I only rated this product a 3 because the heat is not evenly distributed. For the price its alright.....but I wish that I would have invested in something better. The Panini maker heats up quickly and is very easy to clean but overall you have to flip the sandwiches to get a fully even cook.

This George Foreman works fine and is fairly easy to clean, But the picture of it holding 5 hamburgers is a bit of a stretch. At best you can put 3 store bought patties. If you make your own patties, and they are small you will get five on the grill. The bun warmer will handle 2 buns at a time and then you have to overlap the pieces to get the plastic lid down.

I use my George Foreman Grill every day, sometimes twice a day. It cooks the pre-cooked frozen sirloin burgers I buy at SAMS club so perfectly that I want another one before I'm done eating the first one...and NO I don't weigh 300 lbs either. My dog loves licking the drip pan too. I also use it to sear vegys fresh or frozen. The top is kinda useless as a bun warmer.

They don't say it, but the bun warmer makes the top very heavy. When I cooked a homemade burger for my husband it squashed it flat and he wouldn't eat it. And it turns out the bun warmer is not good for anything else I thought maybe I could keep other things warm on it but it says not to.

Even though I wasn't thrilled with the idea of the bun warmer, I bought it anyway, because the reviews were very good.

It was very easy to clean.

I wouldn't call it family size except on the outside. It took up a large part of the counter.

My daughter likes flat burgers and I gave it to her. She was thrilled to get it.

So this Grill may be for you but it wasn't for me. If I had bought it at Walmart, I would have returned it.

I will get a different model without the bun warmer.

I bought this set for my husband as a Christmas present. The utensils seem to be well made. Unfortunately, when he opened the case, one of the closures snapped right off. We could see that the area where it had drilled to accommodate the closure had been drilled twice. We decided to just keep it since he wanted to use the utensils right away, but for the price, the case should be better made. He didn't want to take the time to return it.

Gave this to my husband for football tailgating. We'll have to wait until the fall to see how it holds up, but he loved it and the tools seem high quality. We haven't had any problem with the case.

Landmann 1508 Hearthmates Black Ash Bucket and Shovel Kit

Not a bad product, but the finish could use improvement.

While the can and shovel are heavy/sturdy enough, the black paint applied to both doesn't hold up well to hot coals. When shoveling out the woodstove, the hot coals in the can blistered the paint and actually caused it to burn. The whole house smelled like burned paint and it took some time with a floor fan at the patio door to draw the smoke out of the house.

It might make more sense to have the can and shovel "blued" as they do with firearms, as opposed to painted.

I live in a condo with an internal fireplace and ratehr than use wood I use those compressed logs (mostly Duraflames). These do a great job of burning right down to very little ash so I can get through quite a period without needing to empty the grating.

Prior to using this product I used a beach bucket and spade. Looked ridiculous sitting next to the fireplace but it worked. This product is a step up from that.

The bucket is quite large being around a foot diameter and a bit more than a foot high. The enamel was done well and it looks quite good sitting in the place of the neon green bucket and spade.

The shovel is simply a sheet of metal rolled into the shovel shape but is fairly solid and works well in getting to the corners of the back of the firebox.

Overall a pretty good looking product that does exactly what it says it does. I should have bought it earlier.

We bought this after our furnace failed and we weren't just using the wood stove for entertainment or a little extra coziness. When you are running a wood stove most of the day to heat the house, you can't just wait for the ash to be cold before cleaning it out.

The shovel cleans nicely and the lid fits well on the bucket. The wood handle is a nice touch and easier on the hands. The size of the bucket also works well. I didn't give it 5 stars because, well, I just couldn't give 5 stars to a bucket and shovel. However, for what they are they work great.

Makes burgers too big the diameter of the cylinder is over 4.5". If you're using lean ground beef or turkey, they'll end up bigger than most hamburger rolls.

If you remove the patties from the cylinder and freeze them with the dividers in place, it's very difficult to separate the burger from the divider.

The split cylinder can be tricky to assemble and disassemble.

There are better presses out there. I'm giving this one away.

I had the same problem with the patties sticking to the plastic when frozen, and the two half's, not wanting to come apart when cold, but the very simple fix was to spray the inside and parts that slide with Pam. now the burgers come out easy when frozen and it comes apart very easily. Also, I do not store my burgers in the unit. I make them and freeze them, then put them in a gallon freezer bag. I find they keep much longer this way. Up to 6 months.

This seems like a good idea in theory, but doesn't work in reality. The meat sticks to the hard plastic in the freezer, making it nearly impossible to get the patties out of the container. If the discs were made of flexible plastic (like the top), this would work.

I love this thing. I really don't understand the negative reviews it got. Honestly, if you are worried about a piece of frozen meat getting stuck to plastic, put it in between wax paper! That's what I did to keep the meat from sticking, because that's what frozen things do, they stick to things.

I like how compact it is and I always feel so high tech using it. I don't think the patties are all that big, who wants a tiny burger anyway? I like the fact it squashes them the way it does because I get an even burger instead of a weird shaped one that doesn't fill the bun.

Vent Register Filters

These filters do exactly what the package claims: "Helps trap dirt, dust, smoke, and pollen size particles." They are not HEPA filters and do not claim to remove all allergens or dust. But it definitely helps, and I figure it can't hurt, especially at a price this low around $.33/filter!

The filters are easy to install, just remove your vent cover and insert the filter from the bottom. They can be cut to achieve a good fit. After 90 days or so, they can be carefully removed and you will see lots of dust and particles trapped in the filter, on both sides. This system is as effective at keeping particles out of your HVAC system as it is for keeping the system from spreading dust through your home, so I leave them in year round, even though we do not need to use our system in the summer months, just to prevent dust and dirt from entering the ducts. Last summer we did some renovation work. After running the system in the winter after the project, I found that the vents captured a lot of sawdust that had found it's way into the HVAC system. I'm glad these filters were in place otherwise that sawdust would be spread around my home right now.

You can even reuse the filters, lowering cost of use to near $.15 or even lower just wash them thoroughly with water, hang dry, and replace.

I use these vent filters in my window vents, which I made from plastic floor registers, placed sideways into a window, then close the window down on top of the registers. I used a strip of foam insulation along the top of the registers to make a good seal. I put three of these vent filters into each open plastic register, and by placing them in the window I get ventilation and the three filters take out all pollens and dust. I change the filters about every three months. They have been very successful for getting fresh air into the house, without dust or allergens.

I purchased some of these last year in a store and installed them before the heat went on. I forgot about them until this winter. I pulled one out and couldn't believe how filthy it was. I couldn't find them in a store this year so I found them on Amazon. I noticed that in one room I forgot to put one in last year and the ceiling fan was very dusty. The fans in the other rooms barely needed cleaning, just a light dust, not even noticeable. As far as blocking air flow, as another user reported, I have not had that experience. I can feel the flow of heat quite well from the vents in the cathedral ceiling and I am a short person. I would recommend this item for cutting down on the dust that circulates in your home.

I bought this because all my wooden furniture around ducts gets covered in dust. I suspect the ductwork has never been cleaned, and I didn't want to pay to get that done since I was planning on moving soon. I have two registers in one room about 12ft apart (on the same duct), I installed it on one and left the other open I have furniture by both. After about a month of not dusting I could see the one without the filter collected about twice as much dust on the desk right below it. This filter didn't get rid of/capture all the dust, but it definitely made a difference. If you have clean ductwork and a good whole house filter in theory you shouldn't need this, but for those who dont it might work well. It was porus enough to where i didn't notice any great loss in air flow through the registers. Definitely a good product.

I had one of the originals...with the vaneer look. --Ugly yes, but it was actually very sturdy & well made. Unfortunately, it got lost in a move.

Then I purchased the newer one. It just wasn't as good of quality & the latch section cracked on me on the fourth or fifth use! Garbage!

Pay more $ on a Cuisenart or Delongi...you'll be happier.

This is a nice little sandwich maker. It's compartments are pretty small. You have to cut the crust off of your bread and cut it diagonally in order to fit the sandwich in the compartment. Also, you need to keep an eye on it, because the indicator light isn't realiable to let you know when the sandwich is done. I've had a couple of too cruchy edges on my sandwiches because of this. Otherwise, it makes a great sandwich! For the money it really is a pretty nice machine.

Libbey 4-1/2-Ounce Spice Jar with Lid, Set of 12

Cooking is one of the few hobbies that I still enjoy regularly. (If we didn't have to eat every day, I probably wouldn't find time for that, either.) Correspondingly, I maintain a large spice collection, and frequently hunt for new additions when I travel. Over time, my spice cabinet has become virtually unusable, owing both to the number of spices, and the various sizes/shapes/languages/etc. of the bottles, boxes, bags, and other containers.

For several years, I have been seeking a solution for organizing my spices that:

o Is uniform (for functional and aesthetic reasons)

o Fits in a drawer, rather than a cabinet or rack

o Travels well (I often cook with my own spices when visiting family)

o Is inert (e.g. glass, stainless; no plastic)

o Looks nice

I am happy to say that the Libbey Vibe spice jars meet all of the criteria above, and have been an excellent addition to my kitchen over the past few weeks.

Some additional features that I particularly like about these jars:

+ I can see through the glass lids when looking down on the spice drawer

+ The lids fit very tightly, for freshness and while traveling

+ The wide mouths accommodate standard measuring spoons

+ The wide base is very stable; I haven't tipped one yet

+ There are matching, larger jars (12, 27, 42, and 64 oz) for other dry goods storage

Also, either the jars are very strong, Amazon does a great packing job, or both. When one of my orders arrived, the outer box was so visibly crushed that the UPS driver actually asked if I wanted to open the box before he left. I said yes, assuming that I would find a box full of glass dust. Surprisingly, every jar and lid was intact. Kudos to Libbey and Amazon.

These jars are not perfect, however. They have one major flaw, and a few minor ones. Most importantly:

The jars are too small to hold a full, "standard" bottle of spices

By "standard" I mean the types of bottles that you find in a typical U.S. grocery store, such as for McCormick or Morton and Basset spices. For powders, I can whack the bottom of the Libbey jar about 20 times to compress the contents, then typically force the rest of a store-bought jar into it by carefully pouring and squashing with the lid. This is a REAL pain, and makes a real mess.

I have added a bunch of 12 oz Libbey Vibe jars to my collection (which also fit into a drawer) to handle bulk spices. Still, I should be able to buy a popular spice in the grocery store and just dump the contents into the Libbey jar without so much fuss. If the Libbey spice jars weer 33% larger, I'd give them 5 stars instead of 4.

Two more minor complaints:

As indicated by others, the plastic seals are a cheap addition to an otherwise quality product. I would pay extra for real silicone seals

The sticker on the bottom of each jar is paper, and the glue is very sticky; consequently, every single one that I tried to remove tore and I had 52 chances to perfect my technique. This is a one-time hassle, but still, it took me about 2 hours to peel, soak, and clean the jars when they first arrived.

Overall, after much searching, I can say that these are probably the best spice jars to be had, at least for my needs. With a few improvements, they'd be outstanding, but I can grudgingly live with their shortcomings. I would recommend these jars to others seeking a functional and stylish solution for organizing their spices (and the larger jars for other dry goods).

These little jars were chosen for the qualities below:

unobstructed visibility of contents from top and sides

glass construction (minimal/no scratches and odor transfer)

tight enough seal (lifting by lid only does not spill contents)

functionality (can store spices/sugar and oil/honey)

shape and size

moderate price when bought as a set

However, the modifications below would make them perfect:

stackability, or rubber-like "feet" for improved stability

true silicon seal rather than a plastic seal

availability in a darker colored glass for items sensitive to light

For several years I have been buying spices in bulk and reusing the jars the spices came in originally, which meant I had an assortment of brands, sizes, and shapes. After moving to a new place with a smaller kitchen, we decided it was time to organize the spices to take up less space. I didn't want jars that came with a spice rack, I just wanted nice looking jars. After reading reviews about many different products I found the Libby jars which had outstanding reviews overall and we decided to start with one set of 12. After buying the second set of 12 I am now ready to review them.

Things I like:

They arrive well packaged -almost wastefully packaged -so there is no chance of breakage during shipping. The jars are a nice weight and the lids seal tightly. The size is great and holds a nice amount of spice (or whatever you're storing), and with the wide mouth I can measure straight from the jar with measuring spoons. With a labeler (I bought Epson LabelWorks LW-400 Label Maker (C51CB70010)) they just plain look great -I can label both the spice and the tare weight so I can easily refill it with bulk spices. The wide base means I won't accidentally knock over the jar (though it might mean it won't fit on your spice rack).

Things other reviews have mentioned as cons that I disagree with:

The lid seal being too tight. -It's great to grab a jar by the lid and know it's not going to come off and the jar fall and break. Also, it's great knowing that my spices are sealed away from other scents. If you're having trouble opening a jar, try pulling the lid at an angle.

They don't hold a "full-size" spice bottle. -Another review mentioned this, but it depends on what you think is a "full-size" spice bottle. During my conversion I easily dumped many "full-size" McCormick spice bottles into the jars with no problem. Another consideration: spices lose their flavor quickly so try buying in bulk so you can pay less and have smaller quantities on hand.

The labels on the bottom don't come off. -As other reviewers have mentioned this can easily be solved with rubbing alcohol or, my fave, baking soda. For the baking soda method, soak all the jars in water mixed with baking soda. After a few minutes the labels will just slide off.

Overall, these are 5 star jars. I will be buying a third set of 12 to round out the spice collection, and maybe even some of the larger ones because I like their look.

I bought these to organize a spice cupboard that was out of control. I can't cook worth a darn, but I keep trying and trying, and trying, and trying. And all those recipes require spices. So, in an effort to produce something edible, I buy those spices and end up never using them again. I vowed to toss old (some as much as 10 years!) and rarely-if-ever-used spices, and get down to the essentials. I bought 24 of these jars from Crate & Barrel. After receiving them, I stood in my kitchen and ruthlessly threw spices into the garbage. Ground Galangal Root? NO MERCY! Spanish Anise Seeds? HIT THE ROAD! Chinese Five Spice? I HATED THE TASTE OF YOU FROM THE GET-GO!

I then filled these little jars with the spices I actually use, placing stickers on the bottoms indicating which spice was which. Alas! 24 bottles weren't enough! Luckily, Amazon came to the rescue with an additional 24. Cheaper than Crate & Barrel, free shipping, and no tax! End result? A spice cupboard that's a delight to look into. Added bonus: that skinny little cupboard is now so organized that I can prep my various slumgullions and culinary disasters more quickly than ever.

Cautions:

1. There are no perforated inner lids allowing you to daintily sprinkle spices. Personally, I don't care, but it may be a deal breaker for some of you;

2. As noted in other reviews, the bottles don't hold an entire "supermarket" bottle of spice. Again, I don't care because I won't use up an entire bottle of most spices before they need to be tossed anyway. For those spices I use a lot, I bought six of the 12-1/2 oz. Libbey bottles; and,

3. The price stickers on the bottom are the devil to get off.

I am very happy with the purchase. And, final comment, they're MADE IN AMERICA.

Barbecue Tool Set

Even though my boyfriend doesn't use everything, it's nice to have it just in case. And for the money, you can't beat the value! Original shipment was damaged upon arrival (gray casing) but had no problem returning it for another. Overall, very pleased with this set!

I wasn't expecting the highest quality set for the price, but I was excepting the pieces to at least fit into the box it came in. As soon as I opened the box, half the parts fell out (including the knife!) and most of them wouldn't lock into their placement in the box. Also, each of the pieces is very cheap and feels like they will break. And one thing they do not show you in the photos is the ridiculous packaging this set comes in. The box is almost humorous, like it's a joke set. I originally bought this as a gift and will be returning it instead because I am too embarrassed to give this to someone. Doesn't waste your money on this one.

The set was received as described. The handles on the skewers were not straight, which is even noticeable in the product image, but not a huge deal. The stain used to color the handles will run, so be sure to wash very well before using. I didn't wash the corn cob holders enough and they turned my hands red. Also, the corn holders are hard to get into the cob and, once in, slip out often. This is common with this style corn holder (flat "M" shape).

The handles are long enough for comfortable grilling. The wood grips stay cool and feel sturdy. It is difficult to get some of the tools back into the case, but with a little persistence, they will stay. I just tossed out the case and store the tools in my grill's tool drawer.

I have had this product for one whole summer. Overall, I am satisfied with this product. It is hard to find a decent grill set under $20 with this many tools, but you do get what you paid for. I would recommend for casual grilling, but if you are a grill fanatic, you may want to spend more for a higher quality set.

Handy Gourmet Pancake Batter Dispenser

This thing leaks so badly. I know this thing is cheap but just don't waste your money...

I had previously given this item a 1 star because it leaked horribly. After contacting their customer service they offered to take back the item and even paid for postage and would ship another replacement BUT only if I removed my initial negative review. I agreed to remove it and wait for the replacement but apparently I did not remove the review correctly or they didn't see the updated removal or whatever. They subsequently sent me what I perceived to be a stern email stating the "I had promised to remove this review in return for a replacement dispenser". That said, I asked for a refund because I did not like their tone in their emails nor their requirement to remove negative comments in order to obtain a replacement for what was a DEFECTIVE ITEM in the first place!! They should stand behind the items they sell regardless whether a customer posts negative information about it. I even offered to post positive feedback once I received the replacement and tested it to make sure the 2nd one worked. Guess that wasn't good enough and they would rather lose a customer over a $13 item. So be it..consider it done...

They said they have issued a refund and I'm glad I won't be doing business with them any further...

Had to add this comment--anyone who gives this item 5 stars either works for this company or is using a different brand because this thing did nothing but leak...when I say leak..I mean constant puddle of batter on my counter which is why I went back to the good old bowl with pouring lip and spatula...works better than this piece of junk!!! I'm starting to question all these "positive" reviews that I see on Amazon because when I've used various products that were inferior YET I see all these raves reviews it makes me question the integrity of these reviews...no way the exact same product worked differently...sorry, I just don't believe any of these 5 star reviews...the product simply doesn't warrant 5 stars to begin with..it's not that good. If the thing leaks..then it doesn't do what it promises....how can anyone gives this item a pass when it doesn't do what it was designed to do..HOLD BATTER!!

This product leaks and makes a big mess! I kept having to wipe up batter from the counter top due to a slow leak at the base/handle of the dispenser. I don't recommend this item!

After using the item maybe 2 times and falling in love the plastic tab that attaches to the metal piece to pull the bottom shut between each pancake disconnected. After contacting the company and receiving no help what so ever I am left with a broken product. Save your money and buy the expensive one first.

Got this for Christmas and it leaks everywhere! Impossible to use, no matter what viscosity the batter is. Considered returning but since the vendor's policy shows I have to pay shipping---too much bother for this price! Guess you get what you pay for, this is cheap and CHEAP! Do not buy!
