Nifty BBQ Rib and Chicken Rack

Nifty BBQ Rib and Chicken RackThis rack is just what I needed for the convection oven in my RV. The rack was easy to assemble and use, cleaning it wasn't too bad either. I highly recommend this product to anyone with a large enough convection oven.

I use this rack in my Nu-Wave oven and it fits perfectly. I stuff the 3 rings with a half rack of pork ribs in each one. I cook on power level 5 for 100 minutes, turn over once and cook on power level 5 for another 120 minutes and the bones easily pull out of the rib meat. GREAT PRODUCT! Scrolling Iron and Distressed Black Wood Wall Gate GRILLE Plaque Set

Scrolling Iron and Distressed Black Wood Wall Gate GRILLE Plaque SetThes arrived and are beautiful. They look like 2 right "doors" instead of a right and left door though, but I'll get over it. Packaged nicely and add a nice look to our family room over the loveseat.

NEW, Set of Two (2) 14-Inch Long, Grill Spatula, Turner Spatula, Barbecue BBQ Spatula, Solid Stainl

NEW, Set of Two 14-Inch Long, Grill Spatula, Turner Spatula, Barbecue BBQ Spatula, Solid Stainless Steel, Flexible Blade, Commercial Grade, One Slotted Perforated Spatula and One Solid Face SpatulaI guess the other reviewer didn't like the handle. The handle is fine to me. It's same as those stainless steel serving/cooking spoons restaurants use.

The quality of the spatulas is super awesome. I already have one stainless steel spatula but wanted to have a backup. For this price you usually only get one so I'm sure I don't need to write too much about the price as you already know this is a good deal.

It said commercial grade and it's true. I used to work in a kitchen after my culinary school. This spatula really has the same or better quality they use at a professional kitchen.

It is not super flexible but it does have some flex in it. I accidentally bought a real flexible spatula before and I couldn't do a thing with that. I couldn't even cut eggs with it, it was that flexible. This one is flexible enough yet I am still able to cut eggs or hams and stuff.

Only thing though... it had stickers on the back of the handle and it was not easy to take off. haha

I should have paid more attention to what the pictures look like. The handles are mostly flat with edges pretty much the same as the spatula head, so not very comfortable in the hand. And they are not nearly as flexible as I had wanted. They are serviceable enough, so I won't be returning them, but I wouldn't buy them again if I had to replace these for any reason.

Cuisinart Gourmet Griddle Griddler Panini Press GRID-8NPC

Cuisinart Gourmet Griddle Griddler Panini Press GRID-8NPCI bought the griddler in February of 2005 and have taken care to ensure it lasts. The Griddler is heavy and sturdily constructed. It heats up quickly, and cleans up even faster. We have used it for Panini, grilling meat, and toasting burger buns. The griddler comes with interchangeable dishwasher safe griddle and grill plates. The unit can be used as a Panini press or as a griddle.

The base of the unit heats up and maintains temperature better than the top. This creates uneven toasting of the Panini or other items. It's not so much of a problem using as a griddle, since one side will simply cook faster than the other.

After a year the nonstick surface has started pealing off of the grill plates. I have never used metal on the nonstick surface and have taken great care to preserve the finish. Perhaps it is in the design, but the now I will have to take care not to get pieces of the nonstick surface in my food. The plates don't stay attached in the top anymore either. It's very annoying trying to reposition a hot plate into place.

On the surface, the Griddler has the looks and design to be a great product. Cuisinart has some bugs to work out to attain even heating and plates that last. If I were to buy a new Panini press, I would not look to Cuisinart again.

PROS:

Heavy and sturdily construction

Heats up and cleans quickly

CONS:

Non-stick surface does not last

Uneven heating

I wanted a Breville but bought this instead at half the price, mainly because the plates (it has two flat and two ridged) pop out and can be easily washed off at the sink. But Cuisinart would have you believe it's more versatile than it really is: the right and left temperature knobs control both heating elements and the center knob merely activates the right or left control. They both do the same thing, and could just as well be replaced by one "Off/Temp" control. I mention this because mine failed after 30 days one of the thermostats stuck closed and the thing almost caught on fire. Too many points of failure, thanks to the marketing people.

The surfaces are that sandy-gritty nonstick, not as easily cleaned as most. Other than that, it works well and I use mine often.

Used this once as a griddle, and everything was fine. On the second use, it overheated and melted the plastic griddle plate release knob, and sparked. What a mess.

Too bad, we thought this would be everything we wanted. will be looking at other brands.

I bought this grill last week & it is WONDERFUL! Every time we make something to eat we think about grilling it. Last night we made grilled stuffed burritos. They were GREAT! Better than any we have eaten anywhere. I love the temp dials. Having the on/off dial is great. I can leave it pluged in & turn it on as needed. I looked for a few months before I decided on this one. I am sooooo glad I did. Hope you all enjoy yours as much as we do.

I just replaced my Griddler (older model with 4 plates and separate drip cups), with the newly designed Griddler Gourmet. My huge complaint was the uneven cooking, I also did not like having to store the extra set of plates and the 2 drip cups. The old model had the heating element only around the outer edge, leaving anything toward the middle under cooked (VERY uneven cooking). I was at Costco, and saw the new designed one (the Griddler Gourmet). I thought it was GENIUS to make the plate reversible, and integrate the drip cups. Then I popped off the plates and saw that they now have the heating element coming in toward the middle. I got it, and LOVE it now!!!! This new design took away ALL the things I did not like about my older one. It cooks SO even now (don't have to rotate food at all), and I don't have extra parts to store (at least not until I get the optional waffle plates!!!). Anyway, if you are looking at this, get it. It really does work wonderfully!!!

Secura Halogen Infrared Turbo Convection Countertop Oven MINI, extender Ring;tong;cook Racks CO-05MH

Secura Halogen Infrared Turbo Convection Countertop Oven MINI, extender Ring;tong;cook Racks CO-05MH*** The Good ***

Cooking with these halogen ovens make even the worst cooks (like me) make the best possible food very quickly! I don't even need any seasoning, just raw meats taste noticeably better than anything I've ever cooked in a pan or oven. The taste is really impressive every time!

It's very convenient for three main reasons:

1) There's virtually no preparation, no oiling, pre-heating or defrosting required.

2) The cooking times are close to microwave times, and cooking a meal for a single person is usually 10-15 minutes total.

3) Cleaning it up is fast and easy, you just have to wait for the glass to cool down, which takes about 30 minutes.

This one appliance can almost replace all of my other cooking utilities; the oven, the microwave and the burners are all looking obsolete now!

*** The Bad ***

The first negative point is that this "mini" oven is not exactly small. The bowl alone has an 11 inch diameter at the tip and the handles extend to a width of 16", so the footprint is large. Also, you'll need more space for the lid holder, which takes up an additional 8" to the side of one of the handles. The size of this oven makes it more suited to a small family than it does to a single or dual person household. With the extender ring, this could easily be used on a daily basis with a family of 4 people. (the size complaints are being listed under "bad" points because Amazon or any other site has no listing for how large it actually is)

Despite it's large size, I couldn't even fit an 8" x 4" baking pan in it. So, I would like to buy some baking utilities that will fit inside of it, but I don't see any website for Secura or any additional accessories that would fit in this oven.

Another downside related to the size is that it's also quite tall, making it difficult to operate on standard counter-tops which often have *counters* above them (and you need to remove the lid). I ultimately had to place the oven on a small table, just to avoid counter-tops overhead.

Amazon lists this oven at 1,100 watts, but the instruction manual says it's 1,000 watts.

*** Conclusion ***

While I personally would've preferred something smaller like the Nu-Wave mini, I otherwise have no complaints. This is the PERFECT way to cook for a novice. It's easy, fast, quick to clean up and healthy. This oven gets a full 5/5 stars mainly because it makes me such great meals in a very daily practical way. I don't even know how I lived without it before! It's a very good investment and I recommend it to anyone that asks.

I'm going to go flip flop my review (back to a positive), and here's why ... Secura (the manufacturer) blew me off when there was a problem, but Lafraise (the seller) made everything right.

GREAT LITTLE OVEN ... HORRIBLE LITTLE COMPANY ... Read the whole review if you want to learn about the oven, but skip to the end if you want to see why I lowered the rating to one star.

I have the full size NuWave at home, and wanted to get one for my boat, but storage space is a premium on the boat, and when I started looking at the mini NuWave's odd size and shape, and thinking about what a pain in the butt it is to clean the full sized one, I decided to look elsewhere. After using this little Secura, I might even give away my NuWave and buy a full sized Secura for home.

Let's start with cleaning: The NuWave has a plastic tray on bottom, a metal pan with loose floppy wire handles that sits in the plastic tray, a couple of odd shaped metal racks with all kinds of arms and legs that get in the way, a large cumbersome plastic dome that stains permanently, and the heating element that secures to the top. All of that has to come apart and get cleaned each time, and it's full of nooks and crannys and things that snag and get in your way while you're trying to clean, and while they say it's dishwasher safe, it just doesn't fit in the dishwasher, and the bottom tray has to lay flat, so it just fills with water. The Secura is a glass bowl, a simple metal rack, and the heating element attached to a glass lid. Simple, easy to clean, and fits in the dishwasher with ease. It was just a pleasure to clean this Secura after using the NuWave for so long.

Now while I can't compare the size of the mini Secura to the mini NuWave head to head, I can say that I've looked at them (the mini NuWave is bigger), and it looks like the mini NuWave has all of the same problems that the full sized one has. It's oddly shaped (oval not round), it has way too many parts, and will not break down and store compactly. The Secura does not have to be used with the wide plastic stand that comes with it, you can just sit it on any surface that can take a little heat, and like I said the stand is plastic, so we're talking about very little heat on the bottom. So on the boat, where space is precious, I put the metal rack and power cord in the bottom of the bowl, along with a few round baking trays that I like, flip the lid with the heating element over so that the heating unit is upside down inside the bowl, slide the extender ring over the outside of the bowl, and the whole thing stores in a 6 1/2" tall by 10 1/2" diameter space (not 11" by 16" as reported by some others).

Also, I'm an electronics engineer, and I have a power budget on the boat, so I measured what this thing draws from the wall socket ... it's 944 Watts, considerably less than most microwaves and toaster ovens, yet it cooks much better, nearly as fast as the microwave, and far faster than any toaster oven.

One final note: Everything that I've tried so far, chicken, steak, salmon, muffins, cookies, 9" pizza, all cook just as fast and just as well in this mini Secura as they do in the full size NuWave, it just holds a little bit less.

Addendum: After 20 days, the timer sticks when it gets below five minutes (has happened four times). This is the version with the simple twist dial mechanical timer, the larger ones have a digital timer. I love the oven, and use it all the time, but I might have to return it for this issue.

Addendum 2: I put a drop of silicon lubricant in the timer mechanism, and twisted it from min. to max. several times, and it seems to be working ok now ... so I still love this oven.

Addendum 3: Nope, it just happened again, and I burned the hell of my food. I either have to watch it like a hawk, or send it back for a refund. The oven works great, it's a shame something this simple ruins it.

WOW! ... I just contacted customer support, and they only offer a 30 day warranty, so I'm just screwed. Also, I've now noticed other reviewers complaining about the same issue. My original assessment of this product still stands, but if they won't stand behind their product, after an obvious manufacturing flaw like this, well ... DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ANY SECURA PRODUCTS.

My wife has used turbo type ovens before and this is the first Secura. She has been happy with it and says its better than the previous ovens. We have the "mini" and its perfect for a 3 lb

I ordered this because the technology intrigued me. In the back of my mind, I thought this would probably just be something else to clutter my kitchen counter. Wrong! What a niffty little device! The mini is just the right size for a single or couple. While it still takes up a bit of counter space, it is well worth it. It makes the best home fries ever! I've not baked in it yet, but I have cooked a variety of meats and vegetables. All came out perfect...and quick! Clean up is easy. This is now one of my "must have" appliances!

Lodge SCRAPERGPK Grill Pan Scraper, 2-Pack

Lodge SCRAPERGPK Grill Pan Scraper, 2-PackDon't buy these for the Lodge Logic LPGI3 Pro 20-by-10-7/16-Inch Cast-Iron Grill/Griddle. The spacing of the grooves don't fit the grill, rendering them useless. Gave this two stars because the material feels like it can withstand high heat.

Just used them when the grill/griddle was slightly hotter than warm...melted. Thus the review is now one star.

I've used cast iron for 35+ years and found these scrapers great to scrape away little crusty bits, esp. in the curves of a pan. Remember, no dishwashing liquid should touch a cast iron pan--just scrape and scrub with a stiff lodge brush, rinse and thoroughly dry. I then rub a little cooking oil on the inside, mopping up any excess with a paper towel.

Buy Lodge SCRAPERGPK Grill Pan Scraper, 2-Pack Now

I use these with a Lodge cast iron grill pan. The scrapers have two rows of scraping notches at different widths, presumably to accommodate the different pans in Lodge's product lineup. These are great for cleaning up grill pans without removing the seasoning just use them in the sink with hot water (no soap!) and soon your pans will be clean and ready for oiling. Before these I had been using those green scrubbing sponges which 1) didn't clean the pan very well, 2) sanded through the seasoning in some "hot spots", and 3) shredded the sponge in no time. These scrapers have no such issues. They're rigid but slightly flexible and comfortable to hold and use. And you can toss them into the dishwasher with impunity.

I would suggest one improvement: put a narrow "U" shaped notch on the back edge of the scraper to scrub off the top edges of the ribs on the pan. As it is, these scrapers are better for cleaning out gunk that's fallen into the valleys between the ribs. But not a big deal. I've had nothing but outstanding experiences with Lodge products. Nice to see that continue even with a little item like this.

Do not order this if you plan on using it with the Lodge Logic LPGI3. The notches on this scraper do not fit hte grooves in the grill side of the Lodge Logic LPGI3. That was specifically why I ordered this product and the product description does not mention this at all. Maybe it will work for others, but it did not work for me.

Want Lodge SCRAPERGPK Grill Pan Scraper, 2-Pack Discount?

This package contains two identical scrapers. Each has two grooved sides of different spacing, and a rounded edge. These work well for cleaning the Lodge L8SGP3 grilling skillet, and can be tossed in the dishwasher afterward. Alternatives would be using a wadded up paper towel or a stiff brush. This tool gets a big start on the cleaning and then you might have to pick a few remnants off.

Inexpensive and useful. Give one to a friend!

Bodum Chambord Enameled Cast Iron Grill Pan, White

Bodum Chambord Enameled Cast Iron Grill Pan, WhiteWe are very happy with both the looks and the performance of this pan. It leaves gorgeous grill marks on veggies, meat, etc.

It needs to be washed and oiled and it is heavy so it requires more maintenance than your average pan. It is worth the investment.

Just got this cast-iron grill pan and have already made amazing steaks and grilled veggies. Leaves beautiful grill marks on everything. This pan is extremely heavy and is of great quality. Takes a bit of effort for clean up and maintenance, but worth it for the food it cooks up.

For size reference, we were able to grill 2 16oz NY Strip Steaks with no problem.

The pan looks nice, the box it high quality and makes you feel liek you bought a good product. Then I opened it and pulled it out and the handle was all wobbly right out of the box. Not sure what happened there, but it might explain why a good brand name product was so cheap. Not sure if returning it is worth it considering how much shipping costs since the pan it so heavy, but I hate the wobbly handle. It probably wont be long until it breaks off completely.

GrillPro 91655 Stainless 12-1/4-Inch by 18-Inch Professional Griddle

GrillPro 91655 Stainless 12-1/4-Inch by 18-Inch Professional GriddleI've owned this griddle for a few weeks and can say that it works best over a heat source that can heat the entire griddle uniformly. When using over a camp or kitchen stove only the area right above the burner gets hot. And that area can get extremely hot while the other areas do not get hot enough to cook.

There are a couple things you will need: a griddle scraper and a cleaning pad such as the synthetic steel wool cleaning pad by Gator #7318 gatorfinishing.com. I use these to clean the burn stains. The cleaning pad was the only thing that would get the stains off after my first use overheating and burning the butter I was using for some eggs. I have an infrared thermometer that I use to measure the temp of cooking surfaces that works fine on dark surfaces, but doesn't show the correct temp on this shiny surface. Thus it was a lot hotter than I thought. Now I rely on the sizzle of drops of water to give me an idea if the surface is hot.

Looks like I will be using this to cook over a grill and not a stove. My guess is that this would be true for any stainless steel griddle of the same weight.

I agree with the other review that this does not work well on a camp stove. I was hoping for an even temperature but found that only the areas directly above the burners got hot. I also found that they got 'extremely' hot so you had to really watch what you were doing. I used this on two camping trips and on the second one, all of the metal on the bottom that were welded on to bring the griddle off the burners a bit fell apart so I then had to use the griddle directly on the camp stove burners. Very poor quality. I got one good use out of it and will probably never use it again as now it gets even hotter then it did with the metal brace lifts underneath and I'm not sure how to get those welded back on.

Rubbermaid Commercial Products FG196600RED 9 1/2-Inch High Heat Spoon Scraper

Rubbermaid Commercial Products FG196600RED 9 1/2-Inch High Heat Spoon ScraperThese silicone spatulas are the highly recommended ones from a leading cooking magazine. So I purchased all these Rubbermaid professional heat resistant spatulas and spoonulas (9 ½", 13 ½" and 16 ½" in length). I use the spatulas primarily for folding ingredients in a mixing bowl. I prefer to use the spoonulas for scraping a bowl when I want to scrape out every last bit of cooking goodness (the edges of the spoonulas are thinner and the cupping of the spoonulas both help to scrape bowls, pans, and pots clean). The Rubbermaid professional plastic handles are more comfortable to use than the wood handles on my heat resistant spatulas and spoonulas. Also, the silicone heads of my wood handle ones are stiffer than the Rubbermaid professional ones. I think that little bit of flex in the Rubbermaid Professional silicone heads helps me scrape cleaner.

I have yet to use the little notch on these spatulas for scraping under the opening of jars (I think they were intended for use on the commercial kitchen size jars) since the spatulas are 2 ¼" wide for the 9 ½" to 2 ¾" wide for the 13 ½" and 16 ½" long tools. The handle ends have small prongs that look like they are to help keep the entire spatula or spoonulas from sliding into a work bowl.

I have some older Rubbermaid ones and they are definitely not stain resistant: the paprika has permanently stained one of the mixing spatulas. I was able to remove the paprika stain from the Rubbermaid professional spatula using dishwashing liquid and a nylon Scotchbright like pad. Also, my older Rubbermaid heat resistant spoonula developed a split at the tip and has warped a bit.

I just realized that one of the reasons why I don't like my similar sized 13 ½" sized silicone spatulas and spoonulas with wood handles: the working end is heavy so the tool is not as balanced as these Rubbermaid Professionals.

For most home kitchens, I'd recommend buying the 9 ½' and 13 ½" size spatulas and spoonulas. There is a 16 ½" size that is very long and the silicone head is the exact same size as the 13 ½: (14" actual) size (4" X 2 ¾").

PROS: The silicone heads have just the right amount of flex to scrape cleaner than similar sized scrapers and spoonulas. The handles are more comfortable and sized well.

CONS: A bit expensive but you a get a tool likely to last.

We have the Rubbermaid Heat Resistant spoonulas and spatulas in several sizes, and duplicates of the smaller ones. We use them for everything in the kitchen. They do not stain, melt, or degrade in any way. They withstand the dishwasher very well, and are virtually indestructible. I even mixed a small batch of concrete patch with the largest one! The dried mix washed right off.

Each of my daughters-in-law got a pair in their Christmas stocking last year. I highly recommend these utensils.

Have started a project of upgrading my kitchen utensils and cookware and have long had the Rubbermaid spoon spatula at the top of my list after doing much research and reading all the positive reviews. So I eagerly ordered this item when it went on the 4 for 3 sale and the price seemed right and it just arrived today. It greatly surprised me to receive a spatula that measures 2 3/8" at its widest point. Promoting this as a 3 inch wide spatula seems deceptive at best. The picture also gives the impression of a wider spatula.

I will say that this seems like a very good quality product and it may suit my needs just fine as a small spatula for scrambled eggs, sauces, clearing out my blender, etc. The silicone has a nice feel to it. The spatula seems firm with just enough flexibility at the top and around the edges. Really like the way the head attaches to the handle as well. Just do not buy this with the idea of getting a wide, heavy duty spoon spatula. It seems a shame that Rubbermaid has misadvertised such a seemingly good product.

Update: I returned the product. This spatula seems over-priced, particularly given the misleading product description.

I bought this by accident; was 'aiming for' the equivalent scraper, didn't zoom in on the picture and bought the spoon version by accident.

I was going to return it but treating it as a 'happy accident' because it will be the PERFECT utencil for stirring my chili and getting all that wonderful fond mixed in!

4 vs 5 stars because rather than having some internal structure to make the 'spoon' shape have strength they just designed it super super thick making the spoon side quite heavy; it's like a rubber mallet with a dent on one side to make a spoon!

this thing is desgned to be used in a commercial environment, scraping out a 5-gallon size mixer etc. it will be comfortable in pots bigger than 6qt and oversized on smaller pots.
