Chefs Basics HW5272 Digital Fork Thermometer with LCD Display

Chefs Basics HW5272 Digital Fork Thermometer with LCD DisplayI was very optimistic at first but after cooking 2 turkeys and a couple backyard barbeque's all my meat was perfectly cooked no more guessing wether its medium well or well done its worth the money

Tired of guessing if your meat is done? Mystery solved with this handy BBQ fork. Turns amature BBQ'ers into Pro's.

I have used other temperature Forks but this 1 is better because it has a wider range of readings for temperature and doneness for several different types of meat.

Some call me a connoisseur, however even if you don't believe you are one you will still love this meat thermometer. I would definitely recommend it to pros, but even to the not-so-seasoned chef or grill-master. Reasons being: reads temperature speedily, accurately (tested against other non-digital thermometers); and most of all (the reason i think anyone can buy this) it's ease of use and interesting functions.

Although, it could be that i purchased one of the last ones in-stock. I think this is a rare find. But i do remember it being out-of-stock here a bit before i purchased it but i bought it as soon as it came in. :-) sorry bout that guys. I think amazon might have an alert thingy to notify you via email when/if it does come back in stock...

Anyways Happy Hunting! (for the deal. lol)

btw i personally do not hunt but i also don't have anything against it being done LEGALLY if hunting is something that floats your boat. but yes i meant deal hunting.

I was really excited about this item when I first purchased it. Boy was I disappointed. The hotter the meat got the slower the indicator increased. I got a probe thermometer which I know works and double checked and when the fork registered 154 degrees the probe had 190 degrees. When you are cooking chicken or turkey or anything for that matter you need to know the internal temperature for doness and to prevent either disease or dryness. This is a DON'T BUY item. BTW it says guaranteed for a year but there is no paperwork with it.

Farberware Specialties Aluminum Nonstick 11-Inch Square Grill Pan with Spout, Platinum

Farberware Specialties Aluminum Nonstick 11-Inch Square Grill Pan with Spout, PlatinumI used for the first time last weekend. It is a great pan. It cleans up easy and provides great grill marks. Highly recommend. Will probably buy another!!

This pan is just what I wanted. It's beautifully made, well balanced and easier to clean than a cast iron pan, even after baking marinated chicken in the oven. Amazon is the best source for finding just what you need. Thanks Amazon for just being there!!!

I love this grill pan. Easy to clean and heats evenly. I was using a cast iron pan that was heavy to lift and a bear to clean up. This pan is great.

I own a Loge grill pan, which was too heavy to use and very slow to cook the food. I wanted a lighter grill pan and this fit the bill. Sooo happy with it! Pan heats up quickly, very easy to use, and grills food very nicely (grill lines show up on the food). Highly recommend!

This grill pan is now my all time favorite. Cooks evenly. Spouts on both sides pour evenly with no spills. Cleans well.

Camp Chef Weekender 2-Burner Stove 2012

Camp Chef Sport Utility DJ-60LW Table Top Sport StoveThank you Camp Chef Weekender!

My Coleman propane and white gas stoves and low BTU camper stove took ages to boil water at high altitude if at all and frankly just didn't have enough room to do much "serious" cooking. For me, good food makes a good camping trip.

Frustrated, I took a leap and bought a bigger "Yukon" sized 2 burner Camp Chef...Mistake. Great stove, it was just too big and too heavy for my purposes. Sadly, I returned it, but before I did I browsed through the Camp Chef catalog and lo and behold there it was...."The Weekender"...a suitcase style stove with cast iron burners with 30,000 BTU each and it looked to be built to take some abuse. I HAD TO HAVE IT! ...and thusly, the Weekender found it's way into my life and my camping meals have improved tremendously.

This stove goes with me every time we go camping...car camping with the Cub Scouts and with our pop-up camper, I even banished the stock camper stove to the attic and take the Weekender instead (you can buy and adapter hose to connect directly to your camper...Sweet!).

The Weekender puts off enough heat I was able to boil water in a 50 gallon galvanized stock tank. (Elk taxidermy project...don't ask)

If you are looking to buy, here's a couple of things to keep in mind...

1. Construction is steel and cast iron this is not a light weight stove

2. Cast iron griddle you probably need one...if you get one, buy a flame diffuser plate to go between the burner and the griddle to more evenly disburse the heat across the griddle. You will be happy you did.

3. Size. This stove is probably 3x larger(wider for sure and definitely taller) than a 2 burner Coleman camp stove. This stove doesn't run on the 1 lb green propane tanks. You will need to have a 5, 10 or 20 lb propane tank to use this. Not a problem but something to note.

4. Stove does not come with an igniter to light the burners but they can be added if you like.

The only to possible "cons" I have for this stove are minimal. 1. knobs are somewhat exposed and seem like they could be broken off if transit but I haven't had that happen. 2. Latches that hold the lid down and wind screens in place are sturdy but could latch a bit tighter. Minor nits.

Buy this stove with confidence and bring your outdoor kitchen up a level...or two!

Very good light and powerful unit... Maybe to hot a burner but it sure does it's job... We canned Salmon in the field in Alaska..

This is a great compact stove for tailgating or if you "camp" from a prairie whale or a popup. Excellent for community events like World Tai Chi day or the club or fire department picknick.

Unlike the burners on the Camp Chef Camping Outdoor Oven with 2 Burner Camping Stove (see my review) this will boil 2 quarts of water even in adverse conditions and do it quickly. It stays lit much better than the burners on the oven particularly when on high.

The Good:

Well made given the weight constraints.

The way the wind shield wings attach is much sturdier than most.

Puts out a lot of heat, even when turned down.

The legs attach with captive machine screws easily.

Folds up securely into a compact bundle with a suitcase handle.

Low legs make it easy to use on a picnic table or tailgate.

Captive wrench on the hose for the burner attachment.

If you take the regulator and hose off it and the legs stow inside the case.

The bad:

Puts out a lot of heat, even when turned down, finer control would be good.

Uses up propane quickly--well DUH!

Low legs mean uncomfortable bending unless it is set on something.

The ugly:

Puts out a lot of heat so sitting it directly on most things or close (

Soapstone Griddle

Soapstone GriddleThe griddle works great in the over on my stovetop and while grilling. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it is so heavy I sometimes think of other cooking methods that are not so cumbersome. Couldn't they make it a bit thinner to decrease the weight?

Heated it slowly on a woodstove to about 250 degrees, then put it on the gas stove with a medium flame--cracked within a minute. Don't believe those pix on the website showing flames! Waste of money.

GRILLMARK BBQ-467415 "GRILL LIFE" GRILL BRUSH FOR PORCELAIN COATED GRILLS

GRILLMARK BBQ-467415 'GRILL LIFE' GRILL BRUSH FOR PORCELAIN COATED GRILLSI purchased this product from Amazon 3 years ago, and it's still going strong. This brush does not scrape my porcelain finish, and gets in the grooves perfectly to clean my grates. I would definitely buy again, but from the looks of it, I won't have to as it shows little wear!

Taylor Wireless Thermometer w/ Remote Fahrenheit Reading - For Grill

Taylor Wireless Thermometer w/ Remote Fahrenheit Reading - For GrillI own this device and I have a charcoal grill on my patio. Now I can put my "beer can chicken" on the grill for "about an hour" and know when the temperature gets within 20 degrees, then 10 degrees, the exactly at the target temperature of 165 in the breast meat. Love it. However, it is $16 cheaper at Target.com

The interface of the main unit is nice and intuitive. I had no problems figuring out how to use the features. The remote is somewhat irritating with the warning beeps at 20 degrees and 10 degrees from target. Especially when slow cooking where the temp may fluctuate a bit resulting in repeated warnings every time the temp crosses one of these thresholds.

My main complaint is the probe. At least I'm assuming it's the probe. I've used similar probe thermometers for years, so I am aware how careful you have to be with the probes. I treated this one with kid gloves, never letting the cord crimp or get any moisture anywhere near where the wire enters the metal probe. Yet after only one use, the temp now reads 275F in the air. The thermometer is now of no use to me other than as a clock.

This seems to do a decent job. In fact, it's entertaining. I already own a Taylor, unit sans the pager, for our indoor oven. It's provided years of service. I look for Taylor products after a pleasant experience with their customer service a few years ago. As for this unit, it's a real hoot when the pager goes off to let you know the food is done. Do not limit it's use to meat. You can cook potatoes, soup, a loaf of bread and even a cake in a barbecue so long as it is properly covered and the heat evenly distributed. 350 degrees of heat is the same whether it comes from a home oven or a barbecue.

My Husband had a similar thermometer and when it broke we never replaced it. After watching America's test kitchen recommend this product, i went right to Amazon and ordered it asap! It was an anniversary present. He has not used it yet! But I know he will love it!

~thanks
