George Foreman GRP106BPP 360 Electric Nonstick Grill with 3 Interchangeable Grill Plates, Platinum

I bought this grill and used it all the time until my fiance put the plates back onto it wet and turned it on, shorting it out. It has a large cooking surface and the fact that it can make quesadillas and pizzas unlike the other models is a huge bonus. Removable plates are awesome. I have never had an issue with them falling off, I've never been burnt by it, and though it may take up a lot of space (I don't think it takes up all that much) what do you expect with a large cooking surface? We've looked at all the other grills available to us and didn't want any of them. We wanted this one again and I can't wait to get it :)

I cannot believe what I just read in previous review. Burn your hand? Technically you can burn or cut yourself doing just about anything on the kitchen.

This grill is doing an amazing job every single day. It's the second foreman grill I've owned and the only reason I'm no longer using my older one is because I had been using dishwashing soap to clean it and eventually it ruins non-stick surface. I didn't know this. I make pizza on my new grill every weekend, just buy some whole wheat crust, throw some veggies and chicken breast and grill. I haven't ordered pizza ever since I got the grill last year. If you're fitness competitor, bodybuilder or just health conscious person, you will be able to make your meals "fun" and never even crave any of that papa johns junk. I've made quesadillas on my grill, too, just to try.

Best part about this model is being able to remove the plates, thoroughly wash them in a sink and put back on and make sure they are hooked up PROPERLY. This is really not hard at all, unless you're mentally challenged...

Clearly, I am huge fan of the product.

But more affordable Foreman models are equally as good for grilling. And the griddle pan doesn't perform well enough to make this unit reliable for baking or cooking with it.

PROS:

++ Good for grilling beef or chicken

++ Interchangeable plates add versatility, allowing you to also bake, sauté & toast

++ Large cooking surface allows you to prepare meals for more people at once

++ Oversized drip tray to catch the run-off of fat & juices (must incline the unit in grilling mode)

++ Design allows for add-on plates, like the George Foreman Heart-Shaped Waffle Plates

CONS:

-Alternatives also grill well and are more affordable

-The unit requires a lengthy clean-up and setup process, both initially and after each use

-On high heat, the hinge can expand & tighten, making it hard to open

-The baking plate doesn't marry with the top plate or get hot enough to cook well

-The plate mounts allow too much play, creating a risk plates can detach

-Plates are not marked to ensure you install them the correct way

-Non-stick surface shows wear quickly & likely won't last long

-Cleanup is a challenge; food tends to stick to the grooves

-Large footprint; you have to use it sideways on most counters to fully open it

-The hinge doesn't rotate enough to float for thicker items like it's supposed to

-Heating up takes a while, especially for grilling which requires the highest heat

-Quesadilla plates aren't included with this version (though it's a small loss)

-Large items like pizzas take too long to cook

-The manual says the plug should be grounded, but it's not

-No included storage to protect the unused plates

-Oversized handle is clumsy

-Cord is extremely short

THE ALTERNATIVES

Even though it's a good grill and sandwich press, I think the appearance and performance of the Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler is better for that purpose. And if you want a Foreman grill and want to save a little, there are tons of more affordable options like the George Foreman GR20B Family-Size Nonstick Grill or the George Foreman 3-in-1 Panini Press, Grill and Griddle.

CONCLUSION

This grill might work for you if you primarily need a large cooking surface. But it has too many serious flaws to recommend it. Look into one of the alternatives instead and avoid this model.

This is a really good grill a time saver and makes great food. But I am really cautious when using it. The plates are removable but does not secure properly. Even if you secure it properly the top plate might fall and burn you when you open the grill. I've burnt my hand real bad once. And today this thing almost burnt me again, the top plate became loose again.

Just becareful. It might work in the beginning. But trust me. It will burn you one day real bad, the top plate will fall on your hands when you least suspect it. It might be better to get the one with the non removable plate.

Grillmark Ceramic Briquettes, 60 Pieces

The briquettes were placed in my grill and they definitely made a difference in heat retention and cooking ease. I found lots of dust in the package though and a few chipped/damaged briquettes.

Well, wadda ya want? Fake briquettes, just like the bag says. The picture is pretty accurate, except the ones you get aren't as perfectly formed. Some have chipped edges and flanges from the manufacturing process, which is why I knocked off a star. The are greyish black in color, not jet black.

Most of my pots and pans are All-clad, which I love. However my All-clad non-stick pan is on its last legs but it is hard to throw out a pan that cost over $100. So when America's Test Kitchen recommended the T-Fal Professional Total Nonstick 12-1/2-Inch Saute Pan, I ran out and got one. It worked great. So when I saw this Paella Pan with the same non-stick surface and red heat button, I picked it up. So far it works the same as the one recommended by America's Test Kitchen. I love the size for those big family meals. The question with all non-stick pans is: how long will it last? But so far, so good.

I originally bought this for paella and was able to serve 6 with the amount I was able to cook in this pan. But, it's found new uses as well that make it one of my favorites in the kitchen. Perhaps best of all, is that I can use it all summer long to stir-fry all those veggies from our farmshare! It's large and can handle a huge amount of veggies. I've been using this daily, often 2-3 times a day, since about February of 2012. It has worked flawlessly. It doesn't leak, it doesn't clog, it heats consistently...it's been perfect for me. Even my Copco travel mugs fit under it if I remove the drip tray.

Yes there's a recall on it. I bought two of these so I let them recall one of them. You have to wait for Mr. Coffee to send you a pre-paid envelope, then cut off the power cord and mail it in, then wait for them to mail you a replacement coffee maker--the whole process takes about two months, which is ridiculous. The replacement unit is horrible. I don't like the way it opens and closes, it's not nearly as attractive, and my Copco travel mugs don't fit under it.

I gave away the inferior replacement they sent me and I still use my old one even though there's a recall. I haven't had a single problem. I'm not advising anyone to use a defective and potentially harmful product--I'm saying this because I'm unhappy Mr. Coffee left me without a coffee maker for a month and sent me a different product (not the same product with the issue fixed) that doesn't work as well after making me disable my old one.

That being said, I bought a lamp cord from a hardware store and spliced it onto my disabled coffee maker and I've been using it ever since with no issues. I'm giving this product a five-star review because I like the look and operation of it and it's worked flawlessly for me for over a year.

Pros:

1. Professional caliber tool; strong, well engineered and manufactured.

2. Ergonomic design handle bulges at top for good grip, it's comfortable, and no sharp edges.

3. Protective cover slides over the three rows of knives, for storing the tool.

4. The tool has three blades and each one has 16 tiny knives. They don't just "dent" the meat, they make 48 slices (3 x 16) up to an inch deep. E.g., if a steak is 1" thick or less, the cuts go all the way through. You don't have to be strong to do this my wife is the tool user.

5. For safety, those sharp knives are only exposed when the tool is pressed down firmly against the spring-loaded bottom plate.

6. Each stainless steel blade is replaceable for about five bucks. Search Google on "Jaccard Replacement Blade".

7. It actually does make steaks and other meats more tender and opens them up for marinade to soak in. We use it every time we grill steaks or chicken.

Cons:

1. Might have to clean by hand if meat particles get stuck between the blades/knives. Since raw meat may contain unhealthy bacteria, the tool must be thoroughly cleaned with soap and water (e.g., the dishwasher) after every use.

Summary:

Excellent product.

I live in the Midwest and boneless skinless chicken breasts prices have plummetted as compared to what they were a few years ago, but inexperienced cooks have made their preparation sometimes an exercise in patience with dry, chewy, stringy or sometimes rubbery meat. If it isn't overdone it is underdone. My mother usually pounded them flat to tenderize and make it easier to cook with consistent results. When I saw this product, boneless chicken came instantly to mind... either grilling or baking. It being winter, I decided to make a simple meal of Shake-n-Bake chicken breasts for my parents without telling them that I used the meat tenderizer. They came out so juicy and tender raved my mother as my father used a butter knife to cut them, they were perfectly and evenly cooked and to my surprise were as plump as they came out of the package. Just 3 or 4 times per breast and they were done. I am now dreaming of summer steaks, or even a chuck roast in the crockpot later this week. I am very pleased with the Jaccard Meat Tenderizer as it didn't change the texture of the meat as other had reported, and mine has two flat-head screw holes on one side and the blades can be replaced. I paid nearly $40 for mine at a local restaurant supply store and I think it will more than pay for itself by having GREAT meals at home instead of eating out. You can buy far better meat in the store than they have in most restaurants anyway.

I purchased this product from Maine Supply. Excellent seller by the way. I have used the Jaccard on chuck steak, a 5lb rump roast, pork tenderloin, round steak, boneless chicken breast, and chuck roast. The product does exactly as stated. It without a doubt tenderizes, decreases cooking time, and allows for marinades to penetrate readily. Tenderizing the rump roast on all sides gives the arm a workout but not too bad. And it is not as hard to clean up as some may lead you to believe as long as you clean right after using it and dont let the meat residuals dry on it. The benefit of the product by far out weighs any difficulty in cleaning. I cannot say enough good things about the Jaccard.

I bought this item to tenderize grass fed beef because it was specifically recommended by the rancher. It does a wonderful job! The difference between a Jaccard tenderized steak and an unmodified steak was astounding. Griddle works great. Small enough to store in our travel trailer but big enough to cook everything we need. First attempt at pancakes I had temp too high. It did burn all of them evenly though. No hot spots or cool spots. Adjusted temp and all is well. Would reccommend to others.

My expensive B & D quit cooking on the edges after a few of uses, plus the surface became VERY sticky. When I took the WB out of the box I was appalled by the cheapness and light weight of the product. this griddle you cannot get an even temp on.....it either burns or doesn't cook the food.the heating element left a ring on the cookside....the good thing about it is you can wash it in the sink.we had an old WestBend that lasted for years and was great....sadly dissappointed in this one.

Okay ... so last weekend was the first time we used our new stove for some heavy cooking ... deep frying to be precise. We fried several loads of french fries, chicken strips, and cooked hamburger patties on the griddle ... simultaneously. With 17 impatient and hungry teenagers walking into the kitchen every 90 seconds to see if the food was ready, with the woks filled to the rim (my mistake ... I filled em too much), with all available BTUs firing at full force, with sizzling (and splattering) oil all over, by the time party ended at 2:30 a.m., the sight of the stove was worse than filthy. Oil was all over the stove and was cooked brown and black. I did not have the energy to clean. Honestly, I didn't think cleaning would do any good, I thought the damage was permanent. Few days went by while the cooking (and nagging from the wife) continued. Last night I tried to clean with multi-purpose household cleaner. Not even the mildest stain budge. So this morning I went to the Home Depot and bought 3 different and well known oven and grill cleaners. Easy-Off Heavy Duty Oven and Grill Cleaner was one of em. Came home, sprayed little bit of each of the product on three different areas and waited. 15 minutes later I went back to see if any of it worked. I was not expecting much (you should've seen my stove to understand why). I wiped the treated areas with clean paper towel and my jaw dropped. While the other 2 products did their job ... sorta, Easy-Off worked like magic. It removed some 1/16" thick layer of grease from the treated area in one swipe. Despite the fact that I had to treat the stove 3 times to bring it back to never-before-used condition, I am giving this product 5 fully justified stars and will try more of their cleaning products in future.

I am disappointed in this oven cleaner. The odor is overwhelming, and the cleaning ability is underwhelming. I went through three cleaning cycles with this product on an oven that was far from filthy. Even with three consecutive cleanings, the bottom of the oven still had baked-on dirt. I am not sure what is 'heavy duty' about this, but it is most assuredly NOT its cleaning power. I won't be buying this again.

I was looking for a product to clean the top of my gas stove and the two large grate plates that sit on the surface--have had the stove 2-3 years and even though I clean it often, it was getting a build up of hard to remove stuff. I put each grate in a plastic bag, sprayed the grates, then sprayed the surface of the stove and covered with plastic bag as well; left overnight. In the morning just wiped the gunk away--the stove and grates look like new! So glad I tried this product.

I already suspected these would be good as I have the standing version and it's been great for a couple of years. These put out a good stream of air and, on the highest setting, make some nice white noise, if you like that.

I bought this to go with the Cuisinart CGG-200 All Foods Grill. One came with the grill, but this allows me to cover nearly all the grilling surface so I can grill seafood and vegetables at the same time. It works just like it's supposed to.....nothing magical, and no issues.

The first time I used this it warped as soon as I put cold veggies on it. I had it preheating on medium heat and put cold veggies that had been marinating in the fridge. One corner popped up and flipped off a few pieces. It did return to normal after a while on the grill, but has done the warping/popping things 2 of the 3 times I've used it. It is a little small, but allows for about 3 servings of veggies to be cooked at a time and leaves the grill open for cooking meat.

Bayou Classic Dual Burner Outdoor Patio Stove

I purchased this unit for homebrewing. For the first 30 minutes, this thing rocked. I turned it off to add some ingredients, and now it putters out a flame. If I turn on both burners, it pretty much stops working because the flames go out. I have been working for 55 minutes to bring 5 gallons of liquid to a boil. I am at 190F. I will up the stars if Bayou Classic is able to correct the problem, but for now I am less than impressed.

I called Bayou Classic to receive a new regulator. The person on the phone was very friendly and said one would ship right away. It has been more than two weeks and I am still waiting. I called the 800 number and was sent to a voice message instructing me to call another number. I have had this product almost 30 days without a sucessful use. I might just ship it back.

--UPDATE: 5/22 ---

I finally spoke to someone at Bayou Classic two weeks ago. I was told the regulators had just come in and one would ship the next day. I am still waiting for my part. I have been trying to reach Bayou Classic via phone all morning, and I only get a busy signal. I would not recommend buying the company's product. The people seemed friendly, but the company has failed to deliver a replacement part within 6 weeks.

Amazon customer service was nice enough to send me a replacement burner. As always, I think Amazon customer service is great, but I am still not impressed with Bayou Classic. I would not buy its products again.

This really needs to be a 1 star review. I received my replacement unit and tested it. The gas line had a leak in it. So you are not surprised, it says Made in China. The regulators Bayou Classic received from the manufacturer are bad. If you've read this far, I should note that I still have yet to receive my replacement gas regulator from the company after 6 weeks. Amazon is refunding me because this product is junk. Do not buy Bayou Classic!

In doing my best to be fair, I received the replacement regulator today. It's too bad I shipped the product back for a refund 10 days ago. I wish Bayou International would have just said there was a backlog on this item the times I called. Although, nearly 8 weeks is a pretty long time to wait for a replacement part.

This is a great cooker. My husband wanted one that had two burners and no wind guards. Saw this and the price was great. We cooked a boiler of shrimp on one side and a boiler of potatoes and corn on the other. Worked wonderful. It was sturdy and just what he wanted. I would highly recommend this cooker. I don't think you will be disappointed in it.

First of all I'll throw in a plug for Amazon....we have purchased from them several times in recent years and have always been happy. We received our table in super fast time. It works great with my new cast iron reversible griddle #7428 28". My only regret is that I didn't know about the 3 eyed unit at the time I purchased it. Although it is still great I wish the legs were more sturdy and about a foot longer. I am a short 5'3 and we still had to build a rise to set in on. The legs seem a little flimzy but still work well as long as you are careful. I had to contact theBayou company as one of the controls didn't work but they were great and the piece arrived UPS fast in about two days. I would buy this all over again.

After using for a while I will add that we have had no problems..although I have never felt that the legs were sturdy enough nor long enough; we have had no problems. Just a warning...be very careful ...especially is there are children around. This is no toy. This grill gets really hot and I do worry about the stability of those legs.

Not bad for the price. I bought mine directly from somewhere else back then. It's really meant to be outdoors. I had mine for more than five years. The only maintenance you need to do is cover the regulator assembly to prevent rain water to get in and try not to get the burner wet with oil bec. it's going to be rusty.

I love this box of matches. It has a vintage kind of feel to it. The matches work perfectly. I think I will be able to reuse the box for more matches.

APOLOGY: To anyone I led astray with my original review, I am very sorry that I said these matches light easily. That was when I first got my order of three boxes, and the first few matches I tried lit beautifully. But a few matches into the first box, I started having trouble getting them to light and my ultimate success rate was very poor. The second box I opened did not contain one single match that lit. I have not opened the third box, yet.

These matches are for ARTWORK ONLY. The matches themselves are not functional. If you want a unique matchbox spice up the decor of your home, these are great. The artwork is really unique. However if you want functional matches, look elsewhere because these do not light when struck. They sputter and spark and then go out. You cannot use them to light candles or anything else.

I am a big believer in the old fashioned "bathroom match", but didn't like having a junky looking box of matches in my powder room. These match boxes are beautiful and really add to the look of any room they are in. I just replaced the nonfunctional matches with ones that actually work and they are fine in the bathroom.

The negatives are that they are very expensive for the amount of matches you get and unfortunately the matches don't light. I had been willing to buy them for the artwork on the box, and refill with cheaper matches when the originals are used up, but when it came I realized that there is only one striking surface on the side of the box (instead of two like on most matchboxes). This means that the box itself has a limited lifespan, and when the striking surface is worn down, the box must be discarded. My plans for reusing the box are not going to work out like I had hoped.

Still, it is pretty and classy looking, and if you can afford SIX DOLLARS for a small box of matches that don't light then I highly reccommend these. I love looking at them and get compliments from guests. It is a quirky addition to my home and I think little details like this are what make a house interesting.
