Very nice and versatile if you have a big enough oven. This pan is unusually wide. Make sure your oven has enough depth to take a 14" wide pan.

I have a few different pans including All-Clad, Paderno, and Mauviel. All of them are big enough and heavy gauge, heavy duty. The Paderno World Cuisine and the Mauviel are my best roasting pans because of their unbeatable depth and heavyweight. While I love them for their weight, it is not easy to clean them because at their size and heavy weight they are difficult to maneuver for thorough cleaning. We are talking 3-ply construction that is probably bullet proof or suitable as armor. Hence the search for something that is big but lighter for lighter duty.

This pan fits the bill perfectly. It is a nice pan quite pretty, deep enough, stainless steel, with the folding handles that was a must for me, and it has two stainless steel racks that seem to be pretty good. It is very well packed right from the factory and I do not think you whould receive it all scratched up because of the racks shifting during transit. The handles are mounted with rivets, they are not spot welded. What I like about this pan in particular is that it is quite light for its size without being flimsy. It does not have the thick metal sheet that my other pans have but it is decent and it is not as heavy as the others. I must clarify that I did select the others to be heavy, so I am not making the comparisons here with regular so-called heavy duty stuff. So I am happy with it.

Other things that may matter to you: At the bottom of the pan there is an indentation along the edges around the bottom. Many other pans are constructed with this feature but not all of them have it. I do not care for it but you may do. Also, I do not do deglazing and never use roasting pans on the stovetop, but if I ever did I probably would not use this one.

Bottomline: I love it because I was looking for something BIG, DEEP, and NOT HEAVY.

This is a very good product to restore an old system or in a retro project. I am building book shelf speakers and found that a thinner black material was better suited for the project at hand. This grill material seems to be more ridged, and designed to be used on flat surfaces where rear mounting into the wood work is the application. This is a very good product, however it is not suited to stretch around a fully exposed frame.

I am restoring an old Zenith radio. The original speaker cloth was dry rotted and torn. Getting vintage cloth is expensive and you still run the risk of dry rot. So, I took a chance on this and am extremely happy. The picture doesn't do it justice.

My antique Zenith cabinet radio/78 player had a dry rotted grill (and the cat decided to punch through it). Found this quick and easy and it looks fabulous. It seems like a plastic coated fabric more so than soft pliable cloth like material so it works best with a flat install. Probably won't work as well wrapping around corners as it isn't as flexible as cloth. But looks great and will last forever now I'm sure, even if the face of kitty.

This is, in my opinion, the best of the George Foreman grills.

It functions perfectly. The removable plates lock into place fairly well and do not slide around very much. It is incredibly easy to clean even without removing the plates.

The adjustable temperature and timers make cooking a lot easier when you don't have to guess at the actual temperature, like you do with so many of the other George Foreman grills.

It is sturdy, well built, and is designed to last. It fits easily onto a countertop, and I have had no problems with it whatsoever.

The one quibble I have is that the Bistro Grill does not actually shut off after it has been turned on for use, even if you press the power button again. You have to unplug it to get it to stop heating, and this is apparently by design according to the manual. This is counter-intuitive, and definitely not the way it should work. Pressing the power button should be a toggle. Press once, it turns on. Press a second time, it should turn *off*.

First offI'm convinced many of these reviews are fake. Any time someone writes an unsavory review some person comes along the day after to click "unhelpful" on it even though it has way more information on it than the 2 -3 sentance reviews that have no information but only say "It's great, I love it"the end. Yet those useless 5 star reviews that say absolutely nothing about the product get thumbs up as helpful. I would come to read the reviews on this product for months before purchasing because I was on the fence before buying it and I'm not kidding when I tell you that virtually any review that had 3 stars or less almost IMMEDIATELY had been clicked unhelpful by someone as if this was being monitored in some way. there are a few too many reviews where this is the only product the reviewer has ever reviewed here on amazon too which is fishy to me. Anyhow, I just don't understand why what I'm about to mention here was only mentioned by a few of the reviewers so far. I'll sum this up with pros and cons.

Pros Removable plates. Size is good. That's all.

If it weren't for the fact that the plates could be removed and put in the dishwasher... and like someone else's review noted, the fact that this grill is sized long enough for cooking bacon, I would've just spent 20 bucks on the much more superior cooking machine I once hadthe GF champ.

Cons:

Takes significantly longer to heat up than previous gf grill models. It takes 15 minutes on the evolve to cook something that used to take me 6 minutes on the champ.

Croshatch grill plate much harder to clean. The previous models have a standard top and bottom grill plate that is easy to clean because they have standard straight grill markings. This model has a top grill that is cross-hatched which makes it 5 times harder to clean. Even after putting it in the dishwasher on high there is still so much residue left in between the crosshatches I have to handwash it for an extra 3 minutes.

-Bad experience in getting replacement parts. So the manual says you can get the regular type of straight top plate if you want. Well I tried ordering it from the replacement part company and they told me they don't have them. I was dissapointed but I thought to myselfok... I might as well just get extra grill plates so that I can have an extra on hand if the teflon scratches or just to not have to run the dishwasher every night I can have an extra clean pair of grill plates. Well that didn't work out either. I was told they didn't have any more replacement grill plates and that I'd have to wait 6 weeks. 8 weeks later they still didn't have them... 16 weeks later still nothing... so basically if you scratch the teflon on these grill plates, you're stuck having to buy a new entire grill because they don't have replacement grill plates and haven't had them for months. customer service is virtually non-existant.

No where in the manual does it explain to you what it means when the temperature display is blinking and what it means when it stops blinking. Probably because they don't want you to realize how long this thing takes to actually heat up to the right temperature. the manual says to preheat the grill to the desired temperature for at least 5 minutes before placing food on it. But the blinking indicates that it is still heating. Once it stops blinking the desired temperature has been reached. It takes WAY more than 5 minutes to preheat the grill to the set temperature. I put bacon on the rack and it took almost 15 minutes to cook. It would've been faster on the stove! On the champ it took me 8 minutes to get perfect crispy bacon.

If you go traveling outdoors a lot like rv camping the other plates like the muffin and cake plate might work for you. Otherwise I don't see the point of using this to make muffins or cakes or pizza because the oven makes pizzas, cakes and muffins 50 times better than this grill does and in the same amount of time. I don't have the waffle plates so I can't comment on those.

One reviewer below wrote "What did this "evolve" from anyway? A bic lighter?" I couldn't agree more.

I bought this grill as a replacement for a "Ready-Set-Go" that was a piece of junk that fell apart after only a couple of uses. I really liked having a counter-top grill though, so i thought I'd give this Foreman a try! WoW! Am I glad I did! Grilled some Maple/Dijon/BBQ Glazed Salmon the first night, and it came out better than when I use my professional outdoor grill. I love the interchangable grill, deepdish, and muffin grill plates. The kids loved the deep dish pizza too! Now, if I can get George to offer an omlet and tiny muffins plate like I had with the "Ready-set-Go" this thing would be perfect. It's easy to use, quick and easy to clean with the removable plates, and versatile. Bottom line: buy it! ...and enjoy!

This grill is quick and versatile. Temperature and time controls are very simple. All grilling/baking plates are very easy to remove and pop in the dishwasher. Thus no greasy cleanup after burgers, etc. At this price a more complete cookbook should be included, since cooking is done on both sides and cooking time is much shorter than other methods.

For $95 I was expecting a lot more. You can cook pretty well with the thing, but I have two main issues

1)Not easy to clean.

The bottom pan is pretty easy to clean, and that is the one they show in various pictures, but the top pan isn't. The top pan has lines to make cool grill marks, but frankly, its hard to clean. its so big I can't soak it in my sink or my giant plastic tub, so I have to hand clean it with paper towels and rags. Stuff gets stuck in the corners of the grill-line area so easily. Frankly, I just rinse it and re-use without cleaning the top just because its such a pain.

2)Heating

It says it preheats in 5 minutes, but that is just flat out wrong. If you want to preheat on 300 (lowest) it takes about 8-10 minutes, and if you want to preheat to 425 (highest) it takes around 15 minutes. Even if you get it that hot, once you put the food on it won't be able to maintain the temperature. If you have any intention of covering the entire surface with food, you will be disappointed. I can get 2 burgers on this thing and it still has trouble maintaining them. I put 8 strips of bacon on and the 'sizzle' sound fades after 20-30 seconds. It just cant maintain the heat.

I like the deep-dish pan it has though. I put a lot of food in there, set to 300 and let it slowly cook for 30-40 minutes. It barely reaches a boil after 15 minutes, but after that it is a slow boil that can maintain. Even if I set it to 425 like this, it only boils a little faster.

Frankly, though, for almost $100 I think it is junk.

4 Star Rating because I got blue instead of the red that I had ordered. I knew Amazon would make it right, but I wanted the pan now and I do like the blue as well. Also, the delivery was later than stated which is unusual. I love the T-Fal pots and pans! I think they perform better than the much higher priced pans that I have purchased in the past. The only thing with this pan is that the bottom is more like a 10" than 12". It is wider at the top. But I still love the pan.

We bought a couple of these to complement other T-Fal pans we have been using. They work very well, heat evenly and efficiently, and are easy to clean. Good product for everyday use or for special recipes and cooking occasions.

I can't find anything negative to say about this product. It cooks without sticking and is dishwasher safe. The lid has that super hole to release heat/steam to ensure you get a nicely cooked whatever. It blends in my jewel-tone kitchen, despite it's color (truly). I just love this pan--so much so I bought several of the others. 5 thumbs up for this one.

I bought the top 6 reviewed grill presses on Amazon.com, and used them for several months in a rigorous comparison in my kitchen. I liked this one the best. The products I compared were:

Chef's Design 20-Inch Double Burner Reversible Grill/Griddle

I got this griddle for my wife for xmas she absolutely loves it. She has cooked chicken, pancakes, etc on it and no problems. She raves on how easy it is to clean and how good it is. I looked high and low for griddles and this one is it look no further for the perfect griddle.

Update 3+ Year of usage and still loving this. It remains super easy to use and clean up. It does a great job with pancakes, grilling during the winter and anything else we have tried to cook on it. I highly recommend this!

I used this more before I bought the Cuisinart Griddler (the Griddler's plates are diswasher safe, my two favorite words.) I think the key is to adjust the temperature. Start on medium but as the food cooks, lower the temperature to keep juices from burning. I do not suggest it for marinades that contain a lot of sugar because the non-stick coating is delicate. If you do burn something, immediately after cooking, turn off the heat, leave the grill in place and pour water on it. Use a nylon scrub brush to loosen as much food as you can as the water steams. Dawn Power Dissolve works if things burn on it, but do not leave it on for a long time because it will damage the coating.

A bonus is that it really does thaw foods fast too.

Great product if you treat it well.

I use this grill in my apartment, where I have a small (UGLY) range. I have it permanently covering the left side of my range, which works great for me.

It's SO easy to clean. The nonstick coating is just as good, if not better than other commercial grill pans. It sets on top of my range like it was built to be there. Even when it is not in use it looks decorative.

As for actually cooking with the grill, it is simple! A few squirts of cooking spray, set both burners to medium-high... you have a great, consistent grill pan. No excess smoke or grit.... it's amazing.

Have had the griddle approximately 2 weeks and have already used it to grill steaks, sausage and eggs, tenderloins, and hamburgers. Everything has come out great on it! Be sure and read the directions never heat over medium I use a little under medium and everything cooks evenly and quickly with no burning or damaging of the underside of the griddle. Have used the "defrost" function and it really works! Highly recommend this item.

Lodge A5-1 Charcoal Chimney Starter

My old chimney, same style, lasted for twenty years. I'm glad they haven't changed the style. It works.

The other reviewer pointed out some safety issues. These are valid for any chimney starter and are best solved by keeping in mind that there's a fire going in the chimney.

There are a few things I really like about this model. 1) Lots of ventilation to get oxygen to all of the coals, even when totally full. 2) You can easily lift it up and put new paper under it if your paper fizzles out (happened to me) and you need to restart. The small holes in the side also help you see what's going on as the heat rises. 3) Most important, it gets charcoal good and hot good and quick.

Now for what I don't like. 1) Lodge coated all of the metal surfaces, including the grill inside, with some kind of coating. I guess it's supposed to make it look like "nice" unfinished metal. Problem is, this coating isn't very heat resistant and quickly melts/evaporates, leaving odd streaks of exposed metal after just a couple uses. A better approach would have been to leave the metal alone. 2) Even a large charcoal briquette can slip through the grill in the bottom. Not sure how I'd fix this and keep the system well ventilated. 3) It only holds enough to cook a crowded meal for 2 on charcoal. Easiest way to solve this is buy 2 or more, depending on how much you plan to cook at a time. This seems to be the case for every starter I've seen. They're all basically the same size.

This charcoal chimney starter is effective and performs as described in the product description.

There are two flaws in the design that relate to safety:

1. The metal handle is exposed in the separation on the sides of the 2-piece wooden insulators. Conceivably, a bare hand could be burned when grasping the handle to dump out the prepared coals. Be sure to use an insulated glove or potholder.

2. The spacing of the outermost ring in the bottom grate sometimes allows a briquette to fall through and out of the chimney. This can occur when a briquette is oriented edge-wise down. A user typically has his/her attention on the open end of the chimney when pouring hot charcoal. A hot briquette could fall out unnoticed from the other end when tipping the unit. My personal experience is that a briquette fell out of the bottom when I dumped the coals into my grill. It landed on the plastic top of a patio table. I did not discover this until the table top had been partially melted and deformed.

Use with caution. Supervise youngsters.

This would be 5 stars if Lodge could have made a grate that didn't allow charcoal to fall through. I used a current name brand charcoal and tried to light three chimney's worth this weekend. About 10% of the bricks will fall through during the pouring in (annoying) or pouring out (dangerous). Why in the world would you not make the grate smaller? Unless I modify it myself, it is too annoying to use. Thanks, Lodge.

Wow, talk about an item that does exactly what it is supposed to do!

12 minutes for 30 regular Kingsford charcoals to be fully ready to cook. This is with three newspaper sheets, one match and NO FUEL.

The only negative thought is the top rim is extremely sharp and could pose a cutting danger to the user. The bottom rim seems to be better rounded and does not pose this hazard.

Presto 05511 Quick Burger 400-Watt Nonstick Hamburger Cooker

I've only used this appliance a dozen times in a couple of weeks, so it might malfunction tomorrow, but. . .

In the first place, mine heats up very quickly, so I've begun putting my hamburger or sausage in it after about 30-60 seconds. It cooks ground sausage like Owens brand like a dream. Hamburger or sausage, you just place a mound of meat in the center and lock down the top. The heating element is only in the top, so if appearance is important to you, flip the patty after a couple of minutes. Sausage is done perfectly, as are the hamburgers. I haven't tried frozen patties, because I prefer the taste of fresh.

Several Months Later Update:

Oh, poor me. This little appliance didn't live up to my expectations (after I bought a second one!) For one thing, the non-stick coating started coming off. Then the handle broke. Too bad. Changing the rating from 5 to 1 star.

This product is inferior at best. The plastic handle broke the first time I used it. Also, the grilling surface is not big enough to accomodate a standard size frozen hamburger patty. I do not recommend!!

I never got the chance to see if the "non-stick" coating would eventually start to flake off (as noted in other reviews here) -this product broke on the very first use. I followed the instructions to a "T" and as I squeezed it closed to cook the burger, the bottom tray's (rigid plastic) handle snapped off, rendering it useless. The burger never even got a chance to start cooking. Perhaps that's a good thing, since the jagged hole where the handle used to join the side of the bottom tray -a hole created when the handle snapped off -would have allowed the hot grease to pour out of the opening and all over the counter. Into the trash can the Quick Burger griller went. A very poor excuse for an appliance. Save your money and look elsewhere for a more reliable, well-constructed and non-defective product. I'm shocked that a well-known name like Presto would sell such a poorly designed and manufactured product. One star here ... only because "0" or negative stars aren't available.

I purchased this as an option to frying burgers in a pan. The thing heated up very quickly and when my boyfriend picked it up by the handle, he got burned. He put the burger in, closed the handle and the handle immediately snapped off. Had a half cooked burger that he had to finish cooking in a fry pan anyway. I wasn't too upset as it didn't cost much in the home store it was purchased at but still I could have saved the time and trouble. Don't bother with this.
