I purchased the BGE temperature gauge and it does a good job. I have seen others that I think it is little better. For now...as a BGE beginner...this will work fine for me!

This is a good thermometer, but read the directions and calibrate it before you install it. I bought a Big Green Egg that had been used one time as a "demonstrator." I could never seem to really get the temperature "up" on it, so I figured it must be the thermometer, and I got this one to replace it. In the end, I'm thinking (like I did when I got this new thermometer) that the people who set-up my Big Green Egg simply installed it without calibrating it. READ THE DIRECTIONS. They're small, and they're on the little piece of paper that's inside the plastic case and covers the thermometer. It looks like it could be something, like the plastic case, to throw away as soon as you open it, so check-it-out. After reading the directions, calibrating and installing this new thermometer on my Big Green Egg, I went to the trash can and got my original thermometer. I'm keeping it as a back-up, thinking it was good all along, but had just never been calibrated.
