It's heavy and dead-flat. What can you say about a griddle except that it does exactly what you wish a griddle would do. There are no hot-spots, and the handle stays cool. (The Calphalon Contemporary handles are big, and may get in the way occasionally -but they stay very cool.)

One thing, though -the non-stick surface is *really* non stick. Make an omlette and it'll spread over just about the whole bottom of the pan in no-time-flat -which is just great, so long as you like really thin omlettes. Over-easy eggs can be a bit tricky because it's so slippery -it's not that easy to get the spatula underneath! (Part of that's because plastic and coated spatulas are thicker than metal ones.) One time I almost pushed an egg right off the griddle and onto the stovetop. But anyone who's ever had something stick to a griddle will not complain that nothing can stick.

Cleanup is strange. It just doesn't get dirty. I've only had this awhile, but I've used it twenty times, and the nonstick is not only still in perfect condition, it doesn't even show the "bright spots" that, with high-quality non-stick cookware, indicates some mechanical burnishing. I think this will last forever.

I have a cheap griddle same size, and now have this Calphalon one. BIG difference. Much better heat distribution, better teflon = easier clean. Handy for bacon (may need to pour of drippings if a lot of bacon), grilled sandwiches, pancakes, eggs.

I purchased this griddle In August of 2006 and use it every Sunday. There is alot i like about the pan, but one huge problem is it warped. I know you are not suppose to put a hot pan in cool water because that will cause this to happen, but I did not do that. I have a smooth glass top surface to my stove so a warped pan is not good. I do have to say the heat still conducts though the pan to give me even cooking thoughout.

I received a set of the Calphalon Contemporary as a gift and the only thing I felt I was missing was a griddle, so I had to order this one from Amazon. This griddle pan has been wonderful. I use it for everything! Most times, I just wash it and put it right back on the stove since I know I'll be needing it again right away. I can fit 6-8 pieces of bacon on it at a time, 4 pieces of toast, or 4 rather large pancakes. It's a dream come true if you fix breakfast often. It's the best money I've spent in my kitchen and I would highly recommend it!

I had an inexpensive square teflon griddle which performed adequately but began to deteriorate from surface wear. I elected to go with the Calphalon brand as I owned other Calphalon pieces which perform quite well. Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N700

Whoever thought out all the design features on Logitech's Speaker Lapdesk should be given an award, because there isn't one thing they left out. This is SUPERB if you don't like being chained to a desk, and you're tired of a hot lap from your laptop.

It's simply flawless.

I tried this on my 15" Macbook Pro, and in a few days of working with the Logitech Lapdesk and its features, it's become my new favorite laptop must-have.

First of all, there's no external power source, no batteries and no adapter. All you do is unwrap it, put it on your lap with the laptop, plug it into the USB port, and you're good to go. That simple.

Now for the delicious design features. The Lapdesk top tilts towards you, with two cushioned tabs on the end towards your body that you pop up to keep the puter from sliding into your lap. This means there's practically nothing you can do to make the puter fall off so put you legs up on an ottoman, bend your knees on the ottoman, lay on the couch with the Lapdesk almost vertical (yeah, I do that), and nothing's going to move!

There are two little nobby things included in the package you can snap onto the grill under the laptop to raise it up if that's your preference. If you have a netbook, you can move the stops closer to you to give your netbook the same desired tilt.

The padding on this Lapdesk is just divine. And whoever picked out the plush fabric that cushions the Lapdesk on your legs is a genius! The padding is ample and lush; you can keep this on your lap for eternity, and you won't get tired or "hot" from it. The fabric is textured and has a sumptuous feel to it. The texture also keeps the Lapdesk anchored to your legs, but there's nothing sticky or sweaty-feeling about it. (I did this dry-run in shorts, so the padded part of the desk was mostly on bare legs. Absolutely no problems.)

The Lapdesk isn't just a padded wedge, though. It's got this brilliant "tunnel" effect under it, which allows air circulation and prevents that hot and heavy "laptop in your lap feel.

There's an ingenuous fan built into the center of the Lapdesk. It draws the heat and pushes it out through a vent in the BACK of the Lapdesk. You have to keep checking to see if it's on, because the fan is THE quietest fan I've ever NOT heard. It's perfection the way it works and you don't even know it's doing its job.

I usually use a compact external speaker system with my Macbook, and it works fine. But the speakers on the Logitech Lapdesk are EXCELLENT. There's a mesh grilling on both sides of the Lapdesk with your laptop fitting in the center. The actual speakers are embeded at the top left and right of the Lapdesk (you're also told to keep your fingers off them, for obvious reasons.)

The sound on these two tiny speakers is phenomenal! All I can do is gape in astonishment how two speakers tucked into a lapdesk can produce such amazing sound! Rich, separated, diverse, like a full sound system set up, in this Lapdesk! It completely makes the sound of my external speakers sound wimpy and whiney in comparison.

I guarantee, you will be amazed that any sound that luxurious can come out of a Lapdesk!

(A tip for Mac users who might hook up the Lapdesk and wonder why there's no sound coming out: you have to go to System Preferences/Sound under the apple menu, and select the Logitech Lapdesk as the speaker set up you want. You also have to quit OUT of any sound programs BEFORE you hook the Lapdesk up to the USB port.)

The size of the Lapdesk is perfect for my 15" Macbook. There's about three inches, give or take, on either side, where the speakers are, and the Macbook doesn't interfere with it.

On the right side is a control panel. The top two buttons are for volume control, the third is a mute button. The last switch is an on/off slider for the fan.

Whoever at Logitech designed this deserves a promotion and a raise. There isn't a thing they missed in the design, and the quality is just superb.

I have one minor quibble, but for laptop acrobats like me who are always moving the thing around, it's a useful idea for future Logitech Lapdesk incarnations. A stop on the BACK of the Lapdesk might be a good thing, similar to the two on the front. Granted, most people probably don't contort themselves while on their laptop the way I do, and the Macbook didn't fall off the Lapdesk while I was engaging in my various exercises, but a tab on the back of the Lapdesk would provide an extra jot of security.

The Logitech Speaker Lapdesk is probably the best computer accessory pick for anyone who uses their laptop computer anywhere but ON a desk. Kudos to Logitech for a comfort and design home run!

Everyone in my home now uses a Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N700. In November, I purchased this lapdesk for myself because my laptop speakers are lousy. As soon as my hubby saw it, he said he needed one too. His laptop usually gets hot & he listens to music all the time. My daughter's laptop speakers are even worse than mine & she always listens to music on hers. So they each rec'd this lapdesk for Christmas. Our OS: Windows XP sp3; Vista with all updates, and Windows 7 (I've delayed installing SP1).

Our findings:

~~What bothered my hubby most is using headphones with this lapdesk's fan. He's the only one in the family that uses headphones & found the problem soon after he began using it. Thanks to Lan's review posted on March 1st, my hubby is now able to use the cooling fan & headphones at the same time. I'll post how to do this using Windows 7, which is the OS on my laptop, at the end of my review.*

~~I have trouble using the lapdesk on my lap because I'm short...I don't have enough lap. My daughter & hubby are both average height & have no problems. I usually use the lapdesk on my desk so it's okay with me...and I find the slight tilt to my laptop makes typing easier for me.

~~I would like more room for a mouse or a pull-out table for the mouse. Currently, I push my laptop over to one side & make do with the room I have; it's not ideal but it does work.

~~The lapdesk is on the heavy side; my daughter is always carrying the lapdesk and her laptop to other areas which is awkward & looks a bit comical because the lapdesk's weight, 5 lbs., & size approx 20.5" x 12" x 3".

~~I use the Belkin USB 2.0 4-Port Ultra Mini Hub F5U407 with the lapdesk to provide more USB ports.

~It's simple to use; just plug & play.

~We all like the sound.

~The fan is whisper quiet!

~It's very comfortable to use on your lap & works nicely on a desk too.

All in all this is a great lapdesk, but could use a few more features to make it absolutely the best lapdesk ever.

I've had this desk for about a month now. It has some serious benefits and some bothersome disadvantages

The good:

1. Fits perfectly in my chair on my lap and has room for a mouse (sort of, see below).

2. The fan is quiet

3. The fan works very well on my laptop which has had overheating problems even on just plain flat surfaces.

4. It is very, very sturdy

5. It was pure plug and play, even for my old laptop.

The not so good

1. It is light by itself, but with the laptop and the weight distributed over a relatively small area, it feels a bit on the heavy side.

2. The shape is such that it pulls air in from both behind and beneath. That means that it needs to create space beneath the tray. The padding at the back of this creates a very narrow padded edge that rests on my legs. The combination of the fabric texture and the weight makes it uncomfortable after a while.

3. The angle on your lap puts the tray higher at the rear than the front. Necessary for air flow, but using an external mouse is basically impossible because a mouse slides off no matter what posture I assume. Yes, I'm a mouser.

4. Using a mouse pad is only a partial fix for the above, and it blocks a speaker. I trimmed an old one to fit, but the mouse still slips off now and then and I have to fish it out of my chair.

5. Sound quality is just okay a bit on the muddy side with insufficient treble for listening, but music sounds decent and if I'm working, critical listening is not a priority.

I had an old "as seen on TV" lap desk that had a beanbag bottom. It was very comfortable, had room for the mouse, and it would lay flat. Its durability was awful, which is why I chose this item.

I'm keeping the Logitech and actually do recommend it. I'll look for a higher-friction mouse pad and hope the rear padding doesn't tattoo my legs.

I didn't even know how much I needed this Lapdesk w/ built-in stereo until I tried it. I was always putting my laptop on the floor, bed, couch and it usually got overheated after a while. This product fixes that problem, plus the added bonus of a great stereo sound system.

The padded mesh base of the Lapdesk is very comfortable on your lap. There's enough cushioning and there's no heat transfer from the laptop because the internal fan keeps it cool. There's also no worry about the laptop overheating when it's placed on the carpet, bed, etc. The fan is very quiet and turns off automatically when you turn the computer off. (You can also turn off the fan manually) Two rubber tabs are included to raise the computer even more to let additional air circulate.

The base raises the laptop to a comfortable level for typing and viewing the screen whether you're using it on your lap or setting it on the floor. Two rubberized, pull-out tabs in the very front of the base secure the laptop and keep it from sliding forward.

Both my 13" and 15" (a PC and a Mac) laptops fit perfectly and felt very stable and secure on the base. No sliding, slipping or wobbling at all, even with my Mac Book Pro which has a smooth bottom.

The built-in stereo speakers are such a great feature because the speakers in my laptop have a barely average sound. When I played songs from my music library and some movie DVD's, the sound quality from the Lapdesk speakers was very impressive. I'm always watching movies on my laptop and now the sound quality rivals my HDTV. There are also easily-accessible buttons on the right side of the base to raise, lower or mute the sound.

The Lapdesk connects to the computer via a single USB plug and uses the computer's power, so there are no other plugs or adapters needed. There's also no software or installation required which I appreciated. I don't notice any significant drain on my computer's battery life when using the base.

This product is extremely well-designed, ergonomic, well-made and has the kind of helpful features people who use their laptops often really need. My laptop hasn't left my Lapdesk since I got it. Well worth the price. Great product! 5 stars.

(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)The Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N700 is definitely a luxury and an imperfect product. The sound improvement is not nearly as good as desktop computer speakers. Still, it is an improvement over most internal speakers. Similarly, the cooling is not the best out of the available coolers out there. And the comfort of this unit as a lapdesk is also not the greatest. But the combination of all these features in one unit make this a serviceable product.

PROS:

++ Sound is a step-up from internal laptop speakers

++ Fabric bottom is thick enough and provides some friction for stability

++ Integrated fan provides minimal cooling for your laptop

++ Fan is extremely quiet

The weight of this unit may bother some people, as it is a little heavy. This wasn't a huge issue for me but your mileage may vary. The weight and design will prevent some smaller people from using it comfortably in their laps. Those with a smaller laptop or a netbook should definitely consider the Logitech N550 Speaker Lapdesk. It will accommodate up to a 13 inch laptop, like the Apple MacBook Pro MC700LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop, or anything smaller. Just keep in mind that the N550 has no fan for active cooling, while the N700 does.

Comfort is an issue with all of these lapdesks. This unit has the thick padding and curved back that is shared by the Logitech N500 Comfort Lapdesk. That unit includes no cooling or speakers.

CONCLUSION

This is a good product that is a jack of all trades, but it's worth the compromises. It has some flaws, and it's not great in any one area. But the combination of features is unique. There's nothing else quite like it and I recommend it. Just try to get it on sale if possible.

CucinaPro 1448 12 Inch Griddle & Crepe Maker

I wanted to make dessert crepes and purchased this because of the price. This baby works like a charm! Takes about 5 minutes to heat up and man it gets hot! For best results, put it on level 2 or 3 and pour the batter right in the center. That way you got time to spread the batter around the surface before it firms up. Try to control the thickness of the crepe because you don't want it spongy. You want it as thin as possible.

Other points to note:

1. The only way to clean it is to use a cloth and wipe the surface clean.

2. The included spreader is very good. Maybe a bit too big for it, but it works great.

3. You don't need to buy a wooden spatula or anything like that. A regular plastic spatula works great. The crepes don't stick to the surface even without spray or butter.

4. The edge of the surface is elevated. This is not like traditional, larger crepe makers which are totally flat allowing for the crepe to be handled by a straight spatula. This isn't a downside though because it can keep the batter from dripping down the side.

Overall this is an amazing crepe maker for the money. You won't be disappointed.

There is not much more than I can say. This is a fantastic crepe maker. I have used the villaware flip over and the pans and never enjoyed making crepes like I do with this maker. It takes a little practice using the spreader but when you get it, you will make perfect crepes every time. I used to love going to the pier in San Francisco and getting crepes, now in Florida I really missed that. The only thing I can mention about this is to thin your batter a little bit. This will help the spreading of the crepe. It also makes some of the best pancakes around as you can really control the temperature well.

I have been looking for a crepe maker for a long time now and finally found this one online. The price is what drew me to purchase the CucinaPro 1448 12 Inch Griddle and Crepe Maker. When I received this I was a little worried to open the box because it was shipped only with its original manufacturer's box and not placed in a shipping box. The box was a little beat up. However, the crepe maker was unharmed. It had styrofoam packing materials so the crepe maker was not damaged.

I was skeptical at first if it would function like the crepe makers I see in crepe restaurants, but after my first try I was really impressed. It heats up fast and it has an indicator that tells you it is ready. It does not stick and produces a well-shaped crepe approximately 12-inches in diameter. It came with an instruction booklet and basic crepe recipe. It also has a wooden crepe spreader, so you would not have to buy one. Buying separate spreader can cost you at least $15.00 so that is money you can save and use for ingredients! Furthermore, it is easy to clean and lightweight. I use it to make crepes for my family. I make breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert crepes with this one. A lot better than doing it in a pan. It's a great conversation piece whenever I am entertaining friends and family. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a crepe maker that works and easy on the wallet!

Had it for 4 weeks now, and love it. The only thing I wonder about is the thermostat; anything over 2.5 is too hot,and you wont have time to spread the batter out before it gets to hard. But that's OK, just set it at 2 or a little above, and everything is fine.

The recipe in the manual is not really for a real "French" crepe though, this is the basic recipe you should use:

10-12 crepes

50g (scant half stick) butter, melted

4 eggs, regular size

2 teaspoons of sugar

a pinch of salt

250g (9 oz) of flour

and 1/2 liter (2 cups) of milk

Mix dry ingredients then add eggs milk and butter and let rest for at least 1/2 hour before using.

I use it mostly for breakfast crepes, and I recommend trying it. Immediately after you flip the crepe over, quickly, and I mean quick, add cheese, some diced ham, some chopped tomato (remove seeds first), and an over easy egg. Then fold the 4 "sides" over so it becomes a square package. Remove and serve.

Use whatever stuff you have, like seafood, sausage, mushrooms, herbs...

Make a batch and practice using the wooden spreader before trying to impress on your friends and family. It takes some time getting the hang of it. And remember: THIN crepes! We are not making flap jacks here...

I passed a crepe snack shop up at San Francisco a couple of weeks ago and stopped and bought a fruit crepe, and it was incredible and I found myself wishing to be able to have these tasty treats when I could whenever I wanted. You can of course make pancakes as well on this if you want there's no reason not to and it works fine doing that as well but if you're like me and bought this for a more easy way to make crepes than just use the standard frying pan for pancakes and leaves this for the crepes, also for first time makers like myself who have no recipes on how to make real crepes the manual with the machine will give you two recipes to make crepes but if you want more this site has some great crepe recipe books for affordable prices or you could just go to your regular book store and buy one as well. So for people who have had the craving for crepes or have tried them at crepe snack shops and like myself now want to make crepes themselves here's a great item for your home to try out....

I purchased these for my Char-Broil Bistro Patio Grill. I put them on my grill and hung the tools. They worked great...until I turned the grill on! The heat from the grill melted the glue that holds the magnet onto the hook. I am very disappointed since these are ruined shortly after I put them on the grill. They should not be advertised for use on the grill, if they can't withstand the heat.

As long as you have a metal surface that isn't going to get hot to stick these to, they'd be great. Unfortunately, the grill I have (the Char-Broil Patio Caddy) doesn't have any part like that -if you stick these to the body of the grill anywhere, they melt and fall off.

I tried using it on the control panel, and it kind of works, but the angle isn't great and the tongs tend to pull the hook off pretty easily.

These are excellent fondue forks, dishwasher safe, comfy in the hand, and elegant looking. I have both the "meat" forks (two barbed tines) and the "cheese" forks (three fork-like tines). The "meat" forks are superior for everything I have tried (bread, fruit, meat, etc) because they stab into the food easily and hold onto it. The "cheese" forks look nice and I haven't had any food fall off, but there's more effort required to spear your food. The "meat" style are best. Also, the "meat" style have little numbers on the butt of the handle for telling your fork apart from everyone else'sthe "cheese" do not. Amazon accidentally shipped me the "dark wood handles" version for one of my forks, so I got to look at those before returning themthey look a little cheap and not as nice. Also obviously not dishwasher safe. So go for black handles, "meat" style.

Nice set of forks. Solid, a little heavy (which you expect in a fondue fork if its built well). Long, thin, SHARP points. The wood feels nice too.

Only one complaint. The numbers 1-6 are cut into the ends of the handles, and you cant see them in dim light. They really need some white inlaid paint or something to make the numbers stand out.

A great firepit for backyard fires. Once it is all bolted up it is deceptively solid. The wheels look dicey at first. But for rolling around the yard they are fine. The doors needed just a little tweaking, but they are its best feature. Very easy to add full sized fireplace logs to and very secure around pets and kids. A natural focal point for parties so far this holiday season. We expect it will easily last many years. Very good fit and finish. A good impression of quality.

I have built two fires so far in this fireplace and it is fantastic. Its very large and was easy to assemble.

I just dumped my old fireplace portable pit in the landfill. It lasted near 20 years. We did keep it covered during the winter months as we live in CT. It was outside for twenty years for many years of fires. Make sure you put play sand (or beach) in the bottom so it does not fire up the metal but the sand! This will also add to the stability. I saw a nice add on in another review and that was to add a few holes where the screen and base meet up to make sure the screen does not move when putting wood in, or adjusting the fire. It also gives a sense of security not having to think the whole thing could topple over and burn your deck etc. I liked the idea, and the drill is out for the tweak. This burner is just the pits!!! Ha Ha.

This thing is poorly built, very light, and over priced. The one I received was delivered with the box in great shape, no crunches or holes, but when I opened it the metal was bent and the paint chipped. I was able to straighten the bends with my hand!!! The fit is loose and poor, the side doesn't fit securely in the base and the cover doesn't fit right either. The grate was similar to but much lighter than that of a charcoal grill. I didn't use it because it wouldn't hold up firewood, which is what this is supposed to burn. I used the grate from my old Coleman patio fireplace that you can't buy anymore. Stay away!

contained the fire just great. i burned some wood in it and it was great at holding the fire inside. it assembled pretty easily but it is very flimsy. but you can't have everything as it is a great buy for the price. i can't see it lasting super long though as it could possibly break or rust in the future. i would still reccommend this though as it is a great bang for the buck and serves the pupose of a cool fire for some relaxing fun.

Deion Sanders' Hot Dog Express is an obvious attempt to exploit the wild success of George Foreman's grills, however Deion was not savvy enough to work with a high-quality manufacturer like Salton to manufacture his product. The Hot Dog Express is an OK quality product, but handling it gives hints that it will not last as long as a George Foreman grill does.

That being said, it did cook some very tasty hot dogs. It has the rollers like a professional hot dog stand, and takes about 14 minutes to cook eight hot dogs. I used Oscar Meyer beef dogs and they tasted better than any boiled hot dog ever could. The buns warmed on the cover as the dogs cooked.

The only obvious quality problem was the timer dial. It is marked for the length of time you want the cooker to run. I set mine for 14 min, but found that it stopped at the three minute mark and had no alarm bell to indicate the completion of cooking. To compensate, I have to set mine to 17 min, and keep my eye on the clock. This may be a manufacturing problem only with my unit, but is only mildly irritating. I tend to keep an eye on cookers when they are running anyway, for safety reasons.

The unit cleans up easily, as they state. The rollers and the "oil collection tray" both come out of the cooker for easy cleaning in the sink.

Overall, I do recommend this product because it cooks a very good hot dog. It will serve some heavy duty time on my patio this summer.

(1) The drip tray at the back of the unit where the condensation is supposed too drip to when/while cooking and after you open the lid was broken. I emailed "As-seen-on-TV" and they responded by saying they had contacted the manufacturer and were going to wait to see what they (i.e., the manufacturer) can do/will advise. Why they cannot just send me a new/replacement drip tray is beyond me;

(2) The square turning stem that comes off the roller wheels and joins into the unit as the cooking time goes on, it seems this stem "unscrews" itself from the units motor turning assembly resulting in the roller wheel assembly no longer "turning" the dogs. Synopsis: I found that I had to occasionally "push the roller assembly back into the units motor stem connector with the plastic tongs. And by the by, the plastic tongs melted somewhat where I used them to push the roller assembly into the connector; couldn't use a metal utensil as the instructions say not to use metal to touch the rollers as may give off an electric shock.

I ordered the as seen on tv hot dog express , from a company called welistit.com , so I wanted people to be aware of this product , I received it with the drip tray in the back broken in 4 pieces , & I feel the company knew this when they packaged it , since the little plastic bag it came in was taped as if they didn't want any of the parts to fall out , because the way they had it packaged , there was no way it could have broken in Shipping , when I notified them of my problem , they said they had no record of ever shipping this item to my address , & I would have to get the Tracking # from UPS for them to be able to do anything for me , I wonder , when I send the # what their excuse will be then , only to delay me from getting the part once again , well I learned my lesson the hard way , I won't order from this Company again or purchase this item EVER again !!!!!!!!!

Its not really as great as i thought it was going to be. It holds 4 hot dogs at a time and you set the timer for 15 minutes. During the 15 minutes it makes a weird burning smell like somethings not right (but it says in the manual, that this burning smell is normal.) Also by the end of the 15 minutes, the hot dogs aren't all that hot so i wouldn't try and cook vegetables or anything else on it like it says you can do. Really it takes up more space than its worth because its just not that great.
