GE WB31K10217 Griddle Assembly for Range

We purchased this griddle as a replacement for our worn out, original, 7 year old GE stove top. The original griddle was peeling up and flaking off, sometimes into our food. We purchased this one from Amazon for about 75% of the price that GE wanted.

When we received this replacement, we noticed a difference in color and only a slight difference in texture. Some of that had to do with the previous griddle's usage. The replacement's color is more gray than black, which is no big deal for us, because it's not so gray that it looks out of place against the other black stove top pieces.

Overall, this is a high quality griddle and has been a great replacement. We've had it for several months now and use it about 3 times a week. We have no complaints. Everything cooks great on it and we haven't noticed any flaws at all.

This griddle is awesome! We use it all the time for grilled sandwiches, to toast bread or buns on the inside...I am not sure how we lived without it.

West Bend 6111 Heart Smart Indoor Grill, Black

I have used this grill with great pleasure. It's large enough to hold enough food for 4 servings, plus the griddle comes in handy for toasting buns and such. I haven't had it smoke at all. It grills just like outdoors, including the grill marks. And I can have something grilled and on the table fast. No one has to go out on the deck to cook. It's all done on the countertop. I can't say enough good things about this grill. Cleanup is easy and fast, two of my favorite words in the kitchen. I did a lot of research and reading reviews before making this purchase. I believe I found the best of the indoor grills out there.

I returned the Delonghi BG24 to buy this as they are almost identical but this one is a much better price. As a matter of fact, they are so similar they are probably manufactured by the same company.

There are only 2 differences:

* this one includes a skillet area on the grill plate, so smaller grilling area but you have a side part to grill onions or bacon for your burgers... the drip pan, base and lid are exactly the same

* this one states the grill piece is dishwasher safe, though the grill piece on the BG24 is almost the same, they state it is not dishwasher safe probably is though

It probably uses a lot of electricity, and does not have a true BBQ taste but it works well. I scrub the gril with a teflon safe sponge while on the base with drip pan still in place and then stick it in the diswasher. I don't even put the drip pan in diswasher b/c it is so easy to clean my hand , especially when coated with water.

This is a pretty big unit I'd actually prefer something smaller as I live by myself in a small nyc apt.

This grill is wonderful. With the glass lid, you place water in the pan below the grill and it keep meats and vegetables moist. There is no smoking on any of the items that I have cook. Heat up time is quick and clean up is easy. It has been so hot lately to grill outside, this is the next best thing. Wonderful product and I would purchase it again.

I bought this grill used off Amazon. I had been looking for some way to grill inside away from the stove. As an apartment dweller, I haven't had a real outside 'grill' area in a long time and I missed the taste a grill adds to hamburgers and hot dogs, not to mention the ease of grilling a steak. So I bought this one.

The best points of this grill is that you can put everything except the plastic stand in the dishwasher! So clean up is outstanding! You plug it all in like an electric fry pan, set the tempurature and when the light go off the food goes on. You get the lovely grill marks, the spaces on the grill allow the 'fat' to fall through but aren't wide enough to loose a hotdog (as on an outside grill). I have cooked hot dogs, hamburgers, Chicken, steaks, bacon and eggs (there is a flat area on one side). So far it has been a joy. It held a whole cut up chicken at one time!

The only downs are storage, I am in a small apartment and I have had to dedicate a portion of my counter to this appliance, but I end up using it a lot more than I would if I had a place to put it away. And the lid is almost flat. When I grill anything with hieght,like say BBQ chicken, the lid rests on the meat at an angle. I have tried tenting with foil but you loose the ability to see the food grilling.

I haven't tried any other indoor grills, other than the george foreman stuff and I like this west bend so much more than any of those!

After reading the many raving reviews, I was pumped up over the purchase of this grill. I'm pretty much a carnivore and eat a lot of meat. I recently bought a West Bend rotisserie oven and it works great, and I've been using it a lot, so I went with the West Bend brand again.

But I just returned the second unit (I returned the first one for an exchange) after a miserable experience of 50 minutes on High with a couple of brats, and they weren't very well done. Forget about ever searing a steak, or even fast cooking it at medium high. Maybe I got 2 defective units in a row, but I'm done with this West Bend 'grill'. Those that like a nice hot grill be forewarned.

Man Law 5-Piece BBQ Wood Handle Tool Set

These are some man-size, heavy-duty grill tools. So big that I'm still trying to figure out how and where to store them. My husband liked them as his father's day gift. Contrary to my expectations, he thought the basting brush was useless and would have preferred a grill brush (grill cleaning brush). On the other hand, he was very satisfied with the tongs--he opined that locking tongs are for sissies and amateurs. Sigh. Men! Who can figure them out.

I was fairly disappointed by the dirty (dusty, gritty), shopworn (torn, crumpled, dented) product packaging. The tools were secured to their cardboard package with twist ties, and several of these were missing. I guessed that the package had been purchased before, not only because of the missing ties but because the package was taped together with packing tape.

To compound the problem, the outer amazon box had been poorly packed. The tools came in a far-too-big box with just a few folds of brown paper as cushioning. I have received other, much less expensive items from Amazon (health bars or face cream) packed quite securely with long loops of inflated bags as cushioning. It was weird to receive these heavy items sliding around in a big box. It made the box hard to handle and may have been at least part of the reason why the packaging looked so beat up. The tools themselves were not damaged. I wouldn't have cared quite as much if the purchase hadn't been intended as a gift. :-/

this skillet is the 2nd one I have owned. I guess I really like it! If i abuse this one like I did the last one, I will have to get another one in about 5 years. I am very hard on skillets for some reason.

GE Part Number WB02X10776 CHARCOAL FILTER

This is a good quality filter and fits perfectly in my GE microwave.

However, it didn't resolve an odor issue at the time due to the poor design of the microwave itself. There are 2 airflow passages in the top of the microwave. Only one of the passages is setup for installing a filter. The filter will not fit into the second passage, so half of the air blowing through the top vent was unfiltered and contained the odor.

Surprised at GE for the poor microwave design.

Wrong part, prohibitally expensive to send back. Just swallowed the cost and said oh well. That's the way it goes sometimes.

I bought the top 6 reviewed grill presses on Amazon.com, and used them for several months in a rigorous comparison in my kitchen. This one ranks fifthdon't buy it. The products I compared were:

My new fondue set recommends the Swissmar 3-once tins of gel fuel, but when I ordered them from a very good company at Amazon, the tins opened up in the mail and spread all over the box. I contacted the company and they were very nice and resent the tins at no cost to me. Those opened up in the mail too. Between the two boxes I scraped up enough fuel for my party. I kept one of the tins and bought this bottle of fuel and it didn't break in the mail. I will be ordering this bottle from now on.

I have never had a fondue party before, and so when I realized I needed fondue fuel, I did my research. This gel was the highest praised because of its refilling easy and long lasting flame. So I bought it and to my joy and relief it worked beautifully. I only had to use about a 1/4 a cup of gel per pot of fondue. And so by the end of the party I still had half a bottle left over. This is defiantly long lasting and doesn't smell like a chemical fire or alcohol fire. And it has a very clean flame and doesn't smoke up the room. Though I would suggest opening a window or have the fondue party outside, because it does throw off some heat.

When I was researching fondue pots and accessories for a gift for my wife, I did a lot of research. What I found was that I didn't want an electric one, but a traditional one. I also thought that sterno cans were still the way to go. I was wrong, apparently.

We started off with one Le Creuset pot and are since converted so we bought this entire set. We use one or more of these everyday and do feel they contribute to the quality of the cooking. These pots are designed to give a very even heat and will last a long time but care instructions must be followed.

The clean up is fairly easy tooif there is any sticky residue in the pot we just soak it overnight with some detergent and it comes right off the next morning.

Hello!

You'd think that a fan is SO simple, that there should NEVER be anything wrong with it right out the box.

That's what any normal person would think, but that isn't correct.

I purchased 2 new Holmes HABF20 20-Inch Box Fans.

I took out the first new fan, plugged it in, and turned it on. It made the most horrible noise, which went away after a bit. I went to change the speed, and the speed control FELL OFF, right inside of the fan! The blades immediately started to smack into it and the wiring with a horrible noise (probably the same horrible noise as before.) Since I could no longer get to the control to turn it off, my wife and I had to scramble, to unplug the thing.

I took out the second new fan, plugged it in, and turned it on. I went to change the speed, and the speed control FELL OFF, right inside of the fan, on the SECOND fan, too!

I couldn't believe it!

After careful examination, I determined that the fans are manufactured wrong. The snap-in mount, that was SUPPOSED to hold the speed control to the grill, was designed wrong. It did NOT hold the speed control to the grill properly, and the slightest, smallest force (such as operating the speed control in a completely normal fashion), would cause the knob to fall off, and the speed control to fall into the fan case. No matter HOW many times I would carefully and correctly snap the speed control back into the hole on the grill, it would simply fall out again with the slightest pressure.

Returning the fan for a replacement wouldn't do any good, as ALL of at least this batch of fans (how many hundreds of thousands, would this be?) are manufactured WRONG. Replacing the part would do no good, as ALL the replacements would have the same manufacturing defect.

Secondly, one of the screws that was supposed to hold the grill on was missing, causing the plastic grill to flap open. (In opening up the case to check out the other problems, I found the screw in a blob of plastic goo designed to hold the wires in place.)

Thirdly, when I went to screw in the missing screw, I was able to screw in the screw again, ONLY with loosening ALL the screws that held that grill in place, as the matching holes in the metal case had been drilled slightly OFF. However, I was finally able to get them all in.

Fourthly, the top of one of the fans was bashed in. (Remember, this fan was taken out of a new, still sealed and undamaged box, so I can only conclude that this damage happened in the factory.)

Fifthly, while the outside of the box proudly proclaims: "Made In America", in reality, the motor is manufactured in China. I suppose it should say "Assembled In America By Incompetent, Bungling Clowns". It makes me ashamed for America.

My solution?

It took me FAR LESS time to just re-engineer the fans (less than 10 minutes), than it would have to return them. I re-engineered the speed control mount so that it worked properly, and held the speed control firmly to the grill (something that their incompetent engineer apparently could not do, presumably with the most sophisticated computer design aids currently available). All I had to do, was to use thin plastic shims between the "snaps" and the main body of the mount, so that the snaps on the mount "snapped" into the mounting hole properly, and held in the speed control firmly in place. (They have been making mounts like this since at LEAST the 1930's, so this is NOT new, untried technology.)

Holmes management should be DEEPLY ASHAMED of themselves for this debacle.

Unless you are willing to re-engineer these fans yourself, as I did, STAY FAR AWAY from them, they are VERY DANGEROUS!

If the speed control fell into the case when you were away from the fan (which easily could happen), leaving the fan blades to smash into the wires and speed control thousands of times, it could leave broken and/or exposed "LIVE" 120 volt wires touching the metal case or hanging out of the case, or maybe blow your breaker, or even possibly set your house on FIRE by throwing off sparks!

Holmes should recall these defective units, and refund everyone's money. (Not the first time Holmes has had to recall dangerous, defectively designed items.)

Easy review for this product. This fan moves a lot of air, it is very light weight and it is easy to clean (just remove front grill to access blade). It's also the cheapest fan I've seen online or in store (I love Amazon, but found this fan for $ at Best Buy ). It's a pretty quiet fan on the first 2 settings, but somewhat loud on the highest; which really isn't a problem for me, since it moves a lot of air on that setting. The only gripe I would make if forced to make one would be the small handle which is on the back of the fan below where normal handles usually are on box fans. Overall, it is a great box fan not only for the money, but for all your cooling needs.

Great fan. Three speeds, all seem on par. I read the complaints about the knob coming off; I haven't experienced this problem. Also saw complaints about how noisy it is. it does make noise, it is, after all, forcing air about lol. i don't find the noise it creates at all unreasonable or uncomfortable.

All in all, a good product at a good price.

Keep it simple, stupid. That is the motto this fan should have. Cord plugs into back of motor directly. Controls down there with the motor. No goofy knobs on top to interfere with your window sash when pulled down against the top of the fan. Just pure simplicity. What a novel idea. Kinda like the old days. I like it. Works great. Quiet. Plenty of air flow and the price. Well, the price is the lowest I could find anywhere including my local 'discount' department store. You know those stores. They have a big W or K in the name. You can't go wrong with this fan. And if you happen to get a bad one after being banged around in the shippers truck for days remember that can happen to any brand. And all ya gotta do is contact Amazon for a replacement. Just plain simple, huh?

BergHOFF Earthchef Acadian 12-Piece Cookware Set

First of all, let me say the set is beautiful to look at. They are all shiny, even on the inside. However, that's where the story ends for me in positive light.

In this day and age where almost everything sold is made in China, we take special effort to find items that touch our food that is not made there. With this in mind, I first wrote to Berghoff USA asking where they were made. The response I got is that they are imported from Belgium, but specifically where they were made was smoothly avoided answering.

Anyways, wanted to give it a try and ordered. No where on the box nor the cookware does it state where they are made (very strange, indeed), which made me suspicious. Alright, then we noticed small imperfections and scratches. Alright, since it was a hassle to unpack we wanted all the reasons to keep this and decided to try it. After just one use, we noticed the floor of the pot was blackened in several spots, like pits. The chrome was taken off after one use in such spots. This raised all sorts of alarms for us. After mulling whether to go through with the difficult packing we decided to send it back to Amazon and order something made in France in lieu of it. I would say this set is not worth the price. There are several sets that are cheaper that are made in China by famous labels (typically their mid to lower end models) that are much better quality. I would say I would not really recommend this.

I received the set in excellent condition. They look very good hanging on my pot rack that I built from an antique cast iron floor register grille, shabby sheik. The only thing that I noticed that might be a concern for some, is that the outer edge of the pan lids is very thin, and if you drop a lid, it can and does bend the edge, a rolled edge would help, but would then make the set more expensive. I was able to straighten the edge out. If like me, you hang your pans up, you still need a place close by to store you lids. They are made in such a way that a crafty person can make a lid rack that holds them vertically from small to large. I made mine from old steel and then after welding together and dressing of the welds, I sprayed it with clear satin lacquer, once again very shabby sheik. My wife loves them, and that was a hard sell because as she said " we don't need pots and pans, we have a set of circulon pans that u had to by" . That was ten years ago and the coatings was almost completely worn away. These new pans are not coated, and should last much longer. Another reason I like this set is it consisted of a complete range of lidded pans, and not a bunch of skillets. We fry and sautée with cast iron skillets, so I did not want a set with more skillets. Been using the new set for two months now, cook every meal from scratch, so we have used them extensively, still love them, worth every dime.

I currently have Cuisinart stainless steel set as well as other pieces of cookware and when I saw this BergHOFF Earthchef Acadian 12-Piece Cookware Set on lightening deal, I decided now is the time to upgrade. There was one other review when I purchased this set rating it 3 stars because it is suspected this set is made in China and I do not know about that.

When the box arrived I was surprised at how heavy this cookware set is. For the amount of money I paid, I was expecting a lighter-weight set as the heaviness usually is roughly equivalent to price and this is a very heavy set. The bottoms are very thick and that is where most of the weight is I think. The set looks very well made and well packaged and very shiny. On my cuisinart set, the bottoms are slightly angled in whereas on this set of BerHOFF Earthchef Acadian, the bottoms continue to same line making a very sharp clean attractive edge and design that I appreciate.

While the heaviness is something most people would look for as a sign of quality, I am in the kitchen often and don't want to get a gym workout just from cooking. I prefer lighter weight pieces so I don't need to strain from the weight when the pots are full.

This is the first set of cookware I've bought in many years. We have a ceramic top range and most lighter pots and pans spin when heating. These are heavy enough to stay put but not so heavy my wife can't lift them when full. That said, cleanup is a bear!! The previous reviewer asserted that cleanup is easy....I beg to differ. The rack has a lot of wires and they are not at all easy to scrub. This may be advertised as 'Non-Stick' but several hours in a smoker will bake on a lot of 'gunk'. Even after soaking, the 'stuff' was still present. I finally gave up and sprayed it with oven cleaner. That was an improvement but I don't know how this will impact the rack over the long run. I am not sure that I will be using this accessory again.

I purchased this for my dad for Father's Day, I'm not sure why but he's suddenly been on a rib kick. He and my mom saw this contraption on some TV show and specifically requested it.

When it came in the mail (I'd ordered from Amazon as they had it at the lowest price at the time of my ordering) I discovered that the thing was HUGE. Now this wasn't a problem for my dad who has an enormous gas grill that puts most grills to shame, but it never would have fit on my dinky little Home Depot Discount Grill.

The wire was all coated with a non-stick layer which I knew right away would be a beast to clean but it's what he wanted! So I assembled my pile of gifts, including a smoker box and some Charbroil Hickory Wood Chips, 2 Pound Bagand headed over to the parent's house. We cooked ribs that day, both the sauce covered and dry rub kind. The large size of the Rib Rack allowed us to fit enough on there to serve the entire family. Now of course we weren't allowed to know what all Dad did to them top secret info, but they were fantastic!

The negative is that my sister and I had to do the cleanup and that thing is a real pain to clean. With Dad being a neat freak we had to scrub and scrub and scrub finally we gave in and informed him that there would always be little dark spots on it similar to his rotissery basket.

Though I don't expect he'll use it often, I do know that he'll use it again the next time he decides to cook up a pile of ribs.

Steven Raichlen's three seminal grilling cookbooks (How to Grill, Barbecue Bible and BBQ USA) are, far and away, the dirtiest, rattiest, most falling-apart cookbooks on my shelf. I think about buying new copies, but then I'd have to spend hours copying all of my margin notes on the recipes.

Steve's line of grilling accessories show the same dedication to grilling and smoking incredibly great food that his cookbooks do. I have a few of his toys and goodies, and, far and away, the one I love most is this grilling rack. No compromises, no cut corners--this is the perfect tool for grilling ribs in the back yard on your classic Weber kettle grill. (The packaging doesn't advertise the fact, but the rack was plainly designed to fit exactly on a standard 22 inch Weber, leaving the side areas uncovered so you can add coal and wood to the fire.)

It works beautifully with baby backs, spareribs, and the larger beef ribs, doubling the typical capacity of the grill and exposing everything to that yummy smoke. My restults have been uniformly wonderful. Sturdy and durable, too. While the coating is advertised as "non-stick," I do find it best to wiggle the ribs around a couple of times in the first hour of cooking. After that, you're golden. As for cleanup, I get good results by running mine through the diswasher...although it should be no secret that anything used in smoke cooking is unlikely to be perfectly clean ever again.

This review is giving me an appetite...I wonder if I can stop by the supermarket for some beef ribs on the way home?

If you baste your ribs when smoking them, this is not a good choice. It has way too many wires. It is a cleaning nightmare takes up to an hour to clean after smoking ribs for several hours.

Also, once Baby Backed Ribs are smoked in this to the point that they are "fall-off-the-bone-tender", they are very, very difficult to remove from the rack. Because there are so many wires that are too close together, the ribs cannot be removed vertically or horizontally from this rack after they are done. The curved ribs get caught below the top wires and cannot be removed. It is way over-engineered to a fault making smoking ribs a real chore.

I have tried three different non-stick sprays on this rack prior to using it to no avail. I have stopped using it for Baby-Back-Ribs after at least a dozen uses.
