George Foreman GR10AWHT Champ Grill

George Foreman GR10AWHT Champ GrillFinally, a product that lives up to all its hype and doesn't end up wasting precious kitchen space like the food processors, bread machines, etc. we have bought in the past but all too often turn out to be too much of a pain to clean and assemble. I've had mine for over a year now...we live in an apartment where kitchen space is at a premium. On hot days, if I turn on the oven or stove, it heats the whole kitchen and half our place up. To top it off, I'm a vegetarian -hubby is not. The George Foreman Champ grill is terrific -I buy those extra-lean premade frozen hamburger patties at Safeway, and even Jim (whose specialty is cereal with milk) can get motivated enough to plug the grill in, heat it up and toss a patty, or an Italian sausage, boneless chicken breast, etc. for a quick lunch, dinner or snack. Best of all, no splatter of grease like you would get using a skillet the grease just runs off! Besides cooking for hubby, I have also used it to make super GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES, and Gardenburgers come out great. And that non-stick surface is great -so easy to clean! I just can't say enough good things about the George Foreman Grill. I've recommended it to countless people and even bought several for presents (my sister and brother-in-law bought about 15 of them last Christmas for relative presents!). So buy it already! It's great!

This is easily the best "As Seen On TV" product ever made (I'd like to see Ronco top this marvelous machine). As I am writing this review, I am eating boneless skinless chicken breasts that were made on the George Foreman "Champ" Grill". They are so good that words cannot describe how good they are...just sprinkle some "Mrs. Dash 'Table Blend'" on the chicken breasts before you cook them, put them on the grill, and have a great chicken dinner (only other thing you have to do is find something to go along with the chicken [maybe some white rice]). Cleanup is so easy it's ridiculous! The nonstick surface allows you to clean the grill surface with a soft clean cloth or sponge (dampened with warm water, of course), and the drip tray can go in the dishwasher. Just yesterday I prepared some turkey burgers (from Wampler Foods) on the grill, and it is amazing how much fat will be drained from turkey burgers (even though turkey meat has less fat that ground beef [which is what hamburger patties are made of], it still has fat). The George Foreman Grill really does "cut the fat" from food!

I bought the George Foreman grill as a joke for my husband (it DOES say "Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine" on it), but we used it for three weeks solid after it arrived. The reason? It's EASY, and the food turns out really tasty!

This particular model is big enough only for two hamburgers (if you make them to fit... pre-frozen patties are too big and have to be cooked one at a time). More often, you have to cook one portion of meat at a time. The grill is tilted and comes with a trough so that all excess fat is drained away from your food. Pretty nifty! It's also fairly easy to clean up -you just wipe down the grill and throw the trough in the dishwasher.

We've used the grill for chicken breasts, Boca Burgers, regular burgers, pork chops, steaks, and even bacon strips (it's GREAT for avoiding a bunch of messy bacon grease). It cooks even frozen meat in a relatively short period of time, and it cooks it thoroughly. It's easy to throw something on the grill, sprinkle some seasonings on it (BAM!), and let it cook for a few minutes while you fix the rest of the meal. It is hard to overcook things, and it's fun to have grill-lines on your food.

It was hard for me to believe the hype about the George Foreman Grills, but they are easy to use and deliver good results. In fact, this might be a good way to introduce your older children (12 and up) to rudimentary cooking. The George Foreman grill would be great for people who don't have a lot of time to cook & clean, who aren't yet confident cooks or don't have a lot of cooking experience. This small model would work in a dorm suite, a bachelor pad, for newlyweds, or anyone who doesn't want to feed a crowd (although you could do it with this one, it would just take awhile).

This is one of the few TV-advertised bits of cookware that actually lives up to its reputation. It does burgers exceptionally wellI like the way it drains off excessive moistureoften a problem with hamburger meatinstead of allowing the burger to boil in it. It's especially useful for singles and students who like to buy bags of frozen patties for quick meals.

You can also do a bit of creative cooking with it, like grilling sliced vegetables brushed with olive oil and spicestry eggplants and meaty tomatoes. Marinated chicken breasts. How about shrimp? Yes, it works. Marinate shrimp in olive oil, parsely, breadcrumbs, parmesan, garlic, salt and pepper, toss them on the grill, close it and wait about a minute.

It's great for kids, too. You can let kids who are too young to work over an open flame or a hot burner cook thier own lunches oin the Forman grill with a lot less worry.

A surprisingly useful tool for the money.

I gave it four stars, just because there's fancier features available on other models (larger size, temp setting, bun warmer, outdoor stand, etc).

I was skeptical (as I am with any infomercial type product), but I really like my George Foreman grill. I live on my own in an apartment, and hated cooking meat because the air would get too greasy and the smell would hang for days. The George Foreman grill covers the meat and cooks it both sides at a time, and it is very quick--this keeps the air cleaner in my apartment, because not so much meat grease is being released into the air. I have had no trouble with the temperature or how the meat comes out. I have used it successfully and had juicy, properly cooked meats with the extra fat drained off. Clean-up is easy, I use a paper towel and then give a wipe with a dishtowel dipped in warm/soapy water and rinse with some clean water. Do not immerse, but you can do this sinkside because of the angled grill. The size of this unit is just right for one person.

I am eating more quality meats because of this grill--an improvement in my diet. My cat gets the drippings dish, so she likes this grill, too!

Bayou Classic 0880-PDQ Stainless-Steel Beercan ChickCAN Rack

Bayou Classic 0880-PDQ Stainless-Steel Beercan ChickCAN RackI am very happy with this vertical roaster. I've used it dozens of times, and throw it in the dishwasher when I'm done not even one rust spot.

The accompanying recipe also gets an A+ I've had several requests for the recipe. It's almost impossible to ruin a bird cooked this way. Even if you overcook, it will still be moist because of the inner steam.

However, it doesn't come with a cup, so you have to either find a glass that fits or use a can. I don't like the idea of superheated aluminum and paint, so luckily I have a glass that fits perfectly.

I use mine in the oven, not the BBQ, though I'm sure it would work well there also. It fits in a pie pan, and I use a glass one. If you don't have a pie pan, you may want to consider buying a roaster which comes with its own pan.

I still give it 5 stars because for what you get, it works beautifully!

Great gadget!!! No more wobbly chicken on soda/beer cans!! I've toppled many whole chickens (hot ones.... ouch, scorched by hand) before purchasing this chicken stand. It drains the grease AWAY from the chicken. Some save the accumalated grease on the bottom for gravy....not me though.. I'm not a southerner and too many calories in gravy for me.

NOTE: YOU CAN ROAST THE CHICKEN WITHOUT THE CAN AND STILL TASTES GREAT!!

I made a slow cooked sticky chicken that was baked at 250 for fours hours and then roasted at 375 for 30 minutes and its was falling off the bone.

GO buy one of these now!!

I've tried different style can holders but this is simply the best can holder for beer can chicken. Quality designed at a low price. It adds just the right balance for chickens up to 8 lbs. (Use a 16 oz tall boy for birds 6 lbs and up). It's small profile doesn't add much width to the can so birds fit nicely. I found higher priced fancy designed holders don't do any better job than this one.

I have a lot of relatives living abroad, and none of them ever heard of beer chicken! (Me neither until a conversation I had in Illinois...).

This makes an awesome gift for everyone out side of the states, I already gave it 3 times as a gift was a huge hit each time!

Always get it with a cooking book!

Oh.. and the chicken is also tasty :)

This Beercan ChickCan rack works great. I was cooking beercan chicken for years and if you bump the grill the chicken tips over and the beer spills out.

With this rack the cooking process is much easier.

Just insert the 1/2 can of beer or wine into the rack then insert into the bird, set on the grill and you are set. Cook the chicken at medium heat (350-375 degrees) for one and a half hours and it will be the best chicken you have every had.

I have also bought seasoning from Amazon.

You cannot go wrong with this product.

What's scary about this BBQ brush is; when cleaning your grill the metal bristle come off. If your not careful it can get in your food and in you digestive track causing all kinds of problems.

I threw mine away in the trash.

Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron 10 1/4 Inch Square Skillet Grills

Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 10-1/4-Inch Square Skillet Grill, CherryThe only reason why this doesn't get the last star, in my book, is because of its somewhat limited usefulness. However, if you live in an apartment or otherwise anywhere where grilling is impossible, this is the next best thing....like all other Le Creuset products this heats evenly and wonderfully and takes abuse. I got mine as part of a 6-piece set (along with a Dutch Oven, Baking Pan, and Casserole) and sorta at first saw this as a "filler" piece. However, to it's credit, this pan can do even easilly-burned items like tofu dogs and fake bacon WONDERFULLY, which shocked me--I was convinced that nothing could give a "grilled" effect to those items. I even got adventerous the first time I used it and grilled some apple rings. I panicked when some sugar seemed to be burnt on for good despite a good soaking, but after the pot had been dried and put away for 48 hours it flaked right off. Forget what you know about nonstick surfaces, btw, and banish those bad memories of cruddy, flaking Teflon from the 70's. Just treat this well (I only use wooden utensils on it) and it will treat you well. Follow the instructions and enjoy! Just be sure to use a potholder and realize that once this thing gets hot it STAYS hot for a LONG time.

Wow, I love this pan! I also live in an apartment, so this is a great substitute for outdoor grilling when you want a quick dinner. It's not as good as the outdoor charcoal grill, but this has some advantages. It's super easy. I use this pan several times a week. I pre-heat the pan, brush a little canola oil to the ribs, and while it warms up to the right temperature, I prepare the food. I cut some veggies (can use zucchini, squash, small eggplant, onions, bell pepper, etc), on the bias, so there's more surface area, toss with olive oil, salt & pepper, and grill. You may have to do several rounds of it if you have lots of veggies. After cooking until just tender, toss with a little balsamic vinegar and olive oil. DELICIOUS!! Also, we've been grilling some great local wild salmon on this pan. It is unbelievable. It is very quick, so don't overcook. Season with salt and pepper, and anything you like. Just practice a couple times, experiment with the temperature and your technique, and you'll see how easy and tasty it is. If you can get some homegrown or organic produce, it's so much more tasty. Simple grilling complements good ingredients.

(1) Where is it written, who decreed that skillets should be round? (2) Why has it taken me so long to discover the advantages of a square fry pan?

The answers are: nowhere that I know of, and because my mother always used a round skillet. She would have loved this enameled cast iron beauty that leaves appetizing sear marks on meat a char effect without the mess. The ribbed base captures grease allowing for healthier low fat cooking, and the surface is a satiny black enamel that cleans in a breeze.

It's compatible with all heating surfaces, and has an easy hold comfortable handle. We lightly applied vegetable oil to the ribs before our first use, and for several times thereafter. Since then there has been no need for the addition of oils. By heating the grill for a few minutes on medium heat (test with a drop of water and heat until water droplets sizzle) we've found the cooking surface primed for superior cooking.

This nifty item has such a plethora of uses it can be used in the oven (keep your oven glove at the ready) or even on a backyard barbecue.

Don't let the high price tag and the cast iron thing scare you away from this great product. It's not your mother's cast iron of stuck-on messes and rust in your food. It's very easy to season, and from there it works great. We've been able to cook everything from salmon, to buffalo, to pineapples with no sticking.

Unlike it's predecessor, the George Foreman grill, it cooks many kind of foods beautifully without drying it out or sticking. The key...temperature control. Since it works with your stove, you can control the amout of heat you need.

Also, having a wee kitchen, it's nice not to have another appliance taking up valuable counter space.

One of the best features is the lifetime warranty. And they mean it too. My friend had a Le Creuset teapot that rusted out and they sent her a replacement for free.

Sure it's pricey, but you get what you pay for with this pan.

I live in the city, and don't have access to a grill. This pan makes perfect steakhouse grill lines on your pan. Just heat it really, really hot -to the point of smoking -on your stove first. Then turn on your broiler to High. Throw on a steak and shove it under the broiler. Two minutes later, rotate the steak 45 degrees. Flip steak and repeat. Professional gourmet steakhouse steakI swear.

But this pan will get oil splatters on it that will turn black under high heat circumstances. Are you going to spend 3 hours scrubbing every nook and cranny with baking soda and a scotch brite? No! I won't either. So I live with the black oil stains, and take them as badges of honor for all of the previous delicious meals past.

However, I'm slightly OCD and the black spots do bug me. I recommend this pan highly, just get the black color. You won't see any stains, and you'll just love this thing.

For panini fans: Get the panini press which fits with this perfectly.

The perfect San Francisco panini: Get a French roll, slice down the middle and slather the insides with olive oil. Lay on a few slices of prosciutto, a few roasted red peppers packed in water or oil (from your deli or condiments section of the grocery store), and a few generous slices of mozzarella. Sprinkle sandwich with a little salt. Grill in pan on medium heat until the first side is golden. Flip sandwich. Adjust heat so that when the second side turns golden, the mozzarella is just starting to melt. Bite into heaven.
