Swissmar Raclette Dish Holders, Set of 4

I am regularly complaining about the cheap construction of new purchases but NOT on these raclette holders. They are built with excellent quality and a nice durable grade of metal. The raclette dishes fit perfectly with these very stable bases. Exceeded all of my expectations.

We have been hosting a big annual Raclette dinner at our house for years and it is always a lot of fun. However, toward the end of the feast there is always the question of what to do with the hot Raclette pans. Some guests put it on their plates, some on top of the grill, and some are absent-minded and actually place it next to their plates onto the tablecloth which I admit it does not make me happy.

When I saw these dish holders, I had to have them. These are well made, sturdy and fit our Swissmar Raclette pans perfectly. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because I don't like the 4 visible screws at the bottom of the holder. They make the holders look too utilitarian and since I usually decorate my table nicely when I host a dinner, this is a bit of a letdown in the design department. But they do the job and that is the most important thing anyway. If you like Raclette, you will find these holders to be indispensable. 4.5 stars if that were possible.

We love to use the Raclette, but the problem is where to put the utinsils when not in use the plate or the table? If you set them on the table you risk getting the tablecloth or placemat dirty. If you set them on your plate you can run out of room on the plate. This is the perfect answer.

Ceramic Marble Coated Cast Aluminium Non Stick Fry Pan 30cm(12 inches)

I loved this pan. When I went back to Amazon to buy another one, I saw a review by someone stating there was a warning about Phthalates AND Lead. That did not make much sense to me knowing it was made in Korea where people have gotten highly educated about and sensitive to toxins. But, I wasn't going to risk my family's health. Too bad, I thought, as it really is one of the best pans I have ever used. Then, I found and bought a set of Instant Lead Tests (by Lead Check) sold by Amazon and tested the pan I had at home. The result: NO LEAD. As to Phthalates (DEHP), I don't know how to test for it, but I don't see how DEHP, a primary plasticizer for PVC, would be on the cooking surface meant for high temperature operation. Maybe the handle tested positive for it? Given the type of hard material used for the handle, I don't think it is a high risk area, if any. So, guess what, I am buying another ceramic marble coated pan!

My husband never forgave me for throwing away his favorite non-stick pan. In searching for a safer alternative to teflon, we came across this pan, which seemed like a safer option. Sadly, upon receipt, we noticed the following disclaimer on the product packaging: "State of California Prop. 65 WARNING This product contains DEHP, a Phthalate Chemical, Lead and other Chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm." Use at your own risk. I'll be returning mine.

They feel solid, and are exactly as described.

I still find that I need to use a little oil or pam spray, but that is fine. These are good quality pans at a great price

I'm always being distracted by numerous things when I cook and as a result have walked away after or before cooking with flame still burning under the pan, ruining every pan I've ever used. This last time,.. after preparing breakfast, I emptied my bacon & eggs from this Ceramic Marble coated pan, heard the phone ring in my computer room where I took my breakfast to eat, and answer the phone. After finishing my breakfast and phone call,(a good 25 minutes), there was a burning smell. I ran back through the smoke filled house to remove the pan from the stove. I thought,..Oh No!,..another new pan ruined!

After abusing the pan on medium high (3/4) for at least 25 minutes,..I was shocked to see it clean up so easily with just a damp paper towel, and even though there was an 8" area in the center of the pan that was slightly darker than the rest,..it STILL retains it's excellent non-stick properties.

You could spend a whole lot more and still not get something comparable to this very affordable high quality pan.

I realized after a few uses that the pan looks just like the "stone line" pans being sold on TV. I assumed the pan would be heavy since it's got a marble coating but it's surprising light. I cook all types of food on it, and am very impressed with the performance. It cooks evenly, does not require oil or spray, but I add some for flavor. Made eggs sunny side up with two drips of grapeseed oil, added cheese and when the edges curled up, I was able to slide the eggs from the pan onto the plate, no utensils! Cleanup is as easy as rinsing with warm soapy water and a paper towel. Buy it before the price goes up, it's the only pan you'll need.

I was tipped off to these by my parents... who always burn the meat. They got these and found they were making the best steak they'd ever grilled. I bought some for pan frying, and realized while a little more difficult to see, they work just as well for pan frying.

When many people think of thermometer, they think "oh we're talking about food safety". Well, yes, but that really wasn't my goal here. My goal was the perfect medium well steak, and this is the way to your goal. Put the thermometer in from the side, leave it in there while grilling or frying, and I guarantee you, your steak will be done _exactly_ the way you want it.

A must have, and very affordable.

These are handy little thermometers to use for oven, bbq or camper. I got tired of spendinmg $22 for digital only to break the probe every month. Bought these to get back to basics and they work well. They are smaller than I am used to but plenty big enough for the cuts of meat I'm cooking (cx breast, burgers, etv).

I slow-roasted a nice hunk of beef on the Weber for 5 hours using indirect heat and this tool allowed me to grill it to PERFECTION without having to constantly check and guess.

The only complaint is that the lenght is a little long. If you aren't doing a roast or something huge, this could go right in one side and out the other!

But you can make it work ;)

I purchased these as I wanted individual grill thermometers that actually had temperature numbers (not just a range rare, medium, well etc.) which are hard to find. Despite looking promising, I inserted into a steak. It immediately shot up off the scale, indicating a food temperature of near 200 from what I could tell. I removed, reinserted and moved it to different spots. It read pretty much the same. I cross checked with a digital grill thermometer I have and the same spot read 115 degrees which was much closer to the truth. I used the same digital thermometer before and it is accurate. For this reason I can't recommend the Kingsfords.

These are not accurate. I tried them out on some steaks I was grilling. The temperature read 140 when the steaks were on the grill long enough to be cooked medium, which should have given a reading of 160. I'm just glad that I knew how the steaks were cooked from experience. Not recommended. For what I paid for them, they are not even worth returning.

I bought my first set of T-Fal nonstick cookware about four years ago. They consisted of a three pan set an 8 inch 10 and 11 half inch non-stick frying pans that sold for $27.00 on Amazon. These pans were a pleasure to own. I used the 10 inch pan exclusively for making eggs of all sorts and I probably made 1000 eggs in that frying pan and it lasted a good 3 1/2 years before the non-stick surface wasn't as non-stick anymore. This is why I opted to buy these 12 inch T-Fal pans.

These pans are easy to take care of, all you have to do is use common sense and do not use anything abrasive on the insides and you could scrub the outsides to your heart's content to keep them looking new.

As long as T-Fal is allowed to keep making these pans I will buy them forever and day with no regret. I recommend them highly. They are priced right and they last with a little common sense care.

Maverick RediFork Pro Rapid Read LCD Matrix Thermometer

I BBQ several times a week and have learned the importance of reliable equipment, especially when friends are over. I bought the Maverick RediFork Pro because it has lots of cool features such as a backlit LCD display and "headlight" for nighttime grilling. Unfortunately, my results with the Maverick were disastrous. After a couple of embarrassing cook-outs and expensive "mis-steaks", I decided to perform some controlled tests on it and similar forks from CDN, BarbequePro, and TruCook. In addition to the forks, I also tested a simple single-probe digital thermometer, the Taylor #806 Weekend Warrior.

Using hot water, a control thermometer, a stopwatch, and fresh batteries in each unit, I tested for speed and accuracy. My results: the Maverick RediFork Pro was the slowest, most inaccurate, most expensive, and most confusing to use of all units tested. The Maverick took an agonizingly-long 110-120 seconds before its display settled on a temperature. Worse yet, it read under the actual temperature by 25-35 degrees; the reason my steaks were overcooked. Just to make sure I did not have a defective unit, I bought another Maverick RediFork Pro but the test results were identical.

For many reasons, an accurate digital thermometer reading (i.e. +/2 degrees) shouldn't take more than a few seconds. Therefore, the Maverick RediFork Pro is deemed completely unacceptable in my testing. The other forks were not much better and the dirt-simple Taylor 806 was the only product to take an accurate reading in under 10 seconds. Conclusion: Keep it simple with a digital probe; avoid gimmick-laden digital BBQ forks.

This is a great tool for the grill. It is the easiest one to use I have found. The readout is a grid which tells you how done any piece of meat is based on the temp this allows you to check different things on the grill (i.e. chicken and beef) without having to reprogram the fork. Plus the readout is backlit and it has a light to help when grillin at night. The only negative is that it is not water resistant so you have to be careful washing it. I got water in mine when washing it one time, and now it is somewhat temperamental sometimes when checking the temp on the grill, it goes blank, and I have to pull out my old one to get a reading. I still recommend this one just be careful when cleaning it!!

I bought this hoping it would give fast & accurate readings. Well it does give fast readings, but it is often wrong (up to 10 degrees). And yes I had the tip copper tip all the way inside the meat so none of it was showing. I have three OTHER digital thermometers they all read the same. The RediFork is the only one off the mark. The small hand held TruTemp thermometer I have takes too long to reach actual temp. I lose to much heat out my BBQ waiting for it to read. So I thought the RediFork would be the answer. It is not. And there are other things about the RediFork I don't like. The screen is filled with too many symbols. The most important number (the temp) is too small. They should get rid of the symbols and make the Temp number bigger. The handle of the Fork is too big as well. I have already returned the item.

I am a avid online shopper. I do a lot of research before making a purchase. If you are in the market for a great digital fork, stop shopping and just buy this one as you won't be disappointed. Now my steaks

are perfect, not over cooked and not raw either. I love BBQ-ing and this fork takes all the guess work out if it. Just poke it in the steak wait till it beeps, then glance down and look at the "EZ to READ" display".

If you like med.rare pull them off when it reads 131F.

This is a wonderful thermometer! We have used this thermometer, probably, every other day for years and haven't had any problems. We use it not only for grilling but also for indoor cooking as well. We use it mostly for cooking fish or steaks and it has never steered us wrong. I do agree with the other reviewer that says not to get it wet as it may cease to work, but going in with that expectation you should be very happy with the results!

Oster CKSTGRFM18 9 by 20-Inch Folding Griddle

We got this griddle being very excited that it was dishwasher safe and foldable. Those are the only good things about this griddle. The plug does not fully stay in the griddle and I have to push it up against a wall to hold it in place otherwise the plug falls out and the griddle doesn't work. Even when it is shoved up against a wall, the plug won't fully engage which causes a host of headaches. Another wonderful feature is that due to the folding mechanism, both sides do not heat evenly so one side will burn my pancakes, while the other side will not cook them. Overall this was a terrible buy and I would not recommend this product to anyone. It seems appealing because of storage, washing, etc. but lets face it, you want a griddle that works and this does not. If you've ordered it, keep your receipt and send it back. I foolishly threw mine away banking on the good name of Oster. I was sorely disappointed.

It was a gift to our son and family . They love it ! It is easy to clean and to put away . It fits in smaller places,and cooks evenly.

Totally agree with above. I had identical problems. Doesn't fit in dishwasher, and more importantly doesn't work. Power device does not attach correctly and the power goes off and on making it almost impossible to cook anything. The heating, when it does work is so uneven you will want to scream in frustration. I was surprized as my last Oster griddle was great. After last use I was so aggravated I too threw the griddle away in order to force mayself to buy a new one. To put further sting on this experience, when I went on Amazon to buy a different one I found the original order and realized that the griddle I had ordered was not the one I recieved from 3rd party seller steamertrunkbooks.This was back in May and now is too late for me to do anything about it. My own fault for not realizing it was the wrong one. Buyer beware...Bottom line, the one I ordered was one I had previously and it was great for cooking though a bit involved to keep clean.

MIU France Stainless Steel Perforated Turner, 14-Inches

I was happily surprised by how heavy duty this turner feels.

This is not a flimsy tool.

Very solid construction... seems to be commercial type quality. Definitely big so won't fit into smaller pans but does great on the grill or for flipping a few things at once on the griddle. Very happy with purchase... based on the quality I expect it will last a long time.

3 Inch Large Smoker Thermometer

If you buy this thermometer, you will have to pay $20-30 at the hardware store for a 13/16" drill bit. Bits this large normally require a 1/2" drill chuck. Most people have a 1/4" or 3/8" drill, so get ready to buy (or borrow) a larger drill. Amazon sells 2" Old Smokey thermometers that only require a 3/8" hole.

Installed the thermometer on my Weber grill so I can monitor the temperature while I'm smoking meat (with the Smokenator add-on). Works great. Big dial is easy to read, and I really like the color coded areas.

I needed a good temperature gauge for my new BBQ Smoker. The one that came with it was a joke.. I tested this temp gauge with a small boiling pan of water (water boils at 212 degrees, If it's 211, it's still water, if it's 213, it's steam..) I placed the temp gauge probe through a double sheet 6" x 6" heavy duty aluminum foil between the round gauge and the water so the steam wouldn't effect the test. Held the tip in the water with a set of kitchen tongs. The gauge hit 211 degrees and held steady.. Now I'm ready to smoke some awesome bbq !

Whirlpool WF183SM1 18" High Velocity Stand Fan

I do indeed use the rotating axle mode most of the time. The tilting head is very sturdy and a real bonus for a standing fan to point down. I use an air compressor to clean the fan so its not a problem but access to blades could be considered difficult. I find it oddly attractive for what it is. Its industrial design is softened by clean lines and attractive finish to all the components. I will buy another one soon.

This fan is much better than the regular oscillating fans at circulating the air in my apartment. The fan motor oscillates the blades inside the cage while the everything else is stationary. And it goes up and down as well as side to side. It moves all the air in the room and is fairly quiet. Dust doesn't seem to stick to the metal cage so much as the plastic fan I had before. It runs at 67 watts which is about the same as a light bulb. It was easy to assemble but the thumbscrew that attaches the fan to the base pole would not thread. I don't feel it's a problem. I'm very happy with this fan.

I have had a Lasko oscillating fan in my bedroom which serves to;

1. Circulate the air when I'm going to sleep (I can't stand it when there isn't air circulating, for whatever reason).

2. To help the moisture in my shower stall dry out quicker so I don't have mold growing in my bathroom, because the exhaust fan (like in most apartments) barely removes the moisture from it.

The Lasko does okay, but I wanted something sturdier since it's a cheap, $20.00 Wal-Mart special, and it doesn't quite blow enough air.

The Whirlpool blows the Lasko out of water, just on the low setting! I like the idea that the air circulates without it actually moving left and right from the base itself, and it almost gets as much range as one that does. This is also a plus if you have a tight space that you'd like to have the most exposure to the circulation.

I also like the fact that it's got a metal grill and blades. I'm not a fan of the plastic ones, and it seems like just a day after I clean off the dust on the fan, the layer just builds right back up again.

The Whirlpool has ran for about three days now, and no dust. Plus, because it's running better on low than the Lasko, I can actually shut it off for a while!

The only thing that I was disappointed with when it first arrived was the fact that the base was plastic. I kinda thought, "Really? The fan weighs more than the base? Really?" But then I assembled it, and I guess it's alright. It's a little disheartening too, because the base doesn't really look like it's plastic from the pictures (even in the video) and I thought that paying the money I did, would have meant it wasn't.

I'm not going to send it back though, because it's doing a much better job than the Lasko did.

This one is slightly louder than the 12 & 14"er's, but it also has much more potential for creating pressure over a larger area. i bought these fans to help make my air conditioning more efficient throughout the house. We also use them to develop a breeze for when the tradewinds go away. wonderful fan, and worth the money.
