Brinkmann 812-3301-1 Professional Series Temperature Gauge
regards,
forrestI was very happy with the quality of this item. It doesn't fit in the hole in my grill-top, but I'm sure a hardware store has the accessories needed to make this happen. Very happy indeed!!

The description of the item says it fits in the Brinkmann SmokeN'Pit, but it does not. Beware if that is the model you possess. Also, it comes loose and not packaged, simply wrapped in bubble paper... why does a new item not have a Brinkmann official packaging?Read Best Reviews of Brinkmann 812-3301-1 Professional Series Temperature Gauge Here

Cuisinart CMW-200 1-1/5-Cubic-Foot Convection Microwave Oven with Grill
Buy Cuisinart CMW-200 1-1/5-Cubic-Foot Convection Microwave Oven with Grill Now
Great idea I went out and got frozen french fries.Tried no preheat convection and after 15 minutes they weren't done and cooked another 5 minutes.
Another batch I went with preheat and the temp at 425 as suggested and put the fries in the oven at the start of the preheat cycle. By the time it hit 425 the fries were done. I never did set the time. You are not allowed to set the time before the temp preheat is reached. At that rate if they are not quite done then you add more time through what they call kitchen time.
there's heat exhausting out the back that I wish would stay in the oven heating it up faster. However I don't know how convection ovens heat themselves.
Tried the idea of turning on the grill for 2 minutes then going to convection. It did not seem to speed things up any.
I am not unhappy. I've gotten three appliances off my counter and put the Cuisinart on top of the stove. Heat is an issue in the southwest so I have never used my gas pilot stove.
The microwave works exactly as I expected.
The grill has three settings. 100% grilling, 30% micro plus 70% grill, and 55% micro plus 45% grill. I haven't enjoyed steak at home for years so this I am really looking forward to. Fishsticks I'm going to try 30/70.
Roasting and baking have a fast setting which combines micro and convection, you can go straight convection too.
I would buy it again because the price is right, it microwaves great and grills. I never was an oven baker so few times I may preheat convection will be very seldom.
Right now I'm going to look for a rack utensil that I can use in both oven and microwave.
I'm sure after a learning curve that I will be preheat convection cooking and adding minutes after the oven acquires the set temp to finish my cooking.
Everything is possible.

We bought this microwave oven because it also has a convection oven. The oven takes a VERY long time to heat up.Example:
350 degrees takes 35 minutes
425 degrees took over an hour
In contrast my regular electric (full size) oven takes 8 minutes to reach 425
Our old Panasonic microwave/convection oven took 15 minutes to reach 425
This machine was supposed to be a time saver, but we hardly ever use the convection setting as it takes too long to warm up. We find we now have an overpriced microwave oven. We could have got a much larger microwave (without convection) for the price we paid for this.
My advice steer well clear of this machine unless you don't need the convection oven in which case you are better off getting a cheaper model.
I wish I had read the other reviews before I bought this machine.
The only good point is you can use the glass turntable on convection mode our old Panasonic required you swap out a metal turntable whenever you wanted to convection cook, which was a real pain having to store the other turntable. However, you are unlikely to use the convection mode unless you remember to heat the oven an hour before you actually use it. I presume all this heating time is wasteful too, so using the full size oven for much less warmup time may work out better value...
Want Cuisinart CMW-200 1-1/5-Cubic-Foot Convection Microwave Oven with Grill Discount?
We use this about every day, and it's done exactly what we want it to. I do tend to stick to only two or three settings, however. Standard microwave works as expected. There are some one touch buttons to cook popcorn, potato, fresh veg, frozen veg (and though I say one touch, each button will set to a particular amount (1C, 2, whatever) and then the microwave will operate for a set time based on what you set, not based on any kind of food sensing (as far as we can tell). So, for instance, if I just put in two cups of frozen veg, I'd have to press the frozen veg button two times, then press start, and it will microwave for 5 minutes. I might have to add time after the microwave is done. Also, if I decided that I wanted to add 30 seconds using the quick button, I can't while it's in this kind of auto program mode...so it's actually easier to press the 5 button once, and the microwave will quick start for 5 minutes, with the ability to add time 30 seconds at a time in the middle of cooking.I also use the convection feature quite frequently, for a variety of things I want more crispy than a microwave will do it. It helps to use the included wire rack to put the plate closer to the cooking element, for quicker cooking. There's a combo convection/microwave feature that works well too, but usually I just use the convection feature (with the food in the microwave while it's heating) to heat the microwave up to the maximum temp (I think it's 450), and then it only takes a minute or two of microwaving to finish up any extra heating.
I haven't tried baking cookies or cakes (and there is a cake button), but from the way "grilled" cheese or frozen corn dogs or cheese sticks have cooked for me, I think you could easily use this for that kind of baking.
We do have a good oven, but the microwave is a lot faster and easier to use. If you want to use the convection bit, definitely put the food in while the oven is pre-heating. It may take some trial and error to get your food exactly the way you want it, but there's no point (so far as I can tell) waiting for the oven to be heated first, and it might just take longer than even the standard oven would if you waited.

Planks are wasteful in my opinion. This is both an environmentally conscious option as well as allowing for a shorter cooking time. The fish comes out delicious and evenly cooked. I bought four pkgs as we cook with these wraps all of the time.We found a similar product at one of our local grocery stores the Fire & Flavor brand endorsed by Gena Knox and tried them to use with salmon steaks. They were easy to use and allowed us enough room to add garnishes as well as some fruits and vegetables to cook in and marinade with the salmon steaks. For some reason, our grocery store stopped carrying them and we couldn't find them again so we came to Amazon to fine them which wasn't a problem because you can find EVERYTHING on Amazon! However, while searching for them we found this brand and it seemed to be a comparable product at a little better value so we decided to give them a try. They work just as well and we get a few more sheets for a little less money so these are a great option for us. Will definitely re-purchase and would recommend to others. We used this to infuse a smoke flavor into tequila worked great. Then we grillede with them also great. Highly recommend!Saturday, April 5, 2014
Char-Griller 3001 Grillin' Pro 40,800-BTU Gas Grill
At times it was challenging to put together. The pictures and directions could've been more descriptive on which way things face when you put them together (ie: the legs). Plus the location of parts within the box. I had to find parts that I needed early in the installation that were wrapped up with things late in the installation?! Once you get it together it's pretty solid. It starts easily and heats up fast. For me in less than 5-10 min. on high the temperature gage was at 650 degrees (on a windy 70 degree day in Chicago). The grates are porcelain coated cast iron. That's a feature you want to look for in a grill. You'll see those on higher priced models. The grates have a side for 'Searing' and a side for 'Grilling'. They cleanup easily and give GREAT grill marks. Now mind you my last grill was a 12 year old 'Char-Broil' that was shot and I've only used this one twice. But from what I can tell (so far) unless you want to pay a ton for something better this is a great grill for the price.
Update: 07-27-09
It's still a great grill for the price. I have one thing I never liked and if you're coming from an older grill like me you should be aware of this. Older gas grills (5 or 10 years) had the burners right along the bottom of the grill base with a metal shield over the top. You then had 5 inches or so between the shield and the grilling grates. This would give you space for 'Lava Rock', 'Ceramic Brickets' and some wood chips if you choose. The rocks or bricks would catch grease and reduce flare ups. To keep the grill clean you change the rock out once a season or so. NONE OF THE NEW GRILLS (including the Char-Griller) are setup like this. They ALL have the burners and shields right below the grilling grates. And you have no room for anything below the burners. So you need to be sure to keep the bottom of the grill CLEAN and CLEAR of debris (drip trays too). As I stated before this grill heats fast and puts out a good flame. Well after cooking about 10 times or so I had some debris and an oily film on the bottom from cooking & basting things. Yep you guessed it, FIRE, FIRE! Luckily I caught it after just a couple minutes of cooking and shut it down and put everything out. I cleaned out the bottom turned it back on and it was fine. So be safe and keep it clean! After lots of research settled on this grill and at under $200, nothing compares. After three months of use, looks and works like new. The cast iron construction leads to even heat, the burners work well, there are trays on both sides (one is a side burner with a flat cover), and it does a great job of grilling.
The drip TRAY is easy to reach (as opposed to a hole that a can hangs under) and the barrel construction also lends to the even heat of the grill.
The smoker attachment is a nice idea for those who want the flexibility and convenience of a gas grill with the option for smoke/charcoal; although I have not used it I think I will be purchasing the attachment before next Thanksgiving (nothing like a smoked turkey on the grill).
Cons: Assembly is a little bit of work and is best accomplished with two people. It is not something you want to do in a hurry and while not easy, it wasn't an overwhelming challenge either. In other words, yes, you have to do a little bit of thinking and it really helped to have another person to verify understanding and help to hold pieces. If you feel you are mechanically challenged, could be frustrating, but don't be scared away. Assembly time for two people who don't do much if any mechanical work, was about 90 leisurely minutes.
With so many nice-looking but cheaply made grills with cheap parts out there, the Char-Griller stands out with it's simple efficient design and comparatively heavy parts.

If you are looking for a good gas grill and you are on a budget, then the $170 for this is probably a good buy. Frankly I don't see the need for $500, $800, $2000 grills that are mostly name buying or grill envy inducing. You buy a grill to cook food not to be backyard bling. If you one of those huge backyard million dollar mansion types, then your not reaidng this anyway and move on to you Weber's and such. For us down to earth people this will suffice.I've read alot of reviews saying that the directions are utterly useless and hard to understand. I don't know if Char-griller re-wrote the directions or what but I didn't find them difficult to follow. Maybe if you are the type that only looks at the pictures to assemble things, you might have a little prblems, are they are all in grey scale and not color, but even the picies are marked with stickers saying things like, "this side faces inside" or "this is the long wired burner tube". Sometime you might even feel alittle insulted that they tell you the burned tube has a longer wire attached because its some 4 inches longer and VERY obvious. But the directions have words besides pictures and they are quite clear on what to do and what pieces you need. Plus the screws/bolts/washers are very nicely packaged with sizes printed on both sides of the pack.
I'm not mechanically inclined by anymeans, but save your wallet some heartache and put it together yourself. all you need is one phillips head screw driver (maybe a pliers for when you attach the warming grate). But other than that its simple to assemble, eventhough it took just over two hours doing it by myself. But even the directions tell you that you need two people. Well you don't. The hardest part is getting the cart legs to stay put when your attaching the all and connecting them.
There was only one piece that I had to bend slightly to make it fit and that was the front panel. There was alittle too much bend in the top of the piece but once I bent it down about 10 degrees it fit perfectly. As for the rest of the grill, everything lined up perfectly and went together without any naughty words needing to be uttered.
This grill heats up very quickly, but then again I've never had a gas grill before so maybe everyone does, but I can get the temp to 600+ in around 5 minutes.
The one thing that I noticed is that there seems to be quite a bit of manufacturing oil residue. And it is real sticky when you putting the top and bottom grill barrels on. The directions say to run it for 15 minutes with the ild closed to get rid of it, but there is still quite a bit left. Maybe I just got an oil happy factory cutter, but I won't speculate on that.
The surface area is quite large for the over all size of the grill. Most grills seem to be wide and shallow where as this is quite deep and could be an optical illusion, but nice size for my family of four.
I'll update with more comments when I get a few meals put on this.
Over all I am very happy with the grill and my decision to assemble it myself.
The three piece grate system seems to stay in place well enough and should present a problem. They are also porcelain coated cast iron and should hold the heat nicely and be easy enough to clean. Another cleaning feature I like is the easy to reach drip pan. some people have written that it doesn't drain well, but I can't comment on that yet, but will in an update post later. The nice sized pull out pan seems large enough to not have to worry about it overflowing except in the large of cookouts doing multiple full loads.
I was very suprised at the weight of this grill for the cost. This looks and feels like a heavy charcoal grill (probably since Char-griller is more known for that type of grill). I liked it better than the shiny, "polish me every weekend" looking cookers out there and it lends itself to being rather manly in appearance as apposed to a lot of the fairy foo-foo stuff out there. The box weighed around 90 pounds and assembled with the tank on it it still sits around the same weight, so I don't think anyone short of tornado ally dwellers need worry about it blowing over, even with a cover on it.
I would have liked to be able to have those lava rocks or similar things in the bottom of the grill to help against flare ups from the food juices but there doesn't seem to be alot of room to put stuff like that in there as the heat shields are within a few inches of the grates. I remember a friends older grill have lots of room and the burners/heat shields were under all the lava rocks and it looked nice and it helped with flare-ups quite a bit, but it seems all the grills are made like this now. Hmm. I wonder why.
One thing I'd like to see changed is the thin side tray. Not so much because it feels flimsy, because it feels solid enough to hold stuff, but when you move the grill, I'd like to see something alittle more robust to grab hold of to move this 90+ pounds around with.
In closing, if you want a gas grill, don't have alot of money, want a masculine look, buy this. remember its the quality of the cook that makes a good meal and not spending alot of money on asthestics.
Anyway, I'm off to the store to buy some grilling food so I can update this later.

Originally bought from Lowes. Had no trouble assembly, but instructions were not good. Having assembled a few grills in the past sort of know how things went together. The grill cooked well and everything was easy to regulate etc. The sheet metal that formed the base was bent in one area but I made it work...this metal was very thin and it showed it when the full propane tank was put on it. The side burner almost useless; it seemed like the vertical distance between the burner and grate there was too much and even on high it was hard to get consistently hot enough. Had a lot of flare ups with this grill even with temp medium or below with burgers, etc(sometimes pretty serious ones,as in having to remove all food out of there as it was a raging inferno inside) and you have to pay VERY close attention to this. The grill is difficult to clean. the area under the burners is hard to get to and keep scraped out...the whole grill nearly burned up once because of a flame-up there, and the stuff doesn't drain out of there nearly as well as it should but will just pool there over time. After three years, the brackets holding the drip pan have rusted away and the brackets holding the flavorizing bars have rusted away and the flavorizers themselves are rusting away. this grill kept covered the entire time. the burners themselves have held up but look like they could be replaced easily by the standard tube burner replacement seen for 15 bucks or so at wally or HD. sadly, going to have to toss the grill because of the rust. It was covered, but I do live in a humid climate. no serious complaint, i did not pay much for this and did not expect to get very many years out of it. This grill lasted for 3 years under a stored covered patio, but wheeled outside to cook, but has to be retired due to severe rust....the flavorizers now just sit on the burners themselves(now making grill unusable) due to the brackets that once held them about an inch over the burners are gone from rust and the drip pan fell off due to rusting brackets too. I have considered drilling holes and putting in some stainless or brass nuts and bolts etc to try to serve as holders, but nah, the difficulty cleaning and maintaining under the burners and the serious flame-up problems I've had cooking burgers on this have made me tired of fooling with it and now am looking elsewhere. I will not buy another one.Wednesday, March 19, 2014

They don't say it, but the bun warmer makes the top very heavy. When I cooked a homemade burger for my husband it squashed it flat and he wouldn't eat it. And it turns out the bun warmer is not good for anything else I thought maybe I could keep other things warm on it but it says not to.Even though I wasn't thrilled with the idea of the bun warmer, I bought it anyway, because the reviews were very good.
It was very easy to clean.
I wouldn't call it family size except on the outside. It took up a large part of the counter.
My daughter likes flat burgers and I gave it to her. She was thrilled to get it.
So this Grill may be for you but it wasn't for me. If I had bought it at Walmart, I would have returned it.
I will get a different model without the bun warmer.Hubby loves it. He is a kitchen gadget fanatic :). It makes things so much easier. And very simple to clean up which is great for me also.

T-fal A113SC84 Family Cooking Nonstick Interior and Experior Oven Safe Dishwasher Safe 12-Piece Coo
I recently picked up a few new T-fal pieces and really like the new glass lids that are included with this one. Maybe I'm a nosy cook, but being able to see inside is a huge advantage.
The pans are are practical sizes, and the set gives you almost everything you need for a kitchen. The one pan this set is missing is a Saute or Chicken pan, but those are hard to find I had to buy mine separately. However, until I found one (T-fal, of course), I used the deeper pot.
The key to using T-fal is to make sure you never heat it on anything other than a medium flame. A higher temperature will cause the T-fal to burn and you will slowly erode its ability to be nonstick. Also, if you use a dishwasher, you will need to season it again after using it a few times. The dishwashing soap will also cause your exterior to lose its gloss, although it won't impact the nonstick nature.
Also, while it is possible to use metal implements on it, it can get scratched over time, so I recommend wood or plastic.I got these as a gift for myself and I am really enjoying them. I've only had them for a month, but I use them every day for everything from making crepes and pancakes to stew and steaming broccoli. They do fine in the dishwasher. And heat up nicely on the stove (haven't tried them in the oven). I am quite enjoying this set.I've had these pots and pans for a month now. The non-stick is great. I use them every day. Would buy againI love all of these! the handles are securely attached, the non stick is actually non stick. They are really just great and i am elated that i found them on sale.I have always liked T-Fal. This set is lighter than what I'm used to. But still nice. Cooks well, even. Easy to clean.

George Foreman Champ Grill with Bun Warmer
I was so wrong.
The George Foreman Grill delivers everything it promises, and then some. It cooks foods fast, with relatively low mess, and the taste is wonderful. The heat sears the outside, creating those delicious, carmelized grill marks. But the cooking is so quick, the insides don't get dried out or tough. And greasier meats, like hamburger or sausage, really do drain off, just as George promises (the only negative comment I would make is about the design of the grease-trapping trays, which are not built-in, but separate pieces; if positioned wrong, you can drain grease onto the counter). I cook frozen salmon on mine--its out of this world, and better than what most restaurants serve.
The convenience of the grill is the big selling point for me. Small, easy-to-clean, and easily stored in a cabinet, it comes out only when I need it (though it is attractive enough to sit next to the toaster or coffee maker in larger kitchens). It really is portable; one of my co-workers brings his to the office to grill hot dogs for lunch.
The addition of the colored lids only increases the appeal of the George Foreman Grill. Now, color-coding with the rest of the kitchen is a snap. What was already a great product is now even better.

This is an excellent grill. I have heated up burgers, hot dogs and also toasted grill cheese sandwiches. This item is non stick. Only really holds 2 burgers of a good size, will not hold 4. No matter just takes an extra couple of minutes. Bun warmer is good, no fun eating a hot burger on an ice cold bun (teeth will chatter !). I like this grill, does not occupy to much space on kitchen counter, easy to clean and works!
In short this item would replace a sandwich maker AND acts as a griller. Excellent as a single buy (good price) to fit both tasks (sandwich maker and grill for heating burgers, hot dogs. (...)

This little grill will fit a NY strip steak and make it medium rear in seven minutes (three minutes preheating and four minutes of actual grilling). Steaks come out perfect with no mess or smoke. If you want another steak, just wipe the surface with the paper towel. In four minutes you will have another juicy steak. You can also fit two small hamburgers, but the bun warmer will take only one bun, so you are better off with one jumbo hamburger. The only thing that is missing is a timer. I use Pyrex digital probe thermometer (also offered on Amazon) to monitor temperature inside the meet and I always get a perfect steak or hamburger. I stick the probe inside the steak and place readout on the table in front of me, hamburger is done when the temperature reaches 160F. For medium steak it is 180F. Of course, this is not the same as grilling on the open fire grill but for quick and tasty meal I can't find anything better. You can also grill fish, chicken, bacon, and vegetables with great results.Want George Foreman Champ Grill with Bun Warmer Discount?
I doubt this is what george foreman (well maybe his agent) intended for this gadgets but as 12 yr. vegetarian when my dad brought home 2 I went gaga (one in orange, one in blue.) of course the manual says nothing about cooking fake bacon, fake chik nuggets, grill cheese, etc. but if we're cooking and it'll fit it goes in. Somehow this thing has turned me into a, ahem, "quasi-chef"... I can't tell you how burgers cook on it, but if you want a veggie burger, yum!there are (aren't there always) 2.5 slightly problematic features that i'm surprised haven't been fixed yet.....
the 'bun warmer' is tiny, i dont see how you could fit one in there, and the latch is poorly designed... hard to grip and breaks off easily. which leads to the second problem.
while your trying to close the latch or just the "grill" you're apt to clutch it like snapping it shut, with your thumb on the latch and your forefinger underneath. DON'T! you'll burn yourself. badly. (trust me on this). it'll probably happen more then once if you dont ignore the latch. the metal heats up too quickly on the exterior and really should be coated in something that disapates heat. and when you open the grill, if the latch isn't closed the plastic hood will fall back upon the table.
and lastly, it's quite hard to clean because nothing comes off. basically you've got to just wipe it down with a damp cloth.
Overall there's nothing i've seen for this price that comes close. try a veggie frank, a slice of fake bacon, maybe a portabello mushroom or two...
