Panasonic NN-CD989S Genius "Prestige" 1.5 cuft 1100-Watt Sensor Convection Microwave with Inverter

Panasonic NN-CD989S Genius 'Prestige' 1.5 cuft 1100-Watt Sensor Convection Microwave with Inverter Technology, Full Stainless SteelThis new Panasonic Convection Microwave machine is hands down the best appliance in my kitchen and worth every penny. Here's why:

Positives:

1. Extremely well built Solid precision latches make it sound like a Mercedes car door when you close it.

2. Intuitive Very user friendly. Easy to figure things out without having to pour over the owner's manual, unlike a lot of other microwaves. The time knob lets you quickly dial in 10 second increments of time, or you can let the machine autosense when it's hot using the reheat mode. It has a digital readout which tells you the next step in the process on certain options and provides status of where you are at in the cooking cycle as well.

3. New Technology The Inverter Technology provides much more even heat, with very few hot spots. When I warm hard refrigerated quarters of butter in the morning so I can spread it on my toast, it softens evenly, unlike my previous micro that melted a big hole in the middle and left the rest hard. In the defrost mode, the food is thawed evenly, unlike the cooked edges that some micro's leave.

4. Performance This machine cooks quickly and evenly and when you combine the micro and convection its extremely fast. In the combination mode the micro power is dropped to 30% and then combined with full convection heat to cook quickly and evenly. Lots of other features...the keep warm option, the broil and bake options, the easy to use dials, digital temperature guage, great recipe book, cooking recommendations, and owners manual.

5. The Look Very sleek and very professional. Easy to clean and a kitchen show piece. You'll gets lots of compliments on it.

Negatives:

1. Size As with all of my appliances I wish it was a bit larger, but it WILL allow a 9X13 rectangular glass casserole to rotate.

2. Trim Kit Mine is also a built in, so I had to buy a separate trim kit which was not included in the price.

3. Customer Support Panasonics only big mistake with this product, as they appear to have outsourced customer support to an overseas group. I had inquired about use of the wire rack when doing straight microwaving. Conflicting answers. Agents hard to understand and not very knowledgeable. Not sure my first contact even knew what a microwave convection oven was. All she could do was read a script. I know Panasonic feels that have to do this to remain price competitive (like many other companies out there) but it's certainly the weakest part of their product. Lets hope congress takes away the incentives and starts penalizing companies that ship jobs overseas.

All in all, it's a great second oven for baking, cooking, reheating, defrosting, letting bread rise, keep food warm during meal prep, etc. Great purchase. Highly recommended if you're looking for the best.

This is a very user friendly microwave. If you only use the microwave function, I am sure you'd be happy with it. But it's also a handy little oven. I have made pizzas, cookies, and even a pork loin roast in it! I cooked the pork loin using the combo cooking function (microwave plus convection) just to test it out. The results were very good; a nice moist roast. A 14-in round pizza pan or stone fits in it and also (just barely!) a 9x13 baking dish. And yes, you CAN put metal pans in it when in oven mode. When we first got it we set it up on the counter in our main kitchen for a couple weeks and played around with it. Then we moved it to our newly renovated "bar" in the basement which truthfully is a small, very functional kitchen. This oven is a great solution as we can use it for popcorn, etc. in microwave mode, but also bake pizzas. Another idea I haven't actually done yet is to use it to bake or warm a casserole for a big holiday dinner when my main oven is busy cooking a turkey or something. In fact I like this oven so much I've decided that when we renovate the main kitchen I am NOT going to opt for the double wall ovens but instead get a regular range plus another one of these and then I will have 2 ovens plus a microwave, basically! I think it's a wise investment and a very excellent product.

I purchased and installed this microwave for a family member. We looked all over for a high quality built-in (above the oven, aka cabinet mount) convection microwave. The GE Profile and Advantium lines were very poorly rated online and did have a very good repair history. It's tough if you want a large microwave (capable of spinning a 9x13 dish) that is convection and has a good repair rating. After seeing that the selection available in the marketplace is poor (We looked at Sears, Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowes, and at a "Factory Direct Appliance" store). All basically sold very few cabinet mount microwave and those that they did have were either a.) small and very cheap or b.) GE Advantium and very expensive ($1200). Since the Advantium has a very low customer rating all over the web, we decided it wasn't worth the money.

After reading online we noticed that approval ratings of Panasonic Microwaves were very high. They use a different style of microwave element that they call an inverter. This means that, when using lower power levels, the microwave doesn't turn on and off the element. For example power level 5 on almost every microwave means the element turns on for 2 seconds, then off for 2, then on again. This means that delicate foods come out screaming hot in places and cold in others. The Panasonic has a proprietary element that actually has adjustable amounts of power it can output. This is something that sounds like marketing but in this case it is truly unique and directly beneficial to the customer.

The "sensor" cook option works really well. We followed the directions to bake a potato. The microwave instructs you what to do on the display. The result was a large perfectly well baked potato in about 90 seconds all managed by the sensor. I was shocked at how well it worked and how fast it was.

Be purchased the mount kit (the unit is for countertop use out of the box). The kit, while expensive, is very high quality and well designed. It was easy to install and looks great. It matches the Samsung fridge perfectly and is neither cheap looking nor "showy". It, like the microwave, is very austere and modern looking without being too "high tech" looking.

I'm VERY pleased about this microwave and think that its a good value for its price. It comes with racks and ceramic turn table. The interior is all stainless steel. Overall I can't find a place that Panasonic cut a corner in the microwave, accessories, or the trim kit. For the price (less than half the price of an Advantium) the build quality is perfect.

I purchased this convection microwave because my Sharp gave out after no less than twenty years of faithful service. Thanksgiving is two days away and my family has always used the convection microwave to heat or re-heat casseroles, appetizers, etc. I was thrilled by Amazon's fast shipping! It came right on time, but sadly the product just isn't what I need it to be.

The first thing I did (after set-up, of course) was test the convection temperature using a regular oven thermometer. I set it to 400 degrees, but it beeped to tell me it was preheated at 350 degrees. The family joined me in consulting the microwave's directions again, and finding no error there we considered a problem with the thermometer. After several shuffles between our oven and the new microwave we decided the thermometer was fine (even after it's tragic fall from the counter days earlier), but bought a new one just to be sure. Again, with a brand new oven thermometer, we had the same result. The bottom line is the oven heats 25-50 degrees lower than it says it can.

While this may not be a problem for many, it certainly is for me. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I am trying to decide if I should call out for repair service, or if I should send it back and find another product. I'll update if a call to the repair service fixes the problem.

**********UPDATE**********

First, I'd just like to say that Amazon is great! They took the defective product back with no problem, and shipped another one immediately! Thanks, Amazon!

I got it on Friday, and it has been doing great! The first must have been defective, so make sure you give yours a test run with a thermometer!

Had it for 3 weeks now and it is great! Much quieter than the Viking we had before, and microwaves and defrosts a lot more evenly. The convection oven heats up quickly and does a great job. Easy to use, too, and looks great. Couldn't be any happier.

Weber 386002 Q 100 Portable 189-Square-Inch 8500-BTU Liquid-Propane Gas Grill

Weber 386002 Q 100 Portable 189-Square-Inch 8500-BTU Liquid-Propane Gas GrillI've been using a Q100 / Baby Q for over 2 years now, and am still impressed by the quality of the product and what I'm able to do with it given it's small size. Here's the set up:

Q100 Grill

Weber Cart

Bulk tank adapter

5-lb. propane tank

The grill surface is large enough for a family of four. Six 1/3 lb. burgers fit well enough; more and they are hard to turn. I've also been able to do two average sized tri-tips at once. The lid isn't tall enough to allow a whole chicken. I was a bit wary of the 8K BTU rating at first, but the grill heats up just fineit will do a wonderful sear on pretty much anything after 7-10 minutes of preheat. The heat is also very even, with the virtually whole grill surface usable. The best thing about the small burner is fuel efficiency; 5 lbs. of propane lasts all season (in SoCal!) at 1-2 uses per week. Please note that this is a single burner grill with a ring-shaped burner. Indirect cooking isn't really possible although on low heat, one can get close enough to do justice to a tri-tip.

I've only got a couple of small complaints... First, the support ring for the portable tank (at least with the Baby Q) only accepted 14 oz. propane bottlesthe kind used with plumber's torches. They are more expensive than the 16 oz. bottles used for camping. I just made my own 16 oz. bottle ring out of a heavy coat hanger. Of course with the bulk tank, this is a non-issue. The 5 lb. tank (from Home Depot) is pretty small. Second, the grill is somewhat sensitive to wind. A good breeze blowing through the sides causes a definite loss of temperature above the grill surface, under the lid. Cooking is still possible but times go up about 30-40%. Last, the holes in the burner can get clogged up, especially when there's a lot of liquid pouring off the grill surface. I've had to 'unclog' parts of the burner with a push-pin a couple of times now.

Anyway, I love the product as it's about 75% of a full-size grill at 1/3 the size and 1/4 the price, within its limits (grill area). I think the only thing I'd do differently is get the version with the side tables (Q120).

For those of you wondering if this grill gets hot enough to cook steaks... well it definite does. I had looked into the more expensive unit like the Solaire Anywhere grill because of its infrared feature, but after reading about how it tends to burn and undercook everything, I opted for this Q-100. It surprisingly gets hot enough to seared 1.25" rib-eye steaks due to the heat conductive iron-cast grate. By the way, the bigger 16oz propane bottle now fits the grill without modification it even said so in the owner's manual. Also, save yourself money by getting the Charbroil 4-foot adapter hose (model #4623) at Home Depot instead of the one from Weber. From a guy who's accustomed to grilling steaks on a Viking Ultra-Premium T-Series grill, I can say that this is a nice portable unit that doesn't sacrifice much on performance. See some sample images I uploaded.

Buy Weber 386002 Q 100 Portable 189-Square-Inch 8500-BTU Liquid-Propane Gas Grill Now

Last year when I bought this grill, over 100 people had written 4 plus star reviews. So I took their advice and bought this grill, you can see those reviews if you look for Baby Q.

A year later I still love cooking on the Q. I cook for three plus leftovers. The heavy grate is fantastic, all the other grills had thin, flimsy grates. I love grilling with the Q, I can cook dinner in 15-20 minutes.

I hooked mine up to a 5 lb propane tank. The five lb tank is the smallest tank you can buy, I can cook for a month on it.

This grill starts out hot for 6 months, then to get it to grill hot with a propane tank... turn tank on slowly, over ten seconds, and then light grill at the end of two minutes.

Lots of people use tanks with this grill.Weber does not like it, but the support women will talk you through set up if you ask nice. The weber hot line is veryhelpful with cooking suggestions, I had a temp problem they helped me resolve, but buy the book.

Get a stop watch,a basting brush, tongs, grill brush and read the Webber grilling book. This makes a huge difference in the quality of your cooking, I mean it, follow a few directions to get sucess everytime. The weber book is worth is for the grilling time charts.

Leaving charcoal behind took me way too long... this is superior.

Support from Weber is wonderful....

So buy this grill and have fun cooking this summer.

Another year later I am still in love with my grill. The heavy cast iron grate is what makes ths grill superior to other, cheaper grills. My friends bought the cheaper ones, the food sticks, and burns on.

You must clean the grate when the grill is hot, after cooking, it takes about one minutes of scarping with the grill brush. My friends with the cheap grills never want to grill, their grills are dirty and a pain to clean. My grill is always ready to go.

I don't write many reviews, but was impressed with the Weber Baby Q.

It no longer has the retaining wire for the small gas cylinder, so accepts the larger 16oz. The cylinder doesn't flop around and seems stable without extra support. Of course, many will use with a larger tank but for those that don't, buy whichever size you want.

Some people have written they've had problems with the starter. I've only used it 4 times and 2 of those times the wind was really whipping through the porch. No trouble starting it, only took 1 click each time.

I line the inside with foil and will only change it when it gets coated. That saves some cleanup. Spraying or brushing the grill or your meat (I use olive oil) also helps and keeps things from sticking so much. GREAT grill marks on the steaks!

I thought we would miss the charcoal grill with the wood chip smoke, but I read another reviewer's hint on how to get the wood smoke. Make a tiny foil pan to fit that flat area over the spark starter. I made my little pan about 1" by 2" and maybe half inch high. Then soak your chips for the required 20-30 min (I used Mesquite chips). It worked great and we had our Mesquite smoke flavoring... and it doesn't take hardly any chips:-)

Last but not least, the steaks and burgers have tasted great!! And this is soooooo much easier than the charcoal grill, specially for doing something quick after work when you're tired.

First I would like to get to the 16.4 ounce propane issue. The Weber site and the manual clearly state that 16.4 ounce cansisters are fine. This seems to be contrary to people posting on the web reviews from years past. My guess is that if it was ever an issue it has now been addressed, which is good news since 16.4 ounce canisters are much easier to find. Mine arrived last week and it is no problem at all using 16.4 ounces. No modifications necessary it fits right in, right off the bat.

As for the performance of this grill. Outstanding. The big difference I can see from other grills I have had in the past is a very heavy cast iron cooking grate, and the good construction of the lid. The grate conducts heat well and evenly. You end up getting a good sear, fairly fast cooking, and an even cooking surface. I have had excellent results. Assembly was easy, it took a couple minutes to put the handle on, attach the cover to the unit, and put the heat knob on.

The grate does, however, lead to the unit being pretty heavy. It may or may not be an issue for you as a potential buyer, but I did want to point that out. Also, of course, there is not a huge cooking surface. However rectangular cooking surfaces you get more out of than a circular surface. For a family of 2 to 4 it should be fine. And it cooks fast enough that you can cook in waves and the first wave should still be hot.

Lastly Weber gives you lots of verstility with this model. You can add the side trays later if you want. You can add a rolling cart. You can add a converter to use 20 lb propane tanks. Is it worth more than other grills? It does have a 5 year warranty which was impressive and it does produce excellent results. For me, after having it, the answer is a clear yes, it was worth the money. Recommended.

Update 6/21/10. Having now used this for around 2 months I recommend it even more. I really like the taste of charcoal however this the results from the Q are extremely close taste-wise, sometimes better. Right now my family is just me and my wife. If I am not having people over, charcoal is a lot of work if I am just grilling for me and my wife. I get consistently great results from the Q 100 with much less overall effort and time. It is super easy to light and I am cooking in a few minutes.

I am also saving money compared to charcoal. One 16.4 ounce canister has given me around 5 to 6 full cookings each time I have used. 2 of those per canister included bone in chicken which took quite awhile. I can get them for around $2.20 or so a canister. And so far with the grate, I personally do find it hard to clean. However, even with that this has been one great purchase.

Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press

Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich PressI feel like I am back on the streets of Paris every time I plug in my beautiful Cuisinart Panini and Sandwich Press. This press makes the best grilled cheese sandwich you ever ate, I guarantee it. I love how you can stick a whole hoagie roll or chunk of french bread loaf with sandwich makings inside into it and squish it into a hot & yummy hunk of cheese-oozong goodness. Or, you can use regular bread and make toasty club sandwiches or grilled cheese.

This guy hangs out in the cupboard and is easy to pull out, just plug in and wait for the green light to come on. You can have a quick french dip dinner ready in 5 minutes that everyone will lovealso perfect for grilled cheese and tomato soup nightor just want to make some garlic bread to go with your spaghetti without heating up the whole oven? I LOVE my panini press.

It is really easy to cleanalthough I haven't tried grilling meats or anything beyond sandwiches and bread. Gooey cheese comes off easily and the whole thing wipes down quickly with a damp washcloth.

Elvis would have died over the peanut butter and banana sandwiches we make in this baby! The frying pan's got nothin' on our Panini Press.

Normally I'm not one to go crazy over kitchen appliances but I am compelled to sing the praises of this little wonder. This is sad, but my wife and I eat grilled cheese sandwiches a couple of nights a week because we love them so much. It's sort of our dirty little secret. This little miracle has opened up a whole new universe of possibilities. Our old-style Salton grilled-cheese maker would invariable push the top slice of bread out from the rest of the sandwich because of the operation of the hinge, and forget about putting anything in there other than bread and a couple of slices of cheese because it couldn't handle the thickness. With the GR-1 though, you can put a Dagwood-sized sandwich (the floating hinge allows HUGE sandwiches) in and in just a few minutes, the weight of the top plate has compressed the whole thing into a critical mass of concentrated goodness. Anything I can put between two piecs of bread is becoming a panini these days. This will probably take five years off of my life because I have doubled my weekly consumption of molten cheese, but it's worth it.

Buy Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press Now

After reading the reviews of similar products and this one and knowing that I'm always disappointed when I go for the cheap stuff, I bought this one. I am SO glad I did. My son has been a big fan of grilled cheese sandwiches for 5 years now and it's not slowing down. I hate getting out the frying pan (and the butter) and making them the old-fashioned way. With the Cuisinart, I don't have to use butter. The taste is still great! My son gives it a thumbs up. Plus in less time than it takes me to make one the old-fashioned way I can make two. And my son can use it too. It's so easy, just put the cheese in the bread, wait for the green light, put the sandwich on the griddler and watch it do all the work. I've experimented with other kinds of sandwiches and they all turn out perfectly. I even use it to do quesadillas and heat up fish sticks. It works and makes them crunchy. Plus it doesn't heat up the whole house like the oven does.

Read Best Reviews of Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press Here

This panini press has two distinct advantages over larger and more expensive models--namely, it is smaller and less expensive! As panini are usually made one at a time anyway, getting a multi-sandwich sized machine is just a waste of counter and storage space. This press has room for two sandwiches if you want to cook more than one at a time, but it is compact and easy to put away. It heats up quickly, and works like a waffle iron--one light says ready to go, the other says wait a minute. Pretty simple.

The floating handle provides even pressure on sandwiches, which come out warm and deliciously crunchy. One warning for households with small kids--the whole unit (except for the handle) gets pretty hot.

This is a satisfactory low cost panini maker that is perfect for singles, couples, or even small families.

Want Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press Discount?

I looked at several panini presses before deciding on the Cuisinart. We have been very happy with the performance of this panini press. It heats quickly and the floating hinge allows the cooking of thicker sandwiches. The press is simple to clean, even if cheese has baked onto the grill surface. The only thing that might make this press better is a larger grilling surface. But, for the money, this press certainly does the job.

FlavorStone 11" Blue Sapphire Gourmet Cookware Set

FlavorStone 11' Blue Sapphire Gourmet Cookware SetI purchased this cookware in Australia a few months ago. Verdict! Love it!

I followed the instructions to season the set before using as this I believe is important. I love the idea of cooking without any butter or oil, pancakes and omelettes are a breeze. I'm considering getting the larger casserole dish now.

The washing up is fantabulous! Just a wipe or a bit of water and that's it. Love it, love it love it! Inexpensive too!

Well worth the money!

I bought this item for my mom. She gave me the money to buy it because in my country the version with only 3 items cost almost twice the price So I bougth it and sent to her. she wanted this cookware set because the book of receipts and the ceramic cover. The shipping was very fast. the item arrived on time. The parts arrived in mint condition. actually I cannot say nothing about how the pan and casseroles work but I will ask to my mom about and I will make an upgrade to this comment.

  • General Electric EER3001L01SS, General Electric EER3001L21SS, General Electric JB968BK1BB

We liked this pan so much that this we purchased a second one a few months later. One reviewer mentioned a "hole" in the bottom pan. It's actually a wide, shallow indentation that serves to collect drippings mostly in the center so they don't get into the corners, which are also slightly rounded. I like that feature, and you wouldn't normally use such a shallow pan separately for baking anyway. I use this set in the broiler at least once a week, usually with just seasoned meats. I've used marinades with it a few times. Mine did not come with any papers or care instructions, so I treat it like any other pan, cleaning manually in the sink. It's easy to clean right after use with a little dish soap and gentle scrubber sponge, sometimes a brief soak to soften the gunk, and not too bad even after letting it sit dirty a couple days before cleaning once. The only time I had much cleanup trouble was when I globed on barbecue sauce; I had to use a plastic scraper to knock off some of the the cooked sauce clumps, but there was not any damage.

When I ordered this, I was not sure this would be just what I was looking for. However, it is just exactly what I am looking for. Looks almost identical to the ones that used to come with ovens, with the exception of the small holes on the end. I used it to grill a steak, and the clean up was great. It came right off. I did not have to scrub. I used butter on the steak and that may have made it a bit easier to clean, I don't know, but I was impressed with the ease with which it came clean. Would recommend it to anyone.

Calphalon Easy System Nonstick 11" Square Griddle

Calphalon Easy System Nonstick 11' Square GriddleI love this pan. The sides is great for catching grease, easy to clean and it cooks great. Onr of the best pans I have ever had.

This is the best griddle I've ever owned. I absolutely love it. I now make perfect pancakes because of this griddle. It's true, your cooking skills are only as good as the quality of your pots and pans. I had a square farberware griddle for years and I stupidly put it in the dishwasher which ruined the nonstick quality of the pan. Lesson learned. This one will never see the inside of a dishwasher and I expect it to be my go-to pan for years to come. I am happy with the quality, the size and the fact that it's very light weight and super easy to clean. I will be replacing my current cookware with Calphalon, it's that good.

Read Best Reviews of Calphalon Easy System Nonstick 11" Square Griddle Here

I had a square pan in the past and have been trying to replace it for a long time after my old pan starting sticking. I find a square pan offers the most room and convenience more so then a round pan. For me, the best uses for square pans are breakfast foods such as bacon, pancakes and hash browns along with a bacon press. This pan is the perfect breakfast pan which I had been searching for. The pan has some weight and is not flimsy. Along with my glass press that I already own I continue to cook flat bacon.

Now please do not misunderstand that I have some kind of obsession for bacon. Just square pans. They are usually priced out of my budget or have the grill marks that are great for burgers and steaks but not all purpose. This is an all purpose non stick pan good for any type of food.

I follow the directions for heating and so far the pan heats evenly and cooks with no burnt marks in the middle. It is oven safe up to 450 but not for the broiler. Cleanup is very easy with just a little soap and water also wipes clean if you want to add a second food product. As with most nonstick cookware I never use metal utensils.

I was so impressed with the first one I ordered from Buy Happier, LLC, within days I came back and got a second one before they sold out. If the idea of a square pan without a lid is holding you back from this pan, just try it, I think you will be as pleased with the pan and price as I am.

Campeon Comal, Large Oval, 43 by 22 CM

Campeon Comal, Large Oval, 43 by 22 CMI have been trying to figure out how to reheat corn tortillas and finally I tried this. Don't use any oil or butter etc. Just the hot comal. I then toss in some mexican cheese and the quesodillas are outstanding. I am not crazy about the vestigal handles they get hot very quickly, it should have been designed much better. Plan on using oven mitts if you need to move it. Also the edges were sharp so I had to file it down in the garage. That's worth losing a star over so it's only 4 stars. Still it's big enough for 2 maybe 3 small corn tortillas and it does a great job. For the price what do you expect?

Black & Decker Belgium Waffle Maker

Black & Decker Belgium Waffle MakerUnlike the other reviewer the temperature control on mine works fine. It is a little confusing. Green light means it is still heating and the red light means the power is on. So you have to wait until the red light is lit and the green light is out before using. It goes against the "traffic light" paradigm.

The things I don't like are that you can't remove the grids for cleaning and it does take a while to preheat. The nonstick works well and looks to be durable. I will post my final verdict in a couple of years.

Ther is no temperature control. The setting is so low that after 15 minutes the waffles are not crispy. Don't buy this one.

Made in China for Applica Consumer Products and sold under the Black & Decker name, the biggest things that this griddle has going for it are low cost (I bought mine for less than $20) and simplicity. It's slow to preheat, has no temperature adjustment and takes about six minutes to cook a reasonably crisp waffle. The instructions say to wait for the green light before cooking, but if yours works like mine, you'll be waiting a long time for that.

The cooking surfaces are not removable for cleaning and the griddle is not water-proof, so wiping the surfaces with a damp cloth or sponge is about all that can be done to keep this waffle maker clean without voiding the appliance's warranty. The surfaces are easy to wipe clean, however.

On the plus side, a convenient carrying handle that locks the griddle closed and stays cool is integrated into the griddle's design, as is a stand-up base where the electric cord can be coiled and stored. After following the instructions for "conditioning" the cooking surfaces with cooking oil before using, I found that waffles are easy to remove from the non-stick surfaces without the need for additional conditioning. The instructions, which I followed, advise NOT to use non-stick cooking sprays.

I bought this waffle maker for occasional use in a motor home because it was cheap and doesn't take up a lot of space. For that application it is okay, but it isn't an appliance for heavy users or waffle gourmets.

Waffles are not crisp as I expected belgian waffles to be. Instructions say not to "lock/hinge" the lid closed while cooking, but if you don't -the waffles won't cook completely on both sides. The hinge lock prevents the lid from being in the down position without locking.

Waffles came out heavy and dense, whether I used mixes or made them from scratch. I couldn't decide whether it was the waffle maker, or the recipes. Put the waffle maker away for a month or so, and yesterday took it out to experiment with a new recipe (using yeast this time). The recipe said to use non-stick spray, so I did, totally forgetting that the instructions that came with the waffle maker cautioned not to use nonstick cooking spray. The maker now is destroyed waffles stick, in fact so much, that it was hard to open it after the last batch. Tried reseasoning it with oil, but did not help. Am reading reviews of other waffle irons now need a new one, and I would like a really good one this time.

The apron and print is high quality. Hasn't faded or cracked even after a couple warm washes and medium heat drying. The collar is a little large, making the apron hang low across the chest, but it has great coverage. Best pancakes ever have the GL symbol made from green M&Ms!
