GE WB31K10217 Griddle Assembly for Range

We purchased this griddle as a replacement for our worn out, original, 7 year old GE stove top. The original griddle was peeling up and flaking off, sometimes into our food. We purchased this one from Amazon for about 75% of the price that GE wanted.

When we received this replacement, we noticed a difference in color and only a slight difference in texture. Some of that had to do with the previous griddle's usage. The replacement's color is more gray than black, which is no big deal for us, because it's not so gray that it looks out of place against the other black stove top pieces.

Overall, this is a high quality griddle and has been a great replacement. We've had it for several months now and use it about 3 times a week. We have no complaints. Everything cooks great on it and we haven't noticed any flaws at all.

This griddle is awesome! We use it all the time for grilled sandwiches, to toast bread or buns on the inside...I am not sure how we lived without it.

It had been awhile since we had cleaned the grill. I avoid the job since it's messy and you worry about the chemicals you're inhaling from some of the other products. You do have to let this product soak in and sit for a few minutes but it works. I've used it in the oven and was pleased.

My original order was in early Feb. I returned it because my mail man said it was leaking. Now, this order is leaking. I do not know if this is the same container or not. I really cannot rate the product only the poor customer service. I have received other liquid products via mail with no problem with them leaking.

I also have the Blue Ember iQue grill, which proved to be problematic when sourcing a cover for its 80" width. This cover fits perfectly, and has a soft interior lining. It's also a lot darker than the icky light green the product image shows, making it look far nicer in my opinion.

I recently purchased the Blue Ember iQue grill (love it) and was having a horrible time finding a cover large enough (the grill is 80 inches wide) without paying a small fortune. I brought a Blue Ember grill from Costco, which is huge and oversized. A grill cover was not included, so Mr. Bar-B-Q's grill cover was the only one I could find. Out of the box, it's dark green. I thought that I had read another review that said that it was dark enough to be nearly black. Nope, it's dark forest green. The inside liner is made from nylon/cotton and tend to catch on any sharp or spikey objects (grill brush). It is huge and it worked, but ended up drapping on to the floor. The velcros didn't really help the length. Lastly, I noticed last weekend that one side of the cover was tattered up. Not sure what happened, but not exactly durable.

Well made it seems, I have only had it for 3-4 months, but it is great for the price. In East Texas, the weather allows year long grilling and I do not like to store the grill in the garage and take up my shelving space and mess up my garage organization. I use it primarily as a "Mongolian hot pot". It heats evenly and fast with light off to indicate the set temperature has reached. It then maintains at the temperature you set. The capacity of this pot is well suited for four to six people. I also did some grill on it. It works as well. At beginning, I was a little concerned about the "Nonstick cooking surface". Since it is very easy to clean, you do not need to apply too much force on the surface. After eight months use, "Nonstick cooking surface" holds well. I do not see any sigh of scratch or wore out.

I am single and like a good T-bone or strip steak once and a while, but firing up the outside barbecue has become a real pain when all I want is one steak.

This is the answer; cooked two strip steaks and one boneless pork chop on it after I seasoned the grill (per instructions) with Pam, and they were great. Both the dog and I enjoyed them.

When I fist test started it, I turned it on high and gave it a few seconds and Wow!

this baby heats up fast and cooks as fast as a gas barbecue.

I cleaned the pan up as I do any non stick appliance (soak, brush and dish rag clean) as any rough pads or metal objects will do the surface in, even setting it in a metal wire dry rack.

Great buy.

Addendum:

I have purchased another pot as backup just in case the one I am using wears out; this is something I do with most small appliances I really like.

A note: because this is a pot grill, you can add water or beer, or whatever to moisten up the meat you are cooking,

something you cannot do to an outside grill. After you have seared and mostly cooked the meat, bring down the heat to just inside the 'WARMING' (about at the 'I')and let it steam for a while on both sides with your liquid added.

I grilled two chicken cutlets in the Super Pot last night and they came out perfect (375 degrees for 7 minutes, flipping once). Clean-up was painless; the pot pops out of the plastic housing for cleaning, although the manual says the whole thing is immersible. The two cutlets pretty much filled the grill, so it might be too small for more than two people. Now that it's too hot to grill outdoors, I'll be using the Super Pot more often.

Update: Burgers (80 percent lean) turned out great on the grill, too. Seasoned with McCormick's Montreal steak seasoning mix. Grilled at 375 degrees for about 12 minutes.

The 6 in 1 super pot is a great item to have in your kitchen. The down side,the item arrived broken. I contacted Aroma and Aroma had me ship it back to them. i bought this for sukiyaki and was concerned with the raised "grill" but am SO thankful that i got this despite my reservations. not only is it great for sukiyaki, but other meats as well. i use this to grill chix, steaks and hambugers, sukiyaki, all meat. the size is perfect for a family of four (four hamburgers, four chix breast, 3 large New York Strips/T-Bone). love it! preheats super fast and the temp is even and changes (cools) with a turn of the dial very important for sukiyaki. the char is great. clean up is super easy the entire "pan" pops out. i stopped using my beloved cast iron skillet and other 'cooking' gadgets. if your looking for a table top this is THE one.

I contacted Koolatron and they sent replacement plates after I emailed them a copy of my receipt. However the replacement plates peeled again after a couple uses. Then the grand finale, THE MACHINE DIED ONE YEAR AFTER PURCHASE. Piece of junk.

As has been mentioned in a previous review, the non-stick coating flakes off after a few uses. I was able to get replacements from the manufacturer, but the same thing happened with the replacements. After a few uses, the poor quality of the non-stick coating fails and makes this appliace a total waste of money and time.

This product fails to heat in the promised time. Pancakes and waffles don't brown. When I tried to make a grilled cheese sandwich, the cheese melted before the bread browned. The sandwiches were soggy and I'm still trying to get the cheese off the appliance. Moreover, the instructions are inadequate. There are no heat controls. Everything cooks at the same fairly low heat. I found this thing useless.

I saw this product on QVC and was intrigued by the possibilties. The model on QVC turned out to be only 1500 watts with less cooking real estate for the same $99.00 I paid on Amazon.

The package was delivered quicker than I had anticipated so no complaints from me. The box was intact and didn't look like it had been abused during shipping.

The Griddler was easy to assemble and as advertised most of the parts are dishwasher safe. After running the parts through the dishwasher, we used it for the first time this evening.

In the lower area, I placed 6 skewers of beef shish-ka-bobs and on the upper grill, grilled a steak. The shish-ka-bobs were cooked to perfection in about 20 minutes. The veggies were cooked but still had a little "crunch" while the meat was very tender and cooked to medium.

The grill imparts some attractive "grill" marks on the steak, and the steak was cooked evenly. Even though the steak had been rubbed down with some olive oil and other seasonings, there wasn't any smoke. The cooking task was completed in about 10 minutes for medium. Unfortunately meat grilled on an indoor electric grill doesn't taste the same as meat grilled on an outdoor gas grill. That's probably because the dripping meat juices can't be vaporized on an indoor grill like they are on an outdoor gas grill. Those vapors help flavor the meat further. I expected as much so I didn't take off any stars.

Give the Griddler ample time to cool down before attempting to clean. It is very easy to clean. As stated before most of the parts are dishwasher safe. The grill plate was particularly easy to rinse and wipe off before putting it into the dishwasher. Crusted cooking residue didn't stick and could be removed with your fingers under a litte running water.

Something everyone should be aware of is the Griddler puts out a lot of heat. It will get hot. Very hot. Families with kids need to understand that when the lower cooking area is being used, the upper cooking grill/griddle is just as hot. Keep young kids away and be careful that nothing gets placed on the upper cooking area (except food to be cooked) while the unit is in use. I used the Griddler on the stove where the kids know to stay away.

Overall this is an easy product to recommend. While I prefer the taste of meat grilled from a gas grill, the Griddler will work fine when outside temperatures and inclement weather dictate using the indoor grill. Finally this unit is not small and will take up some room if you're going to store it. But the Griddler is attractive enough to leave out and its functional enough that it should be used often.

UPDATE: We used the Griddler rather extensively over the weekend. Hotdogs were cooked on the lower level while the buns were toasted on the upper cooking area. The dogs were cooked perfect. Later we sauteed a large amount of onions and mushrooms on the griddle. Again the results were perfect, and we could lower the heat to keep the onions and shroons warm while other items were prepared. Cleanup was very easy and quick.

This grill is great!! It is big enough to cook a whole meal on it, the skewers are so easy to use and it maintains the heat perfectly.

Clean up using all the parts takes just minutes, no scrubbing, and the booklet that comes with it explains the workings perfectly along with many menus.

I would recommend this to everyone who wants easy cooking with great flavors!

Just an fyi for those who have purchased this grill so they will keep an eye on it while using. I read all the good reviews on this product so I felt reasonably sure this would be a good safe product for me to use at our lake house for hotdogs for the grand kids. I used it the summer of 2011 approximately 10 times with no problems. Then this week, May 14, 2012 we went to the lake house for a few days. The second time we used the grill it caught on fire. The flames only went about 6 inches high so I was able to turn the unit off and the flames subsided. After cooling, I lifted the grill plate and saw that the heating element had split and separated into 2 pieces.

I read reviews on this griddler and thought it would solve some issues I have in my kitchen... like not having enough room for all the small appliances I want to have. So far I have really been disappointed with this Cuisinart product! It's slow and seems underpowered even though it is 1700 watts. The best thing I've managed to make on it so far is pancakes and they can be made almost anywhere. I tried link sausages on the rollers and they barely got done in about 20 minutes. Yesterday I tried the skewers for some peppers, onions, and potatoes (already boiled the potatoes somewhat) and they took way too long. Meat on the skewers barely got past the raw state. I did not have it overcrowded because you can only put half the skewers on at a time because there isn't enough room. It looks nice and does clean up easily but in my opinion it is too slow and even though it popped a breaker on a heavy duty surge suppressor power supply I'd plugged it in to, seems way too underpowered. A skillet or two and my stove top can do a better job.

They have made bacon on it for BLT's and quesadillas. While it does not have a drip pan, it does have a shallow lip around the bottom and my husband has successfully grilled burgers on it.

It is very easy to clean and store.

I recently purchased this Breville sandwich press as my second one. I had purchased the earlier model SG820XL in 2006 and it is still operating flawlessly, having been used about 20-30 times per year, over the 5 years.

Knowing that, eventually favorite tools can break or malfunction, I did not want to risk not having a sandwich press with flat plates. For a more detailed review on grooved plates versus flat plates, see two of my 2006 reviews...one for the DeLonghi grooved grill versus a companion review of the Breville flat plate grill. I had purchased the Delonghi first and was unsatisfied with grooved plates for my intended purpose of use and returned it for the much more satisfactory flat plate Breville. And I can say from much experience, that the Breville flat plate grill is at the top of the food chain, in performance and build quality (after 5 years of constant use).

And it is much more versatile than a grooved plate panninni press, since you can use it for everything from toasted sandwiches (providing a perfectly browned crust and thoroughly "heated through" ingredients), to hamburger patties, quesadillas, pancakes, and reheating pizza slices (placing cold pizza slices on the bottom plate, crisps the crust back to original consistency while using the stair step locker on the side to adjust the top plate to "hover" at various clearances, just above the pizza surface, to radiate heat to the top side ingredients from above, without touching, makes for a great "leftovers" result).

There is no temperature control because one is not needed. This unit is "set" to be very forgiving, so there is virtually no risk of burning a sandwich. However, to provide consistent browning, I do open the lid and flip sandwiches in mid stream to keep the browning consistent. But be sure to use only plastic spatulas on the non stick surface. Most everything will cook in this unit within 5-7 minutes (including hamburger patties which benefit from being cooked on both sides at the same time). If you do hamburger patties, be sure to use lean (90/10 or 95/15), because 85/15 or 80/20 usually has so much grease shed that you may end up making more of a mess, since the unit has somewhat limited capacity for retaining a lot of juice and fat run-off. There is a raised lip around the perimeter to contain this but again, it is somewhat limited and bears experimentation and watching. But realize that is not the primary intended use for this unit so that is not a factor to conside at all in the purchase for use. Another "not intended for use" is bacon. I love being able to cook bacon "flattened out" by the press. Simple and easy, however, don't put too many slices in at one time because there is a lot of grease shed and may overflow the lip. So experiment with a few slices of your favorite and then add as many as you think you can get away with, until you get to the magic number of maximum it can handle without overflow.

In the locked position, this unit will sit upright, taking up very little counter space or cabinet space. And it is a very handsome piece of chrome equipment if you care to leave it out as kitchen decor on the countertop.

Cleanup is a snap. I usually let the unit cool down in the open position for 3-4 minutes after removal of ingredients and then take a paper towel to both the top plate and bottom plate while they are both still fairly warm. This prevents ingredients from having time to cool down and get dried onto the plates. You can then do a quick wipe down with either wet rag with soap and water, to be rinsed, or a clorox wipe, rinse and dry.

You will find this to become an indispensible kitchen tool I would be lost without mine since it makes such quick work of many things that might normally find me dragging out the skillet and firing up the stove. Enjoy.

I did an extensive amount of research and waited several years to purchase a good Panini press. I wanted a bigger surface area in order to make more than two sandwiches at once. I also wanted a flat grill so as to have even cooking and easy clean up. All I can say is... happiness does indeed come to those who wait! OMG, I use this once a day and sometimes twice. Not only is it great for Panini sandwiches, I also do eggs, bacon, sausage on it, grill shrimp on skewers, hamburgers, stir fry vegetables, chicken breasts, etc. The graduated heights for the lid make it possible to do any number of things. Clean up is a piece of cake because with a touch of cooking spray nothing will stick. I especially like the flexibility of the larger size cooking area. The onlty negative is that it takes a little jimmying to adjust the lid to fit flat sometimes, but I have learned to live with it. Everything else is right on.

I'm absolutely in love with this press, Very well made, no cheap parts here. This is my first panini press so I can't compare it any other brands. I do use it 3-5 times a week with no problems. This appliance is very easy to use. The flat surfaces of this panini press ensure even toasting and cooking. There are no ridges on the cooking surfaces which makes it a snap to clean.

Once you lock to panini press plates together, it is very easy to store this unit in an upright position. There are four small feet on the end of this device (across from the main handle) that you can use to store in an upright postion. I don't have a great amount of counter space in my kitchen. Being able to store it in this manner is a big plus if you don't have much counter space.

This panini press has been a very big hit with my family.

You get what you see here, but the main difference is build quality. The smartest part to this injector is the way the injecting plunger is held in by the top red piece which is threaded on this prevents your marinade from shooting out the top of you use a little too much pressure while injecting into the meat. Use the cheap injectors that comes with the cajun marinade and you'll see what I mean.

This review does not reflect performance of the unit but design only, which is to say that whoever designed it went out of his way to make the worst unit he could. 1st, The fan, for instance, does not oscillate. You can move the grill to point right, left, or in the center, but it will not oscillate. 2nd, the grill through which the air blows only points upward. You can vary the angle so it points less upward or more upward, but it will not point straight forward or down. 3rd, although the water collector holds a lot of water, in order to drain the unit, you are given a very shallow pan, meaning that when the internal collector is full, it would take several trips to empty it. 4th, the drainage point is at nearly floor level. This means that it is lower that even the very shallow drain pan they supply! Are we supposed to pick the unit up and tilt it to drain it? It does weight 81 lbs. 5th, because of the 4th problem, the best solution is to raise the unit and use the hose for continuous drainage, which brings us to the 2nd problem: the air only blows upward, and since the unit is raised, you cannot get direct air if you are lying down or sitting comfortably. There are other portable units on the market which have none of these problems. They oscillate, the grill can point up, down, or level, and water drains into a container that can be easily removed and emptied. I wish someone had written this before I blew the money on this model!
