We ordered this waffle maker for my 10 year old son who enjoys having belgian waffles when we go on vacation at the hotels. I wasn't sure if I should get this waffle maker or not because it's not your traditional waffle maker design, but we have 3 boys, 10, 12, and 14 and while they are getting a little older my wife and I thought it would be fun to make Mickey waffles and could always invest in something else later on if we really tired of it. The waffle maker is very easy to clean due to the non stick surface. Everything peals off easily with a wooden spatula or fork. The outside gets very hot during cooking, but the handle stays very cool so make sure to only touch it by the handle when cooking. We just started using this and for startes purchased generic pancake/waffle mix from the super market, using a very popular common brand of mix. When you plug it in, you will see a blue light that turns red when hot and alternates between red and blue as it works to maintain an even temparature. With the store bought mix the pancakes take only 1 minute to cook and are light golden brown. Leaving the mix in even 10 more seconds will darken the outside considerably, but not burn and the waffles come out delicious in either case. Very quick to cook and super easy to use. The waffle maker feels very durable. The waffles are fluffy. I'm not sure if it's the particular mix we are using which is really more for pancakes, but ours came out tasting like pancakes and not crunchy on the outside. I'm sure this will vary depending on the particular mix you use. We love this waffle maker and would recommend to others, although seems hard to find at a reasonable price nowadays. I'd seen it advertised for half the price we purchased at, but it was sold out at that price and all places I looked for charged about the same as Amazon did. I purchased for less elsewhere however. I could not find a single review on line anywhere so i'm adding this one. Hopefully it helps others. This will make fluffy waffles, I can't say if it will make crunchy ones or not as I have not yet tried enough mixes to know for sure. Here's the thing this does not make a legit waffle. It is a thick pancake. If your kid realy wants a Mickey imprint it does the trick and tastes ok. The only other problem is there is no setting, the thing is just on full blast. So it gets hotter and hotter, the waffles cook faster as you make each next one and eventually it will make a crisp outside and underdone inside. So you might have to turn off and restart. Most people who buy this I assume have had a Mickey Waffle in Disney World, where they are awesome. This is not that. I'm not sure why they can make a decent waffle iron that also has Mickey's face, I mean it is 2012, we do have the technology. I would gladly pay an extra $20 to have a legit waffler. This is why you see people selling the old style Mickey Waffle Irons for $100-300 used. Which I believe one of those versions was recalled. I really don't want to burn my house down to make a decent Mickey waffle. So I'll continue to make these because my kids love Mickey's face, but I long for a legit waffle iron that cooks easily and also features Mickey's face.Buy Disney DCM-1 Classic Mickey Waffle Maker, Brushed Stainless Steel Now
Not sure how the new Mickey Mouse waffle iron could be so different than the model before, but this one was designed in a way that you cannot cook the entire waffle... so if you like eating doughy Mouse ears, please buy this one.Read Best Reviews of Disney DCM-1 Classic Mickey Waffle Maker, Brushed Stainless Steel Here
We have purchased, many years ago, three of the Mickey's Waffle maker for ourselves and our one child's family. Our 16 grandkids love the Mickey Waffles. Our first one wore out and we found you didn't make them anymore, but found one on line from VillaWare in Canada. Since we travel to all 5 of our children's home with the Waffle maker, we decided, since we saw this one on line, to buy one for our New Jersey family. When it came, we saw it was a little different than the original and our others. It is smaller and makes thinner waffles. Therefore we feel it is just "Okay" and not as great as the original. The grand kids were Ok with it, but said they liked our original one much better.Want Disney DCM-1 Classic Mickey Waffle Maker, Brushed Stainless Steel Discount?
Waffles tasted more like pancakes. Was very disappointed. Expected a light and airy waffle. Waffles were soggy and doughy even after several different recipes
