Toastess TPG-315 6-Person Nonstick Party Grill and Raclette

Toastess TPG-315 6-Person Nonstick Party Grill and RacletteThe Raclette grill is exactly like the one we brought from Germany. It is wonderful. There are probably items with higher quality. But for an item like this, which you do not use every day it has a great value for the price. I love it and the family who got it for christmas loved it, too !

This product delivered exactly what it advertised. I had never used this type of cookware before and was uncertain what I would need to host a small gathering with some French students. I checked Amazon to see what my options were and decided to purchase a relatively inexpensive version. The Toastess Party Grill was exactly what I needed for the six of us to prepare our own meals. It's lightweight, easy to use, and easy to clean. As it turned out, there was no need to spend any more to have a wonderful time.

I love this form of cooking but it is difficult to find in the United States. This makes a fun dinner and is very easy to use & clean.

I bought this and it is a great product for gatherings with family and friends.

That being said, the teflon easily wears on the product, even after rigidly following the manufacturer's instructions.

It heats up quite fast and the top grill does do a good job when cooking items.

Be aware, once the teflon is gone, things will stick and it will not be pleasant to clean! This is a deal breaker for me. You can find better quality items out there.

My girlfriend and I bought this as a gift for our families to encourage sitting at the table and sharing a meal. It turned out great however, be advised that although the product is advertised to serve up to 6 people, you'll find it cumbersome to have enough cooking to feed them all. I'd say that this product is quite small and best fits the needs for 3 to 4 people. One more thing that I was asking myself why the designers wouldn't take into account is the need for a knob to regulate the intensity of the resistance like a stove would have... I hope this doesn't sound bad but the overkill or cold settings (on, off) are somewhat primitive. Granted you can turn it on or off as needed but that's inconvenient. Nonetheless, this little bad boy got the job done and actually kept us in the table for around 3 hours. The cleaning was effortless.

George Foreman GR0080S Stainless Steel 80 Square Inch Vari Temp Grill with Variable Temperature Con

George Foreman GR0080S Stainless Steel 80 Square Inch Vari Temp Grill with Variable Temperature ControlI really like this grill as the nonstick surface is wonderful. When done cooking, I just place a wet paper towel on the grill surface, close the lid, and in no time I can just wipe it clean. It has a large surface and the timer is a must.

People seem divided on whether grills like this are a piece of crap or a wonderful kitchen tool. We've had ours for over a month, so I can't comment on how well it will hold up over time. We find it to be handy in the kitchen for things like hamburgers, hot dogs and steaks -we haven't tried chicken yet. Cooking size is less than the "80 Square Inches" advertised -I measured the flat interior cooking surface at 6" x 11-1/2". But we can fit two New York strip steaks on it or 4 generous hamburgers. We even used it for two Rueben Grill sandwiches using large New York rye bread and they both fit. In spite of the exaggerated dimensions, it's the perfect size for two people

The surface is easy to clean with a wet paper towel. The on/off switch is very handy, as is the temp control, though most of our cooking is done at the MAX temperature setting. The lid floats but it will sit at the highest cut of meat you have under it, so pieces with varying heights may cook to different levels of doneness -however, this usually isn't a problem for hamburgers or steaks or hot dogs. The slope cooking surface ensures that fat will and does drip down off the grill into the supplied non-attached plastic catch pan.

Cooking times for us is about half what it would be on a flat one-sided heating surface, so it makes for a quicker prep at meal time.

It's convenient to use, doesn't take up a great deal of counter space, cleans easily and cooks the meat we like as well as as our usual methods. We're happy with it and glad we bought it.

this one truly has enough space to cook two sandwiches or two large burgers, basically two servings of anything. and it has it's own on and off switch so you don't have to unplug it every time when you'r done cooking.

My wife convinced me to purchase a George Foreman grill product for the first time and I must say this grill really cooks well. We've done burgers, salmon, and steak and all have come out juicy and very hot. Unfortunately, I can't give this specific model a high rating due to the cleanup that is required. The grill plates are not removable and requires a lot of time and effort in order to clean them without submerging the entire unit in water. Like others have said it takes longer to clean the grill then cooking the food and in the process I end up making a mess in the kitchen.

Want George Foreman GR0080S Stainless Steel 80 Square Inch Vari Temp Grill with Variable Temperature Con Discount?

I bought this because for just one person I didn't want to have to use my charcoal grill. It's way too big for just one burger. I spent some time researching which George Foreman grill I wanted to buy and finally settled on this one. It works great! I love it so much. I love the vari temp control. Cleanup is easy as long as you don't let it cool down over night, then it can get a little difficult. I've found as long as you clean it after you're done using it, the cleanup is fairly easy. I would recommend this to anyone and have to several friends so far.

Le Creuset Silicone Pastry Brush

Le Creuset Silicone Pastry Brush, FennelIt's my own fault for not reading the description thoroughly but this brush is the SMALL one. I am assuming they make one bigger and if they do I'll be ordering that one as well. This comes in handy for a lot of things though!

There wasn't a size listed when I purchased this product. It's only about 5 inches long from end to end. I was thinking it would be closer to 12, but it will work fine for a pastry brush, but not so much for BBQ-ing.

Buy Le Creuset Silicone Pastry Brush Now

Smaller than I expected (knowing the length in inches doesn't tell you how it will look/feel in your hand), but it's a good tool for close-up basting, such as brushing melted butter on bread. It's nice that the brush head can be pulled off and put in the dishwasher.

Brush is much smaller than expected. Unlike a regular pastry brush, bristles are soft which makes it hard to work with butter that is cold or at room temperature. Does work well with melted butter.

Wow, I guess I should have read more. Bought this as a filler item but still something I needed. Didn't realize the picture on my monitor was actually bigger than the brush.

Whatever, it works, and the description is correct, so my fault. I just think they should rename it "Le Creuset Super Tiny Silicone Pastry Brush"

LA's Totally Awesome Grill and Oven Cleaner (40 fl oz)

LA's Totally Awesome Grill and Oven CleanerI actually got this at my local dollar store, but this stuff works great! Just note that if you are going to clean more than 2-3 squirts of the liquid indoors you should use gloves and a respirator mask (a cloth one seems to be fine). I've been cleaning my kitchen with this and it literally melts the built up grease off of anything it touches. Highly recomended.

Awesome Heavy Duty Oven and Grill Cleaner is a lemon scented product. It is powerful and dependable and reduces elbow grease. I am very pleased with this product. It removed baked grease and it worked on my oven when it was cold. It was fast and I did not have to leave it overnight to get the oven or racks clean. It was great when I cleaned the pit grills outside. It really made cleaning the racks a lot faster. I am impressed and again this product saved me time and money. It lasts a long time. It is very nice having the fresh lemon scent. It does start working right away and gives the surfaces a bright, clean shine. I will continue using this product. I like the fact that this product can be used for more than just one thing. I was concerned that it might not have enough strength because of the price but I found out that it does pack the power and a strong cleaning punch. I will be watching for other products made by awesome.

Cuisinart WM-SW2 Dual-Sandwich Nonstick Electric Grill

Cuisinart WM-SW2 Dual-Sandwich Nonstick Electric GrillThis is a great little appliance for making good grilled sandwiches FAST! I was surprised that it only took about 2 minutes to grill 2 sandwiches. A green light comes on when they are done, and it's right on when that light comes on, the sandwiches are perfectly browned. I would have given it five stars, but I think it would be easier to clean if the grilling plates snapped out like some larger sandwich makers out there. Overall, a good buy.

The product does exactly what it is billed to do: it grills sandwiches quickly. The problem is that the grill is very small, so normal grocery store bread is way too big and it hangs out the side. In addition, if you want to make a bigger sandwich, i.e., stacked with several ingredients, the lid will not close and lock without Herculean strength and the risk of burning yourself. It does OK with two small pieces of bread and a small amount of cheese. But, for that, it's just as easy to heat up a nonstick frying pan. It would be, however, handy for students in dorms or others with no access to a stove.

Buy Cuisinart WM-SW2 Dual-Sandwich Nonstick Electric Grill Now

The design of the hinges (fixed rather than slip-joint} severely limits the thickness of the sandwich you can make. With more than one ingredient in the sandwich, the heating plates are not parallel. The top slice of bread gets toasted unenenly, and the cheese oozes out.

Many reviewers are complaining about only being able to make "thin sandwiches" with this press. I've owned it for 8 months now, and it has worked perfectly for every single sandwich I have ever put in there.

Last night, I made a meatball and marinara stuffed sandwich. The meatballs were about 3 inches tall, cut in half, so 1.5 inches in the sandwich. I put some marinara sauce and mozzarella, the top piece of bread, and it worked perfectly.

I have no idea what these people are putting in their sandwiches, but if you plan on 6 inches of sandwich (vertically, that is), then no this grill may not work for you. However, those 6-inch-tall monstrosities are probably not legally classified as "sandwiches" once they get that tall anyway.

It's a sandwich grill. It fits two pieces of bread, some cheese, some meat, a few veggies, and it squeezes your sandwich together and cooks from both sides. When the green light is lit, your sandwich is done! It's easy. It's fast. It's high quality and still looks/functions like new after 8 months of heavy use (heavy being at least 3 times a week, usually 5-7 times a week. My household loves hot sandwiches.)

Easy to clean just wipe it out with a moist paper towel when it's still warm (don't burn yourself like I'm wont to do).

Another fun idea: I use this grill to make omelets. Scramble a few eggs in a bowl with a fork; mix in some green onions, ham, and cheese; a few dashes of tobasco sauce; pour the bowl in the grill and clamp down. In 5 minutes, you'll have a perfectly-cooked, square-shaped omelet.

Want Cuisinart WM-SW2 Dual-Sandwich Nonstick Electric Grill Discount?

I worried that I'd stick this back in the closet next to the smoothie maker and the bread machine. But it sits on our counter and is used nearly every day. The teenagers love it because they can whip up two sandwiches at a time and wolf them down while they cook two more. And the sandwiches cook quickly. Red light means cooking, green light means done. No guesswork! The hardest part about it is getting the kids to stop using up all the bread in one day.

Worth every penny.

Smart Planet PPM-1K Keebler Personal Pie Maker

Smart Planet PPM-1K Keebler Personal Pie MakerI got one of these from my CVS Drugstore for $20. I had a coupon so got it for less than half price. I wouldn't pay more than that.

The first batch of pies came out great. The directions tell you to use pie crust for the bottom crusts and puff pastry for the top. I didn't know that when I bought it. Don't expect to be churning out loads of pies though. Each batch of 4 takes about 8-11 minutes.

Pros: Tasty pies and you can make any flavor you want

Cons: After the first batch, the item is hot so you are trying to put pie crust into it without getting burned.

Second, the pies are difficult to get out of the pie maker in one piece. My tops kept coming off.The third batch was a hot mess, literally. The pies leaked everywhere, the bottom crust was difficult to position, and two tops didn't get cooked while the other ones were getting too brown.

My plan had been to make several pies to give as gifts to neighbors but I am afraid this will be one of those appliances that I only use once in a blue moon. While the pies are cute and nice for small servings, it is much easier to just make a big pie.

I bought this mini pie maker this weekend, and made several batches of pies for dessert. Using the pie maker was very easy and fun. First you have to find the just right size round item to use as your "mold." I used a tall saki cup that was was perfect. Then use roll-out pie dough for the bottom crust , and puff pastry for the top. Fill the pies with whatever sounds good. I used chocolate and lemon pudding and cherry pie filling. So we had lemon, chocolate, cherry and chocolate-cherry pies. Each batch cooks 4 pies. The instructions say bake for 8-11 minutes, but I didn't even time them. After a few minutes, open the pie maker and see if the crust looks done. If it looks done, it is done. Puff pastry that's golden brown is perfect. If it's not golden, give it another minute or two and check again. All together, I think mine baked for about 6 minutes, but each one is unique, so check like you would a pie in the oven. To remove them from the pie maker, I used the point of a steak knife, and it worked perfectly. I cooled them on a rack and transferred them to a plate based on what flavor filling was inside. Today I made only sweet pies, but I'm certain that savory pies like mini empenadas would be great too.

I served my pies to kids ranging from age 14-15 and adults 28 to 50-something. They were a hit with the kids and adults. It was fun having a personal pie that was big enough for 3-5 bites, but small enough that you didn't feel guilty or stuffed. They were fresh and yummy and just plain fun! I will use my pie maker again soon. I know my kids will be asking, "when will you be making more pies for us?"

I BOUGHT TWO OF THESE. ONE FOR ME AND ONE FOR A FRIEND. SHE LOVES HERS. I GOT IT TO TRY AND CUT DOWN ON THE FAT FROM FRYING PIES. WE ARE BOTH EXPERIMENTING WITH THESE TO SEE WHAT ALL KINDS OF GOODIES WE CAN COME UP WITH. ITS WONDERFUL. ONLY THING WRONG IS YOU CANNOT OVERFILL THE CUPS. ITS ELECTRIC AND JOHN DEERE GREEN. WORKS WELL AND THE LITTLE PIES ARE GREAT. I MADE CHERRY PIES WITH MINE. SHE MADE APPLE. BOTH WERE GREAT. THEY DON'T MAKE LARGE PIES. THERE IS FOUR CUPS IN EACH. THE COST IS LOW. SO THE PRICE WAS RIGHT. I MADE CREAM PIES ALSO. I MADE THE GRAHAM CRACKER CRUST AND PUT IN THIS LITTLE BAKER. LET THEM COOL AND ADDED BANANA CREAM PIE WHEN THE CRUST WAS COOLED. GREAT BUY

OK, if you do not want too much room in the pan. I am able to cook small desserts for my son who loves them. At first, I thought I would have to send it back but used it several times and I just love the quickness of cooking so I decided to keep it. I do not care for the hard green color but who cares if it cooks good. This is a good purchase if you do not mind small cupcake/muffin type bakery.

It works fine, but the pies are smaller than I anticipated. 4-stars because it works as described and at a great price. But be aware that there is a bit of a cool down period required between batches and the size means you won't feed 4 people very quickly.

Koolatron 401-596 White 12 volt Auto Grill

Koolatron 401-596 White 12 volt Auto GrillThe family and I were taking a road trip through New Mexico when I got that sudden and familiar urge: I need ham. I had my wife Laura grab a nice, thick ham steak from the cooler at her feet. She offered to grill it for me, as I was driving at all, but in my family there's only one person that handles the grill, and that is me. My daughter Layla and my son Cody said they wanted hot dogs, so I threw them on the grill too.

Despite having different meat products, the Koolatron was cooking the ham and hot dogs evenly, and there was so much space I could have put another dog on there. I took my ham steak off first and it was really good: the Koolatron allowed the meat to retain much of its moisture and succulence.

Unfortunately, just as I was giving the hot dogs one final turn, I lost control of my vehicle, on I-40 about 30 miles west of Tucumcari. I don't remember much of the accident, just waking up in a hospital bed a few days later. It was then that I learned that Layla and Cody did not survive the crash. Laura was relatively unscathed, with only a broken leg and some broken ribs. I suffered burns over 40% of my body and had internal bleeding.

I got out of the hospital three weeks later. Laura and I decided to sell our home, as it held too many painful memories. It was bad. Laura and I found we couldn't live together, and recently divorced. The loss of the kids had a lot to do with it, but I could also not please her (my genitals had been burned off in the fire). I'm trying to date again, but it's been hard (as mentioned, I have no genitals it's like a Ken doll down there, but with the skin complexion of Freddy Kreuger).

However, once given the doctor's ok to operate a motor vehicle, I purchased another Koolatron and I can tell you that I've been happy with the (non-family destroying) results. Every time I cook something while driving a ham steak, hot dog, burger, etc it come out delicious and juicy. Of course, I'm no dummy and realize that another accident is just around the corner. But at this point, I don't even care anymore. I don't even care anymore.

PROS: lots of room, food retains moisture and doesn't dry out, durable

CONS: subsequent loss of family, genitals

I work for a utility company and I work out in the field. So I spend about $250 a month on lunch usually fast food or at a diner depending on the area I am at. Then I came across this grill. I thought wow I could to save some money using this grill. Got the grill followed the instruction and the hot plates were only warm to the touch. I did not even try to cook with it because it was just not hot enough.

Buy Koolatron 401-596 White 12 volt Auto Grill Now

For centuries, man has longed for the ability to cook while driving. With the advent of the Koolatron 401-596 (I can only imagine the countless hours focus groups must have logged to come up with that name), that dream has finally become a reality.

No longer constrained to the physical boundaries of a 'kitchen', or the archaic mores of 'safety', one can finally enjoy the freedom of careening down the highway at 85 mph (please check with your local municipality for the legality of these speeds) while grilling various meat products. And what of the oils from said meat products? Why, the sloped design allows them to just melt away into the (included) drip tray! What could be safer than hot grease in a moving vehicle? Certainly, no one has ever spilled anything liquid in a car before! Safe as milk, it is!

So free yourself from the tyranny of non-mobile cooking today with a Koolatron 401-596.

Apparently this product hasn't gotten any better in the three years since the previous gentleman review it. I purchased this for my fiance who is a truck driver. I was hoping this would provide him a way of cooking meat/grilling sandwiches, but it only gets hot enough to melt the butter on the bread. Obviously, it wouldn't get hot enough to cook a piece of raw meat. It's being returned. Very disappointed.

Air King 9012 Commercial Grade Oscillating Wall Mount Fan, 12-Inch

Air King 9012 Commercial Grade Oscillating Wall Mount Fan, 12-InchI can't understand why wall fans are so difficult (impossible?) to find in stores. If you need a fan in a cramped space, or just want to use your desk/shelf space for something else, you need a wall-mount fan. I have a small office, and this 12" fan was just what the doctor ordered. The person who wrote the fan was "wobbly" probably did not mount it properly. You need to read the directions for mounting, because the proper method for mounting is not intuitive. However, once mounted properly it is unusually solid and stable. I'm not sure if I would go so far as the reviewer who wrote that, once the fan was properly mounted, you could hang from it, but that's not far from the truth. This fan has an extra-long cord so you probably won't need to use an extension cord. I like the fact that it has a pull-string to instantly turn off the fan, regardless what speed it is on. It is reasonably quiet and very powerful for its size. I rarely use it on anything more than the lowest speed.

I have to disagree with the wobbly fan person. If you mount it correctly, per the instructions that are included, you can hang from the fan if you wanted to. Now I have two of these in my sun room and they are out of the way mounted on the wall and much more powerful than those cheap fans you get at home depot. Pull string lets me change the fan speed with a short tug I recommend these to anybody with a home garden.

Buy Air King 9012 Commercial Grade Oscillating Wall Mount Fan, 12-Inch Now

I could only find two fans this size for wall mounting. Unfortunately, it is wobbly. On low speed it is not too bad. But at mid or high speed it is very noisy, rattling against the wall. I think the center axle is slightly off-center, but it could be the plastic blades that screw onto it. I am planning to call the manufacturer to see if they will exchange it.

I purchased this fan to get rid of all of the cords my wife had running across the sinks in the bathroom. After showering she'd overheat while doing her hair/makeup in the steamy bathroom. I opted with mounting it on the wall between the sink basins and running the wiring through the wall and into the attic to connect. Yes, the fan is not whisper quiet, but is no louder than most and a great deal quieter than many. You can tilt it to some degree and it is reasonably attractive as oscillating fans go. My wife leaves it on almost continually and I've had no issues with vibrations.

Want Air King 9012 Commercial Grade Oscillating Wall Mount Fan, 12-Inch Discount?

Since it is hard to find a small fan that mounts to a wall, we decided to go with this one. It looks good but on high speed, it is extremely noisy. We can hear it vibrate through the wall and into other bedrooms and across a hall.

Taylor Professional 9306 Dual Temp IR/Thermocouple Thermometer

Taylor Professional 9306 Dual Temp IR/Thermocouple ThermometerA fast-reading thermometer probe is essential for grilling and roasting, and this one works as well as any I have tried, equilibrating in a couple of seconds. Except for getting the temperature of boiling water right on, I have not checked their accuracy claims, but the probe is certainly accurate enough for kitchen use, and given that the readings come from a thermocouple, I would expect the probe measures to be good within a degree or so, maybe better. Taylor is a leading maker of both scientific and consumer temperature-measuring devices or all kinds, so also I would expect the circuitry and durability will be good.

The thing that distinguishes the Taylor from the popular and similarly priced Thermapen, though, is the infrared thermometer. This function reads the surface temperature of objects using IR (heat radiation). For cooks, the main use is to check the temperature of preheated frypans, woks, etc., a function I find myself using at least as often as I use the probe. With a little experimentation, you can figure out the ideal temperature for browning meat, sweating vs. browning onions, or cooking pancakes, stirfries, etc. This makes it much easier to avoid either steaming food you meant to caramelize or burning your good olive oil and smoking up the kitchen. The IR function is not perfect, however. It defaults to a reading simply of "high" somewhere around 500 degrees F., which is not high enough for blackened fish or many wok applications. A more serious limitation is that it does not read effectively off of highly reflective surfaces, such as most stainless cookware, presumably because the probe also reads the temperature of whatever cool surface you see in the reflection. The IR function has worked well with all of the cast iron, anodized aluminum, and non-stick cookware I have tried, and I would expect it to be useful on most dark surfaces. I have no idea how accurate the readings are, but they give about the right melting and smoking temperatures for butter and oils, so they are probably good enough for cooking. Instrument-grade IR thermometers often read much higher temperatures and are probably more accurate. I don't know whether they would also work better with stainless skillets.

Although the Taylor is more expensive than less capable meat thermometers, the combination of fast and accurate probe readings and the ability to calibrate pan-cooking temperatures should make it appealing to serious home cooks.

I really like this product. It has a nice solid compact feel, the buttons are ambidextrous (though a little easier to use correctly in the right hand), its water proof, easy to clean, etc. The probe tip seems to be the same size as most of the other thermocouple thermometers (3mm diameter with a reduced 2mm tip that is 10mm long.

It seems to be fairly accurate, the probe shows the temp of boiling water around 211 and took less then 2 seconds to go from 65 to 211 which is really fast. The infrared part of it is a little harder to gauge. I pointed it at a few things along with my MicroTemp Pro and the Pro normally showed a few deg hotter then the Taylor. Nether gauged boiling water very well since it is "clear". I can't really find anything else that I know should have a defined temp to test it on. But the infrared is really only useful for measuring things like frying pans and the inside of your oven, neither of which require single degree accuracy. The other really (ok relatively) cool thing is they included a built in led light along with the infrared thermometer, while meant for aiming, this is also nice for checking things in a dark oven.

I have never used the Thermapen, which seems to be its chief competition. I could see where the Thermapen could be simpler to use since it is just a probe, and a little easier to read since it has just the temp on its display. But neither of those things seem to much of a draw back vs a built in infrared thermometer for about the same price.

Buy Taylor Professional 9306 Dual Temp IR/Thermocouple Thermometer Now

I received this thermometer as a gift, 2 years ago, when I had asked for a digital instant-read thermometer. Unfortunately the well-meaning gift-giver was not a chef, and chose this one based on marketing hype. It works as advertised, but the display faces the WRONG WAY. It looks like it should work, at first, but as soon as the probe is unfolded, it faces you, forcing you to hold the unit as though you were going to stab yourself instead of the expected probe-out position.

Uh, sorry, that's dead wrong. I do NOT want to hold my arm over the boiling liquid, steaming oven pan, or whatever. It is inconvenient and unpleasant at a minimum; downright dangerous at worst. The display needs to face sideways (as it does on the Thermapen competitor). I've tried to like this unit--after all, it was given with love--but every time I use it, this one problem drives me nuts. I can't believe that anyone with serious kitchen experience was consulted as to the design.

Net: save yourself the hassle and potential injury by getting the Thermapen for the same price.

Works, and is consistent which is more than I can say for any cheaper IR thermometers I've tried. Used it for tempering chocolate, and the IR reading was the same temp as the probe every time. Very convenient for chocolate use. The probe will resolve to a temp within a couple seconds of inserting it, and the IR is pretty much an instant read. Love it.

Want Taylor Professional 9306 Dual Temp IR/Thermocouple Thermometer Discount?

I bought this one because it has dual readings and was told it took readings as quick as 3 seconds.Don't get me wrong this is a good product but, I'm a chef and two of my coworkers have the Thermopen. The thermopen takes readings almost instantly kicking the crap out of my Taylor 9306. My Taylor 9306 has never taken a temp in 3 seconds. my advice is if you work as a chef/cook and need temps really fast spend the extra money on the thermopen. If not this a good product and has worked correctly every time it just takes at least 10 seconds to get your final temp from the probe. The surface temp reader is accurate and instant.

Zojirushi EA-TAC35TK Gourmet Sizzler Electric Griddle

Zojirushi EA-TAC35TK Gourmet Sizzler Electric GriddleThis seems to be a great unit. So far it cleans well without chipping, which was my biggest concern when ordering. One small problem is that there is a space between the cooking unit and the base unit which allows food to spill through.

The biggest concern I have to pass on is that this unit is really BIG. The description mentions that the cooking surface is 13.7", but does not mention that the base unit is 18.5" wide, so make sure you have a space to store it. I had to store mine in my oven.

In my experience, the manufacturer, Zojirushi, makes well-designed products with one or more innovative features that set their products apart from others. In this case the safety features stand out.

This large skillet comes in five pieces. The glass lid, the durable skillet with its titanium ceramic coating, the hot plate base, the plastic base in which everything else fits, and the temperature control plug. Everything comes apart for easy cleaning, so even though there is a large gap between the skillet and the base (otherwise it would melt) spills clean easily.

Because there is a large insulating base, you don't need to worry about damaging your counter tops even though the skillet heats up to 480 degrees. The plug cannot be inserted into the hot plate base unless the skillet is in position on top of the hot plate, and once it is plugged in the skillet locks in place. In other words, it is impossible to expose the hot plate while hot unless you specifically circumvent the safety features.

The unit comes with a little metal spatula, so yes, you can use metal utensils on the non-stick surface. The temperature gauge takes a little algebra to figure out, but the dots are set at 40 degree intervals starting from 280 up to 480 with a somewhat vague area labeled WARM.

The surface is large enough to cook and entire breakfast for one. Three medium sized pancakes... a batch of french toast... hash browns on one side and scrabbled tofu on the other. Just make sure your coffee pot isn't plugged into the same outlet or your could trip a fuse.

I also use the skillet for dinners, stir-fries and such. Because of the two-handle design and flat surface, two utensils and a little patience are required to scoop loose food out. I also fry up batches of chickpea cutlets, eight at a time, so I imagine one could fit quite a few cuts of meat together.

When I'm done, I let the unit cool, wash it up and store it in a large space underneath my counters. A full kitchen might have trouble accommodating the skillet, so a few pots and pans might need to be thrown out. Who needs them, anyway?

All in all, this skillet has alienated my electric stove. I use the stove for baking and for sauces but everything else goes into my sizzler.

Well, I needed to replace my old skillet that died. After hearing about the horrors of Teflon and other non-stick coatings that can come off and toxify foods, I conducted research into alternatives. I could not be happier with the titanium ceramic surface of this skillet! I use it all the time and with metal utensils, and it looks just like new. It is soooo easy to just wipe clean. It all disassembles easily so cleaning is not a problem. I saw in another review that there was a crevice food could fall into and not be reachable and I'm thinking that person must not realize it all comes apart. I love the size -just a little larger than most others. I highly recommend this skillet!!!

After just a few uses the surface started to flake off. I contacxted Zojirushi, and was told to return it to Zojirushi (I paid the shipping, $28.40), it was "repaired" and again after just a few uses, it PEELED off. I followed all the instructions and was very particular with it, but... I have several other Zojirushi products that I am happy with, but this one was a big disappointment.

Ditto to all of the raves on here! I use it for one-dish meals, desserts, breakfasts, everything. My child in college heats frozen pizzas in it, having no oven!

Clean-up takes 60 seconds. It slides apart into four parts, three of them washable: pan, lid, silicone base, and the heating element (not washable, but also not soiled). It's the perfect appliance!

I'm headed out to buy the taller d'Expert, to make soup!

Grill Daddy GL13186 Grand Grill Daddy Steam-Operated Grill-Cleaning Tool

Grill Daddy GL13186 Grand Grill Daddy Steam-Operated Grill-Cleaning Tool1. this is NOT stainless steel as one reviewer below claims. It is light weight "aluminum alloy".

2. this product does NOT squirt out steam. It is just an expensive water squirt gun with a brush on the end. You get the grill red hot and then when you pump the trigger it just squirts cold water onto the grill the grill then creates steam when the water hits it.

3. If the grill is hot enough to create steam the water evaporates so quickly(instantly) that it has no time to penetrate the grime. If you think water will work on your grime you are better off spraying it on an only warm grill and letting it soak in for a few minutes.

If you do think spraying cold water on your grill will work save your money get a good brush and a $1 water squirt bottle .

Very dissapointed with this product AND the "seller". The product is cheaply made. To make matters worse, I bought this for my husb. for Father's Day, and I was embarassed by the cheap quality when he opened it. He tried to be kind but asked me if I could return it.

Guess what?? The answer to that would be "NO", as the company informed me that they have a 30 day return policy (pretty short period for returns which I missed by one (1) day!), AFTER I inquired about returning the product, so we are stuck with this $50.00 piece of junk. Just my own personal opinion of both the product AND the seller.

I would NOT purchase anything from this seller again.

Gave this as a gift to my son and he says it works great. Gets the greasy stuff off the bottom of each grate easily.
