GrillPro 40730 2 In 1 Chrome Plated Turner/Tong

GrillPro 40730 2 In 1 Chrome Plated Turner/TongWe've been using this grill spatula for years & when it became clear we needed to replace it we looked everywhere for the same kind of spatula. There ARE none! This is the only one we've found that works as well for turning over hamburgers/steaks/fish/etc on the grill w/o worries of dropping what you're turning over. I was thrilled to finally find a replacement here on the net, and bought 4 at once!

We have had a set of these for more than 10 years and grill often. The set we have is so old we have tried replacing it with other tongs several times and each time return to our old grillpro. We have looked and looked for a new grillpro with no luck. We are happy to have found them again!

This combination spatula and tongs is the greatest barbecue tool. We had one and after many years, it feel apart. I went on Amazon and found almost the exact match. It's not fancy, but it works great!

I've wanted one of these spatula/tongs since I saw a friend using one to grill hamburgers a while back. I looked in several stores and didn't find them. I finally searched online and found them at Amazon. I bought 4 so I could give them as Christmas presents and then actually found them in a nearby specialty store. But, thanks Amazon for having such a unique item.

The turner is smaller than I expected but then I bought it to be a one tool solution to hauling multiple grilling tools for my RV. Handles will probably hold up okay, for the price it is what is to be expected.

Sharp R-1880LS Over The Range Microwave Convection Oven

Sharp R-1880LS Over The Range Microwave Convection Oven
  • Convection microwave oven browns, bakes, broils, crisps and roasts
  • Over-the range design has built-in exhaust system with hood light and fan
  • 1.1 cu. ft. capacity with 850 watts of cooking power
  • 13 inch ceramic turntable with on/off option
  • High rack included for two-level baking and low rack may be used for baking, roasting or broiling

This is a remodel of a proven favorite. It's easy to understand and use, with predictable results. The new packaging is very modern and clean.

My only disappointment is the LCD display. It has a very highly-directional viewing angle, focusing down to facilitate use by shorter people. If standing near the display, I must stoop to read it. Otherwise, this item deserves a perfect "10".

I purchased this microwave/convection oven less than two years ago for my family's use. This consists of two people who work full time & the appliance was mainly used to do some baking and heat food, on occasion. A month ago the button broke. Sharp has no buttons in the United States to repair this appliance. The Sharp people in customer service never took notes so every time I called to try to find a new parts business, it was like the first time. Don't buy this appliance. It is cheaply made and Sharp has not maintained carrying an inexpensive part. It comes up as obsolete in the 12 parts places I have called. So, for almost $600 we have a two year old appliance but for a button, could work.

9/08/2011 A customer service person at Sharp finally did the right thing. They said that it was odd that no one offered me a new oven and that I didn't have a record or complaint # for all the phone calls. They sent me a new oven for a small fraction of the original price, and free shipping to send the defective one back. I am hopeful that this oven, dated manufactured in 2010 rather than the original one of 2008, will work well for many years. It was just, all along, a matter of finding the right person at the Sharp Corporation to take care of this problem. So, if you have any problems, KEEP CALLING. It worked for me.

This was such a good price for this particular item. I've compared the price online, and Amazon sold for by far the lowest price. Not to mention that there was no tax and no shipping fee.

The reason with 4 stars and not 5 is that power of this microwave is not that high. I had one from Panasonic with 1200 watt, and that was very nice until blew up after 7 years of hard work. I wanted a high power one, but they were too expensive.

The convection oven part is O.K. I've tested with some toffee cookies. Ones from my range/oven came out more moist inside and crisp outside. The convection oven dried the cookies, and they came out a bit too hard. Since I had only one oven before I bought this product, it is nice to have the second oven for the holiday seasons.

My old microwave was on the counter, and now I have so much more counter space. That's the part I love most of all.

This is an excellent convection microwave combo. Perfect for use instead of a conventional oven for a small family or for those times that a second oven is needed & as a microwave, too. The installation instructions were almost nonexistent but once installed it's been great! So many features, such as Sensor Heating & Sensor Cooking in the microwave mode. The convection oven has both preprogrammed times & temps with "compu" settings or you can enter your own. I would definitely recommend this oven.

I purchased this microwave as a replacement for my previous Sharp microwave. I had the previous one for about 10 years. It finally died. I felt the first one worked so well, that I would get a new Sharp to replace it. It turned out that the new oven was an exact replacement for my old oven. I was able to use the existing mounting plate in the back, as well as the holes lining up perfectly to bolt down from the top. It went so well, the new one was in, in less then 2 hours.

Some of the changes to the new microwave, seem to be an improvement on the old one. The touch panel is designed better, as well as the door. The door in my old microwave was developing cracks. I felt that it must be a pretty good design, being that it virtually had not changed that much in 10 years. The changes that were made, seem to be for the better.

Browne & Co Cuisipro 13-Inch Silicone Fish Tongs 13-Inch, Red

Browne & Co Cuisipro 13-Inch Silicone Fish Tongs 13-Inch, RedYou're looking at a review of a set of tongs. Quite the discerning tong-purchaser, aren't you? I'll give you as much information as I can to make your tong-buying decision easier.

Overall, the tongs are of an average build quality. Fit and finish could be better. The spring mechanism felt a little gritty until I gave it a spray of food-grade silicone. The locking mechanism is a bit too stiff, and no amount of fiddling has remedied that yet.

The widest part of the tongs is approximately 5 inches across. Keep this in mind if you are planning on picking up pieces of delicate fish that measure much more than 5 inches in any dimension. The length is ideal, allowing me to reach across either a hot pan or grill without getting too close to the heat.

So far, I've used the tongs on the following items, with the below results:

Salmon (steak) Flipped intact

Salmon (fillet) Flipped intact

Steelhead Trout (large fillet) Broke on flip

Cod (small fillet) Flipped intact

Cod (large fillet) Broke on flip

Catfish (fillet) Flipped intact

Tilapia (fillet) Flipped intact

Swai (fillet) Flipped intact

Chicken (boneless breast) Flipped intact

I've got a 25% failure rate on fish flips. Not good. On chicken, I've been 100% successful, however, I attribute that more to the fact that chicken is not a delicate protein.

I would shop around a bit more before committing to these tongs.

I have been cooking fish for our vacation shore lunches in the Boundary Waters for twenty years. I just received the Cuisipro Fish Tongs for Father's Day, and these things are the best thing ever! They are perfect for flipping fish. They are easy to use and very durable. Clean up is easy, too!

Whoever invented these tongs was brilliant. Cooking fish can sometimes be a delicate task, and these tongs are so specifically designed that when it comes to presentation time there are no worries the fillets will fall apart. I would recommend this handy tool to anyone who enjoys cooking fish as much as I do.

I bought this shortly after buying a counter top grill for the purpose of removing sandwiches. It has worked well for this purpose. It would have gotten 5 stars, but there is no way to self-close them, so am using a Velcro wrap to keep it closed for storage.

After researching long and hard for a fish turner, I chose this one based on some reviews. But, It can be improved by adding a lock to close it when not in use. By adding a lock, it would get five stars!

Turbo Convection Oven

Turbo Convection OvenA friend of mine purchased a Turbo oven last year from another manufacture and he swears by it. I Thought it would be nice to have ,but I didn't what to spend $139 as he did for his. When I entered Turbo Ovens into Amazon, the Oyama Turbo came up. Upon doing a little research on the Oyama, and others products like this , I saw they all had 1300 watts of power, ran by halogen heat source and used a fan to distribute the heat. So what was the difference? Each manufacture was charging double the price for their oven compared to the Oyama.

I decided to purchase this oven because it looked solid and had all the features as the expensive one's did.The Oyama arrived days later and the moment of truth was upon me.I opened the box up read the directions and within ten minutes I was ready to go. I decided to try a steak, and fourteen minutes later It was ready. The steak came out perfect and I was sold. The next couple of weeks I tried everything from pork chops to fish and everything came out great! As far as the clean up,a piece of cake. This product is for everyone and I wished I had bought it last year! This product would be great for college kids away from school.

I love this little oven. The glass bowl and metal racks clean up in the dishwasher. You do have to clean the lid by hand. I accidently got some water in the lid (where the motor is) once while cleaning it, and it tripped the GFI when I plugged it in. Set it on the stove while I used my regular oven and the heat dried it out. It worked fine as soon as it was dry again. With the two of us, I can put in a cornish game hen, potatoes and veggie and have dinner in 45 minutes with no added heat in the kitchen. That is especially nice in the summer. We use it several times a week and will do so even more this winter. I wish the glass lid came apart for cleaning, but that is a minor detail. I have not used it for bread or cake, but see no reason that would not work as well. A roast and a hen also cooked well in it. Mine has a timer that turns it off and you can also set the temperature. A handy guide on the lid suggests the temperature for various items.

Before I got this great product, I had a convection toaster oven. This new oven is faster on lower temperature. I like that it is very easy to clean too. I highly recommend this oven to those that like high quality for a bargain basement price!

Smart Planet PP-5 Waffle Cone Maker

Smart Planet PP-5 Waffle Cone MakerI love the waffle cone maker. The cones come out great! The only thing is, it gets so hot, that even with a mitt, it's difficult to open it up when ready.

I ordered this product on a whim one afternoon and wanted it the next day so I could make waffle cones for a 4th of July picnic. It came, and it almost conquered. If you've ever wanted waffle cones at home, this is a pretty easy and inexpensive way to take the consumption of ice cream to the next level.

The good: It heats up relatively quickly and its nonstick surface is easy to clean. Its instruction booklet comes with two recipes (original and chocolate). The original is pretty good. This appliance will smell pretty darn good if you don't leave the batter in too long. It makes for a good-sized cone, but can also do minis if you'd like. OR you can place a waffle over a tea cup or glass to make a waffle bowl.

Things to look out for with the APPLIANCE:

MESSY--as with most kitchen endeavors, waffle cone making is a messy process with any iron/method. With this product, make sure you have a towel or plate underneath it to catch any batter spillage. If you're putting in 1-2 tbs of batter, it should be pretty minimal.

HOT--Use a hot pad or towel to open the iron after it's done cooking. Have a butter knife or thin spatula on hand to remove the waffle from the iron and to place it on a towel on your rolling surface. Use the towel to roll the cone with the provided cone mold so it doesn't burn you.

Extra things about waffle cone making in general:

See above, because it's going to be true for most methods.

Try David Lebovitz's waffle cone recipe from The Perfect Scoop (available from Amazon) or Jeni Bauer's recipe from Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream At Home (also on Amazon). Finally, the best recipe I've done so far is actually Gluten-Free!

The above authors/ice cream makers give good tips on the process as well.

I'd recommend this product to anyone interested in making waffle cones for fun--it's definitely a hit with parties, family and friends. It is not, however, NSF-certified and if you're in the business of making ice cream, you'd already know that and be looking elsewhere.

I used to work at an ice cream shop and love fresh waffle cones, so my husband surprised me with this appliance for my birthday. I was not expecting it to make restaurant quality cones, but I thought I would get some decent cones at least. The only thing great about this appliance is the batter recipe found in the booklet. After trying to roll over 15 waffle cones, I'm returning it immediately, and here's why:

The lid isn't stable and will slam shut on you at the slightest touch (burning hot!)

The front handle/ lip that is supposed to be used for lifting the lid is burning hot and you have to use an oven mitt to touch it.

The indicator light does not click on and off consistently. Sometimes it indicates "ready" when the waffle is undercooked, and sometimes it indicates "ready" when the waffle is completely burned and inedible.

The waffles that I managed to cook okay were paper thin and tore easily, making it very difficult to roll into the cone shape.

The instructions were not very easy to follow and seemed disorganized.

Like I mentioned, many of the torn waffle scraps I sampled were delicious and the recipe is right on. But that's where the good ends and the bad begins. Please, don't waste your money or put anyone in danger by operating this appliance.

One star for the machine, an extra one for the recipe. I bought one of these machines two months ago. I agree with the person who said it is a dangerous machine as it can very easily cause severe burns.

The lid is unstable and the handle is searingly hot. Hot steam escapes over your hand when you open it, so always use a silicone mitt when using the machine.

If it hasn't already caused significant burns to users, I would be very surprised. The machine also has hot spots so that when one part of the cone is perfect, there are already burned spots elsewhere.

Howeverthe cone recipe is lovely. It is easy to roll and crisps up even if you stop cooking when it is pale, to avoid burnt spots.Still, there are recipes on the web so that is not a good reason to buy this machine.

I think it is worth spending the extra money to buy a better brand, which I will now do.
