Proctor Silex Extra-Large Toaster Oven Broiler
Buy Proctor Silex Extra-Large Toaster Oven Broiler Now
Both heat tubes on this toaster expired today. I've had it less than a year. It heated things reasonably well but toasting was always erratic, sometimes barely done, other times burnt on the bottom. Placement of the rack was problematic. The choice was between too close to the top burner or too close to the bottom burner. Removing the rack to replace it with the broiler pan was difficult. All in all, when I paid only $25 for this I knew I was not getting the Rolls Royce of toasters. I decided I could live with the poor toasting performance. But I would have thought it would last more than 8 or 9 months. Very disappointed in what used to be a good brand.Read Best Reviews of Proctor Silex Extra-Large Toaster Oven Broiler Here
As a previous reviewer said, the oven is really not as "Extra-Large" as advertised, but it is a decent toaster oven. The same reviewer noted that you could not insert the two pans/racks simultaneously, which is also true, and also kind of an inconvenience.
I've used it for a couple of weeks, had no performance problems so far.
The ticking of the timer is a bit loud, but sometimes that can actually be helpful when you are busy elsewhere and forget about having put something in the oven.

Watch out. This is not the extra large toaster oven that is shown in the picture. The model number listed is correct. What you got with this model number is just a standard sized toaster oven. The picture shows that the pan can be sit on top of the rack, but it is not possible with this model. There is only one slot, where you can either slide in the rack, or the pan, or both the rack and the pan with the rack right above the pan. The dimension is also relatively smaller than I expected. It does a horrible job toasting four pieces of Orowheat bread. It can only handle two pieces of bread well, I guess. Such a toaster is only for personal use, by which I mean, if you are single, it should be fine, but if you live with one more person, it is too small.Saturday, April 12, 2014
Nostalgia HDT-600 Hot-Dog/Pop-up Toaster
It's too bad that they don't a larger hole or two on it for bratwurst and other sausages in addition to the hot dog holes. Maybe that will be on the version 2.0 of this machine someday. Computers are constantly upgraded, why not this gadget?

I took a chance buying this product. My husband LOVES hot dogs, so I figured he would get a kick out of this. The toasted hot dogs and buns are DELICIOUS. I highly recommend this product. When we tried it out, I told him I only wanted 1. After tasting it, we both had a second one.Noteyou can only use regular sized hot dogs and buns. You can't use the "bun sized" hot dogs or the longer buns, or any other type of sausages/brats. The hole is only big enough for a "regular" hot dog.

I bought this for my husband as a gift from Santa he loves hot dogs so I thought this would be great! I, myself, like toasted buns so I thought it would be great as well. I also bought him 5 packages of Ball Park Franks...they don't fit after toasting because they plump when they cook. The toasted buns aren't evenly toasted either. We purchased Oscar Meyer hot dogs and that seemed to do the trick! I give it a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. It's fantastic. I like my dogs slightly burnt. They came out perfect. You do have to watch the buns. Wait a few seconds before you put them in so they won't get burned. You can always warm the buns after cooking the hot dogs.Thursday, March 13, 2014

Nostalgia Electrics Pop-Up Hot Dog Toaster
1) Smokes during first few uses-I turned the knob to 5 and let it perform a burn-in cycle with nothing in it. Instructions say to not operate without at least 1 hotdog and bun. But in my opinion if it can't survive 1 cycle it would need to be returned as POS. Burn-in worked fine and it did smoke like a bingo player at first, then it stopped. Subsequent uses were smoke free with no odor/taste effect on the food.
2) Bun burning along edges-Yes it burned the buns along the edge and was heavier from the top of the toaster down. But after a bit of carbon buildup on the inside it no longer burns the bun and I do cook on number 5. The buns need to be regular sized. I also noticed that most buns, I tried 3 brands, are baked/sliced in such a way that one end is more tapered and I place them into the toaster tapered end up.
3) Hotdog expands in holder and is hard to get out-Yes it does on fat hotdogs. Also over cooking causes the hotdogs to split as I discovered when working out the best cook setting. Skinny ones like Oscar Mayer or Nathans or Hebrew National have no problem. I tried 6 different brands all beef brands including Ball Park and Bar S and some generic brand. The BallPark were the worst case of the bubch but I got them out without too much carnage. Overall they all cooked great at setting of 5. I prefer my hotdogs either hot or cold but not in between.
4) Cheaply made with plastic-It was only $20. However the plastic housing makes it cool to the touch. Key points are it works very well and is easy to clean up.
In conclusion, I think my organs are failing from all the hotdogs I've eaten the last couple of weeks. Everyone who sees the toaster has a big inner child smile moment and has to try it. It works as advertised. It's inexpensive and its color matches my coffee maker.Works great. Will cook hot dogs from done, to burnt! Don't believe the negative reviews, this toaster is a must have. It toasts the buns evenly on one side(the side which touches the hot dog)and it does so very quickly and without making a mess!

I'm loving my new gadget! My kitchen is done in a retro diner style and this fits in perfectly. I had read some of the other reviews before I purchased this and I can agree only with the excellant reviews. This is great for days I don't want to fire up our huge outdoor gas grill or when my daughter has a house full of her friends over. They love this as much as I do. Its something they can do themselves and have a ball cooking. Clean-up is a breeze. The crumb catcher/drip tray is a huge help. I have discovered that if I poke the dogs with a fork a couple of time the do not swell if I want to cook them more than once. Thank you AMAZON for another homerun!!!Read Best Reviews of Nostalgia Electrics Pop-Up Hot Dog Toaster Here
Okay, I know it is cheesy but I wanted one of these since I saw one in SkyMall years ago for $100. Obviously, the price is much better here. It is every bit as bright red as the picture suggests. It has 5 settings on the timer. I like my hot dogs a little crispy so I usually cook everything on 4, then take the buns out and put the dogs in for another round of 3-4, usually flipped over and/or rotated 90 degrees. The buns mostly brown against the top, inside edges where they touch the element. It isn't really even so if you were thinking of a butter-toasted bun, think again. But they are nicely warmed up. (The inside of the bun just touches a flat plate. If it was V-shaped, it would work a lot better but if you are using large, fresh buns it might be too tight.)The hot dogs themselves taste great and stay juicy. They do plump up so don't get any that are tight to begin with. The tiny little tongs they give you will just tear the end off if they plump too much. Also, the first time or two that you use it, expect some smoke and smell. Everything cooked and tasted fine, though.
The only real con is that the cord wrap points on the bottom are too shallow to wrap it twice around. It is enough to shorten the exposed cord if you want to keep it out but not enough for the entire cord if you plan on storing yours between uses as I do.
Fun and easy, and way better than the microwave...recommended

We LOVE that this makes AWESOME Grill marks on the hot dogs!!! I read all the reviews before purchasing and I am shocked that no one mentioned this! And this is not simply a hot dog Heater Upper LOL! There is a BIG difference in using this versus a micowave. For one, THE Grill Marks LOL Sorrythat just tickled me silly and I am in love with that feature alone :) The hot dog does not get "rubbery" like they can in the microwave. We cook ours on setting number 5 and it gets a perfect sear on the outside trapping in all the juices. This little hot dog toaster will give you perfectly juicy hot dogs every single time. Also, it toasts the inside of the bun but leaves the outside of the bun perfectly moist and soft AWESOME! We learned the hard way what NOT to dowhatever you dodo NOT NOT NOT put Cheddar Filled Bratwurst in this little son of a gun. My son did that (this was one of his birthday presents) The cheese oozed all out and made an interesting mess at the bottom and was a pain to clean :( so do not do what we did.. Also, bratwurst in general tend be much larger and they will not eject properly. Stick to regular or bun length hot dogs as this machine was designed to cook them perfectly. Just as the other reviewers have stated your toaster will smoke the first 2 or 3 times. I do not recommend eating a hot dog made in the toaster the first 2 times at allas it will be infused with the permeating smell of burning plastic. Yep. That is what it smelled like the first few times. Knowing this in advance(thanks to the Amazon reviewers here) we placed a hot dog and bun (just one) in the toaster and set it to low and ran the toaster 3 times. We then threw that hot dog away. Next, we loaded her up with two and turned the setting to 5 and honestly, it was like eating a hot dog at a baseball game. It was WAY better than if I had micwaved it or baked it in the oven or simmered it in a saucepan on the stovetop. This gift was supposed to be for my sonbut it is so awesomethat even though I normally do not eat hot dogsWell, Ihave found myself indulging in one too many. I am VERY impressed and happy with this purchase. Because this one was
purchasd for my son to have upstairs in his kitchen area of the gameroomI am now purchasing another one for myself and MY kitchen :)

Browne & Co Cuisipro 13-Inch Silicone Fish Tongs 13-Inch, Red
Overall, the tongs are of an average build quality. Fit and finish could be better. The spring mechanism felt a little gritty until I gave it a spray of food-grade silicone. The locking mechanism is a bit too stiff, and no amount of fiddling has remedied that yet.
The widest part of the tongs is approximately 5 inches across. Keep this in mind if you are planning on picking up pieces of delicate fish that measure much more than 5 inches in any dimension. The length is ideal, allowing me to reach across either a hot pan or grill without getting too close to the heat.
So far, I've used the tongs on the following items, with the below results:
Salmon (steak) Flipped intact
Salmon (fillet) Flipped intact
Steelhead Trout (large fillet) Broke on flip
Cod (small fillet) Flipped intact
Cod (large fillet) Broke on flip
Catfish (fillet) Flipped intact
Tilapia (fillet) Flipped intact
Swai (fillet) Flipped intact
Chicken (boneless breast) Flipped intact
I've got a 25% failure rate on fish flips. Not good. On chicken, I've been 100% successful, however, I attribute that more to the fact that chicken is not a delicate protein.
I would shop around a bit more before committing to these tongs.I have been cooking fish for our vacation shore lunches in the Boundary Waters for twenty years. I just received the Cuisipro Fish Tongs for Father's Day, and these things are the best thing ever! They are perfect for flipping fish. They are easy to use and very durable. Clean up is easy, too!

Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set
The company told me that we could send it back (at our expense) and someone at the company would examine the pan and decide if they would repair the pan, give us a replacement or return the pan as is.
We are planning to return the pan, but we aren't too hopeful.
Having recently read quite a few reviews of other companies' non-stick cookware, it seems that this is a common problem. Caveat emptor!

I bought a Swiss Diamond Cookware Set about five years ago and some of the pans that I use daily are really starting to show "wear and tear." I contacted their Customer Service Department who seemed VERY interested in helping me decide whether some of the set needed replacement. I was asked to send pictures online and full documentation on when I bought them etc. etc. I responded immediately with what they asked for!THEN, NO RESPONSE! I even sent an email to the person who originally contacted me...NO REPLY!
This cookware is VERY EXPENSIVE! I do NOT recommend it because NO ONE FROM THE COMPANY answered my questions regarding whether it was SAFE TO USE IN REGARD TO WEAR!

I've been bragging to everyone about how lovely this 8.5 qt. stock pot is because clean up is a cinch and the non-stick quality is superior. Recently, after cleaning the pan I noticed a scratch that revealed the silver-colored metal underneath the non-stick surface as well as several other aggravated areas on the rim. I couldn't imagine how that happened. After examining its glass lid, I noticed the metal band that goes around the circumference of it (and comes in contact with the pot's rim) joins together and creates an unconnected, albeit close, seam. When I touched it, it felt sharp. Ah-hah! This must be what caused the damage. It seemed logical to me. The representative from Swiss Diamond looked at it and claimed it was caused by a metal utensil being banged against the rim. User error. Needless to say I'm disappointed. I don't recall banging a metal utensil against the rim. It seems obvious to me that, as absurd as it may sound in theory, practically speaking, the pan damaged itself. I sure hope the damage doesn't spread. The other thing I've noticed is some of the non-stick surface on the bottom is pilling. I'm bummed out. I feel angry, but I can't fight "city hall". I just hope this isn't the beginning of further degradation of the pan I love so much.Want Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set Discount?
I've been cooking for 50 years and have tried them all. This is the best line of cookware ever. It has all the right features: can be used in the oven, proper balance, excellent conductivity, totally flat bottoms, great non-stick (both inside and outside), the handles stay cool, just the right weight. However, don't believe the claim that you can use metal utensils. They can be scratched if you don't use wooden, silicone, or plastic utensils. Treat them with care and they'll be your favorite cookware.Sunday, February 2, 2014

The good this was a nice looking set, very handsome and sturdy. The bad the handles were VERY short.
This would be a nice set for folks who BBQ on a small charcoal grill. Not at all useful for medium or larger grills of any type. The handles are so short that you would be burned from the heat. Although this was a nice looking set and came in an attractive box, I ended up returning it because it was useless for our larger gas grill.

Weber Style 6445 Professional-Grade Stainless-Steel 3-Piece Barbeque Tool Set
I was impressed when I opened the Amazon box. Quality thick metal, attractive, looked long & large and perfect for hot grills. My husband's very impressed and said grilling with them was 'perfect'. You can't see it in the picture very well but there's a non-slip coating on the bottom of each tool, which is nice (as long as it doesn't fall apart.) We washed the set in the dishwasher already (on top rack) and they turned out brand new looking. The only thing you need to add to this set is a grill brush for cleaning.
I was torn between this set and the All-Clad set. Obviously the All-Clad is over triple the price so I went with this set and was pleased. If for some reason this set dies prematurely, I will be forced to buy the All-Clad as I am sick of rebuying the same thing. But thankfully, for now, I didn't have to & saved money. I love the quality!
This is my first Weber product and I must say I am thrilled. If my grill dies I will most likely buy a Weber.
Try this set out; I bet you'll be pleased.
Update: 6 months later, the set's holding up beautiful and cleans up nicely in dishwasher. A great purchase.
Update: 1 year later, looks just as it did when it was new! Buy this one.
Update: 2 years later: Just like the 1 year review, this is the set to buy, perfect even 2 years later!I have used lots of different types of bbq tools and these by far are the best. The tongs are really where it is at, the other tools don't really matter as much. Some tongs aren't spring loaded unlike these which are and don't open very far, maybe far enough to grab a chicken leg, but that is it. These tongs will open to the width of a pork chop and the thing that I like most is the actual gripping surface, the jaws are nice and smooth so they will not tear skin! If your thinking that this set is too expensive at least buy the tongs individually, well worth it. I used to think that anything that had the Weber logo was just expensive because of the brand, but the more I use their stuff, the more I can justify the price tag.

I take great pride in my Weber Genesis Silver grill. It treats me well and I enjoy the Weber name and quality ... so I decided to splurge on the Weber grill tool set. They are awesome. They are weighty, ergonomic and durable. Worth every penny whether you grill on a Weber or not.I highly recommend this set!I grill a lot. When I got married, one of the gifts received was a grill tools set from a well-known high-end cooking shop (I don't know if Amazon wants other companies mentioned by name). They are beautiful, work well, but they have rosewood handles, that while pretty and functional mean you can't leave them outside and the dishwasher is off-limits. I've always admired people that clean up immediately after eating and entertaining but try as I might, I will never be one of them. I would love to leave my tongs hanging off the side of the grill until I'm good and ready to clean up and put stuff awayusually the next morning as I tend to enjoy many adult beverages while preparing said BBQ feasts! I came to dread pulling out my very pretty BBQ tools because I knew it meant I'd be washing them in the sink and I can't tell you how much I hate that. When I switched from cooking on a gasser to using charcoal and wood, I began cooking on the grill more and more. And I started hating my grill tools more and more. When I saw these, they looked like it would be the answer I needed. They are solid. They feel good in the hand. The tongs open widely, are spring-loaded and have a lock on them to lock closed. The spatula has a beveled leading edge which makes it easier to slide under your burgers. The fork is a fork, don't know anyone that actually uses these but whatever, it's included. All three have hooks to hang them on things and rubber where your hand grips the tool. And they are DISHWASHER-SAFE. Yeah, boy, I love these things. Toss them in the dishwasher when you are done and they look as good as they did the day you bought them. I guess they are relatively expensive but I've never minded paying for quality and I feel they are worth what they cost. They should last a good long time and expect to use these for many years.
Want Weber Style 6445 Professional-Grade Stainless-Steel 3-Piece Barbeque Tool Set Discount?
Anybody who does outdoor cooking can tell you there are three specific things they need in a set of grill tools. First, it has to be heavy duty enough to handle a big piece of meat without bending. Second, it can't rust if you forget it outside overnight. Third, no plastic trim that is going to melt in the fire. Right there, 90% of the sets marketed as Father's Day bargains fall short.I expected much more from Weber as a three-time owner (Genesis, bullet smoker and Smoky Joe). And these tools are a big disappointment. The design overpowers the function. They're great if you are a collector of Danish Modern but otherwise they are awkward to use and not really thought out. The tines of the fork can be bent with your fingers... not good. The tongs lack a clasp to keep them shut when they're not in use. Worst of all, the overall balance is off. They don't have that comfortable heft when you are using them and when you hang them on the pegs on the side of your Genesis the slightest jostle knocks them to the ground.
The day after I first used these I was in a big box store and saw a set from K*ngsford at half the price. Wish I'd bought those instead.

Jaccard Supertendermatic 48-Blade Tenderizer
Pros:
1. Professional caliber tool; strong, well engineered and manufactured.
2. Ergonomic design handle bulges at top for good grip, it's comfortable, and no sharp edges.
3. Protective cover slides over the three rows of knives, for storing the tool.
4. The tool has three blades and each one has 16 tiny knives. They don't just "dent" the meat, they make 48 slices (3 x 16) up to an inch deep. E.g., if a steak is 1" thick or less, the cuts go all the way through. You don't have to be strong to do this my wife is the tool user.
5. For safety, those sharp knives are only exposed when the tool is pressed down firmly against the spring-loaded bottom plate.
6. Each stainless steel blade is replaceable for about five bucks. Search Google on "Jaccard Replacement Blade".
7. It actually does make steaks and other meats more tender and opens them up for marinade to soak in. We use it every time we grill steaks or chicken.
Cons:
1. Might have to clean by hand if meat particles get stuck between the blades/knives. Since raw meat may contain unhealthy bacteria, the tool must be thoroughly cleaned with soap and water (e.g., the dishwasher) after every use.
Summary:
Excellent product. I live in the Midwest and boneless skinless chicken breasts prices have plummetted as compared to what they were a few years ago, but inexperienced cooks have made their preparation sometimes an exercise in patience with dry, chewy, stringy or sometimes rubbery meat. If it isn't overdone it is underdone. My mother usually pounded them flat to tenderize and make it easier to cook with consistent results. When I saw this product, boneless chicken came instantly to mind... either grilling or baking. It being winter, I decided to make a simple meal of Shake-n-Bake chicken breasts for my parents without telling them that I used the meat tenderizer. They came out so juicy and tender raved my mother as my father used a butter knife to cut them, they were perfectly and evenly cooked and to my surprise were as plump as they came out of the package. Just 3 or 4 times per breast and they were done. I am now dreaming of summer steaks, or even a chuck roast in the crockpot later this week. I am very pleased with the Jaccard Meat Tenderizer as it didn't change the texture of the meat as other had reported, and mine has two flat-head screw holes on one side and the blades can be replaced. I paid nearly $40 for mine at a local restaurant supply store and I think it will more than pay for itself by having GREAT meals at home instead of eating out. You can buy far better meat in the store than they have in most restaurants anyway.
Buy Jaccard Supertendermatic 48-Blade Tenderizer Now
I purchased this product from Maine Supply. Excellent seller by the way. I have used the Jaccard on chuck steak, a 5lb rump roast, pork tenderloin, round steak, boneless chicken breast, and chuck roast. The product does exactly as stated. It without a doubt tenderizes, decreases cooking time, and allows for marinades to penetrate readily. Tenderizing the rump roast on all sides gives the arm a workout but not too bad. And it is not as hard to clean up as some may lead you to believe as long as you clean right after using it and dont let the meat residuals dry on it. The benefit of the product by far out weighs any difficulty in cleaning. I cannot say enough good things about the Jaccard.Read Best Reviews of Jaccard Supertendermatic 48-Blade Tenderizer Here
I bought this item to tenderize grass fed beef because it was specifically recommended by the rancher. It does a wonderful job! The difference between a Jaccard tenderized steak and an unmodified steak was astounding. I'm so pleased to have found an excellent way to tenderized without needing to alter the flavor with marinades and without adding any chemicals. I highly recommend this product.Want Jaccard Supertendermatic 48-Blade Tenderizer Discount?
I worked restaurant kitchens most of my life. You know how tender the steaks are in those joints that charge 100 bucks for a NY Strip? I'll let you in on a secret. It's not the beef they use. It's not the way they cook it. It's not a special marinade or chemical tenderizer. It's this device. The Jaccard. In fact, this tool is so important and so ubiquitous that "jaccard" is used as a verb, as in, "Don't forget to jaccard that steak or it will be tough."Trust me on this. Nothing you can buy at any price will make a bigger difference in the quality of the meat you prepare. Do yourself a favor. Get one, and be the envy of your less equipped friends.

Weber 7443 18-1/2-Inch One-Touch Cleaning System Kit for Grills
Pros: Parts appear reasonably durable and no tools are needed for assembly while following the pictorial instructions.
Cons: Carefully weigh whether you can remove the old parts without damaging the kettle before you buy this kit and find you can't use it. If the rest of your grill is in poor shape, it would be more practical to buy a new one before spending this much. Tools may be necessary to remove old parts.Instructions are simple but pay attention to the slots on the blade ends for proper alignment. May take 2 people to hold blades in kettle while applying sufficient pressure to secure and insert the handle outside the kettle. Your biggest problem may be in removing the old rusted blades and cleaning up the kettle for the new ones.

This little product saved me a significant amount of money versus buying a new grill because of one broke part. Getting the old part off was a huge pain, involving a drimel tool and some pliars. The new one installs differently from the old one, but the design makes since and should make it's replacement much easier than the original part. Having looked for an Ash and Coal rake or hoe for awhile I settled on this one. It is beautifully finished and longer than anything else I could find. The hoe portion is also larger although set at about a 115 degree angle (angled away from the handle), which is not clear in the description. It is much longer than anything I saw and if you are looking for a hash hoe this would be the best choice (stainless). It appears (I have not used it extensively) that it will work very well for both charcoal and ash movement.I can't comment (yet) on the durability but have noted that the socket on the end on the end of the handle has some play in it. It is secured by a small brad and I plan on pulling that, filling with epoxy and re-fastening it before too long.
A really lovely addition to the grill toolset.
I will update after use.
