Sittin' Chicken and Turkey Combo

Sittin' Chicken and Turkey ComboI originally purchased just the "Sittin' Chicken" steamer, but after using it the first time I immediately ordered the chicken and turkey combo so I would never be without this option for roasting poultry. If you're going to feed more than two or three hungry people, you will need to roast more than one chicken anyway, so this gives me two chicken and one turkey steamer. The popular method has always been to use a can of beer for this type of cooking, but I like using fruit juices. Apple juice is my favorite. The meat comes out with a moist and sweet flavor, unattainable by other methods. For Easter this year I did a turkey on the grill (we have a wood pellet grill) with pineapple juice and beer in the Sittin' Turkey, and quickly discovered that I will need to make more turkey next year for this crowd. They loved it.

In addition, the ceramic steamers are easy to clean. I rub a little vegetable oil on the outside before cooking to keep crusty bits from sticking, and simply throw them in the dishwasher when I'm done. I don't think I will ever go back to the old way of roasting poultry.

Have only used the smaller chicken base. Chicken came out great. Easy to fill cooker with whatever savory concoction one likes. Imparts nice flavor and moistness to the birds. Easy to clean. Should not have to pay for two Turkey cookers to get two Chicken cookers, though.

I use these on my big green egg. The chicken is great. Best of all, they are wide enough at the bottom that they do not tip over.

Have used this or just a can or a can holder for years, the only trick is to get the liquid you choose hot first then put your chicken on and cook. If you don't it takes too long for the liquid to steam and your chicken is done with no bennifit. I have never tried a turkey, I preferr mine deep fried.

Love this so far. Have only tried the chicken one so far but the chicken came out so flavorful and moist I was about speechless. Not sure it is was because I shoved some seasoning under the skin as well as out and inside the chicken but the flavor in EVERY piece of the meat was just incredible. I couldn't believe how moist it was also. Typically the breast seems to come out tasteless and a bit dry for me 70% of the time but this was a sure bulls eye. Can't say enough about how happy I am about this item and am looking forward to doing a small turkey. Oh, my first attempt was in the oven as well.

Kitchen Art Ham Dogger

Kitchen Art Ham DoggerI have been on a little bit of a hot dog kick lately and I decided to try this little gadget out. It seems cute and well made. I used 80/20 ground beef and sprayed the inside of the Ham Dogger with a non-stick spray. In order to keep the ham dog from falling apart I had to hand roll it into a cylinder before I put it in the mold. The ham dog shrunk quite a bit during cooking so if I had it to do over I might have used a 90/10 ground beef mix although the resulting ham dog would not have been as tasty as it was.

My final conclusion is that, although this is an inexpensive, nifty little item, I can roll a better hot dog shaped hamburger with my own hands. I decided to make this little video so that you can judge for yourself. I hope that it is helpful to you.

Much easier to just make thin patties and put two together. I guess it requires more than 9 words and now more words.

I never suffered the desire of some to have hamburgers and hot dogs all be of uniform size and shape and fit one universal bun.

I believe in diversity. In people, and in grill meats.

What I DID salivate and jump joyously for was the fact that now virtually anything that can hold its form (either raw or mixed with a breading or dough or semi-frozen) can now be dogged, dipped, and fried on a stick.

I am still going nuts with the possibilities, but turn anything you want into a meatball paste, and dip it in tempura or beer batter, and ooh Daddy. I also bake them to insure they're cooked through.

But I have indeed also gone old-school and made meat mix into a no-casing sausage and pan grilled the result, and plainly and simply, this product easily does as it promises.

Unique multi-piece design makes for a bit of a learning curve, but also makes for brilliant clean-up.

Since I saw and read how a little hot dog stand, that is inside the Olympic Golf Course, San Francisco, that plays the U.S. Open course, called Hot Dog Bill's Hamburger Stand is such a big hit with the golfers for over nearly 50 years, I thought I'd give it a try to recreate it.

In one of the articles that I read, it said that members at Olympic could buy a meat mold, like the one at Hot Dog Bills in their Golf Pro shop, but when I went to their web page, I guess if you are a non-member you are not going to able to buy it.

So the next best thing was to buy something like it here on Amazon. All I can say is, that it will take a little time to get use to it and to determine the right amount of ground beef to put into it so it doesn't over flow the tube, but after awhile I got the hang to it and was able to come up some hamburger dogs, like the ones that the Daughter that took over her father's business at Hot Dog Bills on the golf club makes and Boy! did they taste great!

I seasoned them up with a little lawry's season salt, added some fresh cut onions and some Trader Joes organic ketchup, and I was forced to eat two! Ha Ha yes there was a gun to my head ha ha ha

Your Kids Will Love Um!

Just make sure that you get the bigger, more sturdy type hot dog buns at the market as the ball park buns I used were just ok. On youtube , just type hamburger dog in search and or look up All-American Burger Dog!, still on Youtube with the fun teaching chef from foodwishes , who will show you how he cooks his and season it right.

One of my friends that I cooked one up for is going to purchase one for his family, something for a nice change if you are going to do backyard BBQ's or picnics... also can be used on a fry pan (and it's dishwasher safe)

All ready made a bunch up for today, the Labor Day Holiday

Update: 9/7/12 For those who are thinking to buy this product because you either read or saw on TV re: "Hot Dog Bill's" Hot Dog Stand that sells "Hamburger Dogs", and was looking to find their exact mold, then go to hotdogbills dot com (sorry I had to spell out dot com in luie of .com as I notice that amazon does not allow web sites in their reviews, so I hope you get the drift?) I still love my Ham Dogger, as Hot Dog Bill's sell thier H.D. Mold for over $25.00 over $30.00 for tax and shipping, but at least you can go to thier web site and just look at it and see the difference on how they make their Hamburger Dogs.

Hope you like this update?

This looked kind of gimmicky , but the reviews by the other customers moved me to try it. One of the reviews aid they used plastic wrap. I had some waxed burger paper sheets, so I thought I'd try them. I put the paper in the bottom, and added the hamburg, Then I pressed the meat, and after removing the rolled meat just rolled the paper around the rest of the meat, and put them in the freezer on a tray. When they were frozen I then put them in a freezer bag, for later use. Try it, it's a nifty little item, and it does a great job.

Black & Decker Infrawave Oven

Black & Decker Infrawave OvenI had a toaster oven that died so I began the typical online research trying to find the best bang for the buck.

I realize that online reviews are always subjective since you cannot ascertain the true ratio of "good to bad" experiences among the entire spectrum of customers, but only among those who are moved to write about it.

However, I noticed in reading reviews that experienced owners looking to replace older infrared-assisted ovens were disappointed to find that fewer and fewer companies offer them any longer to the consumer electronics market. Whereas on the commercial market, such as the restaurant industry, the technology has been used in larger Infrared ovens for many years.

The benefits claimed by the owners in using this technology for toaster ovens prompted me to find one if I could. I felt skeptical when I learned that "Black and Decker" was the original designer/manufacturer of the only surviving product line I found, not being a real B&D fan, myself.

Some of this product line is sold bearing the B&D badge but the same models may instead wear the "Applica" name. "Applica Consumer Products" bought the enire InfraWave line, back in 1998.

Anyway after contacting Applica by email and again by phone, I was convinced of the integrity of the unit and Applica's support. So I bought the FC300 unit for my wife and also the smaller FC150 for my mother, as Christmas gifts. I remain impressed with this oven to say the least.

The FC300 is larger than the FC150. After I saw the differences in size between the two units, I was glad I ordered the larger one for my wife. The smaller one is good for one person or "typical" toaster-oven duties, but if you use it for as many things as we do, the extra size is very nice.

The unit comes with a video CD that lets you watch various dishes being prepared, covering all aspects of use in step-by-step fashion. It has a paper manual as well, but the video is fast, helpful, and thorough.

The unit cooks faster than simple convection alone and offers automatic cooking time conversion. For example, you can input the conventional oven cooking instructions "verbatim" from the side panel of a frozen dinner, (time and temperature). If you select "convert", the InfraWave processor can automatically "shorten it" to cook via infrared as appropriate. Manual adjustment or intervention during a cooking cycle is also maintained as an option and easily done on the fly should you require some variation in order to meet your taste.

Surprises include the oven's abilities to cook foods to perfection that you might normally prefer to cook using another device. Chicken can be tender and juicy inside while browning the skin golden and crispy. Steaks can be broiled with excellent flavor and texture, (yes, I know the BBQ grill reigns supreme but try it on a rainy day and you will be pleasantly surprised).

Pre-heating is a thing of the past. You never do that anymore because this baby jumps right to work on frozen foods without delay. Frozen pizza is a no-brainer and the control panel has its own dedicated "pizza" button as well as individual buttons for other popular foods typically cooked in an oven.

You will be impressed with how this unit can just about replace your conventional oven for any foods that will fit inside it. The energy savings for using this unit as opposed to the full-sized oven are real, but even more valuable to us is the way the food is cooked faster and tastes better even with leftovers, (which won't taste like leftovers).

I believe that you can purchase one of these with confidence. So far it has been a great addition to our cooking apppliance arsenol. We've found it to be MUCH more than just a toaster oven!

I've owned 2 infrawaves: first the small one and the I got the large one with rotisserie. I absolutely love it! I cook everything in it! In fact since I remodeled my kitchen 5yrs ago the regular oven has only been used 4 or 5 times. We toast, reheat, make frozen pizza (the best you can make at home) and broil chicken, fish and meat. I've broiled frozen steaks many times and the results are simply remarkable. For cooking I mainly use "Convert": this feature let's you enter the traditional oven time and temperature as well as the type of food you are cooking, then you press Convert and voila! It gives you your new (and shorter) cooking time. Frozen pizza is cooked from top and bottom at the same time. Toast is ready incredibly fast. Everything you cook will be perfect. Get it while you can, you will never regret it.

We bought this oven a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. It actually toasts much faster than others on the market these days. We used it EVERYDAY. If not for toasting for warming leftovers. We have even had company ask where we got it so they could get one.......

So now 2 years later it is dead. At first the top coils stopped working then it sparked and died.

At this price point 2 years is not a long time! We won't get another one but we did love it!

Excellent product. This is our 2nd purchse of one of these ovens. The first one was smaller. It has lasted 7 years and still going strong, but my husband wanted a larger model (he does all of the cooking). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one of these ovens. We use it every single day.

This is such a powerful oven, it doesn't need to preheat. No time wasted, you just lay your food on the tray and press start, even if it's frozen, you don't have to wait 10 minutes for preheating! It is so useful, we end up leaning on it for everything and everyone who comes over, loves it! Our parents and in laws also bought it! You just have to be really good to it.. respect its power! My in laws didn't clean it for a while and the grease on the bottom tray started a small fire while they had a piece of chicken working in there! I know another couple who had theirs die on them because they didn't unplug it regularly. It shouldn't stay plugged in all the time. But it IS worth this light maintenance. From chicken to cookies to reheating pizza to burgers... really makes your life easier.

Mr. Bar-B-Q Tough Brush Grill Brush with 1 Extra Head

Mr. Bar-B-Q Tough Brush Grill Brush with 1 Extra HeadThe handle is comfortable and dimensions are good. The brush is sturdy and bristles tough enough to clean the grill. The materials are good, and it is nice to have the hook. The problem is that the head doesn't stay in place when you are using the brush. It falls about every 30 seconds. I may be able to make it work using duck tape (I haven't tried it) but the whole concept of having a repaceable head is that the head should stay in place when you use it.

This is a great brush for the short-term. Have had this 8 months, and though it is helpful to have a long handle, hook to hang it, stainless bristles, they are now falling off on the grill surface. If you miss one, it's like eating a fish bone. Found a bristle this past weekend in a hamburger....

Save your money. Nice that it comes with a replacement pad. But to little avail as both fell out after about three firm strokes on the grill . Very flimsy securing strategy. This one is made in China.....and trust me , this is not their best work . Run , don't walk away from this good looking deal. Tough brush ? ...... no. The worst I've ever owned.

This grill brush is far more sturdy than any I have purchased in the past. Usually, the bristles of the brush flatten and deform after just a few uses with other grill brushes that I have purchased. I grill quite a bit and this brush has made it through an entire grilling season and shows no signs of wear. The bristles are still rigid and on top of that the brush comes with a replacement head just in case. The brush also contains an over sized hook at the end for hanging it up. I highly recommend this product.

Fan Gear Fanmats Auburn University Grill Mat Size=26"x42" NCAA School -12103

Fan Gear Fanmats Auburn University Grill Mat Size=26'x42' NCAA School -12103I purchased this mat thinking it would look as big as the one in the picture, but this is very small. Second, my mat after measurement confirmation, mine was over an inch short. That may seem to be minute point, but for my project, size is everything, and if you advertise this, you need an accurate picture representing the actual size, and ship a product with the exact dimensions advertised. The angle on this picture gives you the impression the Collegiate strip is a certain size, but once received, it is also smaller. I promise I am not doing this to just complain, my expectations from the picture provided by the seller, were not met. That being said, this is considered false advertisement (to me) and I would not recommend this, unless if you really don't care about the above said issues.

Samsung FX710 30" Freestanding Gas Range with 5 Burners and Safety Lock, Stainless

Samsung FX710 30' Freestanding Gas Range with 5 Burners and Safety Lock, StainlessI bought this stove after doing a lot of research and some of the reviews were lackluster. Some complained that the oven didn't heat to the proper temperature or it was a different temperature than what the thermostat reads. One reviewer wrote that she spilled liquid on the top, enough so that it ran down through the top and made its way into the glass doors..........all I can say it must have been a lot of liquid because the burners are sealed and it would take a flood in order for enough liquid to get through the burners. Anyway, I suppose some could destroy an iron ball. Now, for my review. I ordered this during a labor day sale. I was actually going to buy the Samsung FX510 but since I was going to have to order it as well, I went with the nicer model that includes the griddle. All I can say is wow! The stainless steel has a nice thickness to it vs the traditional brands that are now made in places like Mexico and are flimsy. With my oven thermometer in hand, I tossed it into the oven and set the temp for 350*, then tried it at 425* and guess what, it is spot on so the oven on mine at least reflects what the temperature on the thermostat says. The plumber I had to install the gas line told me it's possible others experienced irregular heating problems from not having an adequate gas source. In other words, this isn't grandmas old gas stove. It's a high output range, 87,500 btu, and thus requires a comparable gas line. I had 3/4" installed to the stove as a 20' run of 1/2" doesn't supply enough cfh of gas to operate this stove at max capacity. The oven cooks precisely and evenly. The burners are outstanding and will bring water to a boil quicker than anything that I have used, ever! The power burner also has a smaller burner in the center of it so that the flame covers the entire bottom of the pot or pan being used. All I can say is if you are wanting a new gas range, this is the one. I couldn't be more satisfied.

I am very happy with this purchase eight months later. I love to cook and this gas range has been a pleasure to use.

I love the top being a grill of burners from one end to the other. The front right burner is the highest BTU and boils a pot of water 5-8 minutes. I use all of the five burners and really like how some provide specific functions (simmer burner in back right and middle for grilling). The digital face took some getting use to but easy once you read the directions.

The oven and broiler works just as smoothly. I love how the larger then average oven fits a lot of food. The spacious oven was the selling point for this range over others since cooking at the holidays always presents a challenge. This oven has performed well and held more turkeys, biscuits and other foods better then any other oven I've had in the past (GE, Kenmore Elite and Kitchen Aid).

I was leery of purchasing a Samsung kitchen appliance but figured since I love their tvs and other electronic devices, it was worth a shot) but have discovered the benefits of trying something new although I'll admit I cheated by checking Consumer Reports first and finding it rated well.

Buy Samsung FX710 30" Freestanding Gas Range with 5 Burners and Safety Lock, Stainless Now

Much like the reviewer above me, I've been very disappointed in this range. I too have an oven that can't hold it's temperature. I've noticed that when I set the oven at 350, a meal that used to take me an hour to cook (in my old oven) now takes well over that, and often ends up cooked on the outside and not cooked on the inside. I called the appliance store where I bought this unit, and the repair guy came out. He said that even though I've done the baseline's adjustment to raise the temp 30 degrees, the oven is running another 20 degrees low, however, this is "within normal range." He used a probe to get an accurate reading, and found temperature swings (with the oven set at 350) of a low of 290 and a high of 365. That averages out to a temperature of 335, and said that I should simply raise the temperature to compensate. However, when I do this, the oven goes high -if I set the oven at 400, it goes up to 425, and I can't seem to get it to stick between 350-400 degrees without wild fluctuations. I'm about to go head-to-head with the appliance store to try to get it replaced.

The burners are fantastic and cook evenly and well. But based on the horrible performance of the oven, I simply can't recommend this range.

Read Best Reviews of Samsung FX710 30" Freestanding Gas Range with 5 Burners and Safety Lock, Stainless Here

We read the reviews from previous buyers so we knew what to expect. However you do not need to hook up 3/4" we used standard 1/2" and have no problems with the stove top. The oven is another story, you have to work the calibration so it's correct. We put an oven thermometer to check the accuracy. Our is off by +15 which we can live with the manual shows you how to fix that so we're hoping that works. We also notice error codes when you use the proof button, chicken nuggets, and slow cook. Am waiting to hear from technician as to why I'm getting the codes. However it does not prevent me from using those features. With all new appliances to need to get the kinks out while breaking it in. My wife enjoys it and I've never seen her more happy since she got the oven. Her pineapple upside down cake came out perfect, My fresh made pizza came out without a hitch considering your high end appliance stores will make you dish out a little more..........

Want Samsung FX710 30" Freestanding Gas Range with 5 Burners and Safety Lock, Stainless Discount?

I've been using the 710 model for a few months now. I'll state my observations I've made so far:

The range looks great. It receives a lot of compliments and I'm happy it enhances the look of my kitchen.

It feels well constructed from the heft of the door and the solid feel of the door handle.

The burners all work well although I've had some delays in having the front left burner ignite, to the

point where you can smell unburnt gas. I haven't really looked into this issue to see if there's an adjustment that can be made

but for a range that's this new it was unwelcome.

The panel can be difficult to read, even to find the button for the oven light. I assume if I'd use it more often I'd be

more familiar with the button layout so I wouldn't have to be searching for what I want to press.

No issues with oven temps. I have a 3/4" OD line.

The arrangement of the burners is a personal preference but I would have preferred to have the smaller left rear burner on

the front and the large burner on the rear. I'm more likely to be cooking with a small pan more often then I am boiling a large

pot or using a large skillet. Who wants to reach to the rear of the range to stir a sauce pan?

The griddle is a nice feature and was a selling point for me, however it seemed to take a long to heat to a proper temp. The

instructions state to not use excessively high heat because you can warp the griddle. Kind of a catch-22. Once it did heat

up I felt it was using a lot more energy than say an electric griddle would to maintain the same temperature.

My biggest complaint is the burner grates themselves. If you look at the second photo you can see that the grates do not connect the

corners to the center. What happens is smaller/lighter pans do not sit level unless the handle is

aligned with the full grate at the 12/3/6/9:00 positions. This probably wouldn't be an issue if your pans are all very

heavy.

Overall it works, but if I were to buy again I'd look at other brands that have better grates, properly arranged and better designed controls.

These look cute online but they are very wide and difficult to skewer into things. The ends are dull and they look pretty cheap with metal remainders on them around most of the seams. All of that wouldn't be so bad if they did not rust the first time I washed them (I didn't even let them soak or anything strange, soap and water and drip dried in my dry rack). Do not get these, they are cheap and difficult to use. If you saw them in person, you would walk away, even at Amazons price.

Perfect Solutions Barbecue Fan with Light

Perfect Solutions Barbecue Fan with LightSounds like a great idea but in action hardly worth the money paid. The battery compartment is hard to access and requires you to remove 2 tiny screws and insert 4 "C" batteries which weigh down the unit. The light is barely adequate for the task and the fan is a joke, it doesn't remove the smoke and at times actually blows it towards you. I felt like returning it after the first use but repacking it and going to UPS just wasn't worth the time and effort. Save your money and buy a light without the fan for a lot less.
