This valentines day, I braved the snow to fire up the propane grill (a tradition for us), and... no propane!! I had an EZ Grill sitting in my shop with the camping gear left over from last summer. Not sure if it would work, I set it on a barstool on the front porch (with a cookie sheet on the stool) and lit a corner... it fired right up! Within 20 minutes, I had two expensive ribeyes grilling to perfection. Fast, mess free just fantastic. And it saved my VERY important date night!!!

I got a bunch of these on clearance for a dollar each. They say they don't have chemicals, but the do light quickly with one match even in the wind, so there is obviously something in there that's helping the flame. Given that, they do stay lit in gusts of wind. It is also impossible to distribute the charcoal evenly until it's burnt out of the package and then the whole thing is hot, so I usually end up with about 2/3 useable grill space. It does grill well in the space you can use. I've done chicken, artichokes, salmon in foil and corn on it and all have turned out well.

I love to go camping with friends and our horses, but lugging all the BBQ stuff along is a major pain. I saw these and thought to get a couple as a back up to a small grill I had for tailgating since I did not know if a few others of my group would show up.

CONS

it is a little flimsy but works

the charcol should be spread out more even

great for some quick cooking or warming items in like sized foil or foil roasting pans

The bottom line is this should not be your main grilling item but it does work if you have items to help. I had a fire place grill to sit them on so I did not have to worry about the stand that came with them. I shook it up a little while flat to spread the charcoal. They lit fast and worked to heat up chilli and grill extra links and dogs while my main grill was in use. SUGGESTION: place it in another foil type roasting pan if you are cooking links. The ones I had were not perfectly flat so I had a couple of links kinda roll off on me. I would use again as a side cooker for other items and then there is no mess to clean after. I liked that part. It is good enough for some tailgating,a picnic, or to set on top of your home grill if you want something quick and dont feel like a big clean up after.

The portable grill is JUST AWESOME. We had a picnic the day we received the grill. It CANNOT be any easier. Open, put on the stand and light with fire.

The fire stayed hot for over 2 hours, while we grilled burgers, sausage, hot dogs and fresh corn. In fact, we had to put water on the fire to extinguish. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for no-fuss small cookouts.

I bought these lovely matches to include with a holiday candle as a gift for a friend. They are nice matches, and they are in a pretty, decorative box as described. However: When they arrived, a large inventory sticker covered one side of the box and the box was also taped closed on both ends overall not the look I was going for in a gift. I tried to remove the sticker and the tape, but it was impossible without ruining the box. I had to keep it for myself and find another set of matches for my gift. So, yes, they are nice enough matches. I just wish the pretty packaging hadn't been ruined before it even got to me.

Whole House Fan Shutter - 30" - Interior Use - White

We bought this product to replace a 30 year old fan cover. It fits perfectly, although we had to build out the opening; the old fan cover was a surface mount style.

The only concern is that the pins, attaching the shutters to the pivot points, are plastic. It works perfectly, but we hope that the plastic endures.

This junk shutter came with my Home Depot whole house fan. It was a short-lived product. The louvers flutter constantly while the fan is on, even though the louvers are connected with arms to make them open and close together. The louvers rattle and make considerable noise at times and eventually the cheap plastic pins the louvers rotate on start breaking. You have to be careful that the louvers don't get sucked up into the fan as the pins break off.

I actually replaced all the plastic pins with brass pins, which I thought would make the thing work forever. It did last a couple more seasons, but the louvers continue to rattle and vibrate, and eventually even the brass pins gave up.

After messing with it for four or five seasons, I am junking the thing and will replace it with a system of my own design unless I can find something better on the market, which I have not so far.

Weber Q 200 & 220 Series Vinyl Grill Cover

The quality of the materials and construction of this cover is pretty good, and it will do an okay job of protecting the grill. However, with a few modifications, this cover could have been significantly better.

The cover is "symmetric" from side to side, however the grill has the regulator valve and gas bottle holder on one side, and the cover should have been been tailored to fit around those projections. Weber should have made the whole thing about 3 inches longer from top to bottom so that it could envelop the whole grill better and eliminate the chance of the thing flying off in a high wind. It has a draw string at the bottom, but because the cover doesn't quite come down far enough on the side with the regulator valve, it isn't quite as secure as it could be. All that being said, it is still worth ten bucks.

With just a little bit of re-engineering and a few cents more of material, this cover could be improved substantially.

There just is not enough size to this product. A grill cover should not be such a workout to put on.

If you have the weber Q and you leave it outside ... get this cover. I'm sure the grill can stand up to the harshest conditions ... its a Weber after all, but I would rather get a new grill cover in a couple years than a new grill. Its a good investment.

These are pretty pans, heavy-sided and they look well-made. The pieces are the basics; two pots with lids, one straight-sided 2 qt and one slant-sided 1.5 qt, and three skillets, 10", 8" and 7" which are what you probably are going to use the most. And also some non-stick friendly tools.

However, after a few months of using the largest skillet, which is my go-to pan for most cooking, it has lost the ability to remain non-stick. If you don't use a lot of oil or butter, the bottom will stick. Then you are faced with the dilemma on how to clean out the stuck food--and if you don't do it gently, the pan will continue to deteriorate.

There is a lot to like about these pans, but I am not completely confident of the durability of this particular green coating (non-pfe, pfoa.) Perhaps this version has a poorer quality coating than some others.

I purchased a similar Green-Life set at Walmart several months ago (for about $50, with slightly different pan sizes). Because I had read other reviews of other similar pans, I was very careful to NEVER use a green scrubby pad on them... and they have lasted beautifully and are amazingly non-stick.

I even accidentally burned up a pan of beans -I mean the beans turned to CRUSTY black carbon and the smoke poured until the smoke detector screamed -reminding me that I was cooking. I was really angry at myself, and put the smoking pan outside to calm the screeching smoke alarm. I didn't bother to bring the pan in for several days, assuming that I had killed it.

But, when I finally looked at it, I was amazed to find that the hard lump of 'blackened beans' pulled out in one piece, and the pan is fine! I especially love the (smallish) stock pot -came on here today to see if I could find a Green-Life stock pot a little larger, and a 3 quart saucepan. (The set I have comes with a very small saucepan and the (maybe 6 qt ?) stock pot... a little too small and a little too large for most of the cooking I do (just for 2 people).

This set offered here looks like it contains 2 larger saucepans -and I am excited to get more of the frying pans, which I use daily.

Statistics says that nonstick pans have a five year shelf life. This must be true as I have had a set that I purchased in 2007. Sadly, they are now breaking down. Everything sticks, they are hard to clean, and always look dirty. I am so sad by this as I loved them and they really were a good buy. My Charbroil cooker was used when it was given to me several years ago. The old burners were holy, the carrying tube across the back had been removed, the spiders had made a home in the side burner tube and the contacts on the automatic starter needed cleaning. This spring, I cleaned it up as usual but then realized that I could change the burners if only I could loosen the 4 screws that held the tub to the frame and move it just enough to lift the old burners out. I got three out of four screws out and tipped up the tub. Out slid the old burners, in slid the new. So easy. The new burners along with the new carrying tube and cover plates have restored my Charbroil to new cooking condition. With a push of the starter button now, the first burner lights up like my kitchen stove and the other burners follow suit after only a few seconds of the first burner warming up and the gas reaching the carrying tube. If I can do it, anyone can. Perfect.

At first thought, a campfire tripod seems like something of an extravagant expense to have along on a hike, or camping trip. Nobody ever seemed to have bothered with one in the old westerns when they were chowing down on beans and bacon. So its kinda easy to imagine that like the cowboys and cattlemen of old, we could just save ourselves the trouble of toting it along and improvise when the time comes. Anyone who is reading this that has ever attempted to actually put that improvising into effect on the trail, knows full well what I am talking about when I say that for just that one time and place, a tripod system that actually works would be worth a portion of your prospected gold. Many a meat and potatoes dinner over a cracklin' fire has been ruined as it plunged into the fire pit after a make shift system that we created, and predicted "would work just dandy", collapses and takes both the fire, and your dinner with it. Quite simply put, there is just nothing like a store bought tripod system like the Bayou Classic in going to great lengths in making your dinner a success, as opposed to a cussed filled disaster. At just $20 at the time of this writing, I feel the 7485 model is the true best buy among the variety and price available here on Amazon. Pay a little more and you will get something a little higher, and thus wider that will accommodate larger diameter pots. But from my own examination of this line locally, I did not see any pronounced difference in ruggedness, or strength as the price increased. What you get for spending more in this line is more room for your dinner. Not any real discernible increase in heaviness, or construction. As another reviewer here noted, if your campfire iron ware is limited to about 14" or smaller, you will do just fine with this solid model. That measurement in my opinion is both large and generous enough to handle the vast majority of most rustic cooking lines. Only if you plan on moving a bigger herd that will call for a lot more cowfolk' is spending more money for a larger/taller unit all that necessary. This model with its adjustable chain should be all the average crew should ever need when it comes time to sit around the camp fire and enjoy the sweet fruit and pickin's of your days hike, or hard labor.... Much Recommended

This tripod was cheaper then the others that I priced. So I was a little hesitant about the quality. But when I got it, I'm very pleased with it. I'm glad that I didn't buy the more expensive tripods. This one is just as good.

This is a really nice product and half the price of the other brands. It's a great buy if you use a Dutch oven less than 14" wide. I use a 12" 6Qt Dutch oven and it fits, but leaves little room to maneuver the lid on/off. It's fine if set at a lower level, but the fire is really on the Dutch oven like that. You would need to accept that or dig a hole for your fire to have a greater distance from flame to oven. In retrospect I would have bought the 60" model other brands have, but it really works fine if you just dig that hole.

I gave this 4 stars only because I think it should be taller. That extra height would allow the legs to be spread wider and accomodate a larger oven or just allow for a larger one to be lifted higher from the flames.

It's still worth the price anyway...

I got the small one because it's just the right size for my gas grill. It is excellent on all points. Materials, design, construction, and finish are all excellent. Better yet, it also fits my Coleman 2 burner camp stove. Now I can cook for an army!

I got the Large Griddle Q for Christmas this year. I had wanted one for quite a while, but never pulled the trigger. I always wondered about the quality of build and how it would hold up. I must say that I am very pleased. These things are pretty heavy duty. I'd estimate that the large one weighs between 20 and 30 lbs and it is solid. I cooked breakfast with it the morning after Christmas. I cook breakfast for the family every weekend and this baby cut my time by 75%. If you're going to cook with this thing, make sure you have everything ready to go. I made 6 pancakes and 4 eggs (over easy) at one time! My wife loves Japanese Hibachi and plans to play teppanyaki chef for dinner tonight. I think we'll cook on the Griddle Q often. Cleanup is easy as long as you follow the recommended procedures. I'm anxious to continue exploring all of things I can make on my new Griddle Q. I'll update in couple of months after I've played with it more and I'll post about how it is holding up. So far, I'd say if you're thinking about getting a Griddle Q, stop thinking and just get it!

Chipwood Picnic Rectangle Basket

I have a terminal illness and I use this "tote" items from the kitchen to the livingroom (where I spend a great deal of time). It itsn't super sturdy so don't use it for heavy items or bang it around but to tote a few small items it has been great. I love it and it was just what i was looking for.

I was looking for a small picnic style basket to put a china tea set in for my granddaughter, and after looking at a number of them, I chose this one. It turned out to be the perfect size, and the basketry was well done. However, the hardware was very cheap, and one of the hinges didn't even have a pin in it. Not to be foiled (her birthday was within a couple of days and I didn't have time to look for anything else) I scrounged around and found a jewelry head pin to replace the hinge pin. We then gorilla glued all the screws holding the hardware, and wound up with a pretty sturdy little basket. In an ideal world, it would have been sent in perfect condition, but it was salvagable, and my granddaughter was delighted.

This basket was cheap and it is cheaply made. It will be fine for my Halloween costume. It would also work well for decorating a shelf or as a one time use gift basket or centerpiece. It is not fit for actual continued use. The frame is bent so I have to squish it into position and hold it there to allow the top to open. The reed is dry and delicate and will crack and break if flexed by continued use. It will probably be in tatters by the end of Halloween night, but that's okay. It will have served it's purpose.

LONG REVIEW

What comes in the box:

*Lodge Logic Preseasoned Pizza Pan 16 x 15 x 2.5 (** Cooking surface is 14 inches **), 11 pounds. The length of the pan from handle to handle is exactly 15 and 1/4 inches (38.74 cm).

*Recipe Card with recipes for: pizza dough, pizza sauce, muffuletta pizza, mushroom & sweet pepper pizza, herb roasted potatoes, & instructions on how to care for your cast iron.

Preseasoned:

Preseasoned is a great thing but realize what it means. It means that it is on its way to being fully seasoned; like 2/3 of the way done. Before you can get that true black cast iron slickness, it still needs one or two more rounds in the oven with Crisco or just cook a pound a bacon on it like I did.

Multiple uses:

*Pizza Pan

*Roasting vegetables

*Overall Baking sheet (bake cookies, breads, biscuits, fries, pastries, etc). Please note that flavors can transfer onto the pan so you may have to clean it between different uses.

*Griddle on stove for eggs, bacon, pancakes, burgers, hot dogs and similar items

*Stir Fry (Use it on one burner; the middle gets the hottest and it gets cooler towards the edges, just like a wok!)

*Broiler Plate for the oven

*Shallow roaster

*Tortilla warmer

*Crepe/dosa maker

As a side note I have used this in the oven at 450 degrees without a problem. Just remember that the pan will be extremely hot and any sudden changes in temperature may cause the pan to warp or crack so please be careful. For example, if I took the pan out of a blazing hot oven and ran cold water on it right away, it may bend or break. It always best to let the pan get to a manageable temperature before starting the cleanup.

Can be used almost anywhere:

This pan can be used on almost any surface; on the stove (I have used it on both gas and electric ranges), in the oven and under the broiler, on the grill (both gas and charcoal), even with a campfire/hot coals if you know what you are doing.

Pizza:

It makes the best pizza I have ever had. The pan heats evenly all the way to the center creating a perfect, uniform crust. I sometimes make my own dough but in a pinch I go down to my favorite local pizzeria and buy some dough from them. The pan can make crispy or soft pizza.

Everyone has their own method to making pizza and this is mine:

For crispy pizza:

Place the dough on room temperature Lodge Pro Logic Pizza Pan and put it in a 400 degree oven for 5-8 min. Once the dough starts to get firm, take it out the oven, spread out a half a cup of sauce, and evenly cover with cheese. At this point you can add whatever toppings you like (make sure meat toppings are already cooked). Bake for about 10 to 15 minutes until desired crispness. 2 minutes before I pull it from the oven, I add a little more cheese so it is just melted and gives you that string cheese pull like in the commercials. (see customer image above)

For softer pizza, follow the same directions as above without first baking the dough.

I serve & cut the pizza in the pan. Although the pizza does still cook while in the pan, I noticed it basically keeps it warm until the last slice. I use a pizza cutter from the dollar store which will cut the pizza but will not scratch or scrap the seasoning off. If you cut your pizza in the pan, please be careful not to scratch seasoning. If you do, just reseason (see below).

Because it is cast iron, it won't stain like a pizza stone or get those burnt spots like aluminum does. Also, cooking in cast iron provides iron in your diet because the food absorbs some of the iron.

Size:

It makes a pizza big enough for 2 people with a good appetite (assuming they have a side dish) or 3 people with less of an appetite. Sometimes the pizza is so good I can eat the whole thing myself! Normally, I eat about 2/3 of the pie along with a side salad and I am satisfied--I do have a good appetite. If I had a large family, I would definitely consider buying two. Of course for you folks with the large family, try one pan first and then make the decision yourself. (The photos included above do have a US quarter in the picture so you can gauge the size of the pie).

Clean up & Seasoning:

After cooking, take a dry paper towel while the pan is still warm and wipe it down (if it is really dirty use a little water but I never use soap). If you use water, you can reheat the pan to get it dry. After it is clean and dry, spray it with Pam and then wipe away any excess oil. Place pan back in the warm oven or on top of the burner just used. That's it! The residual heat will reseason the pan while the oven/stove is cooling down. Food never sticks using this method. If your seasoning ever comes off, just apply some oil and bake in the oven; repeat as necessary. Be careful not to use too much oil while seasoning or you will get a sticky or gummy residue on it--this should be avoided.

Best pizza pan by far. And I should know, I've had several, including one of those round stones. Great baking, nonstick and like all cast iron, should last forever. One nice thing is the lip of the pan, no more pizza sauce or cheese spills. If you need one (or two) this is it, you'll never need another one.

This pan cooks wonderful pizzas! The iron holds the heat, and uniformly cooks the crust. It is just awesome! Since it is preseasoned, all you need to do is follow the directions, and you will have NONSTICK pizza every time! Remember, do not use soap with cast iron! Hot water is all that is necessary.(and a little vegetable oil rubbed in before cooking)... You will not be disappointed with this pizza pan, and it will last for generations~~literally!

Bought one of these a year ago, and used it several times. Really liked it non-stick, even cooking, makes GREAT pizza. This weekend I needed to make two pizzas, so I used this and a regular aluminum pizza pan. As usual, pizza was perfect on the Lodge. By comparison, the pizza stuck to the aluminum, was burned in sections and the crust was overly crisp. The aluminmum pizza pan got tossed and I bought a second Lodge Pro Logic pizza pan.

I am totally sold on the Lodge Logic and Pro-Logic lines. They are the workhorses of the kitchen. I have just about every pan they make in these lines, and while I have a superb set of copper cookware and stainless when it's heavy duty cooking, these are what I reach for.

Pros: easy care, easy clean up. Pour a little hot water in the pan when done and use a scrubber rinse in hot water, dry and wipe down with a very thin coating of vegetable or canola oil. Can take high temperatures without warping. Already seasoned (for those of us who just can't seem to get the seasoning of cast iron down pat!) Hefty, sturdy, well made. Get smooth and black after steady usage and proper maintenance.
