To turn this fan on, you rotate a circular piece of plastic counterclockwise. It's that gray stripe at the bottom. Well, it goes around the whole fan, and you have to turn it. The problem is that even on any kind of surface, carpet, wood, or linoleum, the pads on the bottom of this fan do not provide enough traction to let me turn it on without using both hands: One hand to hold the fan in place, and the other to rotate the circle. Looks great, just doesn't work great. Enough inconvenience to take two stars off. I also think that how vacant the inner chamber is limits how well this fan can project its heat. It's only good for very small rooms, or immediate-area warming but it isn't advertised as a whole-room heater, so that doesn't really matter. I paid 13 dollars total for mine (bought 3) and I think that's an appropriate price for them. Not more, not less. Unless these match your decor, or you are in desperate need of a heater, try to find something else, I would say, just for the switch problem

I've had mine for about 4 months now, and the heater portion no longer works. Just blows air through the fan, but the coils don't heat up now. The price was cheap for having at my desk at work where they keep it a little too chilly, but now it's pretty much useless. Was nice for the 4 months it worked though. Also the on/off "switch" is annoying as another reviewer mentioned. The plastic turning portion is done very cheaply, but I didn't expect much for the low price I paid.Want Sharper Image Personal Tabletop Oscillating Fan Heater Discount?
It was not as good as the orig sharper image heater.I liked the orig better. the one I had a couple years ago lasted a long time.
