Taylor 805 Weekend Warrior Surface Grill Thermometer

Taylor 805 Weekend Warrior Surface Grill ThermometerNo matter where I set my temperature controls on the grill, this thermometer always reads the temp at 500 degrees or more. I placed the thermometer in our oven and set the oven for 350 degrees yet the thermometer showed the temp at 450-500. I have called Taylor's customer service on several occasions and they never bother to call back. I would never buy another Taylor product.

I gave this grill thermometer to my dad for Father's Day. It works perfect when he wants to sear fish and steaks too. It's easy to remove from the grill too. I would recommend this item to anyone who does a lot of searing or wants to know the surface temperature of their grill. You can use this for a griddle or an indoor grill on your stove too.

Kind of a neat design, as a magnet, it stayed in one spot on my Big Green Egg. The only consistency with this thermometer was that it was inconsistent. My grate temperature was reading 50-100 degrees hotter than it really was (i tested it with both an infrared and a digital thermometer). I purchased another taylor digital probe thermometer, which I will be keeping because it was perfectly accurate. This item is getting returned, as it's just garbage.

Was looking for a more accurate thermometer for my Weber Kettle than sticking one through the top ports. This looked ideal. Except the needle never moved, totally worthless. At $8, it's hardly worth returning, but another disappointment. Wish I would have read the review beforehand.

Well, I LOVED the idea of this surface thermometer, and it actually worked great... the first time. After that, the surface area blacked and became unreadable. While the arrow still probably showed an accurate temperature, I couldn't tell what it was as the grid was completely blacked out. It then became very unsightly to have on the grill, and I tossed it.

I've moved on to the old fashioned way of testing my grill... hand over heat, and count.

Just feel bad I gave this as a gift as well... my brother got as many uses as I did.
