Stove And Grill Paint

Stove And Grill PaintThis is a review of 5 stars to help offset the 1 star review by the fool who used it for something for which it's not intended. Yes, I also called Rutland and they said it can be used on the inside of a brick fireplace, but if it comes in contact with direct flame it will probably blister and peel. Nowhere on the can does it say it can be used for that purpose.

I used this stove paint to paint the bricks inside of my fireplace. It worked out really well but be prepared for the mess of a typical paint job. It is a deep black paint and thin just like regular paint so you will have the drips etc. If you are using it for a brick job then I would also recommend buying a spray can for the same type of heat job to get all of the cracks and areas missed by a paintbrush. At the end of my project it looked perfect though so i would definitely recommend it for a fireplace job.

Used to paint the chimney pipe coming out the back of my stove so it would match the stove. Took a few coates, but worked fine and made everything look much better than a black stove and shiny galvanized piping.

I have a fireplace over 100 years old. It was in serious need of attention. The paint was great. Easy to use and coverage was incredible. Looks like new!

For whatever reason many fireplace retailers market this as a good solution for painting the brick on the interior of your firebox with this stuff. It's NOT a good solution for that.

After about 3 fires, this was cracking and peeling BADLY on the back wall--and now has created the biggest mess/problem to solve in my house. We prepped and cleaned the brick as well as it could be done. Fact is this paint is not MADE for this application (call Rutland yourself if you need validation). They told me this is for METAL only, and any other purpose you are risking the paint not adhering.

I later used it on some metal trim pieces in my firebox and so far it's holding up for that. Just be careful about retailers hailing this as a solution for painting stone or masonry...
