. My grill is 24.5" wide, so I had to get the 21" model. I do have the gaps on the side but it's not a big deal. The adjustable bar works great. I could see a stability problem if it's extended to the max. I have no problem with food sticking (if it's seared properly), easy to clean, and no chipping or rust to date. I've had it almost 3 years, and it's been used a lot. It's not the most amazing grate in the world that's why it's $18 but for $18 it's great.

Update 12-2012: It finally started showing wear and rusting. I got a new grate that was designed for my grill and saved this one as a spare for whatever reason. This made the rusting worse so I trashed this one. It was good while it lasted and still worth the money.

I returned this item. Although it appeared to be well-made, it did not fit my space. Essentially, the item is 25" x 14". Only the 14" side is adjustable, and if you adjust to a larger size, the additional space is unusable.

The description of the dimensions and picture were somewhat lacking when I ordered this item. I think they have since been improved. Read the other reviews carefully to see if it will fit your space. I was looking for something to fit my unusual built-in grill which measures 25 x 21. This didn't work.

Taylor Professional 9306 Dual Temp IR/Thermocouple Thermometer

Taylor Professional 9306 Dual Temp IR/Thermocouple ThermometerA fast-reading thermometer probe is essential for grilling and roasting, and this one works as well as any I have tried, equilibrating in a couple of seconds. Except for getting the temperature of boiling water right on, I have not checked their accuracy claims, but the probe is certainly accurate enough for kitchen use, and given that the readings come from a thermocouple, I would expect the probe measures to be good within a degree or so, maybe better. Taylor is a leading maker of both scientific and consumer temperature-measuring devices or all kinds, so also I would expect the circuitry and durability will be good.

The thing that distinguishes the Taylor from the popular and similarly priced Thermapen, though, is the infrared thermometer. This function reads the surface temperature of objects using IR (heat radiation). For cooks, the main use is to check the temperature of preheated frypans, woks, etc., a function I find myself using at least as often as I use the probe. With a little experimentation, you can figure out the ideal temperature for browning meat, sweating vs. browning onions, or cooking pancakes, stirfries, etc. This makes it much easier to avoid either steaming food you meant to caramelize or burning your good olive oil and smoking up the kitchen. The IR function is not perfect, however. It defaults to a reading simply of "high" somewhere around 500 degrees F., which is not high enough for blackened fish or many wok applications. A more serious limitation is that it does not read effectively off of highly reflective surfaces, such as most stainless cookware, presumably because the probe also reads the temperature of whatever cool surface you see in the reflection. The IR function has worked well with all of the cast iron, anodized aluminum, and non-stick cookware I have tried, and I would expect it to be useful on most dark surfaces. I have no idea how accurate the readings are, but they give about the right melting and smoking temperatures for butter and oils, so they are probably good enough for cooking. Instrument-grade IR thermometers often read much higher temperatures and are probably more accurate. I don't know whether they would also work better with stainless skillets.

Although the Taylor is more expensive than less capable meat thermometers, the combination of fast and accurate probe readings and the ability to calibrate pan-cooking temperatures should make it appealing to serious home cooks.

I really like this product. It has a nice solid compact feel, the buttons are ambidextrous (though a little easier to use correctly in the right hand), its water proof, easy to clean, etc. The probe tip seems to be the same size as most of the other thermocouple thermometers (3mm diameter with a reduced 2mm tip that is 10mm long.

It seems to be fairly accurate, the probe shows the temp of boiling water around 211 and took less then 2 seconds to go from 65 to 211 which is really fast. The infrared part of it is a little harder to gauge. I pointed it at a few things along with my MicroTemp Pro and the Pro normally showed a few deg hotter then the Taylor. Nether gauged boiling water very well since it is "clear". I can't really find anything else that I know should have a defined temp to test it on. But the infrared is really only useful for measuring things like frying pans and the inside of your oven, neither of which require single degree accuracy. The other really (ok relatively) cool thing is they included a built in led light along with the infrared thermometer, while meant for aiming, this is also nice for checking things in a dark oven.

I have never used the Thermapen, which seems to be its chief competition. I could see where the Thermapen could be simpler to use since it is just a probe, and a little easier to read since it has just the temp on its display. But neither of those things seem to much of a draw back vs a built in infrared thermometer for about the same price.

I received this thermometer as a gift, 2 years ago, when I had asked for a digital instant-read thermometer. Unfortunately the well-meaning gift-giver was not a chef, and chose this one based on marketing hype. It works as advertised, but the display faces the WRONG WAY. It looks like it should work, at first, but as soon as the probe is unfolded, it faces you, forcing you to hold the unit as though you were going to stab yourself instead of the expected probe-out position.

Uh, sorry, that's dead wrong. I do NOT want to hold my arm over the boiling liquid, steaming oven pan, or whatever. It is inconvenient and unpleasant at a minimum; downright dangerous at worst. The display needs to face sideways (as it does on the Thermapen competitor). I've tried to like this unit--after all, it was given with love--but every time I use it, this one problem drives me nuts. I can't believe that anyone with serious kitchen experience was consulted as to the design.

Net: save yourself the hassle and potential injury by getting the Thermapen for the same price.

Works, and is consistent which is more than I can say for any cheaper IR thermometers I've tried. Used it for tempering chocolate, and the IR reading was the same temp as the probe every time. Very convenient for chocolate use. The probe will resolve to a temp within a couple seconds of inserting it, and the IR is pretty much an instant read. Love it.

Want Taylor Professional 9306 Dual Temp IR/Thermocouple Thermometer Discount?

I bought this one because it has dual readings and was told it took readings as quick as 3 seconds.Don't get me wrong this is a good product but, I'm a chef and two of my coworkers have the Thermopen. The thermopen takes readings almost instantly kicking the crap out of my Taylor 9306. My Taylor 9306 has never taken a temp in 3 seconds. my advice is if you work as a chef/cook and need temps really fast spend the extra money on the thermopen. If not this a good product and has worked correctly every time it just takes at least 10 seconds to get your final temp from the probe. The surface temp reader is accurate and instant.

George Foreman GR0038W Champ 36-Square-Inch Nonstick Grill

George Foreman GR0038W Champ 36-Square-Inch Nonstick GrillI loved my old Foreman grills, the original models from the 90's. The smallest ones lasted for a few years at least. I had stopped using Foreman grills for several years but recently decided to pick up a new one for its convenience.

This product is garbage. Within a week of use the teflon started to come off while it cooked. Steam stained the sides of the white cover a nauseating cigarette-burn brown in a few days. The tiniest of circle pins keeps the hinge barely secured, that fell off and disappeared. A month and a half after buying it, this Foreman grill is cooking my chicken a shade of teflon grey.

The Foreman grills are super convenient and excellent for those with little time to cook & clean. But maybe the other models have a little more effort put into their construction. Do some research, don't just jump on the least expensive model. This basic grill is worthless compared to how they used to be made.

After using an older model Foreman Grill (GR8) at the office, I recently picked up a GR0038W at my local department store. The price at the store was almost the same as what it is currently listed for on Amazon. So far, I have been pleased with it. I only wish the cooking surfaces were somehow removable to make cleanup easier... I know some of the more expensive models have this option (GRP4, GRP90WGR, GRP99, etc). It does take some effort to clean up, but I don't think it takes any more time than brushing the grate on my gas grill, removing the gas tank, and rolling the grill back into the garage. The cooking surface is approximately 7-3/8" x 6", minus the corner radius in the back. The power cord is approximately 2' long. My grill came with a small plastic tray to catch the juices that run off of the meat, a grooved plastic scraper for scraping the cooking surface, and a black/blue grooved sponge for clean up. I've made hot-dogs & hamburgers in it so far and have found the recommended cook times provided in the manual to be accurate. The box my grill came in indicates that the product was made in China. So far, I've found it a very nice little grill that's a great alternative to firing up my gas grill in the back yard for small grilling jobs. Because I just got the grill, I can't speak to its long-term durability but, if starts to fall apart, I'll be sure to provide an update. So far, I've been happy for the price.

Edit (07/28/2012): I've had this grill for a little over a year and am still pleased with it. Because the top is white, it does yellow from use; however, I have had no problems with the Teflon coating coming off. It still works just as well today as the day I bought it. (Cleanup gets easier with practice.)

This grill does very well for me. I've used it for hamburger, steak, and fish. My only complaint is cleaning it is generally more time consuming than just using a frying pan.

I've had no problem with the construction of the grill, and I've been using it daily for the last 2 months. No issues with the non-stick coating coming off either.

I use this everyday. I'm a college student thats always on the go. It cooks full meals for me in 10 mins with a dry rub on something. Sick. You NEED to use aluminum foil on it though. If you don't use the foil, you'll get the stains and its an extreme hassle to clean. Basically lay the foil over it completely, bend it to the form the grille, USE PAM OR BUTTER, AND ALOT OF IT. Done cooking? Throw the foil out... No mess, healthy food, cooked fast. WIN.

I bought this about a month ago since I'm starting a new diet and generally want to enjoy my meats without it sitting in it's fat.

This cooks all sorts of meat nicely, but the cleanup is a bit of a pain. I didn't know that there were some models with removable plates etc. Next time I will get that one because scrubbing the grill is time consuming and I never feel like doing it. lol I agree with the other poster, cleaning a pan is probably easier, but I will continue to cook with my GF Grill because it cooks the meat FAST and it's healthier (I also don't need to babysit my food when on the GFG like I would with a pan etc).

Will keep my eye open for a better one on sale soon.

BergHOFF 11-Inch Scala Frying Pan with Ceramic Coating

BergHOFF 11-Inch Scala Frying Pan with Ceramic CoatingI wanted to try a pan with ceramic coating so selected this one because it was a good size and was on sale. I love this pan. It is perfect. Food doesn't stick and it washes very easily. I would recommend this pan to others.

The non-stick coating seems much less likely to become damaged in normal use than is the case with standard 'Teflon' non-stick pans . The ceramic non-stick is very effective and the pan always cleans easily. The metal base to the handle becomes very hot in use but, other than that, this pan is perfect.

Like some of the other reviewers here, I was very excited about this pan. It worked beautifully the first few weeks that I had it. Food would slide right off. Then almost overnight, food started sticking to the pan. Now a third of my food stays attached to the pan!

This is in spite of treating the pan very carefully. I have Calphalon non-stick pans and they are still going strong after 2 years, so this is quite unacceptable quality

It seems that they have had a lot of complaints about this, because on their website they have a disclaimer that food sticking to the pan is not covered by warranty. Really? The product description spends a lot of time touting the benefits of the non-stick coating clearly deceptive marketing.

Also, as another reviewer mentions, the helper handle gets very hot. I burnt my fingers the first time that I tried to lift a full pan off the range with both hands. The handle is loose and rotates easily.

If you are looking for a non-stick pan, look elsewhere. This pan can only lead to frustration and pain!

I'm sorry to say I have several things against it. The helper handle gets HOT despite statement that it does not--I have burnt myself on it. That helper handle is one of the reasons I bought the skillet. The metal part between the skillet and the long handle gets HOT and burns skin. The long handle tends to come unscrewed--not funny when holding a hot skilletful of hot food.... The sloped-out side prevents the food from being turned easily--the food just climbs up the side. The sloped-out side is a pain because it is so hard to dish up anything--it goes up the side instead of on the turner or spoon. Disappointed in the finish--I was excited to try this new porcelain material, but it is not holding up very well.

Swissmar Borner V-Prep Mandoline V-5000, 7 Piece Set

Swissmar Borner V-Prep Mandoline V-5000, 7 Piece SetI had the original V-slicer, but the ex-wife took it. I shopped around for a replacement, but could not find anything that really would replace my V-slicer but this. It is almost Identical to the V, but has a slightly less sturdy frame unless you put it on the included holder. Then, it works like the original (which gets excellent reviews) but has a place to catch the food and associated juices. The non-slip rubber pads on the holder work great, and eliminated the one problem I had with the original that it would slide around.

If you get this, just remember that it is the speed, not the force with which you slice, that makes all the difference.

I bought this slicer because of all the great reviews it had. And it is an excellent slicer. I bought this model since it had the catch container. This works perfectly with the slicer. The slicer fits into grooves on the container and with the rubber pieces on the bottom, it doesn't move at all. In fact, when I was done with it I tried to push it out of the way. Forget it. It just won't slide; which is a good thing.

I have tried it using fruit and veg's and it works beautifully. Nice uniform pieces. Used the julienne attachments and they were perfect. You do need to keep moving the produce with the holder and do NOT go too slow, especially when using the thick side. If you go to slow the produce will get hung up on the blade. Just keep it moving at a steady pace.

The one thing that does annoy me however is the absence of a blade guard. This whole unit stores in the container with a lid which is great, BUT when it is sitting around or especially after you just washed it, that blade is open and dangerous. If you are not aware, you could easily grab it out of the drain board and do some real damage. Every single model SHOULD have a blade guard to protect you. That is why I took off 1 star.

One other note Amazon said this was in stock yet they took 3 days to ship it. Why? I have dealt with Amazon for years and have ALWAYS had great service with shipping. Another product I ordered, they did the same thing. Why waiting so long until shipping out?

Buy Swissmar Borner V-Prep Mandoline V-5000, 7 Piece Set Now

I recently moved into my first apartment. Well, it is still run by the University, but at least I have my own kitchen. This seemed like a good addition for when I have to slice or dice a fair amount of food stuffs at least until my knife skills get better.

First, the pros. The blades are sharp. As long as you move in a fast, consistent motion, you might wonder if there is any resistance at all. That's been my experience with vegetables and potatoes, anyway, which is what this was made to cut. Cheese is a different matter. That is too soft and sticky. The bin catches everything easily, so there are no worries there.

Next, the stuff that takes some getting used to. The washing is generally easy, but there are a couple of support braces on the bottom that are not sell positioned, so cleaning the bottom of the main blade takes some work. Also, using the hand guard takes some practice. It is easy to push the item off the pins before it is necessary, which leads to inadequate support of the food item while cutting. That item can be pulled out of the guard while there is plenty left to cut. It is equally easy not to apply enough pressure and have the remainder of the food item inside the guard while you go through the motion but don't cut anything at all. Once you figure out the right amount of pressure, the guard provides safe operation that barely wastes anything at all.

Now for the unfortunate. When I was looking into Swissmar Borner, I saw some promotional videos (I think on their website) that showed the ability to adjust the height. This model does not have that. There are a few different inserts with different heights, but that is the extent of the possible adjustments. You can do thin slices, thick slices, thick fries, or thin fries. You can dice by cutting the item while it is still on the guard. It would be nice to be able to choose multiple thicknesses for different prep work. The other con is that you have to create your own angle. If you look at other mandolines, you will see many of them are angled, which seems more natural to me at least in some circumstances. This item sits horizontal on top of its bin.

In all, the device is fast and easy to use. It is just missing some of the bells and whistles that I would have preferred.

Read Best Reviews of Swissmar Borner V-Prep Mandoline V-5000, 7 Piece Set Here

I've had a couple of mandolines in the past, and my experience was that they were super cheap and didn't work at all. They were complete piles of junk, and dangerous because they didn't cut well, causing it to stick and your hand to slip.

This one slices extremely well, it's almost scary. When I first got it, I did a trial slice of a red potato. I didn't think it was working properly because there was no force needed at all. I looked down and half the potato was sliced already. When I say no force needed, I don't mean a little force, or hardly any force. I mean it felt like nothing was happening.

I got this because I recently purchased a dehydrator, and need thin, even slices of food. This definitely does the trick. It's pretty well made, has enough attachments to do any thickness I want, and has the julienne slicers at two thicknesses.

The thick straight slice is great for just about anything, and the thin slicer is paper thin. Super thin red onions are great for pizzas, sandwiches, or salads. I am pretty decent with a knife, but I can't slice this thin.

Although the manual specifically warns against it, I tried out the 'spin it 90 degrees' trick to see if it would dice, and it definitely works. Pull it back over the julienne prongs, then twist it, then go down, repeat... Perfect little cubes.

Try dicing an onion like that with the smallest julienne attachment... tiny little onion cubes, works GREAT in meatloaf.

The hand guard thing works pretty well, and normally I feel pretty confident with it.. however I was slicing bananas, and they were just too squishy to use the hand guard. I started doing it without the guard, got distracted for a split second, and almost took off the tip of my finger. Two weeks and about 12 fingertip bandages, and it still looks pretty bad.

It's pretty obvious, but this thing is sharp! If you're an easily distracted monkey like me, don't try to do bananas without the guard. I ended up buying Chef'n Bananza Banana Slicer specifically for that purpose. I'm a musician, so would prefer to keep my fingertips.

Anyway, with more solid foods (onions, potatoes, apples, whatever...) it works very well and is very secure.

The fact that it's self contained and has a tray to catch the food, with a lid, is great.

I'm super happy with this slicer.

Want Swissmar Borner V-Prep Mandoline V-5000, 7 Piece Set Discount?

I've had my v-slicer more than ten years. Maybe fifteen. Maybe twenty. I bought it from a professional demonstrator many years ago and her parting words to me after purchasing were, "Be careful. It's really sharp. Always use the handle."

I own cutting boards, all manner of great knives, a cuisinart, a bamix, a vitamix, Chef Harvey's swiss peeler/slicer, and the fabulous "eat more vej-a-table NOW" plastic slicer sold at the Orange County Swap meet for years in the 90's for $19.99 ("and one penny for me make TWENTY DOLLA!")

While I love all my kitchen gadgets, I use the V-slicer the most for slicing/dicing veggies. It's the quickest, easiest to clean, most handy to grab, and does the best overall job on veggies like carrots, celery, cucumbers, (some) tomatoes, apples, potatoes...any firm fruit or vegetable. Makes preparing a good salad easy and fun. And I've taught my young teens to use it too, so I understand that it can be awkward if one doesn't understand how it works.

Pros:

* Versatile. Offers thin & thick slicing plates, then thin & thick julienne cuts, for a total of 6 slicing options.

* Effective. The safety handle provided makes slicing the entire vegetable simple (once you understand how to use it) and makes cutting yourself during use impossible.

* Convenient. The wall-mountable, plastic storage unit keeps all cutting blades together and safely covered/protected when not in use.

* Neat. Easy to clean. Few parts to rinse off.

* Compact. Stores in a small space with all the parts in one place.

* Durable. My original Borner V-slicer has lasted for between 10 and 20 years.

* Time-tested. This design has been in use for nearly 60 years.

Cons:

* Potentially dangerous for the uneducated, dull, or smarmy cook (just like any sharp tool).

* The safety handle doesn't store compactly within the container like the rest of the parts.

In conclusion, this is a superb kitchen tool for slicing & julienning vegetables, for those willing to use it correctly. While there are certainly less effective, cheaper, safer tools out there for slicing vegetables, the v-slicer is the optimal design for generating as many controlled cuts as possible with one movement. Buy it, respect it, love it. Or satisfy yourself with something less.

Chef Buddy 82-BC1004 4-Person Raclette Grill

Chef Buddy 82-BC1004 4-Person Raclette Grillwe used it in the last days 2 times. The size is very convenient for 2 persons. It's a small footprint. I love making raclette a lot, but because I had before only a 8 pans size we didn't used it very often. The cleanup is also very easy.

Did not keep either of these units myself, but rather gave as gifts owing to the price point. Recipients both liked the units particularly the hot stone. Good for small families.

This unit works very well, but pretty much only for two. The cooking area is really too small for more than two. I was worried that the cheese would be too far from the heat source to melt, but it worked just great. I'm very pleased with the unit.

Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Signature Stainless Steel Grilling Kabob Skewers, Set of 2I was looking everywhere for wide bbq skewers for my son-in-law for his birthday. He wanted skewers that were wide like his father used to use to make Persian kebabs on. He was very pleased when he opened his present! These were very sturdy and exactly what he wanted.

Short and sweet review of this item-excellent! Outstanding for Persian, Indian and Middle Eastern Kebabs. Happy Grilling to you!

The line of Raichlen skewers are all very well built using all stainless steel and somehow the handles stay reasonably cool when you are using them on the grill. One potential problem with this size is that they are HUGE, I'm often searching for things to skewer with them due to their size, some of the smaller widths are much better for most applications.

I searched for the flat style Skewer for the Kofta style (ground meat) Middle Eastern Kababs. To say I am extremely satisfied with these would be an understatement. The meat does not roll or fall off of the skewer. The skewer for perfect Chele Kababs. The broad area of the skewer transfers heat to the inside of the meat for an evenly cooked Kabab.

This is a great product. Steel is good quality. The ends are well formed to avoid getting hot while on grill. Very happy with Price Vs Quality. Couldn't be better. Would recommend it.

Whirlpool Part Number 2206671W: Grille, Overflow (White)

Whirlpool Part Number 2206671W: Grille, OverflowI needed this to replace my old one from 10 yrs ago when I bought the fridge. The quality is so so but it serves the purpose. Maybe it's in my mind but I feel the original one might be heavier/thicker.

Optimus F-5285 8-Inch Electrically Reversible Twin 3-Speed Window Fan with Thermostat, white

Optimus F-5285 8-Inch Electrically Reversible Twin 3-Speed Window Fan with Thermostat, whiteThis fan barely moves any air. The fan was wired backwards and to have it blow air in you have to set it to exhaust. After three weeks of use, one of the two fans quit working. I wouldn't recommend this fan to anyone.

My son's 6th floor dorm room in San Diego was 80 degrees with no air conditioning. This fan was perfect for two reasons. First, it does not require installation in the window because it has feet and he can place it on the window sill, so he can leave the screen on and not worry about bugs. Secondly the fan exchanges the room air with an intake fan and exhaust fan. His room is running 8 degrees cooler and he is sleeping much better. He already had a free standing fan and wanted a second fan. I am so glad we purchased this Optimus window fan.

Buy Optimus F-5285 8-Inch Electrically Reversible Twin 3-Speed Window Fan with Thermostat, white Now

The fan is reliable, works fine, but the output is miniscule. For the price, I would have assumed I would be able to create a nice breeze. When the wind kicks up outside over 10 mph, it actually makes the fans move faster than if they were plugged in. Would not recommend if you are using it in the South during the summer.

I tried this product out. But it is a cheap piece of junk for the most part. It does not fit in a standard window very well, and is somewhat clunky to use the side visors. The entire product is made of very cheap flimsy plastic. I doubt it is going to last very long, and it feels like it will fall apart if I touch it. It is not worth the price, not even close.

Want Optimus F-5285 8-Inch Electrically Reversible Twin 3-Speed Window Fan with Thermostat, white Discount?

Horrible fan, it is quiet because it doesn't move the air! I thought that is what a fan is supposed to do, move the cool night air into the house! This one, the air can be barely felt even on high, like I said I could blow harder. If you want to move air into a house do not get this fan. I got it because at the time of my purchase the reviews were good.

  • HPI faithfully recreates the BMW M3 E30 for RC cars with this 200mm body that fits wide 1/10 sedans and features the usual HPI attention to detail
  • Included with the body is a pre-cut decal sheet that include window lines, headlights, grills, tail lights, official logos and more

  • Fits 200mm touring cars and can be used on 190mm touring cars with the use of wide offset wheels

This kit comes with decals, the body and two pieces that you can replace for the stock front and rear sides to give the car a more radical look. The quality its super, every detail has been take in consideration, every line, contour, everything. Working with the kit has its ups and downs. To paint is easy, to cut is where you will have to spend more time. I start with a hobby knive, almost kill myself, then switch to a scissor, man, cutting that body is not an easy task, then I use a dremel and that's when things started to look better. Its a job that you wont get in a hour, that's if you want to do it right. Once installed, the car looks beautiful, my kid ask for lights for the headlight and under the car, that took me some more time but it was fun.

Black Open Bottle Here STARR "X" Wall Mounted Bottle Opener

Black Open Bottle Here STARR 'X' Wall Mounted Bottle OpenerSo most may assume that I bought this product to affix to the wall in a bar or game room to open various bottles of beer. You would be close, but not right on. I actually affixed this item to the fuse box cover of my Harley-Davidson motorcycle to open various bottles of beer. I simply purchased a couple of rubber washers of the appropriate size to ensure water does not enter the fuse panel.

My review is a glowing one. Every bottle of beer has been opened flawlessly and with the ease expected from such a product. It is a definite conversation piece and I am asked about it all the time.

I do not advocate the consumption of alcohol when riding a motorcycle, but at various bike nights or while working on my bike in the garage, this product has proven indispensable. This is a solid product that I full expect to stand up to a lot of use. Whether that use is measured in bottles or years remains to be seen, but I do not foresee having to purchase another one of these. That is until I convince my girlfriend to allow me to get another Harley-Davidson.

Based on the picture I expected bright red lettering, when I received the opener the lettering was dull and faded. Very dark and barely readable.

The the lettering is raised showing higher quality but the red paint on the letters doesn't match up. It's off to the side and looks bad.

Wish I knew how the finish will look in 3 years, but so far it is promising enough.

Really sharp looking, though. Perhaps the best looking one I've seen.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Extra Power Cleaning Pads, 4-Count Boxes (Pack of 4)

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Extra Power Cleaning Pads, 4-Count BoxesEveryone knows that the Magic Eraser will MAGICALLY ERASE everything in your house including your sink, tub, and stove. And if that's all you want to clean with your Magic Eraser, then fine. Do that. But just know you are not exploring ALL OF ITS MAGICAL POWERS. It's like buying a Porsche and only driving it in a El Pollo Loco parking lot. Or only using your ninja fighting skills to crochet. A headband. For your dog.

No, you must explore, you must ERASE in a MAGICAL fashion.

Here are just a few things the MAGIC ERASER will MAGICALLY ERASE:

-Candle wax on a wall

-Inside of a toaster oven that has caught on fire

-Your haircut from 1998

-The yellow film at the bottom of your fridge

-Every drunk text you've ever sent

-Stained oven racks

-Bad breath

-Soap scum on faucets

-Adam Sandler's entire movie career, including, yes, Punch Drunk Love

-Slime inside of a trash can (see above)

-Prom photos

-Love handles

-Tomato sauce everywhere

-Bacne

-The entire Creed catalog

-Wine rings on a counter

-Grease off a fume hood and also Grease II

-The email you accidentally sent to everyone at work

-People who talk on the phone on public transportation

-Mosquitoes

-The gunk at the bottom of your utensil cup

-War, all of them, including the French-Indian one

-The corner of your bathroom where you keep the plunger

-Mouth breathers

-Deadlines

-The smug look off your co-worker's face

-U2 cover bands

-Scuff marks on linoleum

-Prequels

Basically the only thing it WON'T erase is itself. It cannot do that. That alone would destroy Earth.

The only drawback is that this box comes with FOUR. It should come with an INFINITE AMOUNT. I'm not sure how this is even possible but we are making remarkable achievements in science.

Now I'm going to marry Mr. Clean and have all of his bald, massively ripped babies.

We had a house fire and had to replace most of our belongings. Unfortunately, the insurance did not cover a replacement tub and surround, because it was structurally sound, just dirty. Well, it turns out that nothing I tried could remove the soot and smoke stains. I tried sos pads, ajax powder, CLR and even commercial TSP. The gross grey stains wouldn't budge. I picked up some of these extra power magic erasers to use on another project. I decided to try them on the tub, and I couldn't believe it; the stains came right off! I almost cried. These things are amazing!

This product is amazing. Any hype it has on TV, ads, wherever, is very, very well deserved.

I just cleaned my shower with the eraser yesterday and it was actually _fun_. I got gunk off that I never thought I would. I had to scrub hard in some places, but the job it did was really incredible. I had some soap residue on one part of the shower and I thought the sponge wasn't working on it; I turned it over and realized it had just _picked up_ all the gunk onto itself, and all I had to do was rinse it off. And not only did it clean the other dirt, it made it flake off so it was easy to brush away and down the drain, just as advertised. You can use them for a long time as well: two of them (one box) cleaned the entire shower: three walls and basin. And when I give something a once-over, I'm confident it's actually clean.

If you haven't tried this product, do. It will save you the two most valuable commodities of time and energy. But remember, buy a lifetime supply, 'cause they're so good they'll probably be discontinued within a year.

Wow. Just, wow. I dyed my hair black months ago and even though I was very careful, the dye stained part of the white (yikes!) plastic tub in my apartment. I went online and did some research and found this.

I will admit, I was skeptical that this would even work. But after gently scrubbing for around three minutes, one of the largest, most obvious stains was totally gone!

I'm happy for two reasons: a)I'll get my security deposit back, and b) I can dye my hair again without worrying about the outcome.

Outstanding product. I don't know how it works, it just does.

Dawn - Power Dissolver Spray - 12.8-Fl. Oz. Bottle

Dawn - Power Dissolver Spray - 12.8-Fl. Oz. BottleThis is has got to be the best products for dissolving and removing baked on or burnt on grease or food.

I recently had to clean the rings that hold the drip pans on my Aunts electric stove. The mess was many layers of heated baked on grease from years of build-up. In less than an hour of soaking under plastic wrap, I was able to wipe off most of the mess. Procter & Gamble 00632 Dawn Power Dissolver

I was introduced to this miracle product by my uncle. Now, there are many many products out there that make outlandish claims to be able to clean miraculously. I will say this -when it comes to baked on carbonified foods (like the muck that winds up on a grill or on your stovetop burners) there is no product out there that I have ever seen come anywhere near close to what this product can do.

My stainless steel grills for my outside grill had 3 years of baked on carbon. I really was considering throwing them away and buying new ones. I couldn't get the carbon off of them. I tried wire brushes, steam, pressure washing, wet towels, dishwasher, etc nothing worked. I brought the grills in and put them on my sink. I sprayed this product on them on both sides. Let them sit for 20 minutes. Came back and used the green side of a kitchen sponge and the carbon wiped away without too much fuss.

I stood AMAZED!

I don't know about the toxicity of this product, I do recommend gloves because this stuff is doing something!

This is the last product I will ever buy to clean my grill and when it comes to my stove, it does equally amazing work.

Buy Dawn - Power Dissolver Spray - 12.8-Fl. Oz. Bottle Now

My first bottle of this i received as a free sample. It's fantastic. I believe the reason it didn't survive in the resale stores was due to the fact that people did not read the directions. You apply this directly to DRY material you want removed the drier, the more backed on, even things left for long periods (like the ceiling inside your microwave) the better. I actually went hunting for this stuff again when my kid destroyed (or so i thought) my favorite pan by burning rice to the non-stick surface, two applications of this no scrubbing my pan is saved and better than ever.

I worked in a sign shop this stuff will take glue off anything, it will take grease off an engine, it will clean aluminum before powder coating like nothing you will ever find.

I cleaned an oven not cleaned in a year in a rental house and it sparkled in two applications. No fumes.

I love this stuff just remember NO WATER first or it wont work at all.

This product is expensive when compared with most household cleaners, but wow, it packs a punch. I got this at the recommendation of my cleaning lady, who was unable to clean the dried, stained oil burns on the heating element of my gas stove with the normal cleaners I had on hand. I got it and applied it to those stained oil burns, let it sit for 2 hours and it really did the job. This is one of the most powerful household cleaners you can get. Worth the money!

I have to say this product is difficult to find. I searched all the grocery stores in my area and even Walmart & Target and just could not find it anywhere. It may be some of those places were out of stock, but wow, I was stunned by how much trouble I had finding it. So it's worth putting in a good word of praise about Amazon. I'm glad I can find so many otherwise difficult to find products here, whether it is shipped and fulfilled by Amazon or Amazon store operators. I'm not in the habit of turning to Amazon when I can't find something at a nearby store. Retailers churn through their inventory list often and drop low volume items frequently, so it's nice to have this option.

Want Dawn - Power Dissolver Spray - 12.8-Fl. Oz. Bottle Discount?

We rent out our townhouse for part of the year. Our last tenant left the pots and pans with burned on grease and the cooktop had the burned on remnants of what I can only assume were many cooking disasters. Steel wool was no match for this mess so I went to Walmart for a solution and bought this purely on name value. Plain old Dawn works on plenty of things that are not related to cleaning dishes, etc. so I figured this might be the heavy gun needed. I sprayed this on the cooktop and forgot about it for over an hour. I couldn't believe how it dissolved the greasy dried gunk and left the cooktop glistening. Since then I have used this on the gas grill and other messes.

My only gripe with this product is that the local Walmart no longer stocks it and it is hard to find this elsewhere. I'd buy a vat of this if I could.
