Bayou Classic CI-7410, 10-Gal. Cast Iron Jambalaya Pot, Tripod Stand, and 2 Lift Hooks

So I'm not your average consumer for a jambalaya pot. I'm a practicing pagan, and very active in my local faith community in Wisconsin. Cauldrons are a frequently used symbol and tool in our practice, and I was looking for one that would be big enough to actually hold warm cider for a fall celebration. When I tried to find one to purchase, however, I discovered that large cauldrons run in the $500+ range, so was very discouraged until I started randomly searching Amazon for cast iron products and found this! When seasoned all over, this jambalaya pot looks almost exactly like what we think of as a classic cauldron. I bought it, seasoned it and used it at our festival to much applause. I would highly recommend this product to other pagans. Why shell out an extra $300 just to buy a 'cauldron' when you can just rename a 'jambalaya pot' and no one will ever know the difference?

A few notes on the logistics of owning this product.

1)It is huge. I read over the specifications, but was still amazed at how big and heavy it really was. When I was transporting it I was glad I have a station wagon type car, as it wouldn't have fit in a normal trunk.

2) It is heavy. I was able to lift it with difficulty, but to transport it longer distances really needed either a strong man, or two people each holding one of the pot-hooks (Don't loose those!) When it was full of liquid I would not have even wanted to try to move it. That would have been impossible and dangerous when the liquid was hot. If you need to transport the cauldron off the fire for serving you'll have to empty it first.

3) Before using it you need to clean and season it. While I've seasoned cast iron pans before, preparing my cauldron what a whole other story. I had to wash it in my bath tub as it was much too big to go in the sink, and then clean off the scratches the legs left on the bottom of the tub. There is no way to season this in a conventional oven, it would probably break it. To season it you really need to use an open fire. I was lucky that there was a camp-fire at the event the day before I wanted to use it. I spent several hours carefully wiping Crisco over the whole thing, which turned it a really beautiful black. While purists will tell you to use bacon fat to season, I found that vegetable based Crisco worked just fine. There were vegans in the group would would be drinking out of it and I didn't want to offend anyone.

4) The stand it comes with is adequate, but I was a bit worried about how sturdy it really was when I had it full of liquid over the fire. I ended up not using the feet that came with the stand, and sunk the legs as deep as I could push them into the ash of the fire pit. The entire time I had it over the fire I watched it like a hawk for signs that it might be tipping. It did fine, but I'd monitor it to be sure.

5)It takes a while to heat up when its full of liquid, but not as long as you would think. I was really worried the cider wouldn't heat fast enough, so I built up the fire very hot. This resulted in me finding out how very well this pot heats liquid. In under 10 minutes the whole pot was scalding hot. I ended up having to damp down the fire and add more cider to keep people from burning their tongues! Cider is the only think I've cooked in it, but from that experience I would say it works VERY well to cook in. The 10 gallon model is so large I am sure you could feed 15-20 hungry people out of it.

My only complaint with the quality is that the stand could be more sturdy. The vessel itself is very high quality. Its very thick sturdy iron, and seemed to heat evenly. The protective wax coating it was shipped with came off fairly quickly, and when seasoned it was really a thing of beauty. I'm considering investing in another, smaller, pot from Bayou Classic so as to have a more reasonably size cauldron, and one I could cook with on camping trips for a smaller group. I would highly recommend this product for both jambalaya fans and for pagans in search of reasonably priced working cauldrons.

This is exactly what I was looking for! I was especially pleased with the free shipping. Screwing the legs onto the stand was a little difficult, but if you oil the threads first, it's a lot easier. I agree that it would've been nice for the feet to be welded on, but it's not that big of a deal to me.

This wasn't the exact corer I was initially wanting, however, with the time crunch I was under to get one, this was the best I could do. When I received this item I realized that it wasn't what was pictured here in this listing. Instead, it was the corer that I had initially wanted! This pepper corer was the answer to a comment by my son, an amateur cook. He said, "They should make a pepper corer, but the local stores don't have any." Since I thought it would be a good surprise for his birthday, I found several on line, but most were included in sets with a pepper grill, and he already had a grill. This one was perfect, and he is very pleased with its performance. The price was reasonable, too.

Although I think the picture is close to the unit sold, it's a bad likeness, but it works wonderfully! If you want to see a more accurate picture, look at the king cooker JRC. The unit you will receive is a curved, serrated (but somewhat dull-good, Japs are soft) blade with a sharp peeler on the back. Peeler is the best way I can describe it but it's more like a backwards peeler, or inside out. Either way it takes every bit of the guts and veins of a Jap out including however much of the sidewalls you want, very nice for the guests that can't take the heat since that's where the heat is.

don't waste your time with a jap holder, use thin sliced bacon, wrap the top, continue around, down to the end-toothpick and throw on the grill.

I purchased this item online and within one week the timer did not return to zero (stuck at 4 minutes) and continued to run unless I unplugged it. I phoned the company, only to be told by someone called Moe, that they only sold to retailers and they could not help me !Be very wary of any of this company's products.

I got my Infra Chef Oven about 3 months ago and like my title says, "It was good while it lasted".

I cooked just about everything I could think of from burgers to chicken to toasting english muffins for breakfast. The Infra Chef did a good job with just about everything I threw at it, but the oven just didn't last.

The first thing to go was the timer. It didn't go back the the "0" mark and by not doing so it kept the oven on. Later on it would do the opposite. The timer would reach "0" and the oven would yet still be on!

After a while I got use to checking the food more often, but it was still annoying having to do so.

Later, the heating ring (I think that's what they call it) lit up much darker than usual one day. It still gave off heat so I just thought it was dirty from cooking and I could find a way to clean it later. I didn't give it much attention but as it turned out, it was a sign that it was about to go. Days later the ring just shorted out right in front of me. No light, no heat, nothing!

I didn't pay much for the oven, $50 dollars, so I wasn't too upset and repairing it would've been pointless (to me anyway) if the only thing they could do was to put that same type heating ring in place again. So I kept the bowl and toast rack and threw the rest away.

I had a Nuwave oven before this one, but the dome began to crack so I got the Infra Chef. Too bad it didn't have the quality to last because the food tasted pretty good.

I bought, sadly, the NuWave oven..$120!!!!! what a mess it was to clean, etc....

The Infra-Chef is same size, but it's basis is a huge, oven-tempered glaas bowl...how easy is that to clean!!!?? PLUS it even washes itself!!

I deeply regret the wasted money on the darn NuWave, but the Infra-Chef makes up for it; whatever you want to do; broil, steam, bake, roast, etc..

It even includes the basic 2 racks, one high and one low, and a non-stick pan, and tongs, and even a lid holder..& of course an instruction booklet with recipes...

As I said, grab this at a CVS if you can.....I sure as HELL wouldnt have paid Amazon's price for it!

The unit came quickly via UPS and all appeared to be OK. I unpacked it, washed what I was supposed to wash, and tried to start cooking. The light come on and the fan goes whirrrrr, but no heat.

The instruction manual had both a toll free number and an email address for Midwestern Trading Group out of the Chicago area. I called them, and the first time they wanted more info on where I got it than I had in front of me, so I hung up, got a printout of the Amazon sales receipt, and called back. This time I got Voice mail and left a message with a call back number, as instructed. For good measure I sent an email message to the address in the instruction manual, attaching a copy of the sales transaction. So far two voice mail messages and one email response, and NO RESPONSE!

I then went to Amazon to return it as defective, and found out I could order another while I am sending the first one back for free. I am giving the product one more chance because I want one, but I have trepidation about anything involving Midwest.

So i will try one more time on my faith in Amazon alone.

However when I got it in the mail I discovered that Jim Beam is a permanant part of the iron and what you write with the letters is the part that can be changed. As previous reviewer noted, "JIM BEAM" is "permanently" affixed to the iron. A grinding wheel easily solves that problem, however.

It works especially well for using just a little in a nonstick fry pan. With a soft squeeze about a tablespoon comes out and can be spread around a 10 or 12 inch skillet, much less than if I pour out of the bottle. I don't like a dry "fried" egg from a nonstick pan so this is a good solution.

Good idea but bad design. It leaks when positioned in the ceramic holder but worse the lid pops off when you try and use it spilling the oil everywhere. It's not useable!

Filled this with coconut oil and use it DAILY! It is so easy to just take top off and spread oil evenly around pan surface before heating up to cook in...No messy brush to replace in jar in frigerator or to wash each time...It looks fine on my countertop...it looks white on white because of the coconut oil but it really wouldn't matter if it was a different shade. Just get one and enjoy the fun and convience!

Worst fondue pot ever. Sure, neat grill & broiling abilities. ABSOLUTELY NO INSTRUCTIONS WHAT-SO-EVER!!!! Oil doesn't get near hot enough to cook meat. It has a setting 1-5, but no explanation for the tempertaures of 1-5. Might be good for cheese or chocolate, but don't get your hopes up. BTW, don't bother looking for the company that made this, I can't find a thing on it. I was hoping to find better instructions or some sort of customer service line, zilch. I would not recommend buying this. I'll be lucky to get half my money back if I decide to sell it on craigslist, ebay, or a garage sale. Very disappointed. Take this as fair warning.

Haven't had a chance to use the item but Newcool Store was helpful and I will do business in the future with them.

These are the best tongs ever. The have a rubber handle which is easy to hold and makes them slip resisant. They can be locked closed for easy storage. They are heat resistant but I learned the hard way not to use them on the grill. I melted the tip just a little bit.

I needed tongs to use with my Teflon pans and these tongs do a great job picking up and turning food. You can turn a slice of bacon with ease. They are easy to use and will not scrach the finish on you pots and pands.

I have one negative thou. When frying plantains or crab cakes, anything "flat", it's hard to slide under the food to flip them. It takes some maneuvering and patience. I would suggest thinner grips.

Nordic Ware Pancake Pans

I was a bit hesitant to buy after reading a couple of the reviews but was willing to take a chance. I really don't see why there was any negative comments about it. As long as you spray your pan first, there is no issue with sticking. You will have issues if you try to turn them before they are cooked on one side but that's true regardless of your pan. I even used a waffle recipe on this rather than a pancake recipe and it was just fine.

I can't wait to surprise my granddaughters at breakfast time! It takes so little to make them happy yet the memories last for years. I only get to see them once a year since they live far away, but throughout the year they talk about the special breakfasts Oma fixes for them. I always have something unique at breakfasts & they've come to expect it as tradition. In time, I'd like to get some of the other pans just for the variety...And the thing is my husband & I are kids at heart so we'll use them even when the little ones aren't here.

We've had a great time making pancakes and eggs in this pan. The kids love them. Keep in mind, these are small pancakes, so it takes a while to cook up a meal. I'm thinking of buying another pan (with different animals) so I can get two sets going at a time. We use some spray on olive oil and have had no problem with sticking or with clean up. Took a couple of tries to get the temperature right, but once we found it, the fun was on.

This broke our glass stovetop the first time we used it. We had to buy a new stove because of that. There is no warning on the label. We read online that the cast iron coils under each animal face cause a seal with the stove top and traps the heat. The heat builds up and breaks the stovetop.

Weber Style 6445 Professional-Grade Stainless-Steel 3-Piece Barbeque Tool Set

We've owned one too many grill tool sets. The ones I remember are: a gigantic wooden set where the tools were heavy, awkward, and the wood was rotting and worn. The 2nd set was worse: we got metal but it had so many joints that recently it fell apart while grilling! So I was in the market for a good brand, all metal SOLID construction (no seams), dishwasher safe, and lastly and least important attractive isn't bad. I searched local stores and they had so little stock, mostly wood sets which I wanted to avoid.

I was impressed when I opened the Amazon box. Quality thick metal, attractive, looked long & large and perfect for hot grills. My husband's very impressed and said grilling with them was 'perfect'. You can't see it in the picture very well but there's a non-slip coating on the bottom of each tool, which is nice (as long as it doesn't fall apart.) We washed the set in the dishwasher already (on top rack) and they turned out brand new looking. The only thing you need to add to this set is a grill brush for cleaning.

I was torn between this set and the All-Clad set. Obviously the All-Clad is over triple the price so I went with this set and was pleased. If for some reason this set dies prematurely, I will be forced to buy the All-Clad as I am sick of rebuying the same thing. But thankfully, for now, I didn't have to & saved money. I love the quality!

This is my first Weber product and I must say I am thrilled. If my grill dies I will most likely buy a Weber.

Try this set out; I bet you'll be pleased.

Update: 6 months later, the set's holding up beautiful and cleans up nicely in dishwasher. A great purchase.

I have used lots of different types of bbq tools and these by far are the best. The tongs are really where it is at, the other tools don't really matter as much. Some tongs aren't spring loaded unlike these which are and don't open very far, maybe far enough to grab a chicken leg, but that is it. These tongs will open to the width of a pork chop and the thing that I like most is the actual gripping surface, the jaws are nice and smooth so they will not tear skin! If your thinking that this set is too expensive at least buy the tongs individually, well worth it. I used to think that anything that had the Weber logo was just expensive because of the brand, but the more I use their stuff, the more I can justify the price tag.

I grill a lot. When I got married, one of the gifts received was a grill tools set from a well-known high-end cooking shop (I don't know if Amazon wants other companies mentioned by name). They are beautiful, work well, but they have rosewood handles, that while pretty and functional mean you can't leave them outside and the dishwasher is off-limits. I've always admired people that clean up immediately after eating and entertaining but try as I might, I will never be one of them. I would love to leave my tongs hanging off the side of the grill until I'm good and ready to clean up and put stuff awayusually the next morning as I tend to enjoy many adult beverages while preparing said BBQ feasts! I came to dread pulling out my very pretty BBQ tools because I knew it meant I'd be washing them in the sink and I can't tell you how much I hate that. When I switched from cooking on a gasser to using charcoal and wood, I began cooking on the grill more and more. And I started hating my grill tools more and more. When I saw these, they looked like it would be the answer I needed. They are solid. They feel good in the hand. The tongs open widely, are spring-loaded and have a lock on them to lock closed. The spatula has a beveled leading edge which makes it easier to slide under your burgers. The fork is a fork, don't know anyone that actually uses these but whatever, it's included. All three have hooks to hang them on things and rubber where your hand grips the tool. And they are DISHWASHER-SAFE. Yeah, boy, I love these things. Toss them in the dishwasher when you are done and they look as good as they did the day you bought them. I guess they are relatively expensive but I've never minded paying for quality and I feel they are worth what they cost. They should last a good long time and expect to use these for many years.

Anybody who does outdoor cooking can tell you there are three specific things they need in a set of grill tools. First, it has to be heavy duty enough to handle a big piece of meat without bending. Second, it can't rust if you forget it outside overnight. Third, no plastic trim that is going to melt in the fire. Right there, 90% of the sets marketed as Father's Day bargains fall short.

I expected much more from Weber as a three-time owner (Genesis, bullet smoker and Smoky Joe). And these tools are a big disappointment. The design overpowers the function. They're great if you are a collector of Danish Modern but otherwise they are awkward to use and not really thought out. The tines of the fork can be bent with your fingers... not good. The tongs lack a clasp to keep them shut when they're not in use. Worst of all, the overall balance is off. They don't have that comfortable heft when you are using them and when you hang them on the pegs on the side of your Genesis the slightest jostle knocks them to the ground.

The day after I first used these I was in a big box store and saw a set from K*ngsford at half the price. Wish I'd bought those instead.
