Cooked-Per'fect Complete - Reusable Color-Changing Thermometer for Beef, Fish, Poultry, and Pork

Cooked-Per'fect Complete - Reusable Color-Changing Thermometer for Beef, Fish, Poultry, and PorkWe first saw a demo of this product at Cal State Fair and bought one there. After using it at home and being so happy with the accuracy and ease of use, we decided to buy one for our 5th wheel trailer plus several for gifts from Amazon. We have not been disappointed.

This little gadget is the best! My experience is 100% positive. I use it especially for cooking fish and for beef, in the oven and on the grill--both are hard to tell when they are done and don't want to be overcooked. Someone gave me this a couple of years ago and it is one of those things I wonder how I survived without. When I asked her where she got it so I could get more she couldn't remember. I have looked locally and described it to sales people whose eyes just glaze over. Finally just now, after taking it out of the dishwasher, on a whim, I googled "fish poultry beef rare medium well color coded thermometer". Amazon to the rescue! I have five daughters/daughter in laws and I am ordering five today. Maybe I will order myself an extra--my husband started washing this in the dishwasher which I am sure is against the rules, so mine may quit. But so far it's been fine!

This works by sticking it into your meat and reading the color temps. My instant read thermometer has been giving me some bad temps so I needed a replacement for that one. You can see the temperature differences between the surface of the meat and the center so you can get a heads up when the center of your burgers is that perfect 145 degrees. GRIND YOUR OWN MEAT!

We grill everything: steak, fish, pork, veal, lamb, and depending on the thickness, temperature, time, and so on we were forever undercooking or overcooking (worse!) our dinner until we got one of these. Instead of having to slice into the meat (and having the juice run down into the burners) you simply "stab" it into the meat (fish, pork, etc.) and it "lights up" to tell you if you're almost there, there, or on your way to well done. It's sort of like a mood ring for food ;)

The settings are for beef, fish, and poultry but you can safely use the beef settings for other farm meats like lamb and pork.

We like it enough we have given it as gifts to friends who barbecue, and who we notice have a hard time getting the meat cooked "just right."

Would prefer a probe that lights up rare, med, well-done rather than a strip that is flexible to insert in meat. Color s only the part stuck in meat, but maybe that's how it's supposed to work. I was impressed that it lists fish as most don't.
