Sittin' Chicken and Turkey Combo

Sittin' Chicken and Turkey ComboI originally purchased just the "Sittin' Chicken" steamer, but after using it the first time I immediately ordered the chicken and turkey combo so I would never be without this option for roasting poultry. If you're going to feed more than two or three hungry people, you will need to roast more than one chicken anyway, so this gives me two chicken and one turkey steamer. The popular method has always been to use a can of beer for this type of cooking, but I like using fruit juices. Apple juice is my favorite. The meat comes out with a moist and sweet flavor, unattainable by other methods. For Easter this year I did a turkey on the grill (we have a wood pellet grill) with pineapple juice and beer in the Sittin' Turkey, and quickly discovered that I will need to make more turkey next year for this crowd. They loved it.

In addition, the ceramic steamers are easy to clean. I rub a little vegetable oil on the outside before cooking to keep crusty bits from sticking, and simply throw them in the dishwasher when I'm done. I don't think I will ever go back to the old way of roasting poultry.

Have only used the smaller chicken base. Chicken came out great. Easy to fill cooker with whatever savory concoction one likes. Imparts nice flavor and moistness to the birds. Easy to clean. Should not have to pay for two Turkey cookers to get two Chicken cookers, though.

I use these on my big green egg. The chicken is great. Best of all, they are wide enough at the bottom that they do not tip over.

Have used this or just a can or a can holder for years, the only trick is to get the liquid you choose hot first then put your chicken on and cook. If you don't it takes too long for the liquid to steam and your chicken is done with no bennifit. I have never tried a turkey, I preferr mine deep fried.

Want Sittin' Chicken and Turkey Combo Discount?

Love this so far. Have only tried the chicken one so far but the chicken came out so flavorful and moist I was about speechless. Not sure it is was because I shoved some seasoning under the skin as well as out and inside the chicken but the flavor in EVERY piece of the meat was just incredible. I couldn't believe how moist it was also. Typically the breast seems to come out tasteless and a bit dry for me 70% of the time but this was a sure bulls eye. Can't say enough about how happy I am about this item and am looking forward to doing a small turkey. Oh, my first attempt was in the oven as well.

Rectangular Cooking Grid for Viking Grills

Rectangular Cooking Grid for Viking GrillsReasonably priced replacement for the Viking Grill well made with porcelain coating but would have been better fit with another 1/2 " longer...

I ordered 3 cooking grids. They all were marked according to the order, ie 22 3/4" long. However one was actually 23 1/4" long and didn't fit. I am returning it for a correct one. It is an inconvenience to me.

Kingsford Steak Thermometers, Set of 2

Kingsford Steak Thermometers, Set of 2I was tipped off to these by my parents... who always burn the meat. They got these and found they were making the best steak they'd ever grilled. I bought some for pan frying, and realized while a little more difficult to see, they work just as well for pan frying.

When many people think of thermometer, they think "oh we're talking about food safety". Well, yes, but that really wasn't my goal here. My goal was the perfect medium well steak, and this is the way to your goal. Put the thermometer in from the side, leave it in there while grilling or frying, and I guarantee you, your steak will be done _exactly_ the way you want it.

A must have, and very affordable.

These are handy little thermometers to use for oven, bbq or camper. I got tired of spendinmg $22 for digital only to break the probe every month. Bought these to get back to basics and they work well. They are smaller than I am used to but plenty big enough for the cuts of meat I'm cooking (cx breast, burgers, etv).

Buy Kingsford Steak Thermometers, Set of 2 Now

I slow-roasted a nice hunk of beef on the Weber for 5 hours using indirect heat and this tool allowed me to grill it to PERFECTION without having to constantly check and guess.

The only complaint is that the lenght is a little long. If you aren't doing a roast or something huge, this could go right in one side and out the other!

But you can make it work ;)

I purchased these as I wanted individual grill thermometers that actually had temperature numbers (not just a range rare, medium, well etc.) which are hard to find. Despite looking promising, I inserted into a steak. It immediately shot up off the scale, indicating a food temperature of near 200 from what I could tell. I removed, reinserted and moved it to different spots. It read pretty much the same. I cross checked with a digital grill thermometer I have and the same spot read 115 degrees which was much closer to the truth. I used the same digital thermometer before and it is accurate. For this reason I can't recommend the Kingsfords.

Want Kingsford Steak Thermometers, Set of 2 Discount?

These are not accurate. I tried them out on some steaks I was grilling. The temperature read 140 when the steaks were on the grill long enough to be cooked medium, which should have given a reading of 160. I'm just glad that I knew how the steaks were cooked from experience. Not recommended. For what I paid for them, they are not even worth returning.

Dough-Joe® Pizza and Baking Stone

Dough-Joe® Pizza and Baking StoneOk, go to your oven right now and take whatever baking stone you've been using out, and throw it away. Pampered Chef baking stones, stones from Sur La Table, even the Emile Henry baking stones are nowhere near as heavy and versatile as these stones. If you are like me, you're suspicious of the low price and the fact that they're four separate stones. But lemme tell ya... I don't know how they do it, but at least for my purposes these stones are far and away the BEST quality on the market. You can configure them in a multitude of ways in your oven to accommodate a Boule, a Baguette, Pizza -you name it. And let me tell you about the CRUST you get. I am currently working a modified starter loosely based on the LaBrea method, and never in my entire life have I been able to get these results from my home oven. Crackly crisp crust, enviable "custardy" open pores, baked perfectly through without char or damp spots or slumpy profile. My other stones didn't produce anything close. The BEST loaves of bread, ever-my husband wants me to hang a shingle out front and start selling them from the house. Absolutely wonderful.

I like the darker color of these stones; I don't know if perhaps that might be contributing to the amazingly even heat, but just in terms of vanity -they don't look nearly as stained and funky as the lesser stones do, and I've been putting them through a rigorous trial. There was a disclaimer in the box that little cracks might be present or develop that don't affect the performance, but so far I see none. I am sure part of their superiority is partly that these stones are easily twice the thickness of the stones you buy anywhere else--I almost laughed when I opened the box-they're like bowling ball heavy. The construction just puts anything else I've ever used to shame. The ribbed backside makes them "grip" the oven rack nicely too--especially nice when you're transferring dough or trying to remove a finished loaf and everything is blazing hot. I haven't tried them on the grill yet, but I can't wait to do it this summer as we grill a fair amount of pizza. I've always put dough directly on the grill, which really is taking chances with hot spots and split second timing (and lots of apologizing on my part to hungry guests if I fail and we resort to delivery pizza). And I've never had a stone I thought was really up to the challenge. But I think we might buy a second set of these, just for pizza-on-the-grill purposes. Good grief, at this price?? We'll make that back in like two skipped delivery pizzas from the gourmet place up the road.

In short, this was one of the best culinary purchases I believe I've ever made, and I have no reservations recommending these to anyone who wants to take their baking to the next level.

First, these were shipped lightening fast accompanied by exacting communication from the company( a hurricane was coming and they apologized in advance for any tardiness). The tiles were well packed and are well made and thick. The photo on amazon is a little misleading due to the angle it was shot atthe stones are not square but rectangular which matters if one wants to make large, round pizzaswhich won't fit and one would probably do best to order 2 sets keeping in mind the size of one's oven. Using them primarily for bread in an oven this does not matter much to me and i would suppose the shape is most advantageous to those who will be using them on a grill.

My first bake was in fact a pizza, square, and the crust was absolutely perfect-evenly cooked, golden colored bottom, chewy inside. Having appropriately manufactured( scored as they should be on the bottom) pieces rather than as one big slab may lessen the chance of having shattered stones and makes them easier to store and handle. Highly recommended product which cooks beautifully with the added plus that the vendor/manufacturer seems very responsive.

Buy Dough-Joe® Pizza and Baking Stone Now

First: Were Shipped very quickly, well packaged. Could not have done it better.

The Product: Good Thick tiles, 4 tiles instead of one larger tile, so easier to deal with moving them in and out of the oven. These are my second set of pizza stones, the first were thin and broke into peices, these shouldn't have that problem. They say they heat up in 20 minutes. I think you are better off to give them 30 minutes. The whole trick to cooking a NY style pizza is to allow the stones to be so hot that they take the liquid in the dough and turn it to steam, which gives you all the fluff and air bubbles on your crust edge. The other thing to realize: NY Pizza crust is sourdough. Put some flour into water, cover it with a towel, leave on the counter over night. Dump half, refill with flour and water, cover with a towel over night. AFter four or five nights you have your starter. Add some of it to your dough mix, refill it with flour and water. You can then just keep it in the fridge and refresh it every two or three weeks. It will give your dough that chewy pull of an NY Pizza. Having grown up in NY, I am not fond of the local pizza, and having a nice set of stones like these allows me to create a great NY style pizza when I want. Absolutely love them!

Read Best Reviews of Dough-Joe® Pizza and Baking Stone Here

I've read all the reviews for these stones and, from my own experience, every word was true. They allow you to bake a pizza with a near-perfect, al forno-style crust in under 10 minutes. The four smaller stones (bricks/tiles actually) are lighter and easier to use than a single large stone. But I found this modularity also presented the product's one failing. Like all bricks they are first cast in molds and then fired. As a result, there are raised ridges running the length of the long edges. This means that the bricks never sit really flush. There are gaps wherever two long edges abut one another. It's no big deal with pizza or a hearty bread, but this is could be a problem when baking bread with a really soft dough, such as a ciabatta. It took me more than 2 hours of close hand work to eliminate the ridges and thus the gaps. The factory could, and I believe should, have done it as part of the manufacturing process. Then this product would truly be the perfect home baking stone.

Want Dough-Joe® Pizza and Baking Stone Discount?

I wanted to like this and thought it sounded good (making 4 individual pizzas, etc), but the reality of it is that these are pretty small to fit a homemade pizza on. And I find them awkward to work with when I try to put them all together as one large stone. I ended up getting another large size stone (one solid piece) that rarely leaves my oven and I use it all the time. These are in a cabinet never being used.

GrillPro 40601 Grid Cleaning Brush

GrillPro 40601 Grid Cleaning Brushwell... i had one of these before and loved it but i think the coils on this one is slightly smaller because they tend to slip through the grill rods... the last one didn't... a little disappointed. it still works, but i need to be more careful.

After finding loose metal bristles in my food and my grill, I searched for a grill brush to replace multiple metal bristle brushes. I found this brush. The spiral design prevents loss of bristles and does a good job of cleaning the grill. If the handle were longer I would give it 5 stars. Otherwise it works great for everyday use.

I often burn the bread before the cheese is even melted. With the sandwich maker I can toast the bread and the cheese will be Ooey Gooey just the way I like it in less than 5 minutes. Also the creations are endless with the Sandwich maker. I actually made another favorite Cinnamon Caramel Apple Pies/Empanadas using the Sandwich Maker. All I did was get Wheat Bread, Canned Apple Pie Filling, Sprinkled Cinnamon and sugar on inside and outside of bread, and a Spoon full of Dulce De Leche *Caramel* inside. It took only about 5 minutes to make a Warm Toasty Apple Pie that went great with my Tall Cup of Milk. Whenever you're looking for a quick snack ? Turn to the Sandwich maker to help with that snack attack. You can make a quick quesadilla with corn torillas as well. Just fill it with cheese and a scoop of your favorite salsa and in the blink of an eye you have a quick snack. I L

Grill / Fondue Pot with Thermostat Control

Grill / Fondue Pot with Thermostat ControlWorst fondue pot ever. Sure, neat grill & broiling abilities. ABSOLUTELY NO INSTRUCTIONS WHAT-SO-EVER!!!! Oil doesn't get near hot enough to cook meat. It has a setting 1-5, but no explanation for the tempertaures of 1-5. Might be good for cheese or chocolate, but don't get your hopes up. BTW, don't bother looking for the company that made this, I can't find a thing on it. I was hoping to find better instructions or some sort of customer service line, zilch. I would not recommend buying this. I'll be lucky to get half my money back if I decide to sell it on craigslist, ebay, or a garage sale. Very disappointed. Take this as fair warning.

Haven't had a chance to use the item but Newcool Store was helpful and I will do business in the future with them.

Cast Iron Steak Weight & Bacon Press

Cast Iron Steak Weight & Bacon PressWhen I got this, not only was the metal and handle sticky with some unknown substance, but the press was actually warped in the middle so it wouldn't lay flat. The texture on the bottom is very small squares packed closely together. Not what I was looking for. I returned it post-haste.

Do yourself a favor and spend another 5 bucks on a QUALITY press. I bought the Outset Q111. Significantly better.

It is a functional item and arrived as described and quickly. I think it works fine but had a few flaws in the casting that I wish that they had caught. A little better quality control is needed. Not worth returning, I will just grind the spots in question to protect my cookwares finish.

Buy Cast Iron Steak Weight & Bacon Press Now

Nice heavy bacon/sausage press. It's cast iron so don't get it wet but it's exactly what it looks like. Very solidly made. The wood handle is screwed in at both ends and the wood isn't finished on the ends, so again, if you get it wet, that might be a problem, but if you keep it clean with a brush or scraper, this utensil is likely to last a long, long time. Can't go wrong.

This is great for flattening bacon and steaks. I highly recommend this for a friend and would buy again. It has small bumps on the flat, heavy, device. Well made. Needs to be seasoned and dried well after washing as it is metal and can rust if not treated. It does have a sticker that states "Made in China".

Want Cast Iron Steak Weight & Bacon Press Discount?

I washed this item before putting it to use. While washing it, it was literally turning to rust in my hands. My boyfriend kept saying..Naaah, that's not rust. But, what the hell else could it be? Rusty water just beading up on the press almost as fast as it was wet.

Then the handle got super sticky and it's as if it's coated in some weird adhesive or something.

I'm going to return this thing as soon as possible. Do yourself a favor, get one from a name brand company. I actually thought I was ordering the Kingsford one but, I ended up with this and well, it sucks.

Nostalgia Electrics NGD-200 Non-stick Electric Griddle with Warming Drawer

Nostalgia Electrics NGD-200 Non-stick Electric Griddle with Warming DrawerI bought this same griddle from on sale and returned it immediately after opening the package. The unit is cheaply made (drawer and trim plastic is not substantial), the surface is not as large as most griddles, the surface was scratched, and the depth of the drawer might allow for a stack of one pancake. Great idea, poor product.

Having a large family, and owning several griddles in my lifetime, I know what is a good griddle and what is not and I would not recommend this griddle.

1. The design is poor the warming draw takes up the entire front, so the grease catcher has to be in the back, making it inaccessible if you would like to use some of the grease to cook in.

2. The warming drawer is a good idea, but if you pull it out enough to put something in, it comes off the tracks and is VERY difficult to put back on. Therefore, my warming drawer ends up sitting on the counter under the unit.

3. If I were designing a griddle, I would assume people would use it with the warming draw in the front where they can access it so why did they make this griddle with the cord facing the front so it is bending back on itself to plug it in??

4. All the edges are rounded, so there is not a place to break an egg.

If, after all these bad reviews, you choose to purchase this product, please do not follow the temperature guidelines in the owners manual all your food will burn! I can't have the dial any higher than 250 degrees, and then I have to watch it closely. I have burned whole batches of bacon, pancakes, and eggs.

This foods will burn before they are even cooked through!

I was given this item as a gift, and am slowly adjusting to it, but if you're looking to purchase a griddle, don't waste your money on this one!

Buy Nostalgia Electrics NGD-200 Non-stick Electric Griddle with Warming Drawer Now

The warmer on this grill is a laugh. It is way too small for us. Even though there are only two of us, we prefer our old grill (without the broken greaser catcher). We are able to make enough so that we can sit down and eat together. The way we interpreted the advertising it was much larger,

Read Best Reviews of Nostalgia Electrics NGD-200 Non-stick Electric Griddle with Warming Drawer Here

Get the Cuisinart, or some other better made griddle (with or without attached warmer) if you can afford and "heft" it, which I couldn't and can't.

Pros:

1) Price

2) Weight (I have autoimmune diseases, swollen hands, pain early, every day, so I can move the griddle and warmer without having to really "grasp" anything too tight or too heavy for me.)

3) Easy to wipe off if you're making pancakes (my husband is a vegetarian and I don't eat bacon, beef, sausage anytime but once a year, for my birthday, I like a prime rib, and I sure wouldn't fix it on this griddle).

I let it heat up really hot, wipe Country Crock on a paper towel, smear the griddle with it, being careful not to burn myself "too" much, and after I've got three 5-inch pancakes cooked completely and put in the warming drawer, I take the same piece of paper towel and sort of shove the little crispy pancake leftover pieces toward the back slot (my husband cleans up the griddle after it cools completely, and he says it's easy to do), make the next three 5-inch pancakes, and so on, until I've got 11-12--you can't completely control pancake batter spread, or at least I can't, so sometimes I get 11 and sometimes I get 12, but I never have more than three stacks across--the drawer won't hold any more than that.

4) This would be good for a dorm room--if the administration would let you have it in your room or for any single person just starting out. If you're eating something else, made in the microwave, on or in the stove--like the bacon or baked beans mentioned in an ad for this griddle--the warmer will hold (I counted) eleven 5-inch pancakes, stacked three to four high, and nothing else with them.

5) I'm not anxious making pancakes on this the way I was in a non-stick skillet when I had no way to stop the pancakes from getting dead cold in minutes, so I would serve my husband his first and eat after just like my mom used to do--and I felt left out, like a cook and waitress, not a wife and companion, while my husband relaxed over the newspaper and his breakfast.

OK, now for the cons:

1) The warmer, which was the second reason I bought this and not any other that I looked for--the first reason as noted above was the price--doesn't keep food "really warm" as the marketers imply, thought it does keep the pancakes from getting stone cold or even cool.

As my husband says, he can melt butter on his, so that's not "too" bad, but the warmer is made of thin plastic and set so low and loose under the griddle that when I touch it, it moved around, I can push in under further, which is a good thing, so the pancakes stay a little warmer than they would if I let the tray sit flush with the front of the griddle.

2) There is only enough "cooking area", as opposed to total area, for three 5-inch pancakes: one to the very left, one in the center, one to the very right. The manufacturers, based on engineer directions, I imagine, put an "inner frame" on top so you've got dead space, and with just the two of us, not being giant breakfast eaters, it takes me four batches--each batch kept in the iffy warmer below, to finish making our pancakes.

3) The temperature gauge is wonky. I have to put it up really high and then crack our front door (we live in Utah) to let the chemical smell dissipate. It does not wear off after the first use, and also to let the fumes from the non-stick surface mixed with very high heat, to not get trapped in our very small kitchen. Well, I do set it higher than indicated, pour the pancake batter carefully (left, right, center), and watch for the tops to bubble and the outside to dry "just enough" before flipping the pancakes over. (It shouldn't take so long to cook just 11-12 pancakes, and it didn't take me that long when I did them in a non-stick skillet, but as I said, I couldn't join my husband at the table to eat with him, so I prefer this griddle and it's luke-warmer to the alternative.

RECOMMENDATION:

If you can afford a Cuisinart or any other griddle that is made better, buy it. Then put one of those bread stones in a basket, stack your pancakes in the basket and cover them up with a heavy cloth. But if you're single, on a tight budget, have to handle the griddle yourself and can't lift heavy things as I cannot, and you're planning to make just pancakes, maybe some bacon, buy this until you can get the better, or best, on the market. This is definitely a make-do, stop-gap item; I wouldn't buy it for anyone else, but I'm grateful I can sit down with my husband to eat with him, and this particular griddle at this particular price allows me to do that.

~ Carolyn Elkins

Want Nostalgia Electrics NGD-200 Non-stick Electric Griddle with Warming Drawer Discount?

The aluminum is thinner than in my old griddle; this one heats up faster but the heat distribution is not uniform, To get any kind of uniformity you can only cook 3-4 pancakes at a time placed down the middle of the heating surface (between the heating element) even then, the middle of the pancakes are lighter in color (because the center is farthest away from the heating element). For some reason the griddle is "not submergible" so cleaning between the griddle and the plastic heat guard surrounding the entire heating surface is tedious and time consuming.

You get what you pay for. In hindsight I would have been much happier spending the extra money and getting a better designed, heavier duty griddle--I do not recommend this griddle; actually, I'm generous in giving it two stars.

Turbo Convection Oven

Turbo Convection OvenA friend of mine purchased a Turbo oven last year from another manufacture and he swears by it. I Thought it would be nice to have ,but I didn't what to spend $139 as he did for his. When I entered Turbo Ovens into Amazon, the Oyama Turbo came up. Upon doing a little research on the Oyama, and others products like this , I saw they all had 1300 watts of power, ran by halogen heat source and used a fan to distribute the heat. So what was the difference? Each manufacture was charging double the price for their oven compared to the Oyama.

I decided to purchase this oven because it looked solid and had all the features as the expensive one's did.The Oyama arrived days later and the moment of truth was upon me.I opened the box up read the directions and within ten minutes I was ready to go. I decided to try a steak, and fourteen minutes later It was ready. The steak came out perfect and I was sold. The next couple of weeks I tried everything from pork chops to fish and everything came out great! As far as the clean up,a piece of cake. This product is for everyone and I wished I had bought it last year! This product would be great for college kids away from school.

I love this little oven. The glass bowl and metal racks clean up in the dishwasher. You do have to clean the lid by hand. I accidently got some water in the lid (where the motor is) once while cleaning it, and it tripped the GFI when I plugged it in. Set it on the stove while I used my regular oven and the heat dried it out. It worked fine as soon as it was dry again. With the two of us, I can put in a cornish game hen, potatoes and veggie and have dinner in 45 minutes with no added heat in the kitchen. That is especially nice in the summer. We use it several times a week and will do so even more this winter. I wish the glass lid came apart for cleaning, but that is a minor detail. I have not used it for bread or cake, but see no reason that would not work as well. A roast and a hen also cooked well in it. Mine has a timer that turns it off and you can also set the temperature. A handy guide on the lid suggests the temperature for various items.

Weber Style 6437 Professional-Grade 4-Piece Skewer Set

Weber Style 6437 Professional-Grade 4-Piece Skewer SetI bought two sets. What's to say, it's a metal rod? They are a nice brushed stainless steel and wide enough that food won't rotate when you need to turn it. A nice touch is the little metal disk used to push food off the skewer. I expect these to last a couple of decades or more.

Great skewers. This is exactly what we needed. The sliding ring makes getting everything off the skewer and onto your plate easy. Since the item is stainless clean up is a breeze.
