Super-Seal Champagne Stopper

Super Seal Champagne StopperThese stoppers work perfectly. They give a sure seal to champagne bottles, and they are easy to use. I have arthritis in my wrists, but these work so easily even I can use them. You may see some of these type of stoppers that don't have the extended white stopper that goes into the bottle. Those "flat" type stoppers don't work nearly as well, in my experience. I recommend this type of stopper, vs. those. The stoppers arrived on time and in perfect condition. Very happy with the product and seller; will use again.

Ever have a bottle of champagne or sparkling wine that you couldn't finish and wanted to reseal for a day or a week? If you have this gadget in a kitchen drawer, no problem. See that little white bit on the bottom? It's a soft, hollow "cork" about 5/8 inches long that goes inside the neck of the bottle. The more pressure in the bottle, the tighter that soft, hollow cork presses against the inside of the bottle neck, the tighter the seal. Using this gadget, I've kept a bottle of sparkling wine on its side in my fridge for about 10 days without any leakage or noticeable loss of pressure.

WARNING: there is a different gadget that looks almost the same but it doesn't work at all. The shiny metal part looks the same. But instead of a soft, hollow cork 5/8 inch long, there is a hard 1/8 inch nub that does a very poor job of sealing the bottle. If the bottle is on its side, wine will leak out. Even if the bottle is upright, all the pressure will leak out.

So buy the gadget with a 5/8 inch cork, not the one with a 1/8 inch nub.

UPDATE: JUDGING BY OTHER REVIEWS, THE 1/8 INCH HARD PLASTIC NUB HAS BEEN REPLACED BY A 1/8 INCH SOFT (RUBBER?) NUB WHICH SEEMS TO WORK WELL AT SEALING THE BOTTLE. At least, that's what a number of reviewers report. Will retailers sell their remaining stock of hard nubs or return them to the factory? How do you tell if the nub is soft or hard if there are no reviews saying that it's soft or that it works well? I'm afraid that I don't know the answer to either of those questions. I only know that the 5/8 inch "cork" type works very well for me. I guess that you should only buy champagne stoppers with all positive reviews. Or play it extra safe and look for the 5/8 inch cork AND positive reviews.

I have purchased many types of champagne/sparkling wine corkers over the years. I've tried the latest greatest promising great results. Alas, I am now returning to the standard, tried and true corker. This one gives a nice tight seal, and the bubbles last.

this cork works better than those with a flat bottom with regards to sealing the bubbles into the champagne. I will buy more.
