Tayama Hot Pot

Tayama Hot PotThis is a very functional and well made pot. It works well with my induction cooktop, which was my biggest uncertainty prior to buying the pot. Yes it's thin steel, but all induction style hot pots I've seen seem to be constructed that way. For its purpose, I think it's a great product and an excellent value.

I really can't complain about this pot..... I mean, it's a metal pot with a divider in it for different soup broth. It's not exactly that complicated. I put the lid together in about two minutes and one of the two minutes was trying to find my screw driver. The only con I would say about this pot is that it could be slightly thicker but other than that it's a pretty decent pot for hot pot night.

Works as it is supposed to and love my pot! Had a hot pot session last week and am so happy with my purchase. We dont get a lot of good Chinese food here so this will be used at least once a month, works well with a camping stove on my table.

I think other reviewers had different experiences based on who they purchased it from. I bought directly from Amazon, and the product was precisely as pictured. Yes, it's thin metal, but compared to the heavy, cast-iron Dutch Oven I was using on our induction tabletop unit, it heated up water much faster, which is what you want. The divider worked fine, as did the lid. It may warp or give after a while, but for this cost, I wouldn't object.

And, yes, despite a magnet only weakly sticking to it, it worked *just fine* on our induction unit.

This pot is very flimsy. They are poorly constructed, thin metal, and there are food particles stuck on the edges of the divider after lots of scrubbing and washing. Tamaya products have not worked out for us. We also own a Tamaya rice cooker, and it is also very bad quality because the rice will get watery and bad after just a few hours of sitting in the rice cooker on "warm" setting. I will avoid all Tamaya products after having bad luck with these 2 Tamaya items.

George Foreman 36" sq. Non-Stick Electric Grill

George Foreman 36' sq. Non-Stick Electric GrillI've had a several variations on the small George Foreman grills. I have literally worn most of them out, and they last when cared for! I use my GF a LOT. They are great when making a meal in the summer. It doesn't noticeably heat the room like the broiler in my oven and I think it uses much less power all year round. They are just the right size for one or two people.

I cooked steak, lamb, pork, chicken, salmon, tuna, cod, haddock, bluefish, trout, and a bunch of stuff that just isn't coming immediately to mind. It was all great. The biggest danger is over-cooking because it's so fast and cooks from both sides at once.

When cooking for one and there is space behind a steak or pork chop, I put slices of veggies like bell pepper and onions back there to cook with the steak. Behind the steak is a steamy spot on the grill and these veggies cook to perfection in the same time as the steak. Sometimes I rub them with olive oil for a nice taste.

The tilted design is great to get rid of grease and the hot plates sear the surface to seal in juices and flavor. With fish I like to use a very light coating of Mayo which seems to help make pink and white fish even more detectibly moist and tasty. With steak and meats the grill works great with rubs and spices. I really like the Paul Prudome "magic" line of spices. Yum! Even cooking a whole trout is great, albeit I needed to slice it in two at the ribs so it all fit at once. About 6 minutes between the plates and done to yummy perfection.

If you freeze steaks, a 6 oz 3/4" thick steak frozen solid and dropped on the hot places will be done to medium in just about 10 minutes, in my experience steak cold out of the fridge of the same size/thickness is done to medium in about 5 to 6 minutes. The timing is just about second nature now.

The non-stick surface isn't perfect, though pretty good. Be careful with forks/knives and use a plastic spatula to remove fish as it has a greater tendency to stick than anything else.

Cleanup is oh so easy. While one must not put their little GF in the dishwasher or immerse it (I wish the plates were removable!) it's still pretty easy to clean.

First, just after the food comes off I give it a quick hot wipe with a paper towel to get the bulk off. Just takes a second to do this. After the meal I finish the clean-up by hanging the front of the GF over the sink and using a soapy wet sponge. I thoroughly wash the plates and clean the catch tray. Then I use the clean catch tray to rinse the plates of soap, then drain it and both air dry. Water all flows into the sink and it's really clean. It all takes a minute or two.

This is a great tool. If it wasn't so great why would I keep buying them? :-) I even keep a spare on the shelf in case my current 4 year old one fails. I love my GF and its saved so much of my time while giving me great food to enjoy.

Update May 2013:

I've moved to a new GF Champ (the current one was bought 4 years ago) and the cooking times seem to be a little longer than my old one. Just a little reminder that while all the GF Champ variations are virtually identical (except for the plastic shell) there are small individual differences in how hot they get and cooking times may need small adjustments between units. I find the same thing is true in Microwave ovens. A small adjustment.

I still love my GF Champ and have given just about one of every champ model to friends or family members.

Does what its supposed to... Works great after a few months. Also looks very nice on the counter. Was surprised how versatile this machine is

Much smaller than I expected but I live alone and usually cook for myself. It definitely cooks well and cleans easy. I would recommend buying the scrubbers as well

This grill is amazing. It is smaller than expected but its just one person to feed. Could be enough for two slighly. If you have a bigger family you might want to get a larger grill. Whatever size can't go wrong with George Foreman grill of any assortment.

George Foreman GR10WSP1 36-Inch Grill, White

George Foreman GR10WSP1 36-Inch Grill, WhiteAs a diagnosed diabetic I finally caved in and got my first George Foreman grill to see if it could help with my meal planning. This model is tailor-made for single person useperfect for that bachelor pad or college dorm where space is a priority and you need to cook up something quick and easy. It comes with a plastic grease catcher, a plastic blunt tine spatula (which you might not need) and a cheap dual-sided scrubbing sponge.

It's small enough to fit on a corner of the counter or wherever you might want to place it, though the short power cord may inhibit your choice of location. I have a small place so mine sits on a corner of the kitchen table tapped into my universal power strip.

Like other GF grills there's no on/off switch, only an indicator light that lets you know both when the unit's properly heated to cook and when the food's done. Once plugged in it heats up pretty quicklyfive minutes or so. Teflon surface or nowhich I'm not a fan ofI suggest coating it with some cooking spray before putting the meat on. I've gone through turkey burgers, chicken breasts, tuna steaks, fish filletsyou name it; it all cooked up well-done without a hitch (if you're not into well-done you'll have to keep an eye on it). Depending upon whether you've marinated your meats or not, the grill doesn't get too messy but the grease catcher is always up to the task.

Cleaning up goes pretty easily, too. Your best bet is not to wait too long: unplug the unit, douse both surfaces with water after it's cooled off a little then scrub off the residue. The dual-sided sponge is pretty cheap and fell apart on me after too long so now I use a vegetable brush with a dab of liquid soap.

Overall, other than the short cord and cheap sponge I like my George. It does what it says, and definitely helps trim a lot of fat and oils out of my meals. Nice job.

This white model is what I think of as the "classic" edition and I've owned and worn out 2 of this one. I think I can say it's my favorite!

i never cook raw meat in it, but i use it to reheat and grill food, make panini sandwiches, spread butter and sprinkle extra sugar on store bought pastries and cookie-mmmmm-grill burritos, and reheat almost everything! When the light is out anything you cook is done to perfection, making a lousy cook like me feel like a master chef.

Chef Craft 21215 1-Piece High Temperature Silicone Spoon Spatula, Black Handle with Clear Spatula,

Chef Craft 21215 1-Piece High Temperature Silicone Spoon Spatula, Black Handle with Clear Spatula, 12-1/4-InchBowl scrapers or spatulas have really improved recently. I hated the old rubber ones from my early cooking days--over time, they crack, discolor and get really unwholesome-looking. I don't think wooden handles are particularly sanitary, either. (Pores can hold bacteria and dirt. Then the plastic, non-silicone spatulas were a real "fail." Melt in hot stuff. Handles like soda straws. The new silicone spatulas have a huge advantage as they can take higher temperatures and they are resistant to breakage. Better handles (those thin plastic ones just snap when I use them. Nothing more depressing than scraping out a bowl of cake batter and seeing the stump of the scraper mired in batter, you holding the broken handle and wondering "What now?")

This spatula is plain but really well designed. It has a spoon-ish shape on the bottom, it is flexible (have to get used to that if you are normally using a stiffer scraper) and it has a wide handle grip at the top for people with larger hands (like me) or who find skinny handles hard to hold. And it is white and black, so the bother of deciding if acid green, bright orange, or cherry red is no issue. In fact, I don't want to see an acid green spatula dipping into my marinara--it puts me off my game.

This is just the thing, so if you are looking for a workhorse spatula, this might just be the one. I like it.

Good size and quality tool. The silicone head is a bit softer and more "bendy" than my other silicone scrapers, but just what I was looking for. It's already my go-to tool for scraping bowls in the kitchen. I especially like the clear (or at least non-colored) silicone, because it's easier to see changes in sauce colors.

These things work great! I use them to cook omelets and so far there are NO problems with them. They seem to handle the heat well.

I thought the end was a bit flimsy, I would rather have seen a little bit more of a stiffer end.

I bought this to replace a Wilton spoon/spatula that I used all the time but recently broke at the handle neck. It came as a set and I did not want more of the other less useful (for my purposes) spatulas so I opted for this one. It is longer than the one I had and the spoon/spatula part is not as big or smooth as the Wilton but is still very functional.

George Foreman Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine GR7BLK

George Foreman Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine GR7BLKOur first George Foreman appliance was the two slice toaster shown in the product picture of the George Foreman GR36BWC Jumbo Size Plus Grill, Silver with Double Bonus. We were very satisfied with the toaster and thought we would give this grilling machine a try. I'm glad we did. This is a great little indoor grill when just cooking for one or two people. We have used it for hamburgers and hotdogs and have been very satisfied with the tasty results. Drains the fat but leaves the flavor! Clean up is a breeze. Great for those days when it's too hot, rainy or cold to grill outside. ~ The Boss

It's a nice little grill but I think it's too hot, it really singes the outside of meats like hamburgers and sausages. Doesn't get the middle hot enough if you don't like charcoal on the outside.

Thanks to my mother, I was gifted this item.

First trial, I chose a pair of small pork tenderloins.

I placed them somewhat diagonally, closed the top, and plugged in the unit.

When the light went out, I checked one tenderloin and found it perfectly done, through to the middle.

Both were perfect.

So far, so very good.

Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Grill Brush Replacement Head, Fits SR8114

Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Grill Brush Replacement Head, Fits SR8114So what can I say? It's a replacement brush head and it's the same as what's on the original product. I cannot tell any difference between it and the original. I've not worn it out like I did the original, but expect it to last at least 40 or so BBQ sessions. I typically clean before and after the grilling, so that gives you an idea of how long it should last. I scrub pretty hard. I didn't keep records, but I think this bush lasted about half again as long as the last generic brush head I had. Bristles have not come out after all my scrubbing either. Good product.

This is one tough grill brush. Not cheap but it will go the distance. I like the replacement brush option rather than throwing the whole thing away.
