Fox Run Nylon Baster

I've tried a few turkey basters and this is my favorite. Why? The other basters I've tried don't make a 100% seal between the rubber bulb and the tube and this one does. I needed that because I mostly use this underwater I submerge it into my shrimp/food bowl, suck up some brine/mysis shrimp, and then feed my corals and fish with it. I also use it to blow off rocks or debris just stick it underwater, squeeze the bulb (to "load" the tube with water), and squeeze it again to blow the water out. You really need a tight seal to get enough water movement, and this has it.

I guess I'm not the only one using this for aquarium and brine shrimp capturing. It has a great sturdy rubber seal and good length to work with. Would be nice if it was clear and not opaque, but does the trick. I'm sure it would be perfect for handling food and basting, too!

I cooked my first whole chicken and needed a well made, easy to clean baster. Really, easy to clean was my main focus. The rubber top comes off so that you can clean it separately from the plastic piece. And I even put the plastic piece on th top rack of the dishwasher, which made it even easier. Functionality wise, it worked just as a baster should. good product.

I am using this baster to take samples from my home brew fermenting vessels in order to check alcohol content. It does a good job at that. One thing that may turn some people off though, is that the bulb has a very strong rubber smell, even after washing. It may go away as time marches on, but I thought I'd mention it.

It comes apart easily for cleaning, and I doubt it will ever break.
