Bayou Classic 0723, Aluminum Ladle, 20" length x 6" cup

Great product for ladling out huge pots of soup or sauce. Because it is so big, I store it in the oven. This product is exactly what we were looking for.

We were looking for a high-capacity ladle for food canning, something to prevent dribbles that happen while going back and forth between the cook pot and the canning jars. This thing sure does that OK. If you're looking for a HUGE ladle, this is it. As the description says, the bowl is 6 inches across. This works out to a scoop capacity of 3 cups.

GOOD:

Huge. One scoop fills 2 canning jars. Empties our slow cooker in 2 1/2 scoops. Fills a soup bowl with one (actually, less than one) scoop.

Sturdy.

BAD

Huge. Won't fit in any of our kitchen drawers. We keep it in the oven. Too big to empty pots completely -can't get into the corners. You'll need a smaller ladle/ scoop to get out the last bits.

We do a lot of canning in the summer, and this is just what we needed for those days when we can 40 jars of tomato sauce. My only suggestion would be to put a bit of a spout on one side (or both sides for left-handers) to make the pouring a bit more accurate. It is, indeed, a BIG ladle, just as it says. Also good for serving soups to big groups.

This is bigger then I thought it would be, but I had my son cut off some of the handle and bend the top back down then squeeze it a little flat so it is like a pouring pitcher and now I use it for measuring soups, chili and what ever to put in freezer. I really like it and will use it alot during canning season. It's big but it saves time.

I cook soup for the homeless. I use this ladle when I serve. It is larger than our bowls so I always have plenty in the ladle to fill each bowl. The ladle is well made and light weight. I really like the long handle.

Camerons Products Chicken Beer Roaster

This beer roaster is amazing. We have a $100 rotisserie that we rarely used because it takes up a lot of counter space and it's too hard to clean. This simple device has replaced that clunky inconvenient machine. Now we're cooking a big chicken dinner every weekend.

The first time we used the Beer Roaster, we tried a bland Miller Genuine Draft beer. The chicken came out moist, but flavorless. After some trial and error, we found a perfect recipe.

We pick a beer with lots of flavor. Our current preference is a dark Sam Adams brew like Black Lager or Brown Ale. We then add in a big spoonful of honey. Make sure you rinse off the chicken and pat it dry inside and out with paper towels. We then apply a dry rub to the outside of the chicken (any good rub you pick-up at the grocery store should be fine). A 6-pound chicken cooks for about 2 hours at 375 degrees. Once it's done cooking, let it sit for about 10 minutes so the juices can settle down.

Everyone raves about the flavor. There's never any leftovers. It's so much better than those lousy pre-cooked chickens at the grocery. The Beer Roaster is the best kitchen gadget we've ever bought.

No more wrestling a hot chicken off of an equally hot beer can! The 18/10 stainless steel construction is sturdy, and the tube is just the right size which makes taking the chicken off a breeze. The beer roaster is a one piece unit with a base that provides ample support for the bird to rest on.

I filled with water after removing the item from the packaging.

I wiped the base dry with a paper towel.

Within one minute, I probably had a Tablespoon of water that had leaked onto the base plate.

I filled out online the form for a replacement and Amazon is ready to send a new one out (no charge) I also printed out a label for return shipping that Amazon created.

I have 30 days for them to receive the defective item before being charged for the second or replacement item.

I will follow up when received on the condition of the second roaster.

I have cooked beer can chicken before and yes it is moist and tasty.

I knew the size of the item, but was still shocked to see the size of it...appeared small. But could be a good thing if you were trying to cook two chickens at the same time.

The diameter of the 'can' is smaller than that of a can of soda...thus it will be easier to insert into the chicken.

Update two days later:

Received the second or replacement item in two days from Amazon.

It worked just fine until I tried to clean it. I placed a dish rag loosely into the can to clean...holding onto the square base and turning on the disk rag, I felt a snap. Part of the bottom of the can separated from the plate. Does NOT leak though. I sent it back also.

It turns out the item is made of three pieces.

The cylinder (can) is made of stainless steel.

The bottom of the can has a steel plug (not stainless...magnetic) connected somehow to the cylinder. I suspect either glued or jammed into the bottom. I DO NOT KNOW. But I see no spot welding marks.

Then the plug is spot welded to the base which also is NOT stainless steel (again magnetic material like steel).

One final note. With the chicken resting on top of the can, the top of the can is near the top of the neck. So I am not sure how much moisture and flavor stays inside the chicken.

I will stick with my Fox Run brand.

I have on order two stainless cups or tumblers that I will see how they work within the Fox Run wire cage.

We are the one-pot-meal enthusiastic kind of family and this pot turned to be our best friend immediately. It's actually our second one as the first pot's teflon surface started chipping quite soon. We did not use any sharp tools for stirring, however few times we used the top heat settings, what is not recommended. The rest of our T-fal pots and pans are however holding completely OK, which is maybe also a reason, why this new one arrived with obviously new surfase technology (they probably experienced some more cases with the old one...).

I am not sure if this all writing is understandable therefore the bottomline is:

This product is superb for frying, one potting, gratinating and baking and the 2nd generation teflon surface makes it much more durable than its predecessor.

We had a T-fal fry pan with the 2 short handles that we used all the time. We liked that it was easier to store than a traditional long handled pan. After it finally wore out we tried to find another without any luck. We then came across this Caldero. While its not really a fry pan, it actually has worked out better as its more versatile. We are also going to be getting the larger version as well.

I bought this product because I liked the color and also loved the glass lid. This pan works so wonderfully, it's the right size for so many dishes! I love the fact that you can see what's cooking without removing the lid and they were very smart with the design putting a hole in there to release the steam. Very clever indeed! This pan is perfect for a variety of things. I am surprised at how often I reach for it. The only negative, if you want to call it that, is that it's lighter and thinner than my other pans. Considering it's size, I really can't call it a real negative for me. Very pleased.

Chasseur Cast Iron 3290CR French Bistrot Grill/Griddle, Chili Red

I haven't let it change my rating, but it was pretty painful that it took five shipments to actually receive the right product, in an undamaged condition. The first three times, starting before Christmas, I received a Chasseur Pannini pan instead, and then when they finally shipped the right grill it was broken through its package, badly chipped, and had to be returned. Even this one's package was broken open, but fortunately the product was undamaged. Heavy, expensive products should receive a bit more packaging than just the manufacturer's store box.

Okay, now to the product review. I have an induction cooktop and this works great on it. It heats up evenly over two induction hobs with the bridge unit in between. The Lodge two-sided grill/griddle wouldn't work on the induction grill (the edges are too high), but this one does. It is a very heavy duty cast iron grill with a nice chili red colored enamel finish. It gets really hot, so do as the instructions say and start with low heat and raise it over time. It's not perfectly flat, but works fine and it has really nicely deep grill ribs. The only reason I dropped it down one star is because it is expensive, almost $100 when I purchased it. The Lodge grill/griddle is less than half the price, although not enameled on the bottom side.

These look cute online but they are very wide and difficult to skewer into things. The ends are dull and they look pretty cheap with metal remainders on them around most of the seams. All of that wouldn't be so bad if they did not rust the first time I washed them (I didn't even let them soak or anything strange, soap and water and drip dried in my dry rack). Do not get these, they are cheap and difficult to use. If you saw them in person, you would walk away, even at Amazons price.

Maverick GL-03 Cordless LED Grill Light

I thought I was taking a leap of faith on this brand, etc, but then I found out that they supply one of the two best "gourmet" prep & supply store chains in the country with this exact same light. It's got a very powerful clip on that doesn't budge in wind or when I move the kettle grill. It's got a very bright, clear, targeted light that can completely illuminate my 22 1/2 inch weber grill cooking surface. I would highly recommend this light (and save about $20 from the aforementioned foodie store).

I researched extensively before buying this product and have to admit that this is one of the few times I've been "underwhelmed" by my final selection. Having four lightbulbs sounded like I'd practically have floodlights to see my food. Not so I can see the food on the grill, but had to take the steaks off and go into the house to see whether they were done. Maybe it's because the grill is located where it doesn't get ANY illumination after dark (no light spilling out of windows, street lights, or whatever), but the lighting from this product was definitely not what I was expecting.

I'll continue to use it, as it's better than nothing, but I wouldn't recommend it.

***Update*** I have to modify my review above if they had no stars, I'd select that. As it is, I can't change it from the 2 stars I initially gave it. After being disappointed in the quality of the lighting, this product lasted two more weeks and then died! What a waste! And of course it's more than 30 days from purchase, so that was $40 down the drain. Don't buy this one! I'll stick to my flashlight from now on.

I LOVE the idea of the light with flexible neck but was disappointed when I couldn't get the clamp to fit anywhere on the grill. I measured before I purchased it and it should have worked but it didn't. If the clamp would have opened up another 1/8 of an inch it would have fit. Because it was a early Father's Day gift to my husband, he made the best of it and attached it to a chair that we slid up next to the grill instead of sending it back. He didn't want to hurt the kids feelings. A word to the wise....great gift idea...but, make sure your grill tray is less then an inch thick....3/4" much better....ours was 1" exactly.

Parker & Bailey Stainless Steel Polish 8-Ounce

I came across this product in a discount store, and because I had great experiences with Parker and Bailey products in the past (Parker & Bailey Kitchen Cabinet Cream 8-Ounce and Parker & Bailey Furniture Cream with Lemon Oil, 16 oz.), I decided to buy it. In all honesty though, I did not expect much because none of the products I had bought before to clean my stainless steel Bosch dishwasher had managed to get it clean.

As much as I love my super-quiet dishwasher, cleaning it has been chore that was never successful. We had 2 streaks of some sort of dried liquid running down the front, perpendicular to the "grain", and no product ever got rid of those long vertical lines. I had tried all kinds of home remedies as well as the simplehuman Stainless Steel Microfiber Cleaning Mitt and the Cerama Bryte Stainless Steel Cleaning Polish (with Mineral Oil) and never saw those lines disappear. At some point I had even asked my husband to take this on because I figured he was stronger, but the result was always the same: The lines were still visible and our arms hurt ;-)

The experience with the Parker and Bailey Steel Polish was different. As directed on the bottle, I shook it very well, applied a small amount of polish to a clean and dry cloth, and then went to work, going with the grain. I did not even have to apply too much pressure or use that much elbow grease and after a bit of polishing the surface was clean no more vertical lines. Imagine my surprise. I keep looking at the dishwasher surface from different angles, expecting to still see traces of those lines but there simply are none. I could not be happier. Finally my dishwasher surface looks good after trying all those other products and methods for close to a year, I am amazed that this one took care of it. Once again: Thank you, Parker and Bailey. I yet have to come across one of their products that doesn't perform outstandingly.

THIS DIDN'T TAKE THE STAINS OUT OF MY SINK. IT DID MAKE IT SHINY, BUT THE SHINE DIDN'T LAST VERY LONG.

It says to shake well, pour small amount of polish onto a clean soft dry cloth and apply to surface. Buff with clean dry for brilliant shine.

I have been using a lot of dry cotton soft tshirts. And, no matter what motion, cloth, or effort the entire panel in the fridge is smudgie. From the first application from the bottle onto the surface of the fridge, the cloth comes off black. Then cleaner and cleaner but never shining without all the circles, linear moves . Quite frustrated as I used the spray oil in the past and it was like 2 seconds job.

37" Long Wood Handle Pizza Oven Wire Brush with Scraper * Commercial Grade *

Bought this for my new wood fired brick oven on my back deck. This brush worked decently however did the bristles were not close enough to push back all of the ash so you would readily get ash on the bottoms of the first pizzas you cooked. The disappointing thing was when the brush broke at the base of where the handle connects to the brush. The material was not made of steel but of more a casted type material. Needless to say, lasted for a good 4-5 times with very light use before breaking. Unfortunately I was 1 week late on my report to amazon, so I may be out of luck. I bought these tools to go with my new Ducane Grill. They are as rugged and well built as my grill. These are the best in terms of quality of all the tools I have seen. I'm sure they will outlast me.

This three-piece set is well-made and sturdy. The tongs are quite long as would be required to handle flaming items at the back of a large grill. They clean easily.

Gave all my old BBQ sets to Goodwill as soon as I got these. I too, bought these with my Ducane grill and couldn't be more pleased. They are very sturdy.

The only complaints I have are with the tongs and they are minor problems. The tongs are SO sturdy that I have to make sure I get a good grip on them or I might not hold the food tightly enough. I've dropped a few pieces of food. And the other complaint is with the grill as much as the tongs. The hooks on the grill to hang the utensils aren't wide enough to hold the tongs securely and they didn't drill a hole (though I suppose I could) through the bottom of the U in the tongs to tie a leather thong. So I just loop them through a thong I hang from the hook, but then I keep loosing me thong. (My daughters think that is hilarious, for some reason.)

Holmes HBF2010A-WM 20 Inch Box Fan, White

Hello!

You'd think that a fan is SO simple, that there should NEVER be anything wrong with it right out the box.

That's what any normal person would think, but that isn't correct.

I purchased 2 new Holmes HABF20 20-Inch Box Fans.

I took out the first new fan, plugged it in, and turned it on. It made the most horrible noise, which went away after a bit. I went to change the speed, and the speed control FELL OFF, right inside of the fan! The blades immediately started to smack into it and the wiring with a horrible noise (probably the same horrible noise as before.) Since I could no longer get to the control to turn it off, my wife and I had to scramble, to unplug the thing.

I took out the second new fan, plugged it in, and turned it on. I went to change the speed, and the speed control FELL OFF, right inside of the fan, on the SECOND fan, too!

I couldn't believe it!

After careful examination, I determined that the fans are manufactured wrong. The snap-in mount, that was SUPPOSED to hold the speed control to the grill, was designed wrong. It did NOT hold the speed control to the grill properly, and the slightest, smallest force (such as operating the speed control in a completely normal fashion), would cause the knob to fall off, and the speed control to fall into the fan case. No matter HOW many times I would carefully and correctly snap the speed control back into the hole on the grill, it would simply fall out again with the slightest pressure.

Returning the fan for a replacement wouldn't do any good, as ALL of at least this batch of fans (how many hundreds of thousands, would this be?) are manufactured WRONG. Replacing the part would do no good, as ALL the replacements would have the same manufacturing defect.

Secondly, one of the screws that was supposed to hold the grill on was missing, causing the plastic grill to flap open. (In opening up the case to check out the other problems, I found the screw in a blob of plastic goo designed to hold the wires in place.)

Thirdly, when I went to screw in the missing screw, I was able to screw in the screw again, ONLY with loosening ALL the screws that held that grill in place, as the matching holes in the metal case had been drilled slightly OFF. However, I was finally able to get them all in.

Fourthly, the top of one of the fans was bashed in. (Remember, this fan was taken out of a new, still sealed and undamaged box, so I can only conclude that this damage happened in the factory.)

Fifthly, while the outside of the box proudly proclaims: "Made In America", in reality, the motor is manufactured in China. I suppose it should say "Assembled In America By Incompetent, Bungling Clowns". It makes me ashamed for America.

My solution?

It took me FAR LESS time to just re-engineer the fans (less than 10 minutes), than it would have to return them. I re-engineered the speed control mount so that it worked properly, and held the speed control firmly to the grill (something that their incompetent engineer apparently could not do, presumably with the most sophisticated computer design aids currently available). All I had to do, was to use thin plastic shims between the "snaps" and the main body of the mount, so that the snaps on the mount "snapped" into the mounting hole properly, and held in the speed control firmly in place. (They have been making mounts like this since at LEAST the 1930's, so this is NOT new, untried technology.)

Holmes management should be DEEPLY ASHAMED of themselves for this debacle.

Unless you are willing to re-engineer these fans yourself, as I did, STAY FAR AWAY from them, they are VERY DANGEROUS!

If the speed control fell into the case when you were away from the fan (which easily could happen), leaving the fan blades to smash into the wires and speed control thousands of times, it could leave broken and/or exposed "LIVE" 120 volt wires touching the metal case or hanging out of the case, or maybe blow your breaker, or even possibly set your house on FIRE by throwing off sparks!

Holmes should recall these defective units, and refund everyone's money. (Not the first time Holmes has had to recall dangerous, defectively designed items.)

Easy review for this product. This fan moves a lot of air, it is very light weight and it is easy to clean (just remove front grill to access blade). It's also the cheapest fan I've seen online or in store (I love Amazon, but found this fan for $ at Best Buy ). It's a pretty quiet fan on the first 2 settings, but somewhat loud on the highest; which really isn't a problem for me, since it moves a lot of air on that setting. The only gripe I would make if forced to make one would be the small handle which is on the back of the fan below where normal handles usually are on box fans. Overall, it is a great box fan not only for the money, but for all your cooling needs.

Great fan. Three speeds, all seem on par. I read the complaints about the knob coming off; I haven't experienced this problem. Also saw complaints about how noisy it is. it does make noise, it is, after all, forcing air about lol. i don't find the noise it creates at all unreasonable or uncomfortable.

All in all, a good product at a good price.

Keep it simple, stupid. That is the motto this fan should have. Cord plugs into back of motor directly. Controls down there with the motor. No goofy knobs on top to interfere with your window sash when pulled down against the top of the fan. Just pure simplicity. What a novel idea. Kinda like the old days. I like it. Works great. Quiet. Plenty of air flow and the price. Well, the price is the lowest I could find anywhere including my local 'discount' department store. You know those stores. They have a big W or K in the name. You can't go wrong with this fan. And if you happen to get a bad one after being banged around in the shippers truck for days remember that can happen to any brand. And all ya gotta do is contact Amazon for a replacement. Just plain simple, huh?
