EASY-OFF Oven Cleaner - Heavy Duty Regular Scent Aerosol: 16 OZ

EASY-OFF Oven Cleaner - Heavy Duty Regular Scent Aerosol: 16 OZI'm sure I lost several thousand brain cells using the stuff but it works and doesn't cost too much. recommended

I bought this product with hesitation, since I didnt know if it will remove the tough stains in the oven.... But when I tried, the result was amazing. I will definitely recommend this Heavy Duty oven cleaner. Not expensive too.

I used this product to clean a barely used, but expensive, oven before new tenants moved in. After cleaning (and precisely following instructions), the oven is left with permanent streaks. I've spent hours trying to remove the streaks.

I advise caution when using this product

I dropped a dish with brown sugar in the oven, with it on. It immediately melted to an awful mess. The new EASY OFF is great! I could not believe how easily the sugar wiped up using the wet sponge, then drying it. The job was done in a few minutes and the oven looks as clean as when we got the stove. EASY OFF, wow it is good!

Weber Genesis E-310 637-Square-Inch Grill

Weber Genesis 6511001 E-310 637-Square-Inch 38,000-BTU Liquid-Propane Gas Grill, BlackI had the earlier version of this grill. It survived nearly 10 years outside uncovered in the NJ weather before I moved it to NC. It survived another 8 years or so in NC before it became clear that it's time had come. During that time, I replaced the wooden slats (the slats are gone in the new model and the shelves are stainless steel) and the flavor bars once. I don't remember replacing the burner, but it is a possibility. Some time in this 18 or so years, the starter stopped working I bought a new one and never got around to installing it. This grill owed me nothing, but when the burner finally went and I noticed some bad rust on the slide that holds the bottom on, I decided it was time for a new grill.

I purchased the E310 grill as the replacement and it is great so far seems better than I remember the other grill when it was new. Gets very hot very fast and cooks evenly. I look for a long life out of the new grill too. Seems like a lot of money, but these guys are the real deal.

I also bought a large char-grill so called "professional" model a couple of years ago for another house at a local home center, and it seemed OK. But, the stainless steel housing is now deteriorating and I expect to get about five years total out of it max. I have replaced the flavor bars already and I had to do some rigging them in because the supports were deteriorated. I think I paid about 400 for that grill, so you do the math!

The only complaint I have about the Weber is that the cooking surface is a bit small compared to their competitors on a dollar for dollar basis, but it is generally plenty big unless you are having quite a big party or something. I also note that you should follow the in structions carefully in putting it together. Part of the top shelf is a little tricky be patient and all will go well.

I've had several grills, gas and coal. Gas grills seemed ok at 1st but would not get as hot, or even and then just be a pain to use.

I wanted to buy quality that would last and with research Weber seemed to be a top choice. They cost more, and seemed to have less size/btu specs than the competition costing hundreds less.

I've got to confirm that after building and using the new Genesis 310 LP, I'm convinced that I got what I paid for. This grill is pure quality. Every piece of the grill acts to make it a more solid construction. The Grill Tub itself is solid, thick and looks like it could last forever. Even the cleaning trays are well designed.

I snapped a bolt by over wrenching it when putting it together. It was a Sunday afternoon, so I registered my grill on the web site, then called support. I got a live person in less than 3 min. I gave him my name and zip code and he had all my information from the registration I just submitted. I told him the issue, and they have sent out two new bolt+nuts. He also asked if I had a Weber grill before. I hadn't so I told him such. He then gave me tips on how to clean it, how to light it, and directed me to the weber nation website.

This product was worth the money, and getting free shipping from Amazon just made it better.

Hope that helps anyone sitting on the fence because of price.

I have owned the earlier version of this grill for 12 years, and it has served flawlessly, with some periodic replacement of parts. We recently bought this unit, which has a slightly larger grilling area, and the knobs are on the front, instead of the side, which does provide for two large work areas on either side of the grill. It is a very solid unit, which I am sure will last for years also. However, the burners run from front to back, rather than side to side. Because of the rectangular shape, the result is less burner area, and bigger gaps between the burners. Indeed, this grill takes much longer to heat up, and will not heat past about 550 degrees. The older unit would heat twice as fast and easily reach 700 degrees, which is important for searing, and heat recovery after opening to add or remove food. Additionally, flavorizer bars, which are an important design feature, are not as effective because the flame, which now goes front to back, only touches three of the bars, as opposed to going across all flavorizer bars in the old unit with the flame going side to side, perpendicular to the bars. As a result, the grilling surface heating area is uneven, with some spots hotter than others. If you are interested in very hot grilling surface, you should consider sticking with the side to side burner units with the knobs on the side.

In the past 16 years I have owned 4 grills. The first was a Duquesne natural gas grill. It worked well but after 4 years multiple parts rusted and had to be replaced. After 200.00 in parts It lasted another 2-3 years (it cost 700.00 new). I then bought a stainless steel natural gas grill from Home Depot ( a charbroil for about 500-600 dollars) that rusted out after 5 years and had to be replaced. Three years ago I purchased a stainless steel grill from Lowes (a Perfect Flame It cost 550.00). The last one was the worst. The handles were rusted in less than a year and after three years it was literally falling apart. I did a lot of research before buying the Weber Grill. It cost 200.00 more than my last one. The difference in quality was immediately apparent. The steel is heavier and thicker than my previous grills. It gets very hot, very quickly and steaks are perfect on this grill. I expect it will continue to perform better and last longer than any of my previous grills. My brother is on his third Weber grill, but he bought his first one 30 years ago. Where was he when I bought my first grill 16 years ago?

Want Weber Genesis E-310 637-Square-Inch Grill Discount?

Like everyone else has said:

* it's solid

* it's heavy

* it gets hot really fast...and it gets REALLY hot

* it has remarkably even heating

I'm just trying to push you into buying it if you were like me, debating endlessly whether it was worth the price and in the meantime making due with a mediocre grill.

I had a $100 propane grill that I bought on a whim, and it lasted about a year before I realized:

* half of a piece of meat was cooked and the other half was raw

* grill times were inconsistent and abnormally long

* the grate coating peeled and rusted within months...cleaning with a wire brush just exacerbated this

Looking at the price/year, this one should ideally last 7 years. After a month using it fairly regularly, I think it just might. It's relatively easy to keep clean (the cooking surfaces...the inside is a mess but grills are always a mess inside, in my experience).

So really, what I'm trying to say is, if you like grilling and you grill at least once a week, this one is worth it. It eliminated all of the problems of the other grill for me, and it just feels like grilling should feel ("it just works").

If you make a lot of sauces to grill with that need to be heated up, look into one of the models with the side burner. I don't so I went with the 310.

If you're super serious about grill mark perfection, this one leaves fantastic grill marks effortlessly, but other reviews tend to make me believe the sear station in the higher models is not just a gimmick.

If you're trying to decide between stainless steel grates or coated cast-iron, people say the cast-iron retains heat better and has smaller gaps...beyond that my biggest fear was that it would be harder to clean, but its really not.

Hope that helps!

Tayama Multi-Cooker 2.2 Liter Shabu Yaki

Tayama Multi-Cooker 2.2 Liter Shabu YakiPut boiling broth in the hotpot and it starts boiling again within a couple of minutes. No problem contolling the boiling. Good size for one or two people. My wife and I used it 5 times in the first two weeks.

Product worked as described and is excellent for shabu shabu use, or any situation where a hot/boiling soup or liquid is required at the table.

I haven't tried fondue in it yet, but I'm sure it'll work well for that, too. So far, the shabu shabu I made was great. Unit heats evenly, too.

Buy Tayama Multi-Cooker 2.2 Liter Shabu Yaki Now

This is not the exact Shabu Yaki that I purchased, but is just like it and needed a review. It is the perfect cooker for a fun Mongolian Hot Pot party. Being that it is electric and has the temperature dial to regulate the heat it is the perfect pot to use for a fuss-free party. ANd clean up is a breeze as the pot is just taken off the hot plate and plunged in sudsy water for a quick wash.

For your Hot Pot Party just fill with a nice vegetable broth and get it hot, set out the tray of raw veggies, meats, shrimp, scallops, and several dipping sauces, set everyone up with chopstix and have one of those wire basket spoons handy to retrieve lost morsels. Dinner guests take pieces of meat or veggie and hold it in the boiling broth until it is cooked. Then they let it cool on their plate just a little and spoon a smidgen of one of the sauces on it for a tasty bite. After all the meats and veggies have been cooked and eaten, noodles are tossed in and everyone helps themselves to a portion of noodles in a bowl.

This makes for a great party. Ask your guests to come dressed in Asian style. Set the mood with some Chinese lanterns and a hanging dragon for decoration, put some traditional Chinese music on the CD player, make sure you have plenty of chopstix and the fondu-like fun begins.

I also set up an electric wok at another table and filled it with peanut oil to do tempura battered veggies, shrimp, and to fry egg rolls at the same time. Half my guests started at one table and then after 30 minutes or so they switched with the hot pot table.

I had hidden little red bags with money and small gifts inside in my back yard for the kids to find after dinner, and we set off small fireworks too (sparklers, fountains, party poppers, etc.). Everyone helped themselves to the fortune cookies and some stayed for a game of Chinese checkers (the Mah Jongg game that I had ordered didn't arrive in time).

The kids LOVED this party. My kids and our guests just raved that this was the best one ever. The kids loved cooking their own food. (Make sure you have a sturdy table to set the pots of hot liquid on no card tables)! So get yourself this perfect little cooker and have some Chinese fondu fun at your house soon!!!

Ok ,after reading the previous very good reviews, I chose to order this one. My first use of it, I put in 6 cups of already hot water. After 25 minutes, it was not anywhere near boiling. I removed about half of the water. The pot was filled about 1/3 rd or less. I waited another 15 minutes. It still was not anywhere near boiling. I could put my finger in and it was not hot enough to burn me.

I've tried unplugging it turning the dial down and back up all of the way. Most of the time, the pilot light stayed off. It's pretty obvious to me that it is not going to even come to a simmer (which is all you need for shabu shabu)

I guess I should have tried it before cutting up the amount of meat and veggies that I did.

Not impressed and regretfully I can't join the other 4 satisfied users who left their reviews.

Rösle Chicken Roaster, Stainless Steel

Rösle Chicken Roaster, Stainless SteelThe concept of "Beer-Can Roasted Chicken" has been around for quite a while. A can of beer is inserted into the chicken's cavity, keeping it moist while the bird roasts in a closed grill. However, it is somewhat difficult to have the chicken in the proper vertical position without it falling over (especially if the chicken isn't the only one full of beer.)

This well-made, German gadget has a base that keeps the bird steady. The open cylinder can be filled with the liquid of your choice (beer, wine, orange juice, chicken stock, etc.) and the removable handle can be inserted after the chicken is cooked so it will still be cool and won't take up any unnecessary space in the grill (in case that you want to cook several birds at a time.) This is a well made, straight forward, quality product that should last for decades. I plan on getting one or two more.

I thought that a short video of it in action might be helpful. I grilled a chicken but this product would work for ducks or ever larger Cornish Game Hens. I hope that you enjoy the video!

This stainless steel poultry baster is the best! It hold chicken upright so grease rolls off, and infuses it with whatever liquid you put in funnel...fruit juice or beer. I LOVE IT!

The tongs and flipper and strong, solid and have long handles to keep your digits away from the fire. So big plus there. They are also comfortable and well balanced.

BUT! And it is a big butt, as you can see I put it in all caps. The rubber grip on my tongs is coming loose and won't stay put. That should not happen with a month or so of use. Right? Oven Rack Cleaner 3 Pack

Oven Rack Cleaner 3 PackSorry to say our oven racks hadn't been cleaned since the oven went in 2004. And we cook a lot. Dropped the racks into the bag with the solution, came back 9 hours later and whammo looked like we bought new racks! No stinky chemicals, easy to use, never again will our racks look like they did, this is too easy to be true.

My husband used this product to clean our oven racks yesterday and I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened my oven door and saw "Like New!" racks! I can't remember the last time we cleaned the racks, because you KNOW how hard it is, but this stuff worked like magic!!

He cleaned all three of our oven racks in 1 bag. He did shake it fairly often and instead of leaving it in the bag 8 hours, he left them in about 24 (not sure why). But now my oven looks like it did the day we got it and I couldn't be more thrilled!

I highly recommend this oven rack cleaner!

Barb

I hate cleaning racks in our self-cleaning oven. They must be cleaned separately and since we broil meat in our oven the racks are plenty messed up. I am, by nature, a pessimist and I did not believe that Carbona would work. Imagine my surprise when after an overnight soak they were as clean as if they were new. Only a little scraping was necessary where months and months of cooking had turned the grease to varnish.

Read Best Reviews of Oven Rack Cleaner 3 Pack Here

My range (Maytag Gemini) has two ovens a smaller, single rack upper oven and a larger, double-rack, lower one. I usually clean the racks by soaking them for several hours in the bathtub with ammonia and water, rinsing them, changing the water and then dissolving a couple of dishwasher gel packs in the fresh water and soaking them overnight. It does a fair job, but tends to scratch the tub and also ties up use of the tub for quite a while.

The ad for this product sounded optimistic, so I gave it a try.

I followed the instructions carefully and put all three racks in the bag, poured in the solution and left it overnight. I took out the smaller oven rack, which wasn't all that dirty to start with, and it had cleaned up fairly well. No one would mistake it for a new rack, though. The two other racks were still visibly dirty, so I left them overnight again. I just rinsed them and could see very little change from the way they started out. I scrubbed the racks with a Scotch-brite sponge and still couldn't remove some of the baked on grease.

Back to the bathtub.

Save your money this stuff doesn't work.

Want Oven Rack Cleaner 3 Pack Discount?

I was skeptical about this when I saw it on the supermarket shelf. I was actually looking to buy one of those spray cleaners and saw this for the racks. I figured I'd give it a shot, and like the box said, my racks look brand new. I hadn't cleaned them at all since 2006 (I know, I know...ick!) and after years of spills, I was finally disgusted enough to get them clean. I honestly did not expect them to get so clean. I thought the bag would break, but it didn't and I had 2 full-sized oven racks in there. I decided to have them rest for the 8 hours in my bath tub just in case there was spillage, but the bag helf up very well. So, overall I'd recommend this product to anyone.

Pros:

*cleans years of grease off very easily

*returned my oven racks to "new"

*I did not have to get my hands dirty at all

*very minimal scrubbing to wash off any remainder of grease, but it came off easily

*the cleaner did not seem to me to have any harsh fumes at all, but then again, I didn't come in contact with it for long just to pour it into the bag and close the bag.

*Excellent price for what you get and what the product does

Cons:

*It's annoying that it takes 8 hours to get it clean, but I rather have that then to do the work myself which would take as long and have worse results

*Because my racks slant up at the edge, they didn't sit flat in the solution. I had to go and shake up the bag to make sure the solution kept coating the racks, but I did this maybe 2 or 3 times through the entire process

*I didn't know if the plastic bag was recyclable afterwards or not; I ended up throwing it away because it came into contact with the cleaner, but I wish there was a way to recycle it (or if it can be recycled, it should be clearly labeled)

Breville BSG520XL Panini Duo 1500-Watt Nonstick Panini Press

Breville BSG520XL Panini Duo 1500-Watt Nonstick Panini PressThe immediate comparison I made when I received this Panini press was to the Cuisinart GR-3 Griddler Jr, Brushed Stainless Steel, and the key difference between the two products (and the reason I'm giving the better constructed, perhaps even better performing press three stars rather than five) is you can remove the plates in the Cuisinart, and you cannot in the Breville. Convenience and ease of use are central considerations when it comes to just how much you're going to want to use these 'extra' kitchen devices, and if it's a headache to clean something like burnt/stuck preserves, then you're going to be less likely to want to pull it out and use it again.

I want to back up a little bit, because I think Breville generally designs and manufactures outstanding high-quality but still affordable products. This press is no exception. Having used both this Breville and the aforementioned Cuisinart, I would give the Breville the edge on almost every single front. It feels more solidly constructed of higher quality materials, it seems to heat more evenly, although the Cuisinart does allow a range of temperature settings as opposed to Breville's one-temp-fits-all approach. I actually like having one flat and one grilled plate in the Breville, compared to the two grilled plates in the Cuisinart -the flat surface providing a much more even and consistent heat that really radiates into the middle of the sandwich better than the more limited surface contact provided by just grill plates (but you still have the all-important texture and grill marks from the top plate). Both adapt to larger sandwiches. Both sport non-stick surfaces (although the Breville's is much smoother as the Cuisinart employs a grittier non-stick treatment). Both are perfectly sized for a couple good-sized sandwiches, without all the wasted space that comes with and from the larger models in each line.

I like this press enough that even as I wrap this review up I wonder if I should be giving it 4 stars rather than 3. Standing on its own, it deserves every bit of 4 stars. It's when it's held in contrast to a like-priced alternative like the Cuisinart that the Breville loses some of its luster, and then really only due to a question of pure convenience (in the form of removable plates).

If those removable plates aren't of particular importance to you, I actually recommend this press over the Cuisinart. For me, the convenience of cleaning the removable plates provide is what makes it an easy decision between the two when I want to grill a sandwich.

1. PERFORMANCE

First, I'd like to discuss the performance of the unit. It's brilliant! I honestly didn't have high expectations for a hot sandwich press, but I've been very happy with it over the past month. Here are some of the items that I've made the most and my remarks:

Sandwich Wraps: Absolutely fantastic results. I can tailor the cooking time for how firm I want the tortillas to be, and the internal ingredients are nice and hot. Having a flat bottom plate and ridged upper plate gives them a perfect combination of toasting and grill marks. The ability to set a minimum height between the top and bottom plates works wonders for veggie wraps because otherwise (at least with mine) the ingredients don't support the weight of the top plate and the wraps get smashed. The tortillas slide right off the non-stick coating, and any ingredients that spill out during cooking have cleaned up very easily.

"Grilled" burritos: Again, fantastic. Just like a sandwich wrap but with other ingredients. I've started to grill these with the fold facing upwards to help prevent ingredients (such as salsa or guacamole) from leaking out during cooking.

French Toast: Works pretty well. I have made it three times so far, each time with the lid down but locked in the second highest position (I haven't tried just cooking one side of the toast by leaving the lid up, yet). If the bread isn't too wet, then it works very well. If the bread is very moist, though, it doesn't cook through to the center very well. With the egg, this items does make it a bit more difficult to clean the non-detachable ribbed top plate.

Pancakes: Works pretty well. The two drawbacks are that the top plate is still being heated even though I'm not using it, and (more important for cooking performance) the temperature of the griddle portion isn't adjustable. Pancakes do come out pretty well, but not as good as on my other griddle that I use on the stove. Also, for some reason the first batch of pancakes sticks to the griddle a bit. I haven't run into that on any other food so far.

Ham: Cooked great, but I'll never do it again because of the mess. Because of the splatter from the juices, I closed the top lid. The bottom flat plate was pretty easy to clean off, but the ribbed top plate took a while because the nooks and crannies of the ribs make it more difficult.

2. WHAT I REALLY LIKE

The floating hinge. That is fantastic and makes cooking thick sandwiches and wraps easy.

The locking height adjustments. This works wonders for less solid foods like toast and veggie wraps.

The front handle. Might seem silly to mention, but the handle stays cool and opens the press easily.

3. WHAT I WOULD CHANGE

Add a power button. I would prefer to not have to unplug it to turn it off. When the unit is heating, there is a decent spark that gets generated at the outlet when I unplug it (same thing happens with my George Forman grill)

Make the heating plates removable, at least the top ribbed plate. These clean up pretty easily, so this is minor, but it can be a bit tedious trying to clean the top plate.

Add a temperature adjustment. This is pretty minor to me because it typically works great, but for pancakes (which are shown on the box as a breakfast item), an adjustment would be nice.

4. FIT AND FINISH

This is my third Breville appliance, and I was expecting the same level of fit, finish, and attention to detail on this press as I had with the other two (Breville BJE200XL Juice Fountain and Breville BKC700XL Coffeemaker). Upon opening the box, the packaging (at least of my unit) was a bit sloppy with the protective plastic bag around the press not fully covering it. After taking the unit out of the box, I noticed that the fit and finish aren't as nice as my juicer and coffee maker. For example:

Some of the bolt holes and rounded corners on the lever arms are sharp as if they weren't properly deburred.

The bottom plate has some rough patches on it

The power cord and cord-wrap on the bottom plate aren't very well design, IMO (but that's just personal preference)

I mention all of that for one reason if you are looking at this press because it is a Breville and you have a certain expectation of quality like I did, then those comments might be important to you. I did not remove any stars for this because the unit is nice it's just not as nice as I had expected from this brand (which I think actually speaks highly of the brand).

Buy Breville BSG520XL Panini Duo 1500-Watt Nonstick Panini Press Now

Since 2006 I have owned and regularly use a Breville 800GRXL Die-Cast Indoor Barbeque and Grill for making panini, grilling, and more. Previously I owned and was greatly disappointed by the Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler with removable plates. The removable plates are a nice concept, but not an important feature for me. Knowing the quality of the Breville 800GRXL, I eagerly wanted to try the Breville BSG520XL Panini Duo. Even so, I didn't think I would want to use both over time.

The Panini Duo is a no fuss non-stick panini press. The top floating hinged ribbed plate and flat bottom plate are coated with non-stick Quantanium(tm) allowing for oil free cooking while resistant to scratching even when using metal utensils. The top plate features adjustable height settings for making open faced sandwiches or desserts.

At first I compared the Panini Duo to my 800GRXL and thought I would miss features such as the drip tray, plate tilt feature, or the ability to lay out flat. However the lack of features and versatility of the Panini Duo, by comparison, are by design. The purposes of these two appliances are not the same.

The simplicity of the Panini Duo is this appliances strongest feature. I can quickly make two paninis by plugging in the outlet, assemble the sandwiches while waiting for the green light, and placing the paninis into the press. Since oil is not required, I made panini without buttering the bread. I prefer the butter flavor; however the bread still came out a toasty brown and crisp. I have toasted buns for burgers by leaving the top open. Additionally I reheated pizza by using the adjustable height feature to heat from above and below. These are all tasks I could accomplish with the larger feature rich Breville 800GRXL, but not with the same ease and efficiency.

While I will use the larger more versatile Breville 800GRXL for cooking breakfast, grilling, and preparing larger meals, the Panini Duo has become my favorite appliance to prepare a quick hot sandwich. The compact size is perfect for making lunch for me and my other half while taking little counter or storage space. If you are looking for a simple panini press for two, the Breville Panini Duo is the perfect choice.

PROS:

Quantanium non-stick surface

Simple to use and care for

Adjustable height feature for melt and open face sandwiches

Oil/butter not needed for healthier cooking

Perfect for a family of two

CONS:

Lacks features found in many panini presses

I also own the Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler Stainless-Steel 4-in-1 Grill/Griddle and Panini Press, which also works for paninis, and what I mainly compared this to. The Breville is designed mainly for paninis, but it can be used for most griddle functions like bacon, pancakes, The product states that you do not need butter or oil due to the surface of the grill plates. While this is true and I found that the sandwiches don't stick to the surface very easily, butter or a non-stick spray makes for an easier cooking experience and a better-tasting sandwich. I think the main thing you want to look for in a grill or panini press is how powerful it is. The Breville is 1500w, which is about as powerful as you're going to get for a panini press. Anything too low, like a George Foreman grill (which ranges from 700-11100 watts), and your sandwich will not cook evenly or quickly. The second thing you usually want to look for is a floating hinge, which the Breville also has. This means that the hinge is not static and rises and lowers in height so that it adjusts for whatever size sandwich you're cooking. The Breville rises up to 2", which is really all you need for a panini (anything higher than that and the inside of your monstrous sandwich will not cook). The hinge also has a lock on it with four different settings, so you can lock the top plate in place instead of having it rest completely on the sandwich. This is something that most other presses don't have. I noticed they recommended one setting for toast, and I did find it created some decent toast, but it was a pain having to watch it and I don't think it will be replacing my toaster oven anytime soon. You can also use this to cook an open face melt, which I tried and came out perfectly. This is great for open face tuna and chicken salad melts, which you can't cook on a regular panini press. The third thing you want to look for is an adjustable temperature setting. The Breville doesn't have one of those, although this is really more important for grilling and not as critical if you're using the press solely for paninis. There are times where you might want to use a lower setting; for instance, if you have a sandwich with a lot of cheese inside it, you would want it on a lower temperature to ensure the cheese cooks before the outside of the bread burns. The average home cook probably doesn't need this though. It appears that the single setting temperature on the press comes out to about 350°.

The size of the press is big enough to hold 2 sandwiches (even using larger panini bread) without having to jam them up against each other. Considering the size of the press, one of the best things about this model is that you can lock the plates and store it vertically. I have a small kitchen and my Cuisinart Griddler takes up a considerable footprint in it. This press is too big and heavy to really store in a cabinet, so you kind of need to leave it sitting out on the counter. Fortunately, it takes up very little room when stored vertically. I wish all presses did this.

My only real problem with the Breville, and the reason I can't give it five stars, is that the cooking plates are not removable for easy cleanup. I have no idea why they didn't do that. It would be so handy to snap off the plates and run them under the faucet with some soap. Given that the bottom plate is flat, it's not too difficult to clean if you cook a regular sandwich on it, but I like to use the press for things like fish and chicken, and they can make a real mess on the grill (especially the top plate which has grill lines). Snap off plates would have made this product perfect. Until they add that, I'd have to recommend the Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler Stainless-Steel 4-in-1 Grill/Griddle and Panini Pressover it.

When the Breville Panini Press first arrived, I was skeptical that it would provide us with healthy meals or earn a permanent spot on our already clutter counter of small appliances. We already had a Smoothie Maker, a Quesadilla Maker, an Espresso machine, a Senseo, a multitasking Toaster Oven, a Food Steamer, an Electric Wok, a stand-alone coutertop Convection Oven and several more "Foodie" trends. We used the Panini Press right away and loved it but in the back of my mind, I wondered if our infatuation with it was just another passing fancy. I'm pleased to say that after a year of use, we still turn to our Panini Press at least 4 nights a week for either our main course or to prepare light snacks. Almost all the other small appliances I listed above have been swept OFF the counter and a special place of honor created for the Breville. Why? well, how about we start with the fact that since we've been using it both my wife and I have dropped over 20 Pounds? Yeah, that got your attention eh?

I admit, it took us a few days of experimentation to learn how NOT to overstuff a sandwich as well as which spreads to use in what amounts. Getting it right almost forces you to eat smaller amounts but we didn't mind because of the new variety of sandwiches and grilled wraps we could toast up. Once we got the size and portion issues down, we were making all manner of new, low fat, high nutrition hot sandwiches with smaller amounts of new, sharper cheeses, aged or smoked meats and savory condiments as well as adding in some marinated and/or freshly thin-sliced vegetables. The Floating Hinge is really great and allows you to use artisan breads made from many whole grains without worrying about breaking the machine. There is a limit to how big a meal you can make but our slederized waistlines like that. It's not a negative for us. We view it as "automatic portion control". The machine is very easy to use right out of the box and becomes even easier over time. You don't need to add any fat to the cooking surface which is great! In addition, once the grilling surface is hot enough, a "Ready" light pops on.

A big plus in my eyes is that you can adjust the top grill with the ribs in it that makes the "grill marks" so the floating hinge can handle different thickenesses of bread, or meats if you're using it that way. You can also set the top plate so that it radiates heat downwards like a broiler for wonderful open-faces melts. We like grilling meat on the Press almost as much as making a new Panini flavor! Finally, the bottom grill is flat and perfect for Sunday morning Lemon Ricotta Pancakes or Stuffed French Toast! Honestly, the Breville does so many thing that we rarely turn on a burner or the oven anymore which is a huge convenience for us since we live in a home in Los Angeles without Central Air Conditioning. It heats up quickly and cools down fast -long before the cooking heat from the grills have any time to turn my kitchen into a sweltering nightmare.

We love our Breville so much that we gave one to my parents for a Christmas gift along with a recipe book. They enjoy it as much as we do but more for the convenience of cooking for two people than for the reasons I mentioned. That actually is a big selling point. If you live alone or are a couple without kids, it makes grilling up a steak and serving a great salad about 15 minute affair from start to finish, including the easy cleaning y wiping it down with a paper towel. if you have kids of any age, it makes it easy for you to cook something up for them in minutes or allows older kids to just make what they want.

We are still using ours more than every other night and we haven't gotten bored or tired of the possibilities for it yet. That's saying something since our Quesadilla maker is back in it's box, the Smoothie Maker broke and the Breville and the Toaster Oven are the only two small appliances I still keep out on the counter. Since we got our Panini Press, we've both lost weight and we find we are enjoying a greater variety of entrees than we did before it arrived. It's just so convenient to use that even the fast food franchises close by and the Sandwich shops I used to love the indulge in on weekends no longer seem like viable options when we can plug in the Press and have something better, faster and in our own home without having to get in the car. Our Breville provides us with really fast food , but fast food of the nutritious variety!

We highly recommend this to anyone for themselves or as a gift. It's one of the few small appliances that earns what little counterspace it takes up. It's well-made, easy to use and can be a real help to someone trying to cook in a small kitchen during the heat of summer. If mine ever broke, and it shows no signs of wear & tear yet, I'd immediately buy a new one!

Dimplex DFI2310 Electric Fireplace Deluxe 23-Inch Insert, Black

Dimplex DFI2310 Electric Fireplace Deluxe 23-Inch Insert, BlackIt looks amazingly like a real wood fire in our fireplace. It's easy to install, as long as your fire box is big enough, and you have a nearby electrical outlet. This "deluxe" model DFI2310 differs from the standard model DFI2309 by having a larger, brighter, even more realistic flame, for a somewhat higher price. The heaters can be turned off completely, for when it's warm, but you want that cozy fireplace ambiance.

On the "needs improvement" end, the remote control only turns the insert on and off; it does not control the optional heating elements, which can only be turned on or off at the unit itself. Mine arrived with all switches "on" so I got heat as soon as it was plugged in. It would be better to ship with all switches set to "off."

Also, there's no crackle or pop sound, so if wood fire sounds are important to you, this is not the electrical insert for you. However, if crackles and pops aren't that important to you, and you're looking for a very realistic looking, reasonably-priced unit with heating options, this is one well worth considering.

I'm writing this review because of how helpful I found other reviews before buying this fireplace. I did my homework, reading some 150+ reviews and watching Youtube videos of people's Dimplex fireplaces, before deciding on this model and it paid off! This is probably the best electric fireplace out there for the money (if there's a better one I can't afford it anyway!) I very happy with it and everyone who comes to my house thinks it looks very real (they all knew I bought a fake one so I'm still waiting to "fool" someone who doesn't know!) CSN (the company that provides the fireplace) has the BEST customer service dept to call. Whenever I called, I got someone different and they were ALL very nice and helpful.

The fireplace flames look as real as you can get, so real sometimes you think you hear crackling! It does make a slight whirring kind of sound (motor?) but you can only hear it in a quiet room (no TV, etc) and only if you're really listening for it. But it is an electric product so I guess you can expect SOME kind of sound to come from it! Like I said, it's very faint.

Overall, I'm very pleased. I used to use about 10 candles in my fake fireplace and always worried I'd start the house on fire and had to deal with dripping, etc. so it's nice not to have that worry anymore! The logs look very realistic (this model has the ceramic logs, not the styrofoam ones) and I don't know how they do it but it's pretty cool the way they make the flames (there's nothing you can "stick your hand in to see if it's real", it's done with a mirror somehow). Plus, don't be put off by other reviews that say they don't like the "half moon" effect on the background. I was worried about that but when I got it, it looked perfectly realistic to me! I've tried the heater to make sure it works, but it's still hot in Florida so I won't be using it for a while! It seems to work great, I just can't tell you how well it heats up a room at this point because it's not cold outside! I had no problem with the cord but then my outlet is next to my fireplace.

I checked out the fireplaces at the home stores and their flames looked so fakey compared to this one's and they were the same price or more. So trust me, I did my homework and researched to get the best at the best price, so you can trust my review!

1/12/11 update: I've had this fireplace for a few months now and absolutely love it! Everyone who comes over thinks its real! As for the heat, well, it's been pretty cold here in Florida and I have to say, you really can only feel the heat if you're standing right in front of the fireplace! It may "warm" the room up a bit, but if you're sitting on the floor in the room you can't really feel it blowing on you. It sort of blows up and out instead of directly forward and I don't know if this makes a difference or not. It's still a heat source but I use my central heater (mostly because I just had to buy a new one last year and it works great) the majority of the time.

For many years in the winter months, especially at Christmas time, I have made a real fire in our fireplace to get that cozy "focal point of the room" feel. Which is great, except for the work involved buying the firewood, trying to get the kindling to light, adding more wood when necessary, and of course the long and dirty cleanup the next day. What if I could click a button on a remote to obtain the same result, and then click a button to turn it off, with no cleaning ever required? Well now I can.

This insert is a perfect fit for my fireplace and is bright enough and visible even behind the glass and metal gauze doors. While the "flames" are not 100% realistic, they are extremely effective in getting the effect I was looking for. And it is a sheer joy to be able to turn the unit on and off with the small, simple remote as needed.

This insert also has the ability to generate heat, but I have never used it for this purpose. Note that the "heat" option cannot be activated via the remote control; it needs to be turned on through a switch on the unit itself. That is obviously not a problem for me as we have central heating to keep the house warm, and I use the fireplace strictly for ambiance. I actually prefer that the heat is more difficult to turn on as I would not want my children to do this accidentally.

Note that to avoid a trailing power cord you will need to do what I did and have an electrician wire an outlet into your fireplace.

Perfect cozy winter ambiance that I can turn on and off at the flick of a switch, and nothing to clean up, ever. What's not to love?

We rent a craftman style house with a wood burning fireplace. However, we cannot use the fireplace since it creates a lot of smoke, not only outside but also inside.

The quick solution was to purchase this Dimplex Deluxe insert. I've done quite a bit of reviewing and ended up with buying this one. The use of LED lights instead of incandescent light bulbs was a deal breaker.

However, when I read the manual after having the insert installed in the fireplace, I noticed that this insert is also powered with incandescent light bulbs. Two 60 Watt candelabra type light bulbs. That's a total of 120 Watts, without the heat setting on.

Otherwise I would have given this product 5 stars.

Want Dimplex DFI2310 Electric Fireplace Deluxe 23-Inch Insert, Black Discount?

Our fireplace insert arrived quickly w/o any damage. Thank you Amazon. We had no problem installing the insert & getting it running. We were surprised, however, to discover that the "remote" does nothing more than switch it on & off. The description needs to inform potential customers that switching on the heat, or changing the heat level, requires reaching inside the fireplace to work the manual switches located inconveniently at the upper right corner. We were also surprised that there is no thermostat to maintain a desired room temperature! It's my fault for not reading the description more closely, but I really expected a thermostat because that is a feature found on even cheap electric heaters. Dimplex dropped the ball here. In spite of those two disappointments, this unit is worth four stars for quality construction, easy installation, quiet operation, and realistic appearance of the log set & flames.

Vacu Vin 2977450 2-1/2-Quart Instant Marinating Container

Vacu Vin 2977450 2-1/2-Quart Instant Marinating ContainerI had a much older marinator but it finally broke after many years, so I ordered this one. The pump has greatly improved; so much easier. But the bowl has a very stupid design. The bottom of the bowl is not level...it's "humped" whereby the middle section is raised and the area near the edges (where the bottom of the bowl meets the sides) are much lower. I don't get the reasoning behind this! So, part of the meat (the portion that's against the edge) is in the marinade, but the remaining portion of the meat (the part that's not shoved against the edge) doesn't touch the marinade unless you pour a HUGE amount of marinade in the bowl to fill up the entire bottom. Dumb design. I wish I knew this feature before I bought it, but the picture doesn't reveal this.

This new larger and stronger model works even better than the discontinued one. The larger size will hold roasts and the larger pump pulls the air out faster. The marinater works great: The flavors of the marinade taste fresher and things like lemon zest really sing. It really speeds up the marinating and tenderizing process.

I found the lid hard to remove because the suction was so strong, but pulling out the whole stopper helps it come right off. The container and lid are very strong and durable, so the problems of the older model have been eliminated. This Instant Marinater is a great timesaver in the home and for the outdoor BBQ.

I had to replace our old VacuVin Instant Marinater because it cracked under the pressure! This new model is bigger and stronger and it is easier to tell when I've sucked out enough air.

The 3 main complaints I've noticed on this product are that, there are no instructions telling how much air to pump out, that you can't get the cover off easily, and the bottom of the container is rounded inwards. I want to mention that there are indeed instructions on the box holding the pump (10 pumps max for a full container, 25 max for 1/2 full.) To get the cover off, just nudge the rubber thing on top to the side indicated by the triangles that will let air in. As for the solution to the bottom of the container, the only things I can think of are that maybe it's their attempt to get the marinade under your food (though I would think ridges on a flat bottom would do a better job,) or maybe it's because it's a stronger shape so it doesn't implode as easily.) Anyway, I've found this product works as advertised, and although it's supposed to be "instant", I recommend keeping food in it for a few hours to let the acids in the marinade to do its job.

This past summer was when I finally started getting into grilling. I had been marinating my meats in either a Tupperware or plastic bag. Then, I read about this item, so I purchased it. It seems to work just fine. I'ved used it more than 30 times. In each case I'd add the marinade to the meat, and place in the refrigerator while I go to work. I haven't had any problems with implosion, and it's easy to tell when there's enough vacuum it get VERY hard to pump. It's well made out of thick plastic [polycarbonate?] and has plenty of room inside. Now if only I was better at choosing tasty marinades, I'd be all set.

V Rib Rack for Big Green Egg, Primo, Kamado Ceramic Grills

V Rib Rack for Big Green Egg, Primo, Kamado Ceramic GrillsWorth the $$. I have bought other racks in the past, but of poor quality and the finishes dont last. This one should last a very long time.

I have the type of friends who seem to have everything so they are very difficult to shop for. One of the anniversary gifts I gave them was this v-rack for their green egg and they love it! It fits perfectly in the egg and they recently had me over to sample the tasty offerings. The ribs were fall-of-the-bone good! Unlike the rack they were previously using, this one enabled the lid to be closed completely because it's custom fit for it and the meat cooks more evenly when elevated. If you have someone who doesn't have accessories to accompany their Green Egg, I highly recommend this product. Just make sure you get the right size.

The sides on this rack aren't high enough for anything but baby back ribs. If this is what you cook, go for it, but if you like a meatier rib, such as country... this won't work well, doesn't hold the ribs up.

On the positive side, you can use it for both.

On the negative, the sharp geometry of the rack does not give the same support as one rounded at the edges and you can get a roasting rack for less money.

Berndes SignoCast Classic 12-Inch Square Grill Pan

Berndes SignoCast Classic 12-Inch Square Grill Pani HAVE HAD SEVERAL DIFFERENT BRANDS OF stove top grill pans. Berndes is the very best. It comes with a lifetime guarantee. I use two at a time now, and have given a countless number to friends and family as gifts. Everyone loves the eveness of the cooking and the very easy clean-up!

I saw this pan being used at a cooking demonstration by a chef who was not pushing any product. I immediately noticed how easy it was to clean after it's use. That was the major reason I became interested.

It cooks evenly and cleans so much easier than my other grill pans. It's light weight and a must for any kitchen.

In the beginning I was only looking for a George Foreman kind of small grill machine so we can still enjoy grill steaks & burgers in winter. But I just couldn't find a machine with the right size & function in my price range. I especially dislike that fact that with most of those machines you can't really control the temperature well. Then I saw someone's blog mentioned Berndes grill pan & I was immediately attracted by its features. Comparing to the grill machine this is more like real cooking so naturally for me, a homemaker who enjoys cooking, this fits my needs much better so I'm willing to spend more. Before I finally made my purchase I've read so many reviews about Berndes. People brag about how good its non-stick surface work. I was a little skeptical, but I'm a believer now that I've used it for a week. I've used it for grilled chickens, steaks, fishes, lamb chops & they're all good, plus I could rid off lots of fat. The pan is very easy to clean too. Yesterday I whipped a few eggs, wanted to make scramble egg but decided to test my Berndes Grill pan on how non-stick it can be. Without applying any oil I pour my whipped eggs on the pan & turn to medium heat. A few minutes later I pulled up an egg sheet(with light grill marks) and my Berndes pan is as clean as it hasn't been used. Neat~

Amazon has the best price for this 12" pan. Thanks to Amazon!

CucinaPro Stainless Steel Electric Skillet

CucinaPro 1454 Stainless Steel Round Classic Electric Skillet 16 InchI'm very satisfied with my purchase. I wanted a stylish electric skillet. I did not want one with a non-stick coating, as those tend to flake off over time. I wanted something that had enough eye-appeal to use on a buffet table or to carry to potlucks. Typically, I use this skillet for lightly fried Italian dishes like scallopini, breaded zucchini, and chicken piccata. Having a temperature dial is useful when making these dishes as you can easily keep the oil at proper temperature to crisp the food without getting it soggy. This skillet does tasks that my deep fryer and crock pot do not do well. Basically, a deep fryer is too large for scallopini, and a crock pot is too deep for certain buffet presentations. Recently, I took it to a pot luck and used it to serve Buffalo wings. The instructions indicated that the pan needs to be "seasoned" before first use to avoid sticking. I did have some complications in seasoning the pan. When I called customer service, they said the easiest way to season the pan is to cook bacon in it. Any excuse to eat bacon is usually a good one. I did manage to properly season my pan and I do not have problems with sticking. The glass lid is nice. It has a tiny hole in it to allow steam to escape.

I have been looking for a large, high quality skillet, electric frying pan for a while. I decided to replace my current non-stick pan because it just didn't work right. It didn't get hot enough and scratched easily. The last time i used it i got so frustrated i unplugged it and walked out the door and threw it in the trash, still hot. so i began to research. You know, all of the pans at target, sears, williams sonoma are just junk. i guess people are just settling for lower quality items. Not me. I wanted a stainless steel pan. Non-stick is just not cutting it. anyway i read some of the negative reviews on this pan and was hesitant. So i called the company and was greeted by a very friendly woman that put my concerns to rest. i got the pan and messed up the seasoning process. I again called the company and was told to use a brillo pad but not while the pan was in water. If the pan is under water the steel fragments get inside the plug elements and short out. Anyway, i used the pad, came out great and then seasoned it by cooking a pound of bacon in it. I was set to go. I cooked summer sliced squash dipped in a egg wash and then seasoned bread crumbs and fried them in olive oil at about 325 degrees. (kind of an italian thing) The results were outstanding. The squash browned perfectly. It heated evenly and retained its temperature throughout the process. Cleaning was a breeze. I just slowly added about a cup of water, let it come to a boil and deglazed the pan. It was that simple. Who needs non-stick. That stuff is not a healthy product. I really had to look hard for this pan and would not settle for second best. I knew what i wanted and found it with this item. If you want a VERY LARGE, QUALITY pan then this is for you. Someone mentioned the sharp edge on the top ridge but i don't see that at all. The only problem, if it is one, is that there is no mark as a temperature guide setting. I called and asked and was informed that the light indicator is the mark. i don't see a problem with where the plug is located, in fact i think it is a logical place because if you are going to move the pan you should unplug it. Its a great pan. I am a woodworker and my wife thought it hilarious that instead of asking for some type of tool for my birthday i wanted an electric frying pan. Oh yeah, it does a great job frying italian peppers. Life is good.

Today, however, I plugged it in and it won't work. The light on the plug is lit up, but there is no heat. I tried multiple outlets to no avail. I then called the company, but the phone was disconnected. I found their website, but it doesn't appear that they make the product anymore. I will try a different number on Monday. Charcoal Companion Stainless Steel Grill Pro Griddle

Charcoal Companion Stainless Steel Grill Pro GriddleI picked up this griddle and do burgers on it, seems to cook really well and distribute the heat well. Make sure you have a plan to empty the grease though ievery once and a while because it'll start a fire if you dont :)

Stay away from this griddle. It does not distribute heat in the least. You end up with extreme hot spots in the middle where stuff burns instantly, and you can actually put your hand on the edge without burning it (as a sign of how little it spreads heat.) The only positive I can say is that it didnt catch on fire or explode. Worst purchase ever on amazon. Will try to return if can do so after using.
