Camerons Products Chicken Beer Roaster
The first time we used the Beer Roaster, we tried a bland Miller Genuine Draft beer. The chicken came out moist, but flavorless. After some trial and error, we found a perfect recipe.
We pick a beer with lots of flavor. Our current preference is a dark Sam Adams brew like Black Lager or Brown Ale. We then add in a big spoonful of honey. Make sure you rinse off the chicken and pat it dry inside and out with paper towels. We then apply a dry rub to the outside of the chicken (any good rub you pick-up at the grocery store should be fine). A 6-pound chicken cooks for about 2 hours at 375 degrees. Once it's done cooking, let it sit for about 10 minutes so the juices can settle down.
Everyone raves about the flavor. There's never any leftovers. It's so much better than those lousy pre-cooked chickens at the grocery. The Beer Roaster is the best kitchen gadget we've ever bought. No more wrestling a hot chicken off of an equally hot beer can! The 18/10 stainless steel construction is sturdy, and the tube is just the right size which makes taking the chicken off a breeze. The beer roaster is a one piece unit with a base that provides ample support for the bird to rest on.
I am not knocking the beer can method, but this roaster is even better. The roaster comes with a few sample recipes if you want to put something other than beer in the base. The possibilities are endless.

Original Review follows (Updated review follows orig...)I filled with water after removing the item from the packaging.
I wiped the base dry with a paper towel.
Within one minute, I probably had a Tablespoon of water that had leaked onto the base plate.
I filled out online the form for a replacement and Amazon is ready to send a new one out (no charge) I also printed out a label for return shipping that Amazon created.
I have 30 days for them to receive the defective item before being charged for the second or replacement item.
I will follow up when received on the condition of the second roaster.
I have cooked beer can chicken before and yes it is moist and tasty.
I knew the size of the item, but was still shocked to see the size of it...appeared small. But could be a good thing if you were trying to cook two chickens at the same time.
The diameter of the 'can' is smaller than that of a can of soda...thus it will be easier to insert into the chicken.
//
Update two days later:
Received the second or replacement item in two days from Amazon.
It worked just fine until I tried to clean it. I placed a dish rag loosely into the can to clean...holding onto the square base and turning on the disk rag, I felt a snap. Part of the bottom of the can separated from the plate. Does NOT leak though. I sent it back also.
It turns out the item is made of three pieces.
The cylinder (can) is made of stainless steel.
The bottom of the can has a steel plug (not stainless...magnetic) connected somehow to the cylinder. I suspect either glued or jammed into the bottom. I DO NOT KNOW. But I see no spot welding marks.
Then the plug is spot welded to the base which also is NOT stainless steel (again magnetic material like steel).
One final note. With the chicken resting on top of the can, the top of the can is near the top of the neck. So I am not sure how much moisture and flavor stays inside the chicken.
I will stick with my Fox Run brand.
I have on order two stainless cups or tumblers that I will see how they work within the Fox Run wire cage.

great product, very stable, easily moved from BBQ to inside home, easily cleaned especially if you spray with pam first..good price, well made. would recommend it to all who like the beer can chicken on BBQMakes a really tasty chicken with a minimum of fuss and no problem with clean up. Just pour out the residue after baking and put the roaster in the dish washer. Be sure to add a lot of spice to the liquid for optimum flavor.Thursday, June 19, 2014

These fire starters work great for starting a charcoal grill without lighter fluid. They burn long enough to get the fire going, and are reasonably easy to light. The match head/striker;however isn't that great. It's easier to just light them on fire with a lighter than to use the striker on the side of the box. It just doesn't work that well. But if you put them in the grill and light them you will not need lighter fluid ever again. If you're using a Kamado Oven, they're perfect.

Horrible product! The fire starters do not start when they are struck on the side of the box and once you get them lit with a match...they do not keep the fire going. One time I just touched the fire starter to the side of the box and it ignited in my hand. Will never purchase this product again.Friday, May 2, 2014

Planks are wasteful in my opinion. This is both an environmentally conscious option as well as allowing for a shorter cooking time. The fish comes out delicious and evenly cooked. I bought four pkgs as we cook with these wraps all of the time.We found a similar product at one of our local grocery stores the Fire & Flavor brand endorsed by Gena Knox and tried them to use with salmon steaks. They were easy to use and allowed us enough room to add garnishes as well as some fruits and vegetables to cook in and marinade with the salmon steaks. For some reason, our grocery store stopped carrying them and we couldn't find them again so we came to Amazon to fine them which wasn't a problem because you can find EVERYTHING on Amazon! However, while searching for them we found this brand and it seemed to be a comparable product at a little better value so we decided to give them a try. They work just as well and we get a few more sheets for a little less money so these are a great option for us. Will definitely re-purchase and would recommend to others. We used this to infuse a smoke flavor into tequila worked great. Then we grillede with them also great. Highly recommend!Thursday, April 17, 2014

18" High Velocity Floor Fan
In this case, the fan came to me from UPS in damaged condition-dented grill. I will eventually get around to trying to straighten it but it will be a cold day in heell, before I buy from you boys again.
You could see from the packaging that this was a returned fan. The cardboard box was ripped apart like a long anticipated Christmas present.
Then, without regard for appearance, someone scotch taped it together in a rather haphazard way--the metal was coming through the box in another section of the container. I would have refused it if I was there when the UPS man delivered it, but I just sign the slip and leave the door open as so many people do-I suppose. It's a real drag when you try to do something online for convenience and ease of shoping and end up with piss poor companies like yours, who try to get by with shoddy performance. It's good to find out about you early---it's a cheap price to pay to get you out of my life.

Presto 07030 Cool Touch 20-Inch Electric Griddle, Black
Pros:
It's awesome to have a griddle in the kitchen. First and foremost, it's great being able to make more than one or two pancakes at a time. If you want to serve someone up a short stack, there is a lot of waiting using only two pans, but with this, you can crank out three good size cakes at the same time. Also, frying eggs and warming meat at the same time has saved me a lot of time in the mornings.
It's easy to clean. If you read the manual carefully, it suggests seasoning before use. This ensures a light coat of oil stays on it while it's being used. I've done this and NOTHING has stuck to the surface. I also give it a thorough scrub with either a dry paper towel or a wet one held with chopsticks after each use and it stays very clean.
It gets hot fast! Way faster than my range top and a pan, which also saves me time in the morning. This is mostly due to the light construction, but this can also contribute to un-even heating, which I have not yet had a problem with, although others have.
Its just more fun. Maybe this is helping me live out some long-lost short-order cook fantasies? = )
Cons:
As other reviewers have noted, it slides around a bit. I find myself lifting it up a bit on one side to both keep it in place and also to give the spatula better odds of sliding under an egg without breaking it. This is not a deal-breaking compensation, but rubber feet would have been nice here.
It tends to get pretty hot. The manual comes with cooking temps, but I found most of them to be a little high. Cooking a little more cool has helped things out for me. Again, this may be what has attributed to others' problems.
The bottom line here is that you get what you pay for. This is one of the cheaper models on the market, so I think it would be a little unrealistic to assume that the bargain model would deliver a top-of-the-line performance. I have had zero problems with mine so far, but I recognize that it clearly has some room for improvements. Until I want to shell out more than $30 for a small kitchen appliance, I'll be quite happy with this product.I have been using the griddle for about a year now, and nothing sticks to it. It has a nice wide flat surface that makes it great for making pancakes for the family. My family used to have to eat them in shifts because I could only cook 2 at a time on my regular frying pan. I can do about eight at a time now, depending on how big i want them i can do more. Clean up is a breeze...once you remove the plug the griddle is completely submersable in water. I had a george foreman once...cleaning it was difficult because it couldn't get wet. I cook all my burgers on the Presto now. If grease starts to collect there is a grease tray on the side, just push the unwanted stuff into the hole with a spatula.

My original electric griddle was a Hamilton Beach. I had it for almost 16 years and used it constantly. It had the most non-stick surface I've ever seen. I never used any oil on it, and absolutely nothing stuck, not even scrambled eggs. When it finally wore out, I purchased a Presto Cool Touch griddle as a replacement. The product claimed to be non-stick. I was a little concerned when I saw that the surface was rough to the touch. It had the texture of a cast iron pan. I figured it must work, though. Well, everything stuck right to it. I was disappointed that I'd have to go back to using oil. I applied a nice coating of oil and started again. Everything still stuck. It was a real mess. As for cleanup, it's a nightmare. The oil got baked onto that rough surface and turned into that sticky brown goo you get sometimes on your glass bakeware. Not only that, it was impossible to completely remove the goo. I would wash the griddle by hand over and over again, only to find more brown goo rubbing off onto my dish towel when I dried it. I tried the griddle for 2 weeks and then took it out to the garbage can. I have since bought a #38510 Hamilton Beach StepSavor Jumbo Griddle and I love it. I am back to cooking without any added oil and cleanup is super easy. If you like to cook pancakes, eggs and french toast on your griddle, stick with Hamilton Beach for the best results.Read Best Reviews of Presto 07030 Cool Touch 20-Inch Electric Griddle, Black Here
After reading comments from other reviewers I was a little worried about uneven cooking when I ordered this, but in my experience (with pancakes) the difference in coloration was very minor between areas that were directly above the heating element and areas that weren't. I usually leave a good 5-10 mins for the griddle to heat up before I start cooking, so maybe if you throw the pancakes on right away after the minimum amount of warmup time you would get problems with uneven cooking, but personally I haven't experienced it. With cooking other things like grilled cheese sandwiches, there is no difference in coloration whatsoever between what was over the heating element and what wasn't. I followed the directions about "seasoning" the non-stick surface with canola oil before the first time I used it, and so far NOTHING sticks to this thing. It's been very easy to clean. Overall I love it, and compared to the price of other griddles out there I'm very happy with my purchase. It makes about six pancakes or sandwiches at a time, so I can easily produce food for 4-6 people faster than they can possibly eat it. The only negative is that, like other reviewers have mentioned, the legs on this griddle tend to slide across the countertop surface very easily. I solved it with a pack of 1/2" adhesive rubber feet I bought for $2.49 (similar to these: Waxman 4215395N 1/2-Inch Heavy Duty Bumper, Clear, Round), but despite how easy it was to fix this, it's really something Presto should have corrected before production so shame on them for that. Still, I would recommend this griddle to anyone in the market for a new one. I love it.Want Presto 07030 Cool Touch 20-Inch Electric Griddle, Black Discount?
I picked up this griddle here for $20 and it was worth every single penny. I treated it with oil as was recommended in manual and have had absolutely no problems with sticking. It cleans easily and is large enough for quite alot of stuff. It heats quickly and evenly and has allowed me to make some quite spectacular meals.Things I've cooled on it so far:
Eggs (over-easy)
Eggs (scrambled)
Bacon (wonderful)
Grilled cheese
Hamburgers
Pork chops
Steaks
Tuna steaks
Tillapia
Cod fillets
Salmon
Everything has come out wonderfully.
The only negative thing I have to say about it agrees with a few other reviewers. As sold, it has a tendency to slide around on the counter, which would be somewhat dangerous without precautions. However, it is trivial to deal with. I simply put a towel underneath. Walla ... no more sliding. For a real solution, just go to Home Depot and get some small rubber feet for $1.50.
All-in-all, this is the best $20 I have every spent on a kitchen appliance.

Breville RM-JE98XL Certified Remanufactured Juice Fountain Plus 850-Watt Juice Extractor
I was skeptical at first, because I heard it was a lot of work, etc... I actually find it rewarding to do the entire process. You really feel good when you are washing your veggies, and putting them in the juicer. One thing I'd recommend is that if you see the juicer not juicing, stop it and rinse the screen out, or clean it. You will get more juice. Cleanup is not as bad as I thought it was going to be, either. Use a bag to line the pulp and it's easy cleanup. Today I didn't have time, and loaded everything but the machine into the dishwasher. I'll clean the filter myself, by hand, after soaking it in water for about 10 mins. No biggie.
I researched juicers for WEEKS and it came down to this one. There is more output of juice, the pulp is dry, and it's not very expensive. I feel so much better, and healthier, too!! (And it's not all in my head, either...LOL) Please remember that when you juice with green veggies, like kale, you're going to feel like your drinking grass... I just add ginger root, a banana or something, and down it. That's the best method. The rest of the juice leftover, I put in 8 oz. Mason jars and put it in the refrigerator. (Juice 1/2 peeled lemon to it so it won't turn colors) Once you get used to it, you wonder why you hadn't done this before.
I'd recommend this to anyone, and am thinking of getting this for a present for someone. Good buy, highly recommend!I had a Jack LaLanne Power Juicer, but then I saw the movie "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" and witnessed their preference for the Breville unit. Not wanting to part with $250 for a new one, I scooped up a great deal on Amazon for the factory refurb.
It works great and seems to extract the same or more juice than the JLL. What's best, it's a heck of a lot easier to disassemble and clean. This is very important if you plan on juicing regularly. Trust me, you can spend a lot of time cleaning the JLL and the parts are large and clunky. This unit is smaller, lighter, takes up less counter space and more aesthetically pleasing by far.
On the downside, this unit is much noisier due to the higher operating RPM. Deal with it. How long are you going to run it anyway?

This juicer is absolutely amazing. First of all it fits (small) whole apples! No need for chopping anymore. This definitely helps to cut down your juice time when you are in a rush. Second, the power of this juicer is incredible. It really gets every last drop of juice out of the veggies & fruits. After making one juice, I scooped out the pulp and ran it through the chute to see if there was an excess juice, and nothing came out! The pulp was practically dry and there was no need to run the pulp through again. You will definitely get your money's worth and get every penny out of those fruits & veggies. The juicer may be remanufactured, but it is in perfect condition and looks brand spanking new.
Great juicer and great company. I am very satisfied.I juiced in the mid-90's but got darn tired of the hassle concerning clean-up so I just quit using it and gave the juicer away and never missed it.
Here it is 2012 and I wanted to juice again for the optimal health benefits and I assumed machines surely must have improved from 20+ years ago, and have they ever, this Breville Juice Fountain is incredible, difference between night and day from my old juicer. My family has found that to wash, prepare and juice veggies and fruits etc... has become a family event, it literally becomes fun with everyone doing their part. We chose this type of juicer over the slower ones as we really did not want to turn juicing into a dreaded chore, we wanted one that was fast, easy to clean and not have to shove small cut-up pieces of food down a small chute.
The 3" chute is very convienent, the pulp discharge gets the pulp out of the way without clogging up the machine, the parts are easy to assemble and disassemble and clean-up on the most part is very easy (FYI, you will always have to deal with a filter to clean by hand and the supplied brush is very effective at cleaning the filter/blade part). The juice is pulp free, the discharded pulp (yes, line the pulp discharge container with a plastic bag, to discard the pulp we merely dig a hole in the garden/landscaping and bury the pulp) is relatively dry. The pitcher can seperate the froth from the juice but have found we very rarely use this as we like to stir the finished juice product before consuming so we just stir the froth in with the juice so this feature for the pitcher is useless for us. We have found this powerful juicer merely spits leafy produce into the pulp container, it does produce a small amount of juice from it, but again, very little, if we want leafy veggies in our diet we just eat a salad.
Only problem we had was the filter/blade part did look unduly scratched and worn but amazon.com made that right so we were very satisfied with the price for a recertified machine of this quality versus a new one. After 2nd use of the juicer the plastic top piece while trying to open for use. This was very disappointing after having read many positive reviews. The machine is relatively quiet and the juice flows well...however the downfall is not with the motor, but with all the plastic that is feeble. The comments and feedback about customer service are also quite true as customer service is quite bad and my request to have piece replaced was met with a reminder that this was a re-manufactured item...I said but plastic was new, oh well that is not covered anyway..only motor for 3 months on re-manufactured. If you want to buy the replacement part the wait is over 2 months at the earliest they advised. So needless to say customer service is not top of mind despite premium price of unit. Anyhow avoid these units with lots of plastic that easily breaks and get steel or harder plastic instead to increase your chances for longevity.
